Unable to connect N8 on OVI suite.

Hi, I just got my N8 yesterday, it´s awesome but I´ve been unable to sync it at OVI Suite and I need to restore all my contacts, first when I plugged the USB cable it didn´t even showed the device at all, I am not even able to safely remove it because it´s not showing at the PC. When I change to Mass storage is OK, I can get into the phone and browse files.
I tried the solution I found here at the forums, uninstalling and reinstalling the OVI suite but nothing happened, I even tried with Nokia PC Suite with no luck, sometimes it gets the device but it says that it´s "connected in non-compatible USB mode" but the phone clearly shows that it is on that mode.
Can anybody help me??

I, too, am having the exact same problem (Windows7).
N8 is connecting in Mass Storage mode ok.
But when I want to connect in OVI Suite/PC Suite mode to latest version of OVI, it keeps saying that I change the connectivity mode on my device to OVI Suite (although, from device, it already is IN ovi/pc suite mode and not in Mass storage).
Even, at the same time, Win7's own explorer has been showing N8 connected and I can browse the phone's contents thru this explorer.
How to go around this?

  • Unable to Connect N8 to Ovi Suite

I cannot connect my N8 to Ovi Suite via USB.  Each time I try there is just no connection whatsoever!  However if I choose one of the other USB options from the phone such as mass memory, conn.pc to net or media transfer I can connect no problem and immediately get the USB icon on my phone so I know there is no problem with the cable.  The problem is purely with connecting to Ovi Suite.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Ovi Suite numerous times and have both uninstalled, reinstalled and repaired the connectivity driver cable software as well but all to no avail.  This means that I cannot upgrade to the new Anna device software.
I am sick to death of Ovi Suite as there always seems to be one issue or another with it !!  Can I use PC Suite with N8 instead?

You could try standalone Nokia Software Updater:http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/device-software-update/update-with-pc
Although you can utilise certain features of PC Suite with N8 using older version /t5/Nseries-and-Symbian-Smartphones/How-to-use-Nokia-N8-with-PC-Suite-7-1-30-9-apparently-compatible... you would not be able to update device using it as continually advised to update application.

  • Unable to send texts from Ovi Suite

Ovi Suite 2.0.2.42 / Nokia N50 [all software marked as up to date]
The suite has been working well since initial download but in the past couple of days refuses to send texts while connected to the phone.
The msge is transferred to the phone and stays in the outbox and after some tries, is marked as failed.
If I then disconnect the phone from the laptop, the message sends successfully.
Some error messages on phone have included, "out of memory - close applications" which is rubbish as nothing was open.
Any and all help much appreciated.

Could you please provide complete information about your phone and pc?

  • Connect N900 to Ovi Suite

When connecting my N900 to my computer Ovi Suite stays for ever in the
"Please wait while USB drivers are installed on your computer" . There is no progress and actually nothing is done CPU is flat, no files are access on my computer (WIndows 7 64bit)
How do I connect the N900 to Ovi Suite 3.1.1.80?

    oh....scratch that...it just took a while.
now i am able to see all the different countries and such.
the first time, it would not recognize my maps and could not find the folder.
so i unplugged the device, started ovi maps, waited until it got a gps lock, taped the red circle to center on me.  then closed the application and reconnected.
then after a few minutes of searching, it finally found everything and then showed me the list of the maps to download.
the maps that i would want and have downloaded before are showing as "on device"
so it seems to be working fine.
also, i had to be sure i was connected in PC Suite mode.

  • Connecting e52 to Ovi Suite

I want to backup my phone contacts and I tried to install Ove Suite on my pc. My problem is, that I can't connect the phone. Even if I use the cable and choose pc suite on the phone, it seems like there are no connection between my laptop and e52. How can I solve this? can I find a more easy way to synk my contacts?

In ovi suite Go t Tools-->Options->Connect to internet. There you select Home country and home operator. This will connect your mobile yo net. Then Go to Ovi.com Se up ovi - sync. A seetings message sent to your mobile save those. Then go to tools--> sync and click on ovi.com. Then all your contacts are made a copy on ovi com. When you lost your contacts just go to tools on mobile and sync ovi.com

  • Connecting N8 to Ovi Suite

Has anyone solved this issue yet. My GF has an N8 the same as my own (PR 1.0) but she cant get it connected to her Laptop. Ovi Suite Does not see it at all. Windows sees the phone as a mass storage device but thats it. I tried my own phone on the laptop aswell and still nothing so im guessing its the Laptop. I have uninstalled everything, reinstalled it. Installed the old PC suite and old Ove suite but still nothing. Has anyone any ideas what could be missing from this laptop that is effecting Ovi suite so much.
    Thanks

Yeah its switched onto Ovi Suite in connection manager.

Looks to me like we all have a similar problem (see mine at /discussions/board/message?board.id=connectivity&thread.id=15186 ). Since it seems like 6.89.6 has a problem I just tried uninstalling 6.89.6 and my BlueSoleil and then installing PC Suite 6.70.22 that came with my phone. Sadly that didn't fix it either. It still reports only the Microsoft bluetooth stack (that I can't actually find anywhere on the PC), and does not detect my phone. Noting that zaigham had 6.85.12 working OK I have to assume that 6.89.6 has blown away something that was needed (zaigham have you tried rolling back to 6.85.12?) I guess I'll check back in a couple of weeks and see if Nokia has a fix for the problem....

  • N97 won't connect after updating OVI Suite to 2.2....

I just update Ovi Suite to 2.2.1.23. After a reboot of windows (vista) Ovi Suite starts, but when I connect my N97 with USB cable, Ovi suite seems not to recognize my phone. The connection with my computer is OK., I can browse my N97.
Even when I try to find a new phone, Ovi suite doesn't see my N97.
Everything worked a hour ago, before upgrading....

    I found this:

After removing all nokia software, I installed the mentioned beta software updater and nokia ovi suite again. ...
and now my N97 is connected again and I can synchronise with ovi suite....

    Hi,
I just had huge problems in having my N97 updated. Nor Ovi Suite, nor PC Suite (after complete de-install and re-install as described in a message above), nor having installed Nokia Software Updater seperate was able to do it. Each time it halted stating that it was not able to find my device on the usb-cable while the suite itself was perfectly able to see it.
Still, I managed to have it updated through a beta software updater. I can only hope it will work for you guys too, here's the link:
    http://betalabs.nokia.com/blog/2010/06/30/nokia-software-updater-beta-adds-device-application-update...
Good luck to all of you !
P.S.: make sure you attach your device to an USB-port directly on your MB !

I had recenly bought a nokia x6 16gb and I have connection problem with my ovie suite.I am using cable to connect to the pc.When I open my ovie store it says connect ur device under the ovie suit toolbar. And I connect it but it actually worked but it work for about 5sec and it auto dissconnected.I had tried reconnecting it but turn out the same. But when I am using my laptop and I connect it using Bluetooth it work (ONLY FOR TRANSFER SONG AND PHOTO).I cant update my phone software because I am using bluetooth.I also tried using cable to my laptop but it is same like how I connected to my pc.I am using Windows XP SP2(PC).Thank you for those who helped me and spending time reading it.(Reason=Because I wanna update my phone Software).Again Tks

    Hi PhoneNerdies,
Firstly, I recommend to update your Windows XP to Service pack 3. Nokia Ovi Suite do not support fully the XP with service pack 2.
Then use the latest Ovi Suite available, current version is 2.2.0.245 and available from Nokia.com and Ovi.com download pages. You Ovi Suite version you find from help menu and About the Ovi Suite tag.
Then update your X6 to the latest SW available.
After these steps your X6 would work fine.
    Regards

I've had similar problems, but wait for the drivers to install, also sometimes my phone won't connect straight away, pulling the usb cable out of the phone and pushing it back in again quite quickly usually gets the connection to work ok !

  • N8 ovi suite connection not working and unable to ...

Hi guys, i bought a brand new n8 today with vodafone australia, and being naturally very excited about it i tried to download some apps from the ovi store. i was prompted to download the ovi store installer, which i accepted, but when it came to installing it onto my phone i was displayed"file corrupted". i went on to ovi suite to try and install it from my pc (vista) and i was unable to update my support software, and then my phone was unable to connect to the ovi suite.
Can someone please help me! this is literally a brand new phone and i have performed no resets, soft or hard, on it.
    Thanks, fletcher

The splitter  coax F-connector may have been installed with a small connector wrench.  Just use a small 11mm or 7/16 in. wrench, or pliers and loosen the connector about 1/2 turn.  Then you can disconnect it with your fingers.  Make sure the cable itself is straight and not putting pressure on the connector.
