UNABLE TO CONNECT ORACLE 8i NT WITH DEVELOPER 6.0
Could somebody possibly from Oracle outline the solution on how to connect Oracle 8i with Developer 6.0. Oracle may please update the Developer 6.0 to be able connect to Oracle 8i sucessfully.
I have Oracle 8.1.5 on my W/NT server and Developer 6.0 with patchA5 installed on my clients.
I'm able to connect from Developer 6.0 to Oracle 8.1.5 using the following entries in
my client's c:\orant\net80\admin\tnsnames.ora
file:
orcl.world =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS =
(COMMUNITY = tcp.world)
(PROTOCOL = TCP)
(Host = pc20)
(Port = 1521)
(ADDRESS =
(COMMUNITY = tcp.world)
(PROTOCOL = TCP)
(Host = pc20)
(Port = 1526)
(CONNECT_DATA = (SID = ORCL)
ORCL is my Oracle 8.1.5 instance name (SID), not my global database name (which I called 'updsis' or whatever). (I DON'T mean the instance name MUST be ORCL!)
I didn't need to change my tnsnames.ora after upgrading from 8.0.5 to 8.1.5 on the server.
Hope this helps. Regards,
Andrew Florit

Unable to Connect Oracle 7 with Data Services 3.2
Hi All,
I am incredibly facing an issues with Oracle 7 connecting with Data Services 3.2. with Native client drivers (TNS Names).
The client legacy application is on Oracle 7, they are moving the data from legacy to SAP ECC. My role is to transfer the data from Oracle 7 to SAP ECC, We are using Data Services 3.2 for conversion. This Data Services 3.2 is not connecting with Oracle 7 by using oracle native drivers (TNS Names).
I am able to connect Oracle 8 client with SQL *Plus, but with Data Services its not connecting, I am able create Data Store but when try to import the table the error message I am getting like "ORA-24316: Illegal handle Type"
Is there any other solution for this to connect, or Is Data Services 3.2 will not connect to Oracle 7 since its older version.
Please reply with your thoughts, or with some solution.
Appreciate your prompt reply. Many thanks.Hi Paul,
Currently I am using ODBC connection to read the data from legacy Oracle7, but ODBC is very very slow, queries are taking hours to fetch the data. Is there any other solution by chance... I read that DataDirect is the one can connect to any versions of oracle and its bit faster, is that true. Please clarify me. If that is the solution where can I get this DataDirect drivers for oracle 7? Please advice me.
Thank You,

Unable to connect to Wi-Fi with password
Hello,
I'm having a slight issue with an iPod and iPad. As the title says, I'm unable to connect to wi-fi with password encryption (WPA2). I don't understand why! I can connect to wi-fi when I take the password encryption off. I've been able to connect to wi-fi previously with password encryption enabled. I live in a complex with three other neighbors. I'd prefer to not leave the encryption off. Does anyone have an idea as to how to solve this problem? I've already tried restatarting the iPod and restarting the wireless router. I tried to forget the network as well on both devices and reconnect them, however, when I try to reconnect them it tells me "unable to connect to the network". I do not wish to do a factory reset for either devices. Also, I'm unsure whether this is related or not, but I just updated my software recently to OS 6.1.2 ...my problem began a day after doing so.
Any feedback would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance. 8]
I have a Netgear WNDR3400 wireless router.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

I would try another encryption but still use encryption. Also try changing the PW.

INS0009: Unable to connect to the database with user SYS
Hi all,
I'm trying to create an OWB repository with OWB repository assistant (10.2.0.2.) on a 10.2.0.1. database (windows XP platform). I get the following error every time I fill in the connect info for the SYS user:
INS0009: Unable to connect to the database with user SYS. java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
I can connect to the database (sqlplus sys/<password>@orcl as sysdba) and the OS user is in the ora_dba group. Also checked the database parameters remote_login_passwordfile (= EXCLUSIVE) and O7_DICTIONARY_ACCESSIBILITY=TRUE.
Does anyone know what the problem is? Any help is appreciated.
Regards,
QuintenOk I found the problem myself, I used the wrong sys password :-(. I thought the password I used to logon in sqlplus was right (sqlplus sys/<password>@orcl as sysdba) but the password doesn't matter when you logon as sysdba! So I altered the password for the user sys and now I can continue the steps of the repository assistant.

TS3274 Unable to connect to wi fi with mini IPad wi fi is working with other IPads?
Unable to connect to wi fi with mini iPad? All other iPads are able to connect. Not sure what to do?
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Unable to connect Forms and Report with Oracle 9i database
Dear All
Please help
I have received the following message when i connect Developer 10G Report builder with oracle 9i database.

but still facing the same error ,one more thing that i need to mention, I have 3 Oracle home.details are:
for Oracle database 9i
for report builder 6i
for Developer 10G
Kindly advise.Yes, you definately needed to mention that. That suggests you also have 3 $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin directories, each with its own tnsnames.ora file. So you need to make sure you are hitting the correct one. I'd pick one to be the controlling one and set the TNS_ADMIN enviornment variable to point to it. -

Unable to connect to the 2014 SQL Developer's Edition Report Server
Hello,
I have been through the wringer trying to gain access to my report service. I have to admit that I am something of a neophyte with regards to SQL Server but I am pretty good with Windows 7 management in general. I have just installed
SQL 2014 Developer's Edition under Windows 7 SP1. I have connected to the database engine server and loaded a couple of databases. I chose windows authentication and can get into the report configuration manager and the SQL server configuration
manager with no problems. I have registered the URLs for both the web and report manager. I can connect to all of the other instances (database engine, analysis services, and integration services). I have to run with administrator privileges
to connect to the integration services but it does not make any difference when attempting to connect to the reporting service either through report builder 3 or connect through object explorer. I can find no relevant errors in the RS log even after
enabling logging. I have been through many of the articles I could find online but nothing seems to resolve the problem. When connecting it shows Windows Authentication and the correct domain\user. I also browse to find the service so the
URL should be correct. The error that I am getting is as follows:
"Unable to connect to the server at CALYSTO\ReportService. The specified URL might not be valid or there might be a problem with the report server version or configuration. Specify a different URL, or contact your server administrator to verify that
the report server runs SQL Server 2008 or later. Additionally, if you are trying to connect to a SharePoint-integrated report server, verify that SharePoint is installed on the server and that the report server uses SharePoint integrated mode. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.RSClient)"

at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.ConnectionDlg.RSType.Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.ConnectionDlg.IServerType.ProceedWithConnection(UIConnectionInfo ci)
at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.ConnectionDlg.Connector.ConnectionThreadUser()
I have tried fixing the installation with the installation disk, removing the report service instance and reinstalling it, using the administrator account instead of mine (with is of course an administrator). I'm at a loss right now. I have spent
about 12 hours trying to track this down and so far nothing has worked. I'm about ready to reinstall the entire operating system and start all over. I thought that I would try this venue before going to that extreme.
Any thoughts, questions, or ideas would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
-Tom
Tom L"Unable to connect to the server at CALYSTO\ReportService.
Hello Tom,
It should be "ReportServer" in the URL, not "ReportService".
In "Reporting Service Configuration Manager" look up the correct URL. Open Internet Explorer with right-mouse click => "Run as Administrator" and open the URL, this should work. Navigate to "Side setting" (on top right side),
go to tab "Security" and add your account with role "System Administrator". Afterwards you should be able to open the URL without running IE as admin.

thanksOracle Forms is best used against an Oracle database... so why on Earth would you want to use it against SQL Server?
Aside from that, Oracle Forms is old technology... you'd be better using Oracle Application Express (Apex) for producing web based apps.
If you must do things against an SQL Server database, you would need to set up heterogenous services connectivity (HS) and treat the SQL Server database as an external database.

I am unable to connect to Face Time with WiFi connection?
I am unable to connect to friends with Face Time. There business premises has WiFi they connected to each other to show how it worked. When I tried to connect
One after the other neither would connect to my iPhone 4. I tried again from my home with my WiFi connected but still no connection possible. Spoke to my network operator they explained it is nothing to do with network contact Apple. This problem is getting me down - Blue Jay headphones work perfectly with every other device and computer we own but cannot be found by our MB Pro (late 2011). This same MB is very difficult to pair with 2 other Bluetooth devices - taking several attempts each time and providing poor sound quality.

Thank you.The root cause of your problem is the unixODBC Driver manager.
In my environment I can select fine from the Postgres Unicode database storing your characters when I use in my odbc.ini
ConnSettings
=SET CLIENT_ENCODING to 'UNICODE'
and in my gateway init these settings:
HS_NLS_NCHAR = UCS2
HS_LANGUAGE=american_america.al32utf8
SQL> select * from "public"."unicode"@POSTGRESQL_DG4ODBC_EMGTW_1123_DB;
col1 col2 col3
1 a a
2 ä ä
3 æ æ
4 ç ç
5 ã ã
6 â â
as soon as I change in my gateway init file the HS_LANGUAGE to an 8bit character set, for example to:
HS_LANGUAGE=american_america.we8iso8859p1
and
ConnSettings
=SET CLIENT_ENCODING to 'ASCII'
I get the same corrupted content like you get:
SQL> /
col1 col2 col3
1 a a
2 ä ä
3 æ æ
4 ç ç
5 ã ã
6 â â
6 rows selected.
Your unixODBC does not accept multibyte connect strings and fails with the error 28500 and an opening bracket '[' when you set a Unicode character set.
Did you compile unixODBC from source using --with-iconv-char-enc=UTF-8 option?
Looking at the trace file shows that you're still using 11.2.0.1 gateway release and it also seems you have set in your environment a language parameter like NLS_LANG:
First of all I would like to ask you to use 11.2.0.3 as this contains some major NLS fixes. In addition, could you then please unset any NLS_LANG variable before starting the gateway listener?
