Unable to connect Project Professional (dekstop) 2010 to Project online cloud enviornment

Greetings!
I am trying to connect Project professional (2010) local desktop version to the
Microsoft Project Online (Cloud) PWA hosted by Microsoft -
so that we can edit a cloud project timeline through the desktop thick client (Pro). I think, cloud is a great interface, however some of the scheduling functionalities are better in MS Project Professional (thick client).
Unfortunately, I got the following error message:
<detail><errinfo><general><class name="ActiveCacheUnsupportedProjectProfessionalVersion"><error id="12015" name="ActiveCacheUnsupportedProjectProfessionalVersion"
uid="7babc462-4923-e411-890f-00155dc21b2c" version="14.0.4751.1000"/></class></general></errinfo></detail>
Can someone please help on this? I was told this may not be a version compatibility issue..
Best Regards..

  • Add Group By Categories On Project Professional 2013 when Opening Projects

I don't know how we got one category to show up, but how do you add "Group by" categories when you are opening a project.  What I mean is when you:
    >Open Project Professional 2013
    >Click "Open Other Projects"
    >Select (PWA) Project Server Account
    >Click "Browse"
    >Double-click "show me the list of all projects"
As you can see in the image, we can currently group by "Project Departments".
I initially thought, all I needed to do was create a Enterprise custom field (Project Entity), but I do not see the new field as a way to group the projects.
I can create a groups or filters using the new field, but the option does not show up in Project Professional 2013?
    Anyone have any clues?
    It's me

Is it possible to group by two look up fields, currently I can sort by Project Manager OR Project Status. I'd like to see both. For example I'm a project manager, I use the Group By option to group my projects together, but there are still a lot. I'd like
to further group, sort or filter to see only Active projects where I am the Project Manager. Any way to do that within Project Server 2013? We are on SP1. Thank you.

  • Project Server 2010 (SP1) - Project not loaded in Project Professional

    Hi,
We are currently facing an issue with a Project Server 2010 SP1 implementation.
When users are trying to open a plan within Microsoft Project Professional as from the Project Center, the client is loading and is opening only "Project 1". The selected project is not opening.
If Microsoft Project Professional is already opened, the selected project is rightly loaded.
Nothing relevant within the Events Viewer or within the ULS log files.
    Thanks for you help.

Delete browser history, add PWA site as trusted site.Rename global.mpt file and try again

  • Cannot open a single project after disabling support for project professional 2007

We use SharePoint/Project Server 2010.  I have a single project on the Project Server (PS) that fails to open in Project Professional (PP). The project is editable in PWA, but PP closes it as soon as it opens it (ie that's what the status window is
displaying, I basically get a blank screen in PP after "opening" the project, and when closing it does not have anything to save/check in). The only recent change I made was disable PP 2007 support.  I reviewed several posts so here are
some thoughts: I am currently not using backups, so cannot restore, the server name is already in the trusted list.  Any way to retrieve this project from the server (or directly from DB)?

    Hi Wwodzien,
It might be because of duplicate RES_OPTINDX values. Please install following KB and check the behaviour.

    Hello,
Unfortunately Project Professional 2010 will not connect to Project Online / Project Server 2013. You will need to use Project Professional 2013 to connect to Project Online / Project Server 2013. Project Pro 2010 will only connect to Project Server 2010.

  • MS Project Professional 2010 - Unable to open Project Plan from the Server.

    Dear Folks,
Since morning we have been facing an issue with MS Project Professional 2010. When we try to open project plan, it takes time and then show nothing on the screen, project gets checked out to you as well but nothing comes on MS Project Professional Screen.
Strange thing, when busy mouse cursor gets released MS Project Professional show "Disconnected from the Server" message with white icon instead of globe one at the bottom of MS Project Professional and disappear after few seconds.
We are able to open small plans but the plans having 4000 lines is not able to open, Project Professional show busy status when we give it a try.
Everything seems fine to me .. Project Server connection .. queue jobs .. no issues.
What could be the possible problem and how to resolve this issue?
    Many thanks in advance.
    Best Regards

    Hi Mohsin,
Is it happening for all users or just some of them? Is it happening for all projects? Have you tried on a different machine?
First I'd suggest to try accessing the project plan through PWA to identify wheither it is a network issue or an application issue.
Then check the Project Pro account to ensure that the connection settings to Project Server are correct. You could also try to remove the Project Server account in Project Pro and create it again.
Finally, ensure that the PWA URL is added to IE trusted sites.
    Hope this helps,

  • Unable to open/edit project in project professional form PWA(project server 2010)

i have been working perfectly and opening my projects with project professional from PWA
All of a sudden,i get this error: no permission to read enterprise global file when trying to edit my projects in project professional from the PWA
i have also tried opening the project from project professional directly and it says (you do not have sufficient permissions to  perform the requested action)
please what is the cause of this issue and what can i do to resolve it?

    Hello kehinde,
The cause of this problem is somebody changed something.
To resolve, I would clear out the cache to see if that resolves anything.
Then, I would reboot system and see if that resolves.
If still no go, then I would look into security settings, and start doing some detective work.  I keep a version of project server in a separate instance, that is completely out of the box, so I can have a reference point for settings.
If still not solution, then I would resave the global file settings.
    Cheers!

  • Project Professional 2010 and pwa hangs when opening a linked project from PWA on Project Server 2010

When I open a linked project in Project Professional 2010 from PWA, Project Professional 2010 hangs with the "Links Between Projects ..." dialog box open.  Unable to move or close the dialog box.  Unable to move or close Project Professional
2010.  The PWA tab on internet explorere is frozen and unable to access although other tabs in IE are accessible.  End up having to reboot to close down project or force the process to end.  I suspect a hidden dialog box is the culprit maybe
the scheduling conflict dialog box but am unable to access or switch and cannot confirm that there is another dialog box.
Has anybody else experienced this problem?
    Thanks,
    Julie

I have seen it hang when trying to open a project schedule even with no external links.
Project 2013 Pro, Link to schedule is on a PWA on a Project 2007 server.
If Project 2013 is open before clicking on the link, there is a long delay and the project schedule opens up in the web tab where the link was selected. If Project 2013 is not open, it just hangs and has to be shut down via the task manager.
No idea why. I can create a link to the shared volume and that works OK. But if I actually try to open MS Project by clicking on the link to a .mpp file it never opens in MS Project.

  • Unable to save/publish Projects on Project Server 2010() using Project Pro 2007 and 2010

    Hi,
Recently we have upgraded from Project Server 2007 to 2010 SP-2 (BCM enabled) environment and from last few days we are getting issue with Project Plans where PMs are not able to update Projects means save and publish the Project using MS Project  2010/2007.
Whenever PMs try to open project using MS Project 2010 SP-2, it gets load successfully but when they hit save and publish no jobs are getting fired up nothing is happening. Only way to get out from MS Project 2010 window is to close the Project window and
and click discard changes. No error and exception windows are popping out in MS Project 2010, no error/problem/issue clue at all from MS Project 2010.
But when I try to update this Project plan for very first time using MS Project 2007 Sp-2 then I am getting below error
for any subsequent save and publish using MS Project 2007-SP2 getting below error
As an alternative I have tried to open this Project Plan using web and there it is getting opened saved and published successfully from PWA absolutely no issue.
Also I have saved this Project locally as XML and saved and published it on Server successfully. But after someday again this project got corrupt PMs started getting same problem again
I have also looked at ULS logs but not getting anything useful there.
So any guesses why this could happen that can give me pointers to find actual root cause, please let me know.
    Thanks much !!!
    Sachin Vashishth MCTS

Used below steps to fix the Projects on MSP 2010.
    1) Open corrupted project in MS Project connected to PS 2010 Prod env.
    2) Goto > Resource > Add Resource  > Build Team From Enterprise
    3) Check is there any local resource who has not replaced with corresponding enterprise resource. If yes then replace all those local resources with enterprise resource. If not then move to next step.
    4) Open resource sheet view and sort or filter by local resources.
    5) Then add few columns in resource sheet view like "Windows User Account, Email Address , Base Calendar etc".
    6) Now check has any local resource having enterprise attribute assigned to it, if yes then delete or assign local value as appropriate.
    7) Then GoTo > File > Save & Send > Save as project file > Save for sharing (at local location)
    8) Close project plan window and click "Yes" to save changes.
    9) Restart MS Project 2010 and open your project from local location.
    10) Then Goto > File > Save & Send > "Publish to Project Server". This will open "Import Project Wizard" to validate Resources and Task in Project.
    11) Then in Import Project Wizard window at left hand side click "Map Resource" to validate project resources.
    12) This will "Map Project Resource to Enterprise Resource " check all the resources highlighted with "Red" font and map "Standard" calendar to local resources.
Note: Don't worry about local resource assigned "Standard calendar" but still highlighted "Red".
    13) Then click "OK" and click on "Continue to step 2" at bottom of "Import Project Wizard".
    14) Make sure you get number of errors 0 in step 2, else click on validate resource and take proper corrective action as explained in step 6.
    15) If you leave at least one resource as a local resource (unmapped to an enterprise resource), you will see the local resource in the Import Resource grid on the right side
    of the Confirm Resources page.
Examine the value in the "Import" column (if not able to see this column then insert this as new column) for the local resource .
The default value is "Yes", then change the value in the "Import" column
to "No", else system will import the local resource as an enterprise
    resource.
    16) Then "Continue to step 3, 4 and 5".
    17) Then at Step 5 , Save project to Project Server by clicking "Save as" link.
    18) Then publish the project to update the plan at PWA 2010.

  • Outlook 2010 and 2013 are unable to connect but OWA (and mail routing) works fine

    Hi-
Not sure why but this past Sunday (just after DST adjustment) outlook clients (using 2010 and 2013) were unable to connect to an Exchange 2013 server.  OWA and mail routing (internal and external) is working fine.  I've even tried on multiple machines
and all of them experience the same issue.  On a new machine with a fresh version of outlook 2013 installed here is what happens:
    Click on Outlook 2013
Click Next until the account setup is displayed.
    Name and email is auto-populated
    Established network connection is good
Searching for email address settings is good (once the self-signed exchange 2013 cert is accepted)
And then the logging onto the mail server fails.  The first pop-up is:
The Connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable.  Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.
Clicking "OK" is followed up with a window with the Microsoft Exchange connection info.
It lists Microsoft Exchange server which is populated with: GUID@<domain suffix>
Mailbox which is populated with: =SMTP:<Valid Email address>
On the Exchange Server I have noticed that the Web Management Service (WMSVC) is stopped and will not start.  Starting the service outputs:
    EventID 7024
"The Web Management Service terminated with the following service-specific error:  Unspecified error"
    Not really helpful :)
Since this is only happening with Outlook on multiple clients I'm expecting something with Exchange or the ability for outlook to connect to exchange.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi
I know this is an old post, but I'm having a very similar issue. I have CU6 installed and all other client connectivity apart from internal Outlook connectivity is working fine. I have distributed the new Self-Signed Certificate and the tested to verify
the clients trust it. I have tried on multiple machine with multiple accounts and none of them connect.
    I'm at the stage of reinstalling, but I would rather troubleshoot the problem, just in case ever hit the same wall in the future. I have run Test-OutlookConnectivity with the following output;

  • SSRS 2012 with SharePoint 2010: Unable to connect to the remote server

We had originally installed SSRS 2012 with SP 2010 and I did not like how the installation was configured, so we uninstalled everything and removed the SSRS server from the SharePoint farm and uninstalled all the SQL bits (SSRS was deployed to web tier in
    sharepoint mode).
I've since added a new application server to host the SSRS SharePoint Mode and Installed the reporting services add-in on the WFE.   For reference, I have 1 WFE and 2 App Servers.  the WFE has the Reporting Service Add-in and both App Servers have
the SharePoint mode of SSRS installed as described here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh479774(v=sql.110).aspx
I've also installed the Service Application and all seems to work well up until I make an attempt to create a report or data source on the WFE.
It looks like somewhere, the WFE is still looking to connect to the original SSRS machine we installed.  I've gone through registry, config files and the SharePoint config database to see if I can see where the reference value is.  Still can't
find it anywhere.  None of the Reporting commandlets are helping.
    Technically what is occurring;
Add Reporting service content types and create a New Reporting Data Source through UI
ULS Logs go after the url: /_layouts/ReportServer/NewSharedDataSource.rsds
Exception occurs after some time because it times out trying to connect to wrong host.  Exception below:
Exception encountered for SOAP method GetSystemProperties: System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond <WRONG HOST IP>:80

    at Microsoft.SqlServer.ReportingServices2010.RSConnection2010.SoapMethodWrapper`1.ExecuteMethod(Boolean setConnectionProtocol)
No powershell commands or any of the settings in the service application allow me to set this.  Any help would be appreciated.

Issue an iisreset on the WFE, and validate that SSRS Service is running on the App servers.

  • Project Professional 2010 Not Publishing to Project Server 2010

I am having trouble publishing a project from Project Professional 2010 to the Project Server 2010 (PWA). What I am trying to publish is a master project which is contains many enterprise projects as subprojects. When I press publish, it prompts me
to save and if I click yes then it goes through and saves all the subporjects and then just stops there and doesn't publish the changes to the master project. If I press publish and click no to the save prompt then it gives me the status "sychronizing
data to server" for around 15 seconds and then just does nothing after the sychonization finishes.
It usually should be giving a "publishing job done 0%" or "publishing job completed" when it publishes, but it gives nothing like that. I also check the project through the PWA and it has not updated yet, but when I open it for editing in the client it has
everything updated and up to date, meaning that the save is working properly and just not the publishing.
All my subprojects are able to publish correctly, it's just this master project that is not working.
Does anyone know why this is happening? Is the publishing process timing out for some reason? Or is it something else?
    Please help.
EDIT: The progress notification at the bottom of Project Professional just stops at "save completed sucessfully" whenever I try to publish

To check the queue, navigate to Server Settings > Manage Queue and view the jobs that are present. If there is an error when publishing you should see it in the queue.
