Unable to connect Airport extreme to windows 7.

I use a pc with windows 7, but have had problem with the previous D-link router I used, so therefore bought an Airport extreme ysterday to connect the iPads and iPhones we have. After installing the Airport Utility from the CD, the Airport extreme shows up in Airport Utility. However I cannot use the Airport utility since it can´t read the "configuration" and then I get the error code 10057. I have tried to reset the Airport extreme, tried to upgrade the software for Airport extreme but all I get is that the light on the front flashes amber. Any thoughts?

I will visit the store tomorrow where I bought it (if it turns out to be DOA), but I thought I´d try this first. Unfortunately I don´t have another computer, but I think the problem might have to do with the computer trying to identify/connect to the Airport. Because in Airport Utiltiy I can see it (with a yellow/amber light next to it), and the IP-address is there (although it is 10.0.1.1 and in the manual it says it should be between 10.0.1.2 and 10.0.1.176 or something). It also says that the software should be upgraded from 7.5.1 to 7.5.2, so I believe that the Airport extreme is "alive" but not to connected. On the other hand that´s just a guess based on these assumtions...

  • What cables to use when connecting Airport Extreme and Windows XP?

I have a DSL modem and Airport Extreme. Right now I am getting Internet with the cable plugged into "Ethernet" and is connected to my computer. If I want to connect my Airport Extreme to my computer, where do I plug in everything?
Thank you for your help - I am a complete wireless newbie!

You don't seem to be making much sense, please can you clarify your network and your computer.
You have a DSL modem with an Ethernet port?
Do you have an Airport Extreme Base Station?
What computer do you want to connect by Airport, your iMac listed in your profile (or as this is an Airport for Windows forum) a Windows PC?
Does this Windows PC have a wireless card or not?

how do I connect my airport extreme to windows 8.1

Connect an Ethernet cable between the U-verse router's LAN port to the WAN (circle-of-dots) port on the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS). Since you will have two routers in series, you will want to reconfigure the AEBS as a bridge. (ref: AirPort Utility > Select the AEBS > Manual Setup > Internet > Internet Connection tab > Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode))

How do I connect airport extreme to seagate hard drive using windows?

First the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) cannot share out an external HDD attached to its USB port unless it is formatted in either HFS+ or FAT16/32. It will not work if the HDD is formatted in either NTFS or ExFAT.
If the HDD is formatted properly, when you access the AEBS with the AirPort Utility, does the HDD show up properly on the Disks tab of the utility?
If it does, then you would access the HDD as any other network share, using the following format: //servername/sharename. In the case of the AirPort Disk (a HDD attached to the USB port of either an Extreme or Time Capsule), the "servername" would be the Extreme's Base Station Name, and the "sharename" would be the volumename of the HDD.

How to setup the airport extreme for window xp

Sorry, I forgot to mention a few points:
    1) I don't have the Airport Extreme base station;
    2) My PowerBook is connect to the internet thru wired connection with the Built-in Ethernet;
    3) The Airport is turned on, but my PSP's scan cannot locate the PowerBook at all (while it find someone else's network)
So, I wonder if I can just connect my PSP to the built-in Airport in the PowerBook directly. So that I can have internet access on my PSP.

  • Connect Airport Extreme to existing router without ethernet cable

I am looking to connect my Airport Extreme to an existing router without the use of the ethernet cable.  The existing router is on the ground floor whilst I would like to install the Airport Extreme in the first floor to improve WiFi range on the 1st floor.  I am able to connect Airport Extreme to the router with the ethernet cable (in which case both the devices have to be close to one another on the ground floor) but unable to get Airport Extreme set up without the ethernet cable.  Is it possible to connect Airport Extreme to the existing router on a non-wired basis (i.e. without the ethernet cable) and if yes, how would be I able to do it.  Any help would be appreciated.

The AirPort Extreme can connect wirelessly.....IF.....your existing router is also another Apple router.
Is that the case here?  If yes, what model number is your existing Apple router?
If no, you will need to continue to connect the AirPort Extreme using a wired Ethernet connection.

ARD only works with Windows computers if the Windows computer is running VNC server software.  Even then it can only control and observe.  Do you have this installed?

  • Connect AirPort Extreme Base Station to air card

How do you connect AirPort Extreme Base Station to Verizon Air Card?

Sorry, but the Air Card cannot be used with the USB port on the AirPort Extreme because that port will only work with a hard drive and/or a printer.
Suggest that you check with Verizon to see if they have an adapter or wireless router for the Air Card that will provide an Ethernet signal to the AirPort Extreme.

He might be trying to do so to promote his products or may be there was some misunderstanding.
Airport Extreme will work as a wireless router supporting upto 50 systems including Mac computers, PCs, iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, Apple TV and virtually all 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi wireless devices — all at the same time.

  • Cable needed to connect airport extreme?

How do I connect airport extreme to older speakers which are connected to older receiver amp? Do I need USB to radio jack? Have Itunes on IMAC , os 10.4.11. I know I need to update os sy to 10.5. I have new Iphone. I want to use remote app to send music to speakers.

There is not an audio port on the AirPort Extreme, so it cannot be used to stream audio per your question.
An AirPort Express will do the job.

  • Wifi connection AirPort Extreme with IP-camera

I can't establish wifi connection Airport Extreme with IP-camera. At the same time cable connection is fine, but wifi not.
    Please, give me an advise.

You need to create a wireless network on the AirPort Extreme, and then you probably will want to assign a compatible static LAN IP address to the camera so that you can port-forward from the router to the camera.

  • All devices connect to internet via AirPort Extreme except Windows

    Hi -
We've got an AirPort Extreme 7.6.4 set up using Bridge Mode, receiving DHCP service from an OS X Server 10.8.4. Macs and wireless devices of all makes and models work fine, but we are increasingly finding that Windows PCs are unable to access the internet, despite making a wireless connection to the AirPort.
This is difficult to troubleshoot, as the Windows PCs are invariably clients' computers and they don't tend to have much access to their control panel, but any ideas will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    z

Thanks so much for the response.
There are no other routers providing DHCP service, only the Mac server. We do not have NetBIOS enabled.
The Windows PC clients are not receiving an appropriate IP address -- they are self-assigned 169.x.x.x. The PCs *do* receive a correct IP address if I hardwire them.

  • I am unable to get Airport Extreme WiFi to work with Windows 8 Sony Laptop

My Airport Extreme WiFi works with my Mac Book Pro, iphones, ipad and DVR's, but will not work WiFi with my Sony VAIO laptop running Windows 8.  Although it does work with the laptop using a ethernet cable.  Has anyone else had this issue and can you please tell me how to resolve the problem?

Windows can have issues with the wireless name.
Make sure the name conforms to windows standard.
    Short, 2-20 characters
    No spaces,
    Pure alphanumeric.
eg AEwifi is a good wireless name.
Fred Blog's Airport Extreme Wireless87AD34 is a really bad name.
Test also by removing the security and just see if you can connect if the short name doesn't help.
WPA2 Personal is really the only security worthy of the name and the password should be mix of upper and lower case plus numbers.. keep it pure alphanumeric also.
Set fixed wireless channels at least for 2.4ghz may help, depending on your location geo standards wise.
Test 11, 6, 1 in that order. With no security briefly. And a short name. (different name on the two bands is also a good idea).
Then wireless is not compatible.. you should download another driver for whatever wireless card the Sony uses.. intel most likely and they have a reputation as lousy. So download latest and a few prior to that as well.
