  • Unable to connect after update

    Dear all
maybe it is the same issue, but since the latest updates I am receiving this message:
Unable to connect to remote PC. Please verify Remote Desktop is enabled, the remote PC is turned on and available on the network, and then try again.
Anyone an idea how to tackle this?
    Thanks!

I am getting this same error after the update. I can use RDP from a windows machine to remote in to my work PC but the RDP on the mac just gets this error

  • Ethernet proxy unable to connect after sleep

Late 08' Macbook Pro. OSX Lion.
I live at university so I have to connect to the internet through an ethernet cable and a proxy. Usually all I need to do is open my broswer, it will ask me to type in my username and password then I'll be all set.
Ever since yesterday however, I am starting to have trouble connecting to the internet. I left my computer on sleep the night before (at the login screen, immediately after a restart). Yesterday morning when I tried to get on the internet, all I get is a time out connection error. After restarting my computer numerous times and ran the network dianogstic, nothing seems to work. Eventually it just fixed itself after a while.
After restarting my computer today, I found myself unable to connect to the internet. I have tried everything again, restarting my computer a dozen of times. But I still can't get a connection. I can't even connect to the local network.
I am 100% it has nothing to do with my university network, because I booted my MBP with Windows on Bootcamp and my internet worked perfectly. I have never had a problem like this when I was on Leopard/Snow Leopard. I read there is a lot of Wi-fi connectivity issue since Lion upgrade, maybe this is the same problem?
Is this a known issue? Is there a way to fix it?
(ps. I am currently on my iPhone 3G hotspot. It's working perfectly.)

I have found part of the problem. Everytime Lion wakes up from sleep, it screws up the address for the DNS server. I figured I had to delete all my network locations and add them back in which forces the OS to renew the DNS server address. It doesn't work everytime, but if I do it a few times it eventually works.

how do I connect my i phone 5s to my home wifi? keeps saying unable to connect

  • Unable to connect after modem and router restart

    Hi Everybody
Some times i don't get any internet connection from my cable modem (Motorola 5100 surfboard). In such cases, Time Warner cable recommends restarting the modem. I am connected to the internet in the following sequence:
Cable Modem --> Router --> PC
    The way it should work:
    Switch off the router
    Switch off the cable modem
Restart the cable modem (all the lights should be on)
    Restart the router
    Connected to the Internet!
However, things don't work this way. If I connect the PC to the cable modem directly after the modem restart, I am able to get online
If I try to connect with the router in the middle, I get no connection. Usually, I have to follow this sequence (instead of the one above):
    Switch off the cable modem
Re-set the Linksys router (loose all my settings)
    Switch off the router
Restart the cable modem (all the lights should be on)
    Restart the router
    Connected to the Internet!
Re-configure the router manually to get back my previous settings
Need your help to figure out why a simple re-start of the modem and router (in that sequence) doesn't work and I have to re-set the router to get on-line
One more thing - I backed up my router configuration (Administration --> Config Management --> Backup) and after getting online, restored it. Thought It would work, but no luck. Couldn't connect via the router. Had to follow the above sequence (again) to get online and then manually had to re-configure all router settings
    Rourter - WRT54G. Version 2
    Firmware version - v4.21.1
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Step should be :
    1) Shutdown the computer.
    2) Unplug the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for 30 seconds.
    3) Unplug the router’s power cable and wait for 30 seconds.
    4) Plug in the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for its lights to appear stable.
    5) Plug in the router's power cable once the modem’s lights appear stable.
    6) Power on the computer on and test the Internet connection.

One very useful defense against War Drivers is to hide your network...
You are fooling yourself if you believe that. Even if this option is enabled, the network name is still broadcast between the base station and any connected clients. It only takes a second to discover the "hidden" network name. You would expect "War Drivers" to know this.
The SSID is broadcast in clear initially between the client and the access point when setting up the connection. Once a secure assocation is made, it is then encypted.
If a War Driver wants to park and sniff for long periods in the hopes that they will pick up the initial contact, there is not much you can do. In the meantime, setting up a closed network is still one line of defence against unauthorised access to your WiFi network.
Of course if no encryption is used, the SSID is in the clear in all packets but still needs to be sniffed to be revealed.

  • Firefox unable to connect after update!

I performed the Firefox upgrade to 4.0.1 today and now Firefox and IE8 won't connect to internet. Safari is able to connect as well as 2 other computers so I know the internet is working. Also IM programs work pointing to the internet working.
I tried removing Firefox and IE still wouldn't connect, I then tried to reinstall to Firefox 3.6.17 and it completed, but it won't open.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.

  • IPhone USB/BT/Wifi Unable to Connect after iTunes 10.7 Update

If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated!
    Background:
I received and installed the iTunes 10.7 (21) last night.  This morning, my MBP would not connect to my I phone via Wifi/USB/BT. I did some digging and apparently this is an issue with this iTunes update.  I have subsequently removed iT 10.7 and reinstalled iT 10.6.3 and successfully retrieved the archive library.  That all seems to be working well.
By way of trouble shooting the iPhone 4, I've been able to establish link to the Wifi and USB with my work Windows laptop, and wifi with my iPad 3 MacBook, so I'm reasonably certain that it is working correctly.
    Hardware:
MacBook Pro:13/i5; OS 10.6.8 with all updates.
    iPhone 4: iOS 5.1.1
I really don't want to update OS/iOS at this time for a number of reasons... like I really use the maps and would like to wait until that issue is fixed for iOS6.
So, what have I missed?  What tweak did the 10.7 update do that I can undo?
I'm sickeningly dependent upon my iPhone/hotspot and this is most distressing!
Anyone know how to correct this?
    Best regards,
    John

    A bit more...
iPhone4 connects with the cable, I can sync, update, etc... just no wifi/BT/USB data...

  • Unable to connect after update to 8.0.13

Hi, I've been using the previous version for some time without any issues. Since I updated to 8.0.13 I can't connect to my remote machine anymore.
    I'm using Yosemite 10.10.2.
The remote machine is behind a TS gateway.
When connecting, the app shows a black screen with "Negotiating credentials..." and never leaves that screen.
With a lot of effort I was able to find and download an older version (8.0.7), which works perfectly.
Please test your updates before submitting them to the AppStore.

Hi, I am having the same problem.... I need to downgrade ASAP.
Can you help me finding an older version of Remote Despot Client for MAC?
Sure, here is a link to 8.0.7 dmg:

  • Unable to connect after update to ios 5

I have recently updated my ipod touch 2nd generation to ios 5. when im connecting to my home network, it finds it ok then all i get is the little spinner next to it. ive checked my iphone and this shows up as a tick and is working fine. everything else on the network is also working fine. i do get the bars showing up on the wifi connection but when i try to go on safari, mail or apps it says theres no internet connection.
ive tried all of the main points ive seen in the forums. Powering off, resets etc. but nothing changes.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you powered off and then back on your router?
Does the iPod successfully connect to other networks?
When you go to network properties what IP addres, gateway and DNS server is listed?

Is your whole network down, or just Firefox? Are there any error messages?
Contact your provider and have them test your service. Also, unplug your
modem. Wait about 30 seconds before plugging it in.
Some problems occurs when your Internet security program was set to trust the
previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as
trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet
    again;
    * Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version)
    * Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs, then add it back. For detailed instructions, see
