Unable to Configure Database in ConsoleOne

PROBLEM
I can navigate to Tools->Zenworks Inventory->Configure Database, browse to
and select {server_name}_invDatabase. However, when I click OK the mouse
pointer just turns into an hourglass. The window wont close and accept
the change. You end up clicking Cancel with the hourglass to close the
window. You can right click on the {server_name}_invDatabase object in
eDir and choose Zenworks Inventory->Configure DB but when you attempt to do
a query or something a window pops up prompting you to first configure your
database.
SYSTEM
Netware 6.5 SP5.
ConsoleOne 1.3.6e with Zenworks 6.5.2 snapins (after upgrade, see below)
We were running Zenworks for Desktops 4 until I upgraded to Zenworks 6.5
SP1 about a year to year and a half ago. Some time after that the
Inventory functionality stopped. Im now trying to fix it.
ATTEMPTS TO FIX
1. I first applied Support Pack 2 for Zenworks 6.5. That didnt fix my
problem.
2. I then tried reinstalling the Inventory Service off the Zenworks 6.5
with SP1 CD, starting the Inventory service, and then reapplying SP2. That
didnt fix it.
3. I have followed the steps in Novell TID # 10097151. I actually had been
wondering which object was the correct one, if it was Inventory
Service_{server_name} or {server_name}_ZenInvService. After following
these steps I am seeing computers getting inventoried on the Inventory
Service console screen. That wasnt happening before. So this fixed one
of my problems but not all of them.
4. I then followed the steps in Novell TID #10097366. I confirmed the
usernames were set as shown and retyped the passwords. I even restarted
the Sybase (ASA) and Zen Inventory services at the console but that didnt
fix it.
5. I found this thread
(http://groups.google.com/group/novel...b931657601b01a)
in which other users were dealing with the same problem. I found an older
copy of InventorySnapins.jar as specified and tried it but that didnt fix it.
What can I try next? I really want to use Zenworks to hunt for old apps on
my network that were not using anymore.
And in a side note, where *do* you configure Zenworks to scan a workstation
for applications? The software scan tab of the workstation inventory
policy has a footnote saying these settings only apply to ZfD 3.2, 4, and
4.01. I checked the ZfD 6.5 SP2 manual and it says about the same thing
verbatim. However, neither one includes a helpful sentence telling you
*where* to set this if you are using Zenworks 6.5 or even referring to a
different chapter or section of the manual. Does Zenworks just assume that
if you want to inventory the hardware that you want the software
inventoried as well and just do it automatically?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Matthew

I see. It seems there was a change in assumptions when Novell moved from
Zenworks 4 to 6.5. Previously it seems there was the assumption that since
desktop computers weren't that powerful it might overwhelm them to scan for
both hardware and software. Therefore, these options were put next to each
other so you could choose. In Zenworks 6.5 the assumption is that, since
client computers have become more powerful, if you're scanning the client
hardware you're going to want to scan the software as well. Therefore they
took away the use of the software tab and made it less obvious on how to
disable scanning.
Everything seems to be working for me now on Zenworks Inventory. It's been
inventorying for about 48 hours now and has updated most of my stale
records. I want to thank Shaun for all the posts he replies to on the
Zenworks newsgroups. I've seen his replies all over the place as I was
searching through Google Groups trying to fix this and they helped me fix my
problems.

  • Why am I unable to Configure Database Mail?

    To Anyone who can help -- I am following the self-paced training kit for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Implementation and Maintenance written by Mike Hotek and have entered the following code as requested:  ( Note that I have italicized the
    code & message )
    EXEC sp_configure ‘Database Mail XPs’,1
    GO
    RECONFIGURE WITH OVERRIDE
    GO
    When I execute this code I get the following message:
    Msg 15123, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_configure, Line 51
    The configuration option 'Database Mail XPs' does not exist, or it may be an advanced option.
    Admittedly I am very new to SQL Server -- the only thing I can figure why this is not working is because I did not check the Reporting Services box when I installed the SQL Server
    2008 Enterprise software, as I was following the instructions as close as possible.  The other possibility is I downloaded a different database than what was asked, although I have no idea how that would affect my outcome.  Thank you to anyone

    Oh yeah, I don't know if this helps but I am running Windows Vista, w/ Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU processor 2.50GHz

    please try  this---

    Hello Kiran,
    I did a few tests again yesterday, and it was really a stupid mistake from myside.
    The error message did mean, that there wasn't enough space.
    It isn't the authority issue, it was a leak of space.
    FYI, the complete DB-Size of Source System is required - NOT JUST RESERVED SPACE!!!
    Thx for help and sorry for stealing your time :O

  • Unable to load database connector

    Hi. I am trying to get a report running through the JRC in Crystal Reports XI. Whenever I try to run the report, it pulls up the viewer, but then gets the following message:
    "Unable to load database Connector"
    'com.crystaldecisions.reports.queryengine.driverImpl.DriverLoader'
    I was under the impression that I didn't need to set any JDBC parameters because it would pull them from the report. Is there some sort of configuration I missed?
    Thanks for any help.

    hello,
    I have got the same problem.
    Java don't find the class DriverLoader in any jar.
    I have found it on the CrystalDatabaseConnector.jar (an old jar) but that's makes some problems of compatibility when I use it.
    I have to add CrystalQueryEngine.jar (another old version jar) to work with it and i've got an java.lang.IncompatibleClassChangeError: Implementing class

  • Configuration Database issue while Deployment.

    Hi,
    I have a BizTalk 2010 project which I want to deploy on a remote server. When I go to
    Properties-> Deployment -> Server and enter the Server name as 'RemoteServer'. I see an error in the Configuration Database:
    <No BizTalk Configuration database(s) found on server 'RemoteServer'.>
    and when I try to deploy I get error: Parameter name: strDBName
    However, when I open other projects, they already have Server 'RemoteServer' selected and Configuration database as 'BizTalkMgmtDb'. Also, I can successfully deploy these projects to the 'RemoteServer'. So, why in this project
    I'm not getting any Configuration database?
    Please help.
    Thanks.
    Kunal G

    Hi Kunal,
    I did some more work on this.
    Case 4:
    In Visual Studio’s “Deployment" panes --> Server, if I select any server where I don't have Login permission, then I get the Login error as you have mentioned:
    "Login failed for user 'domainNameAprabhu'."
    Resolution to Case 3:
    In case 4,  what I also noticed is when I update the existing Server name (server name where my BizTalkMgmtDb exist) in the Deployment pane, the drop down box unable to recognize the
    new SQL server (or not able to refresh the Databasename when any change happen to the Server name) failed with the error:
    <No BizTalk Configuration database(s) found on server 'SQL Serer Name'>
    However, if I start a new project from scratch, the application can easily find BizTalkMgmtDb.
    Then I logged into the database server where the BizTalkMgmtDb exist --> Security --> Logins --> Selected the group where my login (login to the machine where I have SQL Server, if database in the
    same machine as Visual studio then you can do this in the same server) --> Properties --> Server Roles --> Check "sysadmin" access.
    Then I came back to my Visual Studio, closed and restarted the Visual Studio, went to the Deployment pane in the Server property, I can now get the BizTalkMgmtDb without any issue. It’s a guaranteed privilege
    issue.

  • Configured database is not compatible

    When I try to open the inventory I get the error, configured database is
    not compatible, trying to access a later version of the database. I have
    the database configured for Sybase, which is suppossed to be the
    default. However, I don't see a sybase database running on the server, I
    do see a my sql database running on the server. Any ideas what to do
    next? Thanks.

    When in ConsoleOne I go to Tools>ZenWorks Inventory>Configure DB it tells
    me the database is configured successfully. I checked the policys and
    they seem to be setup correctly. When I try to do an Inventory Query, or
    any othe data retrieval, I get the error:
    The configured database is not a compatible database.
    You are trying to access the later version of the ZenWorks database.
    To me, it sounds like the ZenWorks engine and the Sybase database on the
    server, are not the same or compatible. How do I check this and correct
    this?
    Thanks.

  • Unable to get database instances

    I have a custom Java plugin that I had to migrate to a new server. I'm assuming I am missing some configuration somewhere that was present on the old server.
    I am getting this error: com.primavera.integration.client.ClientException: Unable to get database instances.
    I have tested the "demogeneral.cmd" and it seems to login to the database just fine.
    I'm not quite sure what else to test now.

    Not sure if your plugin is running local or remote but I have used this to test remote connections.
    import com.primavera.integration.client.Session;
    import com.primavera.integration.client.EnterpriseLoadManager;
    import com.primavera.integration.client.RMIURL;
    import com.primavera.integration.client.bo.object.Activity;

    public static void main(String[] args) {
    Session session = null;

    String user = "admin";
    String password = "password";
    String databaseName = "P6Demo";
    String databaseId = "";
    try
    DatabaseInstance[] dbInstances = Session.getDatabaseInstances( RMIURL.getRmiUrl( RMIURL.STANDARD_RMI_SERVICE, host, port ));
    for (DatabaseInstance dbInstance : dbInstances ) {
                        System.out.println(dbInstance.getDatabaseName());
                        System.out.println(dbInstance.getDatabaseId());
                        System.out.println();
                        if (dbInstance.getDatabaseName().equals(databaseName)) {
                             databaseId = dbInstance.getDatabaseId();
                   if (databaseId != "") {

  • Unable to modify database

    hi,
    i'm unable to perform the following operations:
    unarchive a repository
    create a new repository
    create a new repository from schema
    duplicate repository
    i'm getting the error "unable to modify database".
    I have tried restarting the MDM server but the problem persists.
    This problem has never occured before. Has someone faced this issue before? if yes then could you kindly provide the cause and resolution?
    I'm on SP05 patch2 HF1 (build 5.5.42.57). MDM is running on Oracle.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Swana,
    <Unable to Modify Datbase>
    This error occurs due to a problem with the database on which MDM server is seated.
    You can try one of these options to correct this problem:
    - Check the oracle data base Listener configuration
    - Stop and start the oracle service from the system on which it is installed.
    Start->Program->oracle->
    - After doing this stop and start the MDM service.
    - Then try performing the above activities.
    It should work.I had faced the similar error.
    Hope it helps
    Kindlt reawrd points if found useful
    Thanks

    We have sbs 2011 standard. Yesterday. exchange public folder cannot be mounted. It show error :
    An Active Manager operation failed. Error: The database action failed. Error: Operation failed with message: MapiExceptionCallFailed: Unable to mount database. (hr=0x80004005, ec=-501).
    I run eseutil /mh. it tells me dirty shutdown. I then run eseutil /p. to change to clean shutdown. It still have same error.  I try to use asiedit to remove public folder. It doesnot have delete option.
    Please help
    gary zhou

    Hi,
    I think you could look into the Event Viewer to verify whether there are some related errors or warnings included. I think it could be checkpoint here. At the same time, you need to run the Exchange Best Practice Analyzer to have a general health check of
    your server.
    Actually, you could delete the public folder in the ADSI Edit if you like,
    Open ADSI-Edit and got to configuration
    Navigate to this path:
    CN=Configuration,DC=DOMAIN,DC=LOCAL
    CN=Services
    CN=Microsoft Exchange
    CN=EXCHANGE_ORG
    CN=Administrative Groups
    CN=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)
    CN=Databases
    CN=PUBLIC_FOLDER_DATABASE
    Just like a figure below:
    Note: You need to make sure that there is no useful information included in the public folder database.

    I'm pretty new to the whole LAMP stuff, so can please any1 tell me what's going wrong?

    Ok, some questions:
    1. Did you enable mysql in php.ini?
    http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/LAMP#MySQL
    2. Did you read / follow the torrentflux installation guide included with the installation?
    (if not, check here: http://www.torrentflux.com/)
    3. I have not worked with the package from AUR, the package form the official site (again, http://www.torrentflux.com/) works well for me. Did you try this?
