Unable to connect devices to iMac Bluetooth

How do I connect my iPhone5 and iPad to the iMac for handoff via Bluetooth.  Get a Message: Network is unavailable. Make sure Network access enabled".
I get to pair, compare the code number, but they do not connect.

An iPhone will only pair to a computer (Mac or Windows) for personal hotspot and then only if supported by your cellular plan. You do NOT pair for Handoff/Continuity. Bluetooth just needs to be turned on and the devices need to be in range of each other. More information: Bluetooth: Why can't I pair my iPhone or iPad with my computer?
The following may help with problems with Handoff, although there seem to be a lot of reports of issues: Get help using Continuity with iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite

its a programming device with a VGA outlet. it can be connected to screens and projectors with ease just as you would with a pc.
but for work purposes it has to be connected to an imac.
my cilent would also like the ability to easily switch between the imac and this programming device.
i have read online that youill need the thunderbolt to VGA adaptor.
but have not seen any replies saying that it has worked ?
    Thanks
    Anthony

What do the manufacturer of the device recommend?

  • Unable to connect wife's iMac to Safari/internet?

home network (Arris modem) is able to connect children's iMacs x2/2 iPads/2 mini iPads/4 iPhones/my MBP, Canon printer, but just recently booted off the wife's iMac? followed recommendations on other topics to power-cycle/"restart" the modem, and also the KeyChain access was reset, but still no internet access. spoke with both the cable company and Apple and after lengthy sessions, ended up connecting the iMac via ethernet cable ONLY! any other suggestions so we can utilize it's wireless capabilities? please help...thx!

The problem I have is that you have had expert advice from Apple  and your ISP, I cannot match that.
If you want to run Network Utility, do a spotlight search for it, and post the results of the info page for your WiFi interface. Then run a netstat of the routing table information, I only need the IP 4, ignore internet6.
With that information we can try some things, disconnect the Ethernet while doing this.
If you have done all this with Apple and your ISP then I may not be able to help.

  • Unable to connect to PC via Bluetooth

I read several threads, but couldn't find an appropriate answer. I am doing the following to try to connect iPhone 4 to my laptop:
    1. On iPhone: turn BT on.
    2. On PC: Add new BT device. The laptop finds the iPhone.
    3. To pair the devices, I am asked to confirm a security code on both laptop and iPhone. Once confirmed on both devices, a message displays saying that they're paired.
    4. On the iPhone, however, the little status indicator just keeps spinning; on the laptop, I get a message saying that it could not connect to the remote device.
Is the iPhone only capable of connecting to a BT headset? Is it supposed to be able to connect to a PC????

" Is it supposed to be able to connect to a PC????"
    No.
It can only connect to a computer for tethering ( where allowed).
Fiel transfer via bluetooth is NOT supported.
You can connect to telephone headsets/handsfree devices, stereo headphones/speakers, a computer for tethering purposes and some peer-to-peer apps from the app store.

  • Unable to connect MacBook to iMac

    Hi.
I have an iMac and a MacBook and up until recently I was able to mount the iMac's HD as a volume on the MacBook so that I could move some files between the two machines.
Now, however, it doesn't happen. I click on Finder's Network and select my iMac as normal. But when I enter my password and click OK it looks like everthing has happened as it should bit the mounted drive is just not visible on the desktop or in Finder.
When I try to mount the iMac drive again the volume is ghosted.
I have checked Finder's preferences and have ensured the the Connected Servers option is ticked in both General and Sidebar.
I can mount my MacBook's HD as normal on my MacBook so I can still move the files around. Can anyone help me see my iMac's HD from my MacBook again?
    iMac Intel CD 17", 1.83, 1GB RAM, 250GB HD   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    OK...
I now think it's something to do with my Home folder on my iMac.
When using my iMac I have still have access to my Home folder through my Finder sidebar, but when I navigate to iMac > Users > my home folder is not visible.
When connecting from the MacBook the following are availabe:
    My iMac
    My Home Folder
    My connected iPod
I can access both the iMac and iPod but not my home folder. When I'm connected via iMac I cannot see my iMac's home folder in the Users folder.
    Any ideas?

Check out the troubleshooting in the article below. You issue may stem from not being able to back up your iPhone before syncing can occur. Check out the article below to resolve issues with that error.

  • We used apple configurator to supervise lap tops and now the lap top we used failed and has been damagedd- We cannot connect to ipads using the mobile cart or individually  with the new lap top- we get the massage "unable to connect device.. suggestions??

I am not sure if there is a way to erase the ipads as they have resrictions in each pad from the original configurator..

I had this exact issue.  However, I was not even able to "see" the pending downloads when I tried fixing them using the solution above.
In another thread, I saw that someone mentioned an issue with the use of the "&" (ampersand) symbol in your appleID information.  I had recently changed my name and it did include the & symbol in my name (not the appleID itself).  I replaced the ampersand with the word "and" and saved.  I then went to the iTunes store and logged into my account there and made the same change on my billing name.
Voila!  I could now access the 7 pending downloads on my desktop Mac and download them, and all iPhone/iPad/Ipods were again able to download from the app store.
incidentally, I had several support tickets open on this issue and never once did the Apple person even suggest that this might be the issue.

Since upgrading to Mavericks, I have been unable to sync devices (specifically ipad mini and iphone 4s) to my MId 2013 Imac . They wil rapidly connect and disconnect, and I'm unable to do anything with the device. This happens with both USB ports.  Any suggestions?
MacBook Air, OS X Mountain Lion (10.9.1)

Obviously, syncing an iOS device with iTunes over USB is still supported in Mavericks. Calendar and contact syncing with iTunes is no longer supported. That has nothing to do with your problem.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

  • HT204409 unable to connect my ipad to my wireless internet - all other devices including another ipad, ipods, laptops etc.. connect fine?

Can't seem to connect one of my ipads to our wireless network at home - every other device in the house is connected?
    any suggestions?

Did it ever connect? How about to other networks?
    Try this:
Reboot ipad by pressing and holding both the home and sleep/wake buttons at the same time until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go. Then try to connect to network.
Go to settings, Toggle airplane mode on/off. Make sure bluetooth is off. Turn on wif (airplane mode off). Try to connect.
    Reset Network Settings
Go to settings/general/reset/reset network settings. Then try to connect to network.
If its your home router, then reboot router by unplugging for 5-10min. (do this while you're resetting network settings).
If problem persists, then check for firmware updates on your router.(you check router manufacturer support website for downloads and instructions).

  • I am not able to transfer anything from my Nokia to my iphone by bluetooth although it says connected when I transfer it comes up on the Nokia unable to connect. any suggestions?

I am not able to transfer anything from my Nokia phone to my iphone via bluetooth although it say's connected on the iphone when I try to send it say's UNABLE TO CONNECT on the Nokia, I have restarted the phone but still no luck. any suggestions?

    Two different operating systems.
It has nothing to do with the phones running different operating systems. Bluetooth is a platform independent standard. It's all due to the different Bluetooth profiles each device incorporates. iPhones do not have the file transfer profile.

  • TS1398 unable to connect Bluetooth in keynote remote

I am unable to Connect my iPhone to my iPad using keynote remote. I  have selected "allow remote control" on both devices. When I try to make Bluetooth connection neither device find the other.

    Hi dchyrel,
I am having the same issues with a 2012 Mazda. It seems loads of people are having the same issues with a huge variety of ca makes and models. Since iOS8 came out, loads of people are discovering the car connects with the bluetooth of the car as you can play music, however phone calls are not possible. I've been dealing with Apple since iPhone 6 came out about this. If you do a search through Apple Communities or even a google search there will be pages and pages of complaints. Apple assure me they are working on a fix. No idea when that will appear, but hopefully very soon. Hopefully in the future Apple will test all aspects of their products prior to release. At the moment though (in the car only), the iPhones with the iOS8 upgrades are proving to be terrific iPods for cars :-(

  • Bluetooth and motorola e770 "unable to validate device" ???

    hey everyone --
did some hunting online this morning and see that quite a few people have been having trouble connecting their motorola phones to their ibooks. i have a g4 with os x 10.4 and a motorola e770 (vodafone spain). after pairing correctly the phone and the ibook, i tried to send a file (.mp3 and later a .jpeg) and got the error "unable to validate device". I have no idea why it won't work, considering the computer recognizes the motorola and vice versa.
tried restaring both phone and ibook and uninstalling/reinstalling the bluetooth recognition/connection. no luck. anyone have any advice??

oh i must tell you all that this is the worste phone i ever owned, and ive read many people saying that motorola is nothing but garbage these days.
the phone does various noticable things at glance, like freezes up when switching between menues after a few times for a few minutes , not one but few, and if you hit any buttons the one that seems to work the best in waking it up is the one for the web, and that costs 30 cents at starts, this happened 11 times, cant help it since the same button has several functions, beware that the screen changes menu options for that button.
i recomend you take that phone back and smqack the guy who sold it to you, this way retail clerks have more sense then to lie thourgh there teeth about such a phone, its a sham.
