Unable to configure Google Mail in OSX Mail

Running Yosemite on my iMac.
I am unable for some reason to configure Gmail in OSX Mail. I did this easily on my Macbook Pro, but for some reason the same steps cause things to error out.
When I attempt to add the GMAIL email to my OSX Mail, it will look as if it's creating it, but then comes back with a message that says that Mail and Notes can not be configured. Yet when you look in the OSX Mail, the inbox is there and the label/mailboxes are there. But, there is no Archive (All Mail) as I have on my Macbook Pro also running Yosemite.
Any clues on what i can do?

The MacBook Pro problem was fixed by removing Google from the Internet Accounts and Mail. Then adding the Google account back and gong back to Mail to configure the account. Why it went south? Don't know.
This doesn't fix my iMac problem however, which is very unusual, seeing that I have the same version of Yosemite and Mail running on both computers. On the Mac, it just won't setup the Gmail account.

I´m using Google Apps for business and have 5 companies with about 15 different email adresses. 1 email adress is the primary and the others are aliases.
I want to use Apples Mail client and I´m trying to configure the different accounts.
Primary:
Name: Company
Mail: [email protected]
Alias1:
Name: Company1
Mail: [email protected]
Alias2:
Name: Company2
Mail: [email protected]
...and so on
I have created several outgoing servers that I use from the primary account.
When I recive an email to Alias 1 and send a replay it says that it comes from the Primary (Comapny). If I recive an email to Alias1 (Company1) I want to replay with that Name (Company1) and with a specific signature that are linked to that company.
I´m not sure that I have explained it correctly but is there anyone out there with a similar problem and a solution to it?

Check that you configured the SMTP server for each address correctly, it should match the user ID and password of the Imap server in use, and it should be marked as the server to use for the account.

Attachment in OSX Mail are placed in random areas within e-mail

Why is it when I add an attachment to Mail in OSX mail, it places the attachement in random places within my typed e-mail? Why doesn't it just attach blow in a designate spot? Instead I could type out a long e-mail and then when I place the attachment it puts it in some random spot within the e-mail, breaking up the formatting of the e-mail and making it look very unprofessional. I am working with OSX Lion but this also happens on non Lion Machines. Most of the files are Word 2011 files, some others are Excel, while also occuring with JPEG, and MPEG. Fix this please.

Being users like yourself, we cannot really fix anything.
But...
As far as I can tell, the attachment always gets inserted where your cursor is currently located.
You can, of course, move the attachment to any place you want, e.g., the end of the message, by dragging.

Hi All,
I have been trying hard online to find some resource to configure google apps in Mail 5 of lion os x not as gmail but as exchange.
The reason is that I want to sync my contacts as well as calendar and email but if configured as gmail ot only takes email and may be calendar.
I use this over all my devices and need my calendars and contacts to be synced all over
I called the customer support in USA but they directed me to call a UK number.
Appreciate your guide line, or feedback with an online resource.

think i set it up like exchange but calendars doesn't sync and AB no sure,you also can do it in system preferences in the mail,calendars pane ..

How do I make Mac mail and iOS Mail sync to each other with a google apps (not traditional gmail) mail account?

I have a google apps mail account in the form [email protected] I have successfully set up both my mac (A1342) Mail and my iPhone (5c) mail so I get my account on both devices. However, when I read an email on my iphone, it remains unread on my mac (and vice versa). But if I read an email on either, the copy in my Gmail inbox on the web is correctly changed to read. How do I set up my mac Mail and iOS mail so they interact with eachother?
I am running OSX 10.9 and iOS 7.

Set the account (on the Mac) as an Imap account, it seems as though it is currently set as POP.

Unable to re-add gmail account to Mail app

I'm trying to re-setup a Google email account that I deleted from my Macbook Pro (Yosemite). I get the following message when trying to set it up in Internet Accounts:
There was a problem setting up the Mail account.
Mail couldn't discover the account settings for the Mail server "mydomain.com".
If I click OK, my contacts, Calendar, and Messages accounts are all configured. Only the Mail account isn't checked (or setup in Mail). When I try to check the box, it immediately unchecks with no error given.
I noted the following log entries in the system log, not sure if they are related:

I've tried setting the account up manually ("Add Other Account...") but that also failed. I've tried repairing within Disk Utilities. I've restart multiple times.
I've verified that IMAP is enabled for this account. I am able to set this account up in the third party app Postbox (another email client for mac) with no issues.
There must be something wrong with my local configuration and I'm out of ideas. Help?

precisely the same issue on 2 computers on 10.9 and 10.10
- the accounts are google apps for business accounts
- imap is on
- 2 step verification is off
- upgrading the 10.9 machines resulted in the same issue/error
- running onyx and cleaning out everything did nothing
- trashing mail prefs nothing
- creating new user account on the macs...same issue
- i can setup the accounts on my own 10.10 machine (ios also works for those 2 accounts)
completely dead in the water....my next step to try is to clean install the 2 effected machine....

How to configure N9 for push e-mail?

Does anybody know how to configure N9 for push e-mail? It should be possible because push email is part of Nokia's N9 official specs but I'm unable to find any reference in the manual or online.

I know that I am late to the party but just got my N9. The push email works fine for my Exchange & my Gmail but for my mail.com account (which I believe is really AOL) it only syncs when I manually tell it to. I have it set to "always up to date" ... does anyone have any ideas?

Update: just fixed it myself but in case it helps anyone I turned on the Push Notifications & that did the trick. Which is kind of odd bc I notifications from my Gmail & MS Exchange automatically did it but I guess that feature has to be turned on for this email.
Wish all the features on the N9 had the "I" icon which you could press for more info as I thought that option would just let you know when your email was syncing (like the little arrow on the top right). Oh well - now if I can just get my contacts/calendar off of my PC's OutLook & onto my N9 ...................

Google calendar sends e-mail reminders, iCal shall not trigger Mail

I am using several Google calendars. I configured Google calendar to send reminders via e-mail. Unfortunately, iCal tries to do the same now. So for every entry in one of my Google calendars, Mail appears and wants to send a reminder e-mail ... Very annoying. What I would like to have, however, is the following:
E-Mail alarms come via Google calendar and on screen reminders come via iCal. Under no circumstances, however, Mail shall send e-mail reminders itself.
Any way to achieve this?

Not exactly what you're asking for but… you can disable all alarms for a calendar in iCal by selecting the calendar in the Calendar list, pressing Cmd-I and from the info window that should appear checking "Ignore alarms".

Why is Mail unable to receive my emails when other mail programmes can?

I use Mail 2.1 on my Macbook (OSX 10.4.8) and Mail 1.3.11 on my G5 iMac (OSX 10.3.9). As of the last 36 hours, I can send email, but not receive it, and this is the case on both computers.If I use Thunderbird,or Eudora - no problem.
I haven't changed any settings, or made any adjustments to my accounts on Mail.
Web connectivity is fine, and as I say, I can send emails using Mail.These are POP accounts (sending is SMTP).
Does anyone have any ideas?

I didn’t realize you had posted in both the Mac OS X 10.3 and Mac OS X 10.4 forums. I’ll repeat here my reply there with some additional questions that apply to Mail 2.x only.
What’s the problem exactly? Is it that Mail checks for mail but downloads nothing, or that it doesn’t even attempt to download, or what?
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list.
In Mail, open Window > Connection Doctor. What does it say?
Could it be that Mail or this particular account is in an “offline” state? Is the Mailbox > Go Online command enabled or disabled?
Go to Preferences > Accounts > Advanced. Is Include when automatically checking for new mail ON or OFF?
What’s the time interval chosen in Preferences > General > Check for New Mail?
Open the Account Info window by choosing Get Info (⌘I) from the Action menu (gear icon) located below the mailboxes list in the main Mail window. Does Mail display there the messages that it doesn’t download? Do they appear as already downloaded or as not downloaded yet (dot column)?

How to import ALL MAIL from Gmail to OSX Mail?

I am trying to migrate my mail system over to OSX Mail from Google Mail, but I can't seem to make "All Mail" show up as an option in OSX Mail, even though I have the folder checked in the Gmail settings to share with outside apps. I am on Yosemite and a MacBookPro.
How are others switching to OSX Mail from Gmail?

You open your email - edit - then select each email to delete.
If you have an imap account you can delete it from the server and it will reflect on yoru phone.

We use google app and IMAP for email. google recomends setting your mail client to save drafts in the IMAP draft folder not the defauld folder. How do I configure this?
