Unable to connect Forms 5 to Personal Oracle8

Hi,
I have recently installed Developer 2000 (release 2.1) and
Personal Oracle8 (release 8.0.4.0.0) on Windows 95.
I have made additions through both SQL Net Easy Config and Net 8
Config to allow for remote connections to my Oracle server at
work.
All the tools I am using - Forms 5, SQL Plus 8.0, Procedure
Builder, etc. - all connect to my server remotly through the
configurations I added. SQL Plus connects to Personal Oracle8
as well (ie the local databse).
My problem - None of the Developer 2000 tools will connect to
Personal Oracle8. I have played around at great lengths and am
stumped.
Can anybody suggest what I have to do to enable those tools to
connect locally?

  • Unable to connect Forms, Reports to Personal Oracle8i

    Hi everyone
    I have installed Oracle 8i Personal Edition on Windows 98, and I have installed Oracle Developer. I am unable to connect to the Oracle Database from either Forms or Reports to the Personal Oracle Database. I tried connecting using
    User : scott
    password : tiger
    database : oracle
    orcl
    <with no database>
    But nothing helped..
    I am able to connect to the database from SQLPLUS with no connect string.
    I would appreciate, if someone could give me the solution for this problem.. and if it is possible to do so.
    Thanks in advance

  • Unable to connect Forms and Report with Oracle 9i database

    Dear All

    but still facing the same error ,one more thing that i need to mention, I have 3 Oracle home.details are:
    for Oracle database 9i
    for report builder 6i
    for Developer 10G
    Kindly advise.Yes, you definately needed to mention that. That suggests you also have 3 $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin directories, each with its own tnsnames.ora file. So you need to make sure you are hitting the correct one. I'd pick one to be the controlling one and set the TNS_ADMIN enviornment variable to point to it.

  • Can Forms 6i and Personal Oracle8i work together?

    Hi,
    I am going to download
    1. Oracle Forms Developer/Server Release 6i for Windows NT
    2. Oracle8i Personal Edition on NT
    Before download them, I want to know if they can work together. I want to learn Oracle database and developer 2000. If you have a better idea, please let me know.
    Thanks in advance.
    Sue

    Sue,
    If you're going to download them from the net, then good luck - I never managed to do it. I now have CD's for all the Oracle products and have Personal Oracle 8i and Forms 6i on my NT pc. It all works fine. You won't have any problems (as long as you get the software on CD's). For the username/password, just use scott/tiger to start off with.

  • Unable to connect Form 6i to my Oracle 9i database on Same Machine

    I first installed the 9i DB, and then installed Form 6i in different Homes, but I am not able to connect the form to the DB.

    Thanks for your reply. Please guide me through the set up of my TNS Names.

  • UNABLE TO CONNECT/ OTHER PERSON DECLINED YOUR INVITATION

    PLEASE HELP!!
    Im working in Tangiers and desperate to see my partner. I have tried in several hotel broadband wireless networks and I keep getting the unable to connect or the other person has declined your invitation. This is happening with other colleagues also. What can we do??
    Both our computers firewalls are off. Is this right?
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    I, too, have experienced the same problem. I have a master account, as do all of my iChat contacts, and when any of them try to contact me, or vice versa, we are unable to connect via video or sound (only via text chat). They are all able to connect with one other but not with my machine at home. I'm able to successfully connect via video or sound at my office, so it must be how it's set up; I have checked the firewall etc. but am unable to find the correct combination of settings.
    Here's a strange one: I am able to connect iChat successfully using video & sound with two machines I have at home which are sharing a broadband connection via an ethernet hub, but none of them can connect with someone outside of the building.
    Any ideas?
    Many thanks.
    various macs   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   too much to mention, i probably have it all..!

  • Unable to connect oracle8i from forms developer6.0

    Hello!
    I am unable to connect oracle 8i from forms 6.0 developer.
    How can I resolve this issue.
    Please reply me as soon as possible
    Thak you
    Dinakar

    Hi there
    First find out if you could connect to Oracle from SQL Plus. If you are able to do this, then copy the connection definition from this tnsnames.ora. This tnsnames.ora will be in Network\Admin folder. Copy this and replace it with Net80\Admin tnsnames.ora.
    This should work

  • Unable to connect to Forms 6i from Oracle 9i

    Hi,
    I have Oracle 9.2.0 (Personal edition) and Forms 6i installed on a Win2K PC.
    I am able to connect to the DB from SQLPLUS. But, I am unable to connect to the DB from Forms 6i. I was getting a ORA-12203 error. Then I configured the DB connection through the Net Easy Config. Also I tried to copy the network/admin/tnsnames.ora file from my database ORACLE_HOME to the Developer Suite ORACLE_HOME. Now I am getting the ORA-12222 TNS: No such protocol adapter error.
    Can anyone suggest where I am going wrong and what is that I need to do to resolve the problem.
    Thanks in advance!!!

    Normaly forms6i uses Tnsnames.ora file to connect to the database. You need to setup your Tnsnames.ora file correctly by clicking Start---Programs---Directory for Oracle--Oracle net8 easy config, and configure your database connection.

  • Problems connecting from Forms 6i to Personal Oracle

    I have loaded Oracle 8i Personal Edition in the following directory c:\Oracle\Oar81 and Forms 6i in c:\Orawin95 on my local PC. I'm running windows 98 OS. I have been able to use SQL*Plus to query the customer and sales_order demo databases sucessfully. I've also went out to DOS and started up the listner. However when I bring up Forms Builder and try to connect to the database I get the following error: ORA-01034: Oracle not available. I am logging in as scott/tiger. Do I need to specify a database name? Do you have specific suggestions on how to get the Oracle database and Forms Builder talking?

    I have tried your solution and it did not work. Is there another proposition. It seems there is a lot of bugs in oracle forms 6i or personal oracle 8i.

  • Connecting personal oracle8 and dev2000

    How to connect personal oracle8 and dev2000

    ok, for connecting PO8 to D2k you have to do the same setting as for central database connectivity.
    Anyway, here is the solution :
    1. Make an entry in tnsname.ora for your PO8 sid.
    2. Start the listener by giving the command lsnrctl start on command prompt.
    3. Start the database.
    4. Check the connectivity through SQL Plus.
    5. If sql plus is connected, start forms and connect it from there.
    Note : you may need to give po8.world in the connect string, but it is not required most of the time.
    where po8.world is the entry in the tnsname.ora.
    Best of luck

  • Published pdf form is unable to connect with database

    Hi Guys!
    I have created a PDF form using Adobe Live Cycle Designer which have some text fields namely RECORD and NAME. I have connected this form with a Database. When I enter a record in the RECORD number field the NAME field of this form has been populated with the help of XFA Script which is written on the exit event of the RECORD text field. When we publish this form, a new interactive PDF is created which works fine and populates the NAME field from the an SQL database but when I access this PDF form (which is located on a shared location) from some another location (not on the same machine where i designed this form) it is unable to connect to the database and does not work as expected.
    I think there is some thing i am missing for the database connectivity.
    If any body on this forum can help me out.
    thanks
    Here is the Script for the above form which i used to populate the NAME FIELD on the basis of enetered RECORD number.
    ----- Document.Page1.txt_MRN::exit: - (JavaScript, client) -----------------------------------------
    /* This dropdown list object will populate two columns with data from a data connection.
    sDataConnectionName - name of the data connection to get the data from.  Note the data connection will appear in the Data View.
    sColHiddenValue  - this is the hidden value column of the dropdown.  Specify the table column name used for populating.
    sColDisplayText  - this is the display text column of the dropdown.  Specify the table column name used for populating.
    These variables must be assigned for this script to run correctly.  Replace <value> with the correct value.
    var sDataConnectionName = "DataSource";  // example - var sDataConnectionName = "MyDataConnection";
    var sColHiddenValue  = "RecordNum";   // example - var sColHiddenValue = "MyIndexValue";
    var sColDisplayText  = "Name";   // example - var sColDisplayText = "MyDescription"
    // Search for sourceSet node which matchs the DataConnection name
    var nIndex = 0;
    while(xfa.sourceSet.nodes.item(nIndex).name != sDataConnectionName)
    nIndex++;
    //var oDB = xfa.sourceSet.nodes.item(nIndex);
    var oDB = xfa.sourceSet.nodes.item(nIndex).clone(1);
    oDB.open();
    oDB.first();
    // Search node with the class name "command"
    var nDBIndex = 0;
    while(oDB.nodes.item(nDBIndex).className != "command")
    nDBIndex++;
    // Backup the original settings before assigning BOF and EOF to stay
    var sBOFBackup = oDB.nodes.item(nDBIndex).query.recordSet.getAttribute("bofAction");
    var sEOFBackup = oDB.nodes.item(nDBIndex).query.recordSet.getAttribute("eofAction");
    oDB.nodes.item(nDBIndex).query.recordSet.setAttribute("stayBOF", "bofAction");
    oDB.nodes.item(nDBIndex).query.recordSet.setAttribute("stayEOF", "eofAction");
    // Clear the list
    this.clearItems();
    // Search for the record node with the matching Data Connection name
    nIndex = 0;
    while(xfa.record.nodes.item(nIndex).name != sDataConnectionName)
    nIndex++;
    var oRecord = xfa.record.nodes.item(nIndex);
    // Find the value node
    var oValueNode   = null;
    var oTextNode   =  null;
    var sRecordNum  =  $.rawValue;
    for(var nColIndex = 0; nColIndex < oRecord.nodes.length; nColIndex++)
    if(oRecord.nodes.item(nColIndex).name == sColHiddenValue)
      oValueNode = oRecord.nodes.item(nColIndex);
    else if(oRecord.nodes.item(nColIndex).name == sColDisplayText)
      oTextNode = oRecord.nodes.item(nColIndex);
    var found= 0;
    while(!oDB.isEOF())
    if (oValueNode.value== sRecordNum)
      txt_FirstName.rawValue = oTextNode.value;
      txt_LastName.rawValue = oTextNode.value;
      found = 1;
      break;
      //this.addItem(oTextNode.value, oValueNode.value);
       oDB.next();
       if (found == 0)
        txt_FirstName.rawValue = "";
        txt_LastName.rawValue = "";
    // Restore the original settings
    oDB.nodes.item(nDBIndex).query.recordSet.setAttribute(sBOFBackup, "bofAction");
    oDB.nodes.item(nDBIndex).query.recordSet.setAttribute(sEOFBackup, "eofAction");
    // Close connection
    oDB.close();

    Finally achived the database connectivity for the published pdf form developed in the Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.0.
    There must be the same driver version of the DSN on both machines. The machine which published the form and the one accessing it.
    Use the Admin account to add the DSN on both machines.
    Get rid of the error: Connection for Source "DataConnectionName" failed because the environment is not trusted.
    Thanks

    Your post doesn't mention whether you are getting any errors from your iPod or that it's a case where deleting in the usual ways doesn't work so I'm unsure what your issue is. In normal use, how you delete content from your iPod depends how you have it set to update:
    If you are updating automatically then delete the files from the iTunes library and next time you connect they will automatically be deleted from your iPod. Highlight the file and press the delete key on your keyboard, or right click and choose either Clear or Delete, depending on which version of iTunes you are using.
    If you are updating manually, connect your iPod and click on the icon when it shows in the iTunes 7 source list click on the chevron (the little triangle) to the left of the iPod icon This will display the various icons for the iPod itself, Music, Movies, TV Shows and Playlists. Click on Music and you'll see the traditional song view. Find the files on your iPod that you want to remove, highlight them and delete directly.
    To select multiple items such as all the songs in an album, click on the first track in the list hold down the shift key and click on the last track to highlight the selection. Then press the delete key.
    To summarise, you start by highlighting the song/video/selection in either the iTunes library or on the iPod song list as displayed in iTunes then press the delete key on your keyboard: Deleting songs or playlists from your iPod

    Hi,
    I'm unable to connect to Forms and Reports. I have done the following installations.
    1) First I have installed oracle 9i database in C:\oracle. oracle schema is devlp
    I was able to connect to database at scott/tiger@devlp
    2) I have downloaded oracle forms and reports from oracle site and installed.
    When installing forms and reports, the directory "oracle" is already in use message popped. So changed the path to C:\oraforms and installed both forms and reports.
    3) After installation, i tried to connect to forms/reports but couldnot connect. Error TNS could not connect.
    4) When i checked the TNSNAMES.ORA, the DEVLP string is available.
    Where should i changed the tnsnames??????
    Please anybody let me know how to have correct tnsnames and where.

    Mr. Sybrand,
    Thanks for the reply and I understood your point. Can you please further guide me to get an appropriate Oracle Forms/Reports (Developer) version in order to make application using Oracle Database 10g. Please note that most of my experience is in D2K 2000 rel:6. and unfortunately I came into software development after a long gap that is why not much aware about latest version out there of Oracle Forms/Reports.
    But is there really no way to connect D2K rel:6 with DB 10g !!!
