Unable to connect dell xps 802.11ac laptop to cisco 1250 AP?
I have a new dell xps 15inc with the dell 802.11ac wireless card but it will not connect to the Cisco 1250 AP, however it connect to other APs just fine. I wondering if the Cisco 1250 AP is just to old and if there is any documentation proving this.
Thanks ahead of time.
On the dell wireless card, what happens if you force the card to use 802.11 a/b/g only and disable 802.11n/ac?

Unable to connect wirelessly on an Acer laptop using Vista
I have a Windows XP connected wirelessly to my Verizon Router M1424WR, but I am unable to connect wirelessly on an Acer laptop using Vista. The Vista can only connect with Ethernet. It will not accept the WEP key.
#1 Check the level of WEP. Two examples: 64 Bit, 128 Bit.
#2 And check to be sure, if you use a WEP password of Hex or Ascii.

Unable to connect to AE 802.11n through airport utility -despite resetting
Hi all,
I do realize that there are a number of threads adressing what seems to be my problem, but none of the solutions have worked for me.
I have a 2 year old AE 802.11n that has given me flawless wireless network for a long time now. I have for some time been unable to connect to it and change settings through the Airport utility, for example I was unable to update to the 7.4.1 firmware, so I am (was) running 7.3.2.
Today I wanted to setup a external hard drive connected to the aiport, so I needed the Airport utiltiy. After numerous tries, including a direct connection through an ethernet cable, I was still unable to connect. I was getting the infamous 'Make sure your Apple wireless device is plugged in and in range of your computer or connected via Ethernet and try again. (-6728)' error message, despite being able to detect the base fine.
It seemed that resetting the airport had helped a lot of other people, but Alas!! I used soft reset, hard reset and factory reset (presseing the reset button while plugging in the power), and still no luck. The only change is that now my network is no longer working (not surprising), and the base name has changed to factory default. What puzzles me is that Aiport utility states that the base is running the 7.3.2 firmware, while I am certain that it came with version 5.something as factory default. I have just left it without power for a few hours, and still the same.
So, how do I connect to my beloved AE again?
Thanks!
Oh, and I have the same problem on my 3 year old iMac and my brand new MacBook Pro....
Nikolaj 'getting desperate' HTPI found a workaround:
I removed my new (5.4.1) version of Airport utility, and re installed 5.3.2 (downloaded here: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/application_updates/airportutility53 2forleopard.html)
I could then access the Base, setup my AirDisk, update the firmware, and AFTER the firmware update, reinstall Airport utility 5.4.1. It seems that everything is working now. -
Connect airport extreme 802.11ac to hp 3052a
How can I create a wireless connection for an hp 3052a to an apple airport extreme 802.11ac. I can connect the printer direct into the extreme and print from the mac desktop but i can not access it from ipads or other computers. I would really appreciate any help. Thanks,
Hi voled65,
I can help you print from your iPads. First and foremost, if you have a USB cable going from the printer to the router, I suggest you disconnect it and configure the printer for the wireless network. If you are unsure how to set the printer up on the wireless network, click on this link > Installing the Printer Software for a Wireless Network Connection
To troubleshoot the inability of printing from the iPad, open the following link and select "What if a 'No AirPrint Printers Found' message displays on my Apple device?" > How to Use Apple's AirPrint Over a Wireless Network.
I hope this helps.
Please click the Thumbs up icon below to thank me for responding.

Will a 802.11n Macbook Pro connected to a 802.11ac router have slower internet?
I've noticed that in the past few days while playing games that my ping is significantly higher than before. Could this be the cause?
Internal Network Speeds (note that these are maximums, in real life expect half to two thirds)
802.11
G 54Mb/s
N 300Mb/s
AC 1000Mb/s
So, with your internet speed of 56Mb/s a G router would cause a very minor reduction in speed. N and AC routers would have no effect on speed.
Your ping time is 16ms, this is a good ping time, I don't see any reason at your end why it is not working for you.
Have you installed anything new, apps or peripheral hardware lately.
Oh, and you do not have a DSL connecion, you have cable. -
Unable to connect to internet with hp laptop using xfinity router/modem
Hi,I have a hp pavilion computer model dv9910us with windows vista hom premium OS. I have an xfinity wireless gateway device modem/router. I have had this at another location and it worked using verizon with a separate modem and router. I also tried it at a xfinity location with a separate modem and router and it worked. I got a separate wireless adapter and installed that and disabled the atheros ar5007 adapter in the device manager. will that atheros 2011 adapter work with this model computer using the windows vista home premium os. If so, could I leave the ar5007 disabled and install the 2011 to make sure it's ok before uninstalling the ar5007. I'm really a novice and just stumbling my way through this. Any help is appreciated.
Hi: You should enable the atheros wireless card, and install this driver. It will have no effect on the other one you are using. http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=5060881&swItemId=ob_108905_1&swEnvOid=4059# Then shut down the PC, remove the usb adapter, reboot, and see if you can connect via the atheros card.

Issue for connecting iPad to Reflection in laptop via Cisco WLC
Hi guys, recently we have purchased Reflection - an AirPlay mirroring software. Basically install Reflection in the laptop and you can view the screen of the iPad or iPhone via wireless network. we have tested in home wireless network no problem, but when connect to the cisco network, the iPad didn't recognize the REFLECTION installed in the laptop.
we are running WLC 5508, WLAP AP-1331AG,
we can ping from laptop to the iPad
laptop and ipad can access network without any issue.
there is no any application port has been blocked between the client via wifi
extra details for REFLECTION: http://www.reflectionapp.com/
would appreciate if you have any guestion or expereienced same issue and know the answer... Cheers. Royhi all, thanks for the swift reply. especially to Scott, the link is very usful, I have confgured the WLC according to the documentation, but problem still persists.
The Reflection is basically acting as Apple TV and in the home wireless network it works fine.
Connection method: both Reflection installed in laptop and iPad is in same VLAN 38, which is wireless Vlan. both connected via wifi, I can ping each other, so I don't think there is need to confgure the multicasting routing in the router.
The configuration in the WLC:
1, CONTROLLER -- GERNERNAL -- MULTICAST -- enable global multicast mode on -- enable IGMP Snooping on.
2, CONTROLLER -- GERNERNAL -- AP Multicast Mode - Multicast 239.0.0.0
3, WLANs -- select the WLAN ID -- confgured the multicast interface
4, Monitor -- Multicast link - displays following details.
Group address
Vlan
MGID
224.0.0.251
38
1161
224.0.255.135
38
1160
239.255.255.250
38
1159
5, I can also see the multicast packet broadcast from laptop to 224.0.0.251.
I have read some of your guys discussion about issue with Bonjour, but my siuation is a bit different, both device are connecing via wifi, the REFLECTION is not connected to a switch. Any advice? -
my ipad wont accept any passwords, i am unable to connect to my wifi even though my password is correct and other laptops etc have no problem connecting.
The ipad can find my wifi connection but just wont accept the password. connected with no problem in the Apple store.
any suggestions,
thanks.Does the iPad connect to other networks?
Does the iPod see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iPod connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Dell XPS Laptop Touch Screen Inputs Interpreted as Panning Photoshop CS6
I have been working with Adobe Illustrator for a little while now and decided that I would like to try Photoshop for digital art. I downloaded the 30 day trial version of Adobe Illustrator CS 6 about three days ago and noticed immediately that touching my laptop’s touch screen will only allow me to pan using the Hand Tool in Photoshop. I have never had this problem in Adobe Illustrator, as using the touch screen acts just as if I were clicking the left mouse button and dragging the cursor around the screen. I have a Dell XPS 15 - L502X laptop with an integrated touch screen (the entire 15” screen is Multi-touch sensitive). It is running N-Trig DuoSense Digitizer with the latest drivers. Is there some simple setting change that can be done within Photoshop CS6 to make it recognize a touch screen input as a normal left click and thus allow me to draw on it using the pen, pencil, or paintbrush tool? I find it quite odd that I have no problems with this in Illustrator CS6. Could it be that this tablet-like touch screen input is restricted on the trial version? I am interested in buying Photoshop so I can use it whenever I’d like for longer than the 30 day trial allows, but I certainly don’t want to buy it if I cannot use my stylus on the touch screen to draw. Any help is much appreciated!
Here is a link to a youtube video that I put up showing the problem. The first program shown in the video is Adobe Illustrator CS6 using the Paintbrush tool. The second program shown is Adobe Photosop CS6 using the pencil tool. I draw the line in Ps using the mouse pad and then attempt to draw (still using the pencil tool) on the touch screen yielding only scrolling with the hand tool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zd1NOBway4o

This is a bit awkward, but until I find a real solution, this works just fine: when you want to use the touch screen for CS6, hold down the mouse button. You may have to use the mouse to tap the tools you want, but at least there's a temporary solution.

My ipod 4G won't connect to my wifi at home with new router. Says "unable to connect" and won't give me any other options. Have tried resetting network connections. I don't want to lose anything. I have tried turning everything off and back on again. Desktop and laptop are working fine. Sometimes it turns on suddenly and I can use it for like 20 mins but then shuts off again. Same thing is happening with my dad's iphone, Help.
Does the iOS device connect to other networks?
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

I have a 16GB iPod touch that suddenly stopped connecting to the internet last night. Everytime I try to get mail, or access anything with Safari I get a message saying that it can't connect to the server. Also I've plugged it in to my home computer but it won't connect to iTunes either. I haven't updated to iOS8 yet as I didn't have enough space for it and I had planned on deleting all my music files, updating the software and putting whatever music I could fit back on to the device afterward, but now I'm hesitant to do that as I have no way to get any of the files back onto the device. Could this be because I haven't updated to iOS8 yet? I've been having other problems such as apps crashing unexpectedly lately as well, for example my music shuts off randomly and apps such as Twitter and Tumblr and a few others crash on launch. I'm definitely not a genius when it comes to technology by any means, so I have no idea what's causing this problem or how to fix it, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Here's my setup: Internet <> Comcast/xFinity supplied cable modem <> new Apple Time Capsule <> iPhone 4 & MacBook Pro (see below for hardware details)
Internet on my iPhone 4 has been acting slow since yesterday evening. My MacBook Pro was running fine, but just to be sure I checked the Comcast website to see that I have only used 50GB of my allotted 250 GB of data for the month, so it's not that.
I decided it must be a problem with just my iPhone, so I opened up the multitasking bar and quit everything in there manually, and then I held the on/off button, and slid the slider to power off. When I started back up, I could not connect to the same WiFi I had just been using. I tried to reconnect and nothing. I tried to forget the network and try again, nothing. I tried to reset all network settings, nothing.
I have tried all the steps listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398 "iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections"
Toggled WiFi off and back on
Made sure I am in range of the router (it's about 8 feet away and my iPhone reports full signal from the network)
Made sure all the hardware is connected and on
Checked other devices (I'm successfully connected with my MacBook Pro right now)
Checked for router firmware upgrades (I have a new Time Capsule from Apple with the current 7.5.2 firmware which I've been using for a month)
Restarted my device (again)
Checked that the network is available (it does show on my iPhone)
Restarted my Time Capsule
Checked my router configuration as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3727 "Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network" which involves simply checking to see that WMM is turned on, also stating that WMM cannot be enabled or disabled for Apple's AirPort products.
Reset my network settings (again)
I have searched and searched for fixes to this problem, and I have additionally tried:
Enabling/disabling Airplane Mode
Disabling any network password protection/encryption (no luck), re-enabling it (no luck)
Changing the network password
Checking for hardware addresses present in iOS Settings > General > About (they are present and not zero'ed out)
Switching Bluetooth off (nothing) and back on (nothing)
....and probably a few other things I can't think of right now
I have yet to try:
The "Freezer Trick" which apparently involves chilling the iPhone to get a temporary fix?
Restoring the iPhone (I would really rather not)
A different WiFi network (other than my own Time Capsule home network or guest network, both of which give the same Unable to Connect error)
So, after all of that, are there any more ideas? Is there a reliable solution to this issue? So far I've just seen a lot of "mess with the settings," "the freezer trick worked," and "blame it on the iOS 4 update."
Here are my hardware details:
iPhone 4; iOS 5; 32GB; AT&T; no cellular data plan (July 2011)
TimeCapsule6,113; Firmware 7.5.2; 2TB (September 2011)
MacBook Pro 3,1; Mac OS X (10.7.2); 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo; Hi-Res Display; 4GB RAM; 500GB HD (August 2007)
...and the Time Capsule config:
http://cl.ly/BCUtUgh. Apparently "messing with it" is still the answer. I decided to try the LinkSys router I was using before I bought the Time Capsule, and my iPhone connected with no problem.
I went through the steps again, and after rebooting my Time Capsule this time, I can connect again. The troubling thing it that this started with a power-off of my iPhone. No changes or installations, just a reset. Am I going to have to reboot my Time Capsule (which has no power switch, just a cord I have to unplug) every time I reboot my iPhone?
