    Please help
I have received the following message when i connect Developer 10G Report builder with oracle 9i database.

I have written the following text in tnsnames.ora file.

but still facing the same error ,one more thing that i need to mention, I have 3 Oracle home.details are:
    for Oracle database 9i
    for report builder 6i
    for Developer 10G
Kindly advise.Yes, you definately needed to mention that. That suggests you also have 3 $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin directories, each with its own tnsnames.ora file. So you need to make sure you are hitting the correct one. I'd pick one to be the controlling one and set the TNS_ADMIN enviornment variable to point to it.

    Dear Friends,
I installed oracle 9ias. and then i hosted my form, report into that server . All was working properly.
at this time my database was into another machine.
then i installed oracle 9i database into the same machine
(as the oracle 9ias was installed)
at the instalation of oracle 9i database one error comes
and shows that Agent configuration Assistant Installation
    fail.
but After installation of database it work properly.
    there is no problem.
but when I try to run from through web(by using oracle 9ias)
    it gives Internal error(500).
i check and find that my appache server for 9ias is working properly and in services of windows 2000 no error comes.
HOW CAN I INSTALL BOTH (ORACLE 9IAS AND ORACLE DATABASE )INTO SAME MACHINE.

  • Connect Forms 6i application to Oracle 10g Lite database on notebook

We are currently looking at mobilising one of our legacy systems. This application uses forms 6i. I have build the Olite Mobile Server and installed the olite database on a notebook. We have sucessfully synchonised from a 9i database to the Olite database on the notebook and have been able to validate the snapshot using msql
when we try to connect to the olite database on the notebook using developer we get the following
POL-5150 Access violation - Program attempted to access a database system table
has anyone sucessfully connected forms 6i to an olite 10g database or know of someone who has.
    Thanks
    Sean

I believe Oracle Lite is a non-SQLNET database and Forms can only connect via SQL*Net. If I am wrong and Oracle Lite can use SQL*Net I suggest you call Oracle Support and ask them to analyze your situation.

  • Can forms 11g work with oracle 9i database?

    Hi all,
Can anyone say if we can install forms 11g over WLS, using oracle 11g database for repository only, and activate/connect our forms to oracle 9i database?
    is this how it's done?
our production database is 9.2.0.4 on sun solaris.
    Please advise,
    thanks,
    Amit

It will work. Its just a Net 80 connection from WLS to the Oracle 9 database.

  • How to migrate data from oracle 9i database to new machine 11gr2 RAC ASM

    Hi Expert
I need your expertise to advise me what is the best method to move data from oracle 9i database to new machine running oracle 11r2 RAC database with ASM.
Currently my production server running on HPUX ORACLE 9I database with normal file system. My new server is running SUN SOLARIS SPACR 64 bit ORACLE 11gr2 RAC with ASM. What is best method to move data over so it will be consistent. Any guide can refer.
    Regard
    William

    Hi William,
See the note in metalink Migration of Oracle Database Instances Across OS Platforms [ID 733205.1] to saw the Endian Format of your OS. If is the same you can use the RMAN to convert the database to another OS, if not the only option is using export/import (Transportable Tablespaces).
To upgrade from 9i to 11g, see the note 837570.1 - Complete Checklist for Manual Upgrades to 11gR2.
To migrate your FS to ASM the only way is using RMAN, so see the note - How to move a datafile from a file system to ASM [ID 390274.1].
    Hope this help you.

  • CLONE ORACLE APPS DATABASE TO OTHER MACHINE

    Hi,
I want to know how I can clone oracle APPS database to other machine.
Just want to know the database part.
    Thanks in advance

You really, really want to ask this in the appropriate Oracle Apps forum. Cloning the database may or may not be sufficient-- most packaged applications have their own data dictionaries that may need to be manipulated in application-specific ways in order to properly clone the application. The folks in the Oracle Apps forum should be able to tell you what scripts, if any, you'd need to run for your particular Oracle Apps version and database.

  • Oracle forms 10g 32bit with Oracle 10g database on windows itanium for x64

    Hi.....
Currently we are planning to have this configuration
    1. Oracle10g RAC on HP rx6600 with windows itanium for x64 architecture
    2. Oracle Application Server (32-bit) on windows 2003 (forms & reports services)
    3. Application migrated from 6i to 10g
I have to things to ask about?
1.Will it be ok to connect from an application compiled with _(32-bit)_ 10g forms to a x64_ platform without problems ?
    2. Can we connect forms and reports of developer 6i +(32-bit)+ to 10g RAC on x64_ platform if the character set is not UTF8 ?

1.Will it be ok to connect from an application compiled with (32-bit) 10g forms to a x64 platform without problems ?I did this also. A 32bit Oracle Form(10gR2) on Linux and a 64 bit (10gR2) database. And this works without a problem. Since you didn't mentioned your versions I would suggest you look for your combination if it is certified combination.
    2. Can we connect forms and reports of developer 6i (32-bit) to 10g RAC on x64 platform if the character set is not UTF8 ?I don't know if the combination is certified. But regarding your character set, you have a character set setting (NLS_LANG, DEVELOPER_LANG, etc.. ) for your developer 6i, your database has it's own character set. Depending on those setting a conversion of the character set will take place between your developer 6i and the database, when you get and put data to the database. But like I said I don't know if developer 6i and 10g is still a supported combination.

  • Forms 6i vs. Oracle 9i database

I have a program developed with Forms 6i. It runs on a oracle database 8.1.6.
In this moment I need to use a Oracle 9i database. So I made a copy of my 8i db and exported it on 9i database (create tablespace, create user, import dmp file).
Now If I try to start with Oracle 9i database my program
doesn't run (no problems if i run vs. 8i database).
I have no problems when I try to connect with pl/sql.
I start the program with a shortcut :
    target : C:\Oracle\OraForms6i\BIN\ifrun60.EXE menu.fmx menu_item='Main001' maximized ='No' Term=abc:
start in : X:\MyFolder\Procs (mapped network driver on
the oracle database 8.1.6 server ).
    Could you help me ?
How can i fix it ?
    p.s.
    I noted this:
    SQL> connect user/password@my9idb ;
    Connected.
    SQL> select * from nls_database_parameters where parameter='NLS_CHARACTERSET';
    PARAMETER VALUE
    NLS_CHARACTERSET WE8MSWIN1252
    SQL> connect user/password@my8idb ;

    SQL> select * from nls_database_parameters where parameter='NLS_CHARACTERSET';
    PARAMETER VALUE
    NLS_CHARACTERSET WE8ISO8859P1
    SQL>
There are two different value !
    Is this a possible problem?
    Thanks in advance.

As Frank says, its impossible for us to help unless you can give us more information.. Can you reproduce in a simple Form? Have you debugged to see if its a particular line of code which causes the problem?

  • Restore Oracle XE database to another machine

I have an oracle XE database on a Windows XP machine, and I want to copy it to a Windows 7 machine.
On the XP, I performed a backup through the "Backup Database" from the GUI (BACKUP.BAT). The Oracle backup created 3 new folders underneath C:\ORACLEXE\APP\ORACLE\FLASH_RECOVERY_AREA\XE\
    ARCHIVELOG
    AUTOBACKUP
    BACKUPSET
I installed XE on the Windows 7 machine and it seems to work well.
Then I coped the 3 backup folders onto a jump drive and put them in the corresponding folder structure on the new Windows 7 machine. I ran the Restore from the GUI as an administrator (RESTORE.BAT). The restore failed, and I can't seem to figure out why. I'm not sure what the Sequence Numbers are all about.
Now I can't get into Apex or Apex_Admin
Thanks for taking a look at this.

After playing around a little bit I fixed the problem.
There are a total of four folders in \FLASH_RECOVERY_AREA\XE\ I had only copied three of the four.
    ARCHIVELOG
    AUTOBACKUP
    BACKUPSET
The Windows services keep the files in ONLINELOG open, so I had to shut down the services and then work with the folder. Therefore four folders have to be transported and copied onto the new machine:
    ARCHIVELOG
    AUTOBACKUP
    BACKUPSET
    ONLINELOG
If you run as an administrator "Backup" from the GUI, it executes BACKUP.BAT, a batch file which calls RMAN. Once that's done, copy the four folders to the same location on the target machine and then run as an administrator "Restore" (RESTORE.BAT).
In another forum someone said to be sure that the "Archive Logs" are copied. It should be interpreted to mean not just the "ARCHIVELOG" folder, but all four folders.

  • Oracle Dev Suite and Oracle DB Server on same machine

I have Oracle 10g database server already installed.
Now I want to install Oracle Development Suite 10g on the same machine.
Should they be installed in the same or separate Oracle home?
Is their anything I need to be aware of when installing?
    Thanks!

Install the Developer Suite in its own Oracle Home.
Think to adapt the tnsnames.ora file of the Dev Suite path to connect Forms/Reports to your database.
