Unable to connect my Macbook to a network printer

Hi,
My problem is specific to Canon iR2016 printer model which is connected to a router which in turn is connected to a wireless router. I want to connect my macbook pro to this printer, which somehow I am not able to.
Till now I have gone to "Print & Fax", clicked on "+" sign, then clicked on the "Windows" tab. There I can see the network printer listed. I select it, then asks for software driver or printer model. Now here I select Printer model, but my model iR2016 is not listed. Then I select generic Post script printer and Add. The printer gets added, but when I print, nothing prints. I also tried with generic laser printer option, but no luck.
Look forward to feedback.
Thanks.

Checking the Canon Australia web site the iR2016 lists UFR2 and PCL5e/PCL6 as supported print languages. Postscript was an option and given that the Generic PS did not work then it would be safe to assume that this option is not installed.
If you have installed the UFR2 v1.80 driver then you add this printer by selecting More Printers > Canon IP (UFR II). If you have installed the v2.xx driver then you simply select IP > LPD for the protocol. This then requires you to enter the IP address of the iR2016 and then you can browse for the iR2016 in the Print Using menu. However this is for a direct IP connection. You cannot use the UFR2 driver via the Windows share, which you mention trying.
So if the printer has its own Ethernet connection to the network then select to add the queue using IP > LPD, enter the IP address of the iR2016 and in the Print Using menu type 2016 to filter the list to the correct model. It should show UFRII in the name. Select this and you should be able to print.

    Hey brainmasala,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Sounds like you are not able to connect to a Wi-Fi network with your iPad. This article has a section for Unable to connect to a Wi-Fi network and the second article is the recommended network settings. If after these it still has the same issue you may want to restore the device to factory settings.

  • How do i connect my MacBook Air to a Printer on my Wireless Network

How do i connect my MacBook Air to a Printer on my Wireless Network ? The printer is connected to a PC running Windows 7. That PC is connected to my Wireless Network. MacBook connects fine to Network, but can't find Printer.

    Hi Kappy,
Thanks for your response. I followed your instructions (for Mac OS 10.6.7). It seemed to set up OK, but when I tried to print I kept getting the following Failure Message "Session Setup failed : NT_Status_Invalid_Parameter".
When I get the "Advanced Window" should I enter anything into the "Location" field ? Maybe I am not entering the correct Workgroup, Server or Sharename ? Is there a way to make sure all of that is correct ? I went on to the computer that the printer is connected to and verified all of that, but am not sure I looked in the right places.
When I print via my Home Network from another Windows 7 Computer to the same PC, it works fine. I just can't get it to Print from my MacBook Air.
I thought of using the IP Address. How do I find the IP address of the Computer that is connected to the Printer ? Is it what they call the IPv4 Address, or the IPv4 Default Gateway ?
Appreciate any help you can provide.

  • HP Deskjet 3050 - Unable to connect to WPA secured wireless network

    Hello,
My first post here so please excuse any faux pas on my part.  I bought this HP Deskjet 3050 a week ago and have been waging war with it ever since.  I'd be really grateful if someone could possibly advise on how I can resolve this.
I am unable to connect the printer to my secured wireless network, even though other computers, cell phones, etc. are connected without issue.  I have tried WPA, WPA2 and WPA2-Mixed security modes with the same failure. Specifically, the connection wizard reaches 66% and then displays the error that the wizard is unable to find network/printer.  If I disable the security, the printer connects fine.
I'm using a Linksys WRVS4400N router with firewall and associated firewall settings disabled.  The router is broadcasting on 802.11G/N mixed mode.
I'm installing the software supplied on the setup CD on a Windows XP SP3 system.  I have confirmed that the network the PC and printer are connected to are the same.
A question as well, if I may:  I haven't tried these drivers yet but I see there are updated drivers for the printer dated 14/12/2010.  The release notes indicate improved networking, but don't elaborate beyond this.  Does anyone know if there was a known problem with connecting to secured networks that has now been fixed?
Finally, just a note that I'm partially sighted and am using a screen reader on all systems.  I'll try my best to be as helpful as I can but please do excuse me if I occasionally can't find settings, etc. on screen and need a bit more detailed help.
Thanks in advance for your help, which I really will appreciated.
    Have a pleasant day,
All the best for now and take care,
    Hussein.

    HI,
firstly, apologies for the delay getting back to you.  Poor health has meant I've had little time nor inclination to do much on the computer side of htings.
Anyway, I'm please to say the problem with the HP 3050 failing to connect to my network is now solved.  It seems to be a bug with the setup software, and that seems to include the latest version posted Dec 2010.
To resolve the problem, I did the following:
    1. Disable all security options for the network, so it's just an open network.
    2. Connect the HP 3050 to the network using the setup wizard. This time it connected OK for me.
    3. Locate the printer's IP address.  I used the client list table accessed through my router's interface. You may be able to get this through the printer's on-screen menu, but as I'm partially sighted, this wasn't an option for me.
    4. Log into the printer's control panel at http://ip.address.of.printer e.g. http://192.168.2.108
    5. Under the advanced options, configure the settings for the network, including security protocol and passphrase.  Remember to enter the SSID of the network exactly as configured on the router.
    6. Apply the settings and log out of the printer's control panel.
    7. Log back into the router's control panel and re-apply the security options.  Be sure that they match those match those entered for the printer.
Hopefully this will be of use to others in the same position.
    Thanks again for your time.
    Best,
    H.

  • Unable to connect Panasonic HDTV to home network via Wi-Fi

I am unable to connect my Panasonic TC-L37E3 to the internet via Wi-Fi.  I purchased the additional Wi-Fi adapter for the set, and while setting up the connection I am able to see my wireless network on the TV.
I have a basic WEP key, but I am unable to connect to the network via any of the connection options given.  For every option there is a two minute timeout which is the eventual result of each connection attempt.
My router is 9100EM, with at 10M/2M service plan.  I am unable to connect the TV directly to the router via CATV since it is a considerable distance.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue or can suggest any troubleshooting actions?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Try switching the router off of WEP and onto WPA2. There is a WEP Setting regarding Authentication that allows for Open or Closed authentication, but even then, devices expect Open. WPA2 is faster and more secure, and it's a good bet that the TV will work once you switch the router over.
You can change the security settings by going to http://192.168.1.1/ and logging in using admin as the username, and your router's serial number as the password. In the Advanced Wireless Settings, you'll find the option for WPA2. Enable that option with Pre-Shared Key and set a Passphrase (if one is not already set), and then set up your devices to use that Passphrase (is case sensitive) once you apply the settings.

  • Unable to connect to a secure wireless network - Event ID: 8002 Task Category: AcmConnection..., Event ID: 11006, Event ID: 11006

    Hi,
    I have a Dell Latitude E6440 running Win 7
Enterprise 64 on a domain. It will connect to any unsecured network, and it can see the secured network in the list when I click the wireless connection icon on the system tray. When I go to manage wireless networks, the secured network does not show
up (and thus, I cannot delete the network to try to re-add it). Normally, we would add the secure network here. I click Add, give the name in the correct syntax, add the needed information (WPA/2-Enterprise, EAS or TKIP), and hit Next, it immediately returns
with "An unexpected error occurred". A similar thing happens when I hit Connect from the list of available networks that pops up when I open the system tray icon: it says it was unable to connect, when I hit troubleshoot, it says that it could not
identify the problem. The event log shows the error below. I haven't been able to find any resolutions here or elsewhere that address the fact that I can connect to unsecured wireless networks, but not secured wireless networks.
    Other notable troubleshooting steps:
Uninstalled/Reinstalled wireless adapter with the latest driver
Other laptops are able to access the same secure wireless network
The first WLAN-AutoConfig error in the event log was Event ID: 12013, attempting a 802.1x authentication. Then Event ID: 11006; stating "Explicit Eap failure received". After a few days of alternating all 3 errors, they started to only error on
    Event ID 8002.

  • Wifi connection ipad3 password correct but says I am unable to connect? Have reset my network settings but still cannot connect! Any help would be gratefully received thanks.

Hi. I am having problems connecting to the wifi at my caravan site. My iPad recognises the connection but when I put the password in correctly it says it cannot connect. I have reset my network settings in general but it has made no difference . Any ideas?

    Some may not be applicable.
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

I have a Dell Power Edge Server with 1 network card. I have installed VMWare ESXi 5 on it. Created several Windows 2003 Servers Virtual Machines. Networking is working fine all these windows machines. On one of the virtual machines I have installed Oracel VM Server 2.2.2 (Dom0) and on top of it I am trying to install Oracle VM Template for Oracle 11g provided by Oracle. I am having connectivity issues on the Oracle 11gDB (DomU). I can ping and ssh from Dom0 to DomU and vice versa. But I cannot connect the Oracle DB machine from any other machine. I can connect the Oracle VM Server (Dom0) from other computers in my network.
Any clue what the issue is ?
    Thanks,

  • Unable to connect to a particular WIFI network

I am unable to connect to a particular wifi connect via my laptop which has windows 7 installed. The WIFI is password protected and I know the password, I am able to connect to that network using my mobile phone and other friends laptop.
I have also checked the router configuration to check my Wireless MAC is not blacklisted. The same laptop is able to connect to other WIFI networks without any problem. The problem is not with wifi drivers because I am able to connect to WIFI networks...
Is there any other configuration in the router that is preventing my laptop WIFI from getting connected ?

I just purchased the printer today (replaced an exact same printer) but am unable to connect it.  The printer is not appearing in the “Nearby Printers” list so I tried to manually add it with the IP address but keep getting message: “Unable to verify the printer on your network.  Unable to connect to “......” due to an error.  Would you still like to create the printer?”  I tried, & said continue but it does not work, printer que says “Printer not connected”  I feel like I must be just missing a simple step. I went through & reset the printers, did the disk utility, unplugged everything, shut off & restarted & NO LUCK!  Help Please! I have spent all afternoon trying to figure this out & am regretting not submitting my issue on here sooner...
    Thank you!

How do you know what the IP address is?

  • Unable to connect to wifi satellite dish network

I am unable to connect to my wifi which is a satellite network.

Why? What happens when you try?  Does it need a password?  Do you know it?
Are you sure it has Wifi?
More details would help us better understand the problem.
