Unable to connect new devices to network

I have a WRT610N which does not allow me to connect any new devices to the wireless network. This is a recent problem as I have been able to connect new devices before. Devices on the wireless network, those that have been on the network, are able to disconnect and reconnect. Just new devices are excluded. Have gone through the admin screens to see if something is amiss but can not find anything. Any suggestions?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Hello again Before doing the procedure you outlined in your response, I opened the utility for the router and manually entered the Mac address for the iPhone. I then entered the passcode for the network on the iPhone and it worked. Should it fail, I will follow the re-flash and reconfig procedures who suggested. I do appreciate your assistance in this matter. If nothing else, it made me think! ;-) Thanks Pete

  • Connecting new devices to wifi

    Hi…
I have a time capsule which is used as my wifi hotspot. I have multiple devices connected. I am 100% sure that I have, and remember, the wifi password (verified though keychain access, yet connecting new devices is impossible. This phenomena is just recent. The devices already connected are unaffected. I have gone through some of the obvious steps such as reeseting the Time Capsule. The discussion post "How to reset Wi Fi password when old one forgotten?" at https://discussions.apple.com/message/23252830#23252830 is problematic in that step 5 requires "continue" to be pressed; I see no "Continue" select button. Any ideas?

The instructions that you have assume that you are using a Mac running Leopard or Snow Leopard, so if you have Lion, Mountain Lion or Mavericks, those instructions would not coincide.
It would probably be simpler if you reset the Time Capsule by holding in the reset button for 10 seconds, then releasing and waiting a minute for the Time Capsule to restart.
Then, set up the Time Capsule again like you did originally. You can use the same device name that you used before if you wish, but change the name of the wireless network and the password. Might be a good idea to write down the password(s).

  • 1536dnf ToolboxFX unable to connect to device

Printer and faxing was working perfectly for several months with XP computer but when I tried to install on my new HP computer with Win7 Pro the ToolboxFX "cannot connect with device".  I am able to print without any problems but when I open ToolboxFX the message appears.  ToolboxFX lists the printer as a known printer but cannot connect.  I have spent hours with tech support with no success.  There seems to have been previous issues like this but they are older and link to firmware that no longer exists or are for XP systems.
.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled both from CD and from web site.  Installed firmware and updates, removed them and went back to factory defaults.  I have run out of ideas and so has tech support.  There has to be a resolution.  This is an HP printer and an HP computer.  There shouldn't be compability issues.

    Hello KKCPA,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand when you open the ToolboxFX you receive a message "Unable to connect to device". I will do my best to assist you!
I can relate to how frustrating this is. Just to let you know, the HP Toolbox FX is not supported in Windows 7, Windows Server 2003, or Macintosh operating systems. This HP document on Using HP ToolboxFX states this information. This is why you're receiving this problem.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.

  • My 2nd Gen iPod is "unable to connect" to our home network.

I recently purchased a 2nd Gen iPod touch, but when I try connecting it to out home wi-fi network, I encounter a problem.
The wi-fi screen opens fine, and allows me to select our network. I enter the password - and then I have a problem. I've double- and triple-checked the password, and I know I have the correct code. But when I enter the code, my iPod comes up with a message that tells me it is "unable to connect" to our home network.
I've looked at other posts, and checked the troubleshoot tips for wi-fi connectivity. Nothing has worked.
Our network router is plugged in, and functioning. Every other device in the house can connect, and access the internet. My iPod is the only one encountering an issue. After unplugging and reconnecting the router, and reseting the router and the iPod's network controls, I have literally no idea what to try now.
    Can anybody help me?

Well I'm not sure what you have tried so far.  But I also have a 2nd gen touch and when I have trouble with it...this may sound stupid but I go into WiFi in settings and turn off wifi.  I then force restart by holding down the home and power buttons until the screen goes black and you see the apple logo again., then release.  When it turns back on turn wifi back on and try to connect

  • Macbook air is unable to connect on hidden wireless network

    Dear users and support,
I have just bought my macbook air with lion os already installed, but I am unable to connect to hidden wireless network. Is there any trick to fix it? even though I am typing the name and password it's unable to login.
    Please advice.
    tks,

Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
Take all the applicable steps in this support article.
    Step 2
If you're running OS X 10.8.4 or later, run Wireless Diagnostics and take the remedial steps suggested in the summary that appears, if any. The program also generates a large file of information about your system, which would be used by Apple Engineering in case of a support incident. Don't post the contents here.
    Step 3
This step will erase all your settings in the Network preference pane. Make a note of them before you begin, and recreate them afterwards. It may be helpful to take screenshots of the preference pane.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "SystemConfiguration" selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Reset the System Management Controller.

  • My S4 is unable to connect to the cellular network after the 4.4.2 update failed to install this afternoon.

I attempted to install the OTA update for 4.4.2, but received an error message that the installation failed. When my phone rebooted it was unable to connect to the cell network and was extremely sluggish. I own an iMac and the S4 is no longer recognized by Kies or Android File Transfer.
I attempted turning off the phone and removing the battery and Sim, to no avail. I also attempted to access the recovery tools, but the phone will no longer boot to recovery. I tried a factory reset, but I do no recall ever setting the security PIN it seems to require.

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

  • Windows 7 Wifi Unable to Connect (one device)

I have 4 devices (asus laptop - personal, dell laptop - work, android phone - personal, windows 8 phone - work) that all used to connect to wifi networks without an issue. Both laptops run windows 7. I'm now in temporary housing for a few months with its
own wifi setup. I do not have control of this router. Everything but the dell laptop was able to connect to this network. However, the dell will give me the generic "unable to connect error" when I try to connect and obviously the troubleshooter
doesn't provide any more information than that. Also, my ethernet cables are packed away in storage and I really don't want to buy another one for this temporary period. I've seen a lot of similar issues posted, but none of the solutions posed have worked
    for my situation yet.
So the dell has NEVER been able to connect at this location - this is not an issue where it gets booted off the network/has poor connectivity.
I've tried the following which did not work:
    1) Manually entering IPv4/Gateway/DNS etc.
    2) Sharing the network (protected and unprotected) from my personal laptop
    3) Standard restarts, disconnect/reconnects, etc. for all devices and the router
    4) Entering all the encryption types (even though I know it is WPA2-Personal, AES)
    5) Yes, wifi is enabled on that computer
    6) Given that this is a work device, I cannot easily uninstall/reinstall drivers due to security blahblahblah
I would appreciate any advice with this situation.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
First, please check the following event log log before you try any suggestions.
    Microsoft-Windows-WLAN-AutoConfig
It’s under applications and services log.
Based on the current situation, you may perform the following suggestions to check the issue:
    1. Update the router firmware and reset the router.
The default settings of Windows 7 should work normally with the wireless router.
    2. Set up a new network with WPA2 Encryption.
    3. Verify with the WLAN service is started  and set to automatic, if the WLAN service is stopped, I would suggest you to start the service and put it to automatic.
    4. Follow the steps to start the WLAN service and disable the IP Helper service. (Click on Start, type in services.msc. Select WLAN Autoconfig from the list, Right click properties)
    5. Connect to another wireless router for a test.
In addition, Please Use Network troubleshooter event logs to solve network problems
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/use-network-troubleshooter-event-logs-to-solve-network-problems
    Hope it helps.

  • Mysteriously unable to connect to unprotected wifi network

I recently moved into a new apartment with a wifi network already in place, which I'm currently having trouble connecting to using my 2009 MacBook Pro 15" (OS X 10.6.8).
Everything worked fine for about a week and a half, but last weekend the connection gave out and I haven't been able to reconnect since.  However, what's really baffling to me is that I can still connect with my phone, and my roommate can still connect with his phone and laptop as always.  What's more, I've tried 3 or 4 other wireless networks at friends' apartments or at work and have been able to connect to all of them just fine.
The inconvenient part is that the network is shared with our upstairs neighbors, so I haven't really been able to troubleshoot the modem much other than asking them to restart it once, but I did take my laptop up into their apartment and still was unable to connect to the router, even while standing right over the modem.
My airport card is able to detect the network just fine (it shows as 3-4/5 bars), but when I try to connect it just times out.  I should also mention that it's an open network, so there's no way it could be a password related issue.
So to summarize, this problem only affects my device, and only when I try to connect to my home network.  Any Ideas?

    Try the following:
Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)
    Open Network
    Click on AirPort
Click Advanced at the lower right
Locate the name of the open network and click on it it highlight it, then click the - (minus) button at the bottom of the list to delete it
Do the same for any other networks that you no longer need
    Click OK, then click Apply
    Close the window
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilitites > KeyChain Access
Click on the Kind filter at the top of the area on the right of the window
Look for any listing with the name of the open wireless network
If you find it, click on it to highlight it, then click Delete on your Mac
    Close the KeyChain Access windows
    Restart your Mac
    Try to log on on
    What happens?
