Unable to configure reporting services on Web(sharepoint) server where DB(SQL )server is insatlled on another machine.

Hi Team,
We have reporting services and sharepoint 2010 installed on one server and DB(Sql server2008 R2 )server installed on another machine. But we are unable to configure reporting(SSRS) on the web(sharepoint)server. Is there any similar configuration
done on any of your environments and can you please suggest us the workround/resolution.

  • Unable to configure Reporting Services 2012 after using 'netsh http delete urlacl' command and .EXE file also.

One of my servers quit responding during some troubleshooting of another issue and when I try
to reconfigure it I am receiving Results as follows:
    Reserving url http://+:80
The URL has already been reserved.
It appears to me that there is something with the Virtual Directory that is not allowing me to use it or
overwrite it.  If I change the name or the port the new configuration works fine, however this is part of a scale-out test environment and I need to keep the virutal directory names the same.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled SSRS in an attempt to resolve, but that did nothing to this issue.
I have used 'netsh http delete  urlacl' command and deleted saved urls also but still am facing issue.
How can I manually list, delete, or edit  Virtual Directories in SSRS 2012?

    Hi Syed,
Based on my research, the issue can be caused by the default values for Report Server Web Service and Report Manager has already been reserved. In order to trouble shoot this issue, please refer to the following steps:
To check this issue, we can run the following command in the command windows:
netsh http show urlacl | find "Report"
It should returns the reserved URL as below:
    Reserved URL            :
    http://+:80/ReportServer/
    User:
    Reserved URL            :
    http://+:80/Reports/
    User:
Then we can delete the reserved URLs with the command below and recreate them to fix this issue:
    netsh http delete urlacl http://+:80/ReportServer/
    netsh http delete urlacl http://+:80/Reports/

  • Reporting Services 2012 in SharePoint 2010 - SQL database edition?

We currently have a SharePoint 2010 farm, running on a SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard database.  On one of the SharePoint 2010 servers, we have an instance of Reporting Services 2008 Enterprise running in SharePoint integrated mode.  (We require Enterprise
    for data-driven subscriptions)
We'd like to upgrade to Reporting Services 2012 for Data Alerts and a few other new features.  However, I noticed something on
this blog stating that the SharePoint 2010 database server edition needs to match the Reporting Services edition. My concern is that I've not seen any official mention of this in Microsoft's documentation, and would like to avoid upgrading to Enterprise
for the SharePoint 2010 database if I can avoid it.
So, what I'd like to run is:
    SharePoint 2010
SharePoint database: SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard
    Reporting Services 2012 Enterprise
Reporting Services database: same as SharePoint database, so SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard
Is this possible?  Or do I need to upgrade the SharePoint database to SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise?
Alternatively, could I install a separate database engine just for Reporting Services to host its databases (for example, SQL Server 2012 Enterprise), so I don't have to mess around with upgrading the SP database?

While you don't need to upgrade your SQL 2008 R2 to 2012, you will need to install an instance of SQL 2012 & SSRS 2012. They can be side-by-side and independent of each other. The following blog post provides steps to do so,

  • Reporting Services 2012 for SharePoint and SQL Server Agent "Subscriptions and Alerts"

After installing Reporting Services for SharePoint (Denali) in my test farm, I'm trying to configure the "SQL Server Agent" access for Reporting Services.  From Central Admin I'm going to the Reporting Service applicaiton configuration screen and selecting
"Provision Subscriptions and Alerts".  I've tried both options on this screen.  I've manually executed the "download sql script" in SQL Server, as well as entering a user with SQL sys admin rights on the SQL server into the login fields on the screen.
The role and permissions have been created for the application pool service account, but Reporting Services is still trying to connect with the annonymous login because I'm getting the following alert each time I open the "Provision Subscriptions and Alerts"
    screen:
Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'
The "status" on the screen still shows "SQL Server Agent State cannot be determined".  Has anyone else seen this?
    Thanks!!

    Thanks for your reply!
    1) Looks like the new Reporting Services does not run as a Windows Service so it's not listed in the "Configure Service Accounts" pulldown.  As a result, I don't see how to set the service account.  It's only assigned to an application pool.
I installed it into an existing application pool and that application pool "is" in the list and has a domain service account already assigned.
    2) Which users need to be in here in order to configure the "Provision Subscriptions and Alerts" screen?  I already have the farm admin account which is the account I use when running Central Admin.
    3) As mentioned in #1, I've installed Reporting Services into an existing application pool with other service apps.
    4) This link is for Reporting Services 2008 R2 which is very different install process.  But I did follow the SQL Server Reporting Services 2012 RC0 installation instructions and the Reporting Services is functioning correctly with no errors.
I'm just not able to configure the sceduling the alerting with interfaces with the SQL Server Agent.
    Thanks!

  • Reporting Services in both SharePoint 2013 connected and native mode?

Is it possible to configure Reporting Services (SQL Server 2014) to support both SharePoint 2013 connected mode and local Report Server in native mode on the same server using multiple instances of RS? The reason for this setup is to avoid having to purchase
SharePoint Enterprise CALs for other users than analysts and still be able to publish standard reports to all employees.
Management and analysts -> Custom reports published through SharePoint 2013 Enterprise (SP2013 ECALs and SQL Server 2014 core license). Data alerts and Power View enabled if possible.
All employees -> Standard reports published through Native Mode Report Server (SQL Server 2014 core license). Possible subscriptions.
I find the official documentation a bit lacking in this area but can't find anything stating against the above. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could confirm before planning the installs.
What I'm aiming for is somewhat similar to the "2 Tier Topology" described at: Example
License Topologies and Costs for SQL Server 2014 Self-Service Business Intelligence
With the difference that there is a separate SQL Server 2014 server used both by SharePoint and as a standalone BI-server.
SharePoint EE + SQL Server 2014 EE
    Excel Services
SSRS Add-in (Reporting Services, Power View)
SQL Server DB for SP Content, Configuration and Service Application DB:s
SQL Server 2014 EE - SharePoint + Standalone for BI
    SSRS SharePoint Mode
    SSRS Native Mode
SSAS (Not in SharePoint mode, skipping PowerPivot for now. Would Power View still work?)
SQL Server DB for Data Warehouse
= 1 x SharePoint EE Server Licence, 2 x SQL Server 2014 EE Server Licenses?
    Deployment
Topologies for SQL Server BI Features in SharePoint - Actually gives a good overview in the section "PowerPivot for SharePoint
2013 and Reporting Services Three Server Deployment". Just remove PowerPivot Service from Server 1 and change the Analysis Services in Server 2 to a regular native multidimensional mode. Server 2 would also be used for native Reporting Services.
Fallback or even beneficial option to install SSRS in SharePoint mode on the SQL Server instance used for content and configuration?

    Hi Daniel Wikar,
As per my understanding, you want to install two SQL Server instances on the same server, and configure one of the Reporting Services to SharePoint integrated mode, another to native mode.
According to my knowledge, multiple instances of Reporting Services on the same computer, where one instance runs in SharePoint integrated mode and the other instance runs in native mode is supported. But we must run all report server instances at the same
level. For example, if we are using SQL Server 2014, all report server instances must be SQL Server 2014.
Besides, Analysis Services and Reporting Services can be installed as standalone servers, in scale-out configurations, or as shared service applications in a SharePoint farm. Installing the services in a farm enables BI features that are only available in
SharePoint, including PowerPivot for SharePoint and Power View.

  • Urgent: System.OutOfMemoryException in SQL Reporting Services 2005 Web Service

    Hi All,
On a production server box with 8GB of RAM, we are running a windows service which retrieves image format bytes of a particular report which results in pages ranging from 10 to 300 using Reporting Services 2005 Web Service.
Problem is when image bytes are being retrieved by using Render method for a report with more than around 30-40 pages,
Report Web Service throws an exception of type System.OutOfMemoryException. This does not happen with reports with smaller pages. Please note that we are retrieving high DPI image and we have no option but to do so.
Since the production server has 8 GB of RAM and we have even enabled the 3GB switch in boot.ini of Windows Server 2003, This problem still exists.
I have already read the contents of the article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909678 but as i mentioned even the large physical memory does not seem to help and shortening the report is not an option.
Also note that large number of records is also not a problem as our application works fine when we generate excel files instead of images.
Follwing is the detailed exception that we receive.

    Hi Hameer,
This error might be caused by the memory limit.  There are two settings that will affect the memory configuration.
When you render a report through the Reporting Services Web service, the Reporting Services Web service obtains the "MemoryLimit" setting from the Machine.config file.
A scheduled report is rendered by the Report Server Windows service. The Report Server Windows service obtains the "MemoryLimit" setting from the RSReportServer.config file.
These values represent a percentage of physical memory. You can adjust them to change the memory limit.
If there are any more questions, please let me know.
    Thanks.

  • How configure reporting services configuration with sql server business development studio

I have installed sql server 2008 r2 mixed mode(sql server authentication) with native mode
I want to run report using reporting  services config manager.
I made report in ssrs and I have configured reporting services configuration and  web url from RSCM( reporting  services config manager), i put on ssrs report.
report is build and deployed but when i take deployed url on Internet explorer, it shows the window below:
when I put the password nothing happened . if I put url in google chrome then it shows authentication required window like the same in IE
if I passed username=(levent/sa) and password then goes on window but does not see on page,  if I passed only administrator name (levent) not passed sql server login name (sa) then does not close 'Authentication window'
    'Computer connect net with modem'
before i tried on earlier PC, it worked fine.
setting is below link like this.

    what is the problem
    Plz give suggestion quickly

    Hi tusharshinde,
Per my understanding that when you log in the report Manager you got the pop-up window ask for credential, you try to enter  the SA account and the window account as the username and password but both not work, right?
Your issue related to the authentication. As you mentioned you have choose the ”Network Service” as the Service account, generally using this account in RSCM and RSWindowsNegotiate is added to the RSReportServer.config file as the default setting. With this
setting, the report server can accept requests from client applications requesting Kerberos or NTLM authentication. If Kerberos is requested and the authentication fails, the report server switches to NTLM authentication and prompts the user for credentials
unless the network is configured to manage authentication transparently.
The issue can be caused by many factors and please check one by one.
Did you enter the username and password for three times and got blank page or got some error? If you got some error, please provide the error information.
you can delete the specific Authorization Types inside rsreportserver.config  file, open path:” \Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10_50.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer\rsreportserver.config”.
Search the file for the “AuthenticationTypes” section. Remove RSWindowsNegotiate and RSWindoeBasic to ensure only “RSWindowsNTLM” is specified in the file rsreportserver.config file.
Before do any modification, back up the files and remember to restart the ReportServer instance in the RSCM after the modification.
If step1 doesn’t work ,please also do the trusted Site Setting in the Browser, article with details steps for your reference:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb630430.aspx
Please check the Report Manager's authentication mode.Have a look in the Report Manager's web.config file to check if you can find below information under the <system.web> (Path is “C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10_50.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting
    Services\ReportManager\Web.config ” ).
    authentication mode="Windows"
    identity impersonate="True"

  • Installed SQL Reporting Services 2012 on SharePoint 2013 Server. SQL Reporting Service not available In the list of runnning services or new service applications

Hi I'm trying to setup SQL reporting services in a SharePoint 2013 farm consisting of:
    4 WFE's
4 App Servers (NLB Central Admin x 4 servers)
4 App Severs for SSRS (Light limited SharePoint services running)
I've installed SSRS 2012 SP1 by following the guide (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg492276.aspx) on one of the SSRS SharePoint 2013 servers and ensuring Reporting Services - SharePoint and Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint Products is selected.
All completed without errors and I have even upgraded to SP2 for troubleshooting but no joy.
I've then gone into SharePoint Central Admin and I cannot see SQL Reporting Service available In the list of runnning services on the server I have just installed SSRS on and going to manage service applications I cannot see in the new dropdown menu SQL
    Reporting Services.
I have ran the following commands in the SHarePoint management shell:
    Install-SPRSService and Install-SPRSSeviceProxy
    and
    get-spserviceinstance -all |where {$_.TypeName -like "SQL Server Reporting*"} | Start-SPServiceInstance
The reply was that the service was already online on the server.
So in powershell all seems ok but it does not appear in central administration.
I have also moved Central Administration to the SSRS SharePoint server too.
Any other suggestions? Here is the same problem but in SP2010 (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/6a21cc05-1f9b-49ad-a9bb-44aa5b3ce312/action?threadDisplayName=after-installing-sql-reporting-services-service-for-sharepoint-2012-service-is-not-in-the-list-of)
In my lab environment of a 4 server SP2013 farm it worked immediately when i installed it on the app server (CA host) so I dont think it is my install strategy.
I guess my next attempt is to install SSRS on an app server with central administration hosted.
    Thanks

I had the same issue on 2 different environments.
I had 2 application servers. One had Central Administration. I installed SSRS on the other one and it never appeared in the Service Applications in SharePoint.
When I also provisioned Central Administration on the other application server and went to the service applications using Central Admin on that server, the SSRS service application was there.
Since then I always install SSRS on the server which hosts Central Admin. No issues then.

    Hi,

  • Activate Reporting Services on My Sharepoint SQL SERVER Databse ?

    Hi,
I have small sharepoint farm (1 FW and 1 SQL).
I can't find if it's recommended or not to activate and use Reporting Services on the SHAREPOINT SQL SERVER Instance ?
I wouldn't want to decrease my global farm performance.
    Thank you for helping.
    Regards

SSRS integrated must run on a server that has SharePoint installed and joined to the farm. That will have a significant impact on the SQL Database Engine server from a memory contention and CPU utilization perspective.

  • PowerShell command To configure Access Service 2010 in sharepoint 2013 server

    HI ,
can any body give reference for Powershell command for
    Access Service 2010
I am currently able to run powershell command for
    Access Service .
But in sharepoint 2013,Access Service 2010 is a new service, but i am not able to see any refernce blog for command.

    Hi,
According to your description, you want to configure Access Service 2010 in SharePoint 2013 server by using a Windows PowerShell.
Take a look at an articles about configuring services and service applications in SharePoint 2013:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee794878(v=office.15).aspx
Updates on how to do a lot of these (include
configure Access Service 2010 ) with PowerShell haven't really been released yet.
Here is an article about configuring a service application by using a Windows PowerShell script (SharePoint Server 2010), you can use as a reference:

It's often only a problem of the service dependencies. SCVMM starts to fast, SQL server on the same machine in not initialized yet. Here are working service dependencies to ensure SQL server is initializes before SCVMM starts.
You can set the service dependencies directly in regedit (as always: be careful modifying the registry ...)
Here is the content of a reg file setting the dependency.

  • SSL Cert for 2008 R2 Reporting Services that is installed on a Failover Cluster - server address mismatch?

    I utilized the idea from
http://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertip/2778/how-to-add-reporting-services-to-an-existing-sql-server-clustered-instance/ to install 2008 R2 Reporting Services on a new Clustered SQL instance.  In short, create the new Clustered SQL instance on Node1,
installing Reporting Services with it.  Then on Node2, Add a Failover Cluster Node (without choosing Reporting Services); following that up with starting the SQL setup.exe with a cmd to bypass a check so that I can then install the Reporting Services
feature on Node2.  It points out using the SQL Cluster Network name for connecting to Reporting Services.
I verified upon failover that I could still access the Reports and ReportServer URLs.  However, when wanting to add an SSL certificate to the RS configuration, I run into the warning of "mismatched address - the security certificate presented by
this website was issued for a different website's address", where I can continue and get to the Reports or ReportManager URLs.
I played with different certs (internal CA created) and SANs and other things, but I still get this error with the cert.  The Reports URL, for example, is <a href="https:///Reports">https://<SQLClusterNetworkName>/Reports, and the
cert has a CN and Friendly Name of SQLClusterNetworkName (with SAN of DNS: SQLClusterNetworkName.<domain>), but the error still happens.
What am I missing to eliminate the mismatched address warning when using the SQLClusterNetworkName as the base of the URLs?

I got it working by using the FQDN as the common name on the SSL cert, with FQDN in RS URLs.

    Hi ,

in that table we have 25 column, my requirement is all list data  move to  sql data table[ what ever columns mapping to list--->data table that data store in data table reaming column is  Null]
     using grammatically not in BCS

    Hello,
You can create SQL connection and use Datareader to read from SQL.Firs create a connection string and put this string in web application web.config file of your sharepoint site.
Now use below code to call your connectionstring in your webpart.
    SqlConnection con = new SqlConnection(System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["ConnectionString"]);
Here is link to read the data from SQL:
    http://www.akadia.com/services/dotnet_data_reader.html
Here is one MSDN link to read SP list data:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd490727%28v=office.12%29.aspx
