Unable to connect to 5ghz network band with security/password

Hi, I've recently set up a 5ghz network band on my router. The problem is I can't connect to it while it has password enabled. However, I am able to connect while it has no security/password. I would like to connect to the router using some kind of security or password
       I am using a Netgear Router WNDR3400v2.

You need to contact Netgear for support, it's their router they would probably know how to support it best.

  • Why can I connect to my home network with my iPhone 5 in one room, but when I move to another it is 'unable to connect to the network'

At home, I can connect my iPhone 5 to my home wifi network with no problems, as long as I stay downstairs.
As soon as I go upstairs my phone disconnects from the network. I can still see the home network it in the available network lists (with full signal strength), but when I try to reconnect I get an 'unable to connect to the network message'
If I move back downstairs it reconnects
This has only started happening in the past week or so
I've tried to forget and rejoin the network, but this doesn't work
I reset my network settings on the phone. This worked for a couple of hours and I could connect to the wifi upstairs, but now it won't connect again.
Does anyone have any ideas what is causing this?

Sounds like your wi-fi signal strength has degraded.  Try rebooting your wi-fi router, or get it serviced.
Do you have similar issues with any other wi-fi routers?

  • Unable to connect to my Oracle Database with Microsoft's ODBC for Oracle driver

I am unable to connect to my Oracle Database with Microsoft's ODBC for Oracle driver vers.2.573.4202.00 on a Win98 computer.
First, I create a "Net Service Name" in order for the ODBC Driver to find the Oracle server. I then created a System DSN in the ODBC Data Source Administrator and assigned the "Net Server Name" as the server in the "Microsoft ODBC for Oracle Setup". But when I test this DSN with Oracle's provided "Oracle ODBC 32Bit Test vers.2.5.3.1.0" I get an error:
    SQLSTATE: NA000
    Native Error Code:0
    Driver Message:[Microsoft][ODBC driver for Oracle][Oracle]
This error occurred on all three Win98 computers I have tried. It does however, seem to work fine on WinNT 4.0, and believe it or not, on the two Win95 computers I have tried.
Does anyone have any fixes, recomendations, or advice?
    Thank you,
    Eric Edwards

Why are yu not using the Oracle ODBC driver - these can be downloaded from OTN.
Have you set up a tnsnames.ora entry for the Oracle database you want to connect to? Does this name have a domain name added to it? Check %ORACLE_HOME%\network\admin\tnsnames.ora for the service name. If it is a name of the form :
    name.domain.subdomain
then you should try using this full name when configuring the ODBC data source.

  • EthernetIP, Unable to connect to the network path specified, Multiple NICs

I have not been able to find an answer concerning this error, so I am hoping someone can help.
Computer has LabVIEW 2013 with the NI-Industrial Communications for EtherNet/IP 1.2.1 addon with Win XP although I have verified the same setup with Win 7 x32 with the same results. I am using the EthernetIP CIP Get Attribute Single.vi and the corresponding "Set" vi.
I am using a pc with five network cards, one for the corporate network (dhcp) and four that are connected to four Rockwell PowerFlex 700S AC variable drives via CAT6 crossover cables. Each 700S drive controls a motor in an engine dyno teststand. The 700S drives have the latest available firmware installed. The four NIC/700S pairs have hard coded IP addresses with the appropriate subnet masks for proper routing. I can use the Windows "ping" command without errors. The program uses a QSM-PC architecture which I have four separate qsm loops  that "talk" to the each drive, those loops constantly request three parameters from the drive, a boolean drive status array, the rpm , and the torque every 250ms using the CIP "Get" vi. That data is then sent to the main front panel via shared variables. When the operator wants to say change the rpm, a write command is inserted into the queue, and the CIP "Set" vi is used.
My problem is when I start the program, it is hit or miss on whether these loops will begin to loop through their states. If they start, the program is rock solid. When one of the loops does not start, which is most of the time, the error returned is the "-251723767 Unable to connect to the network path specified". See the attached pictures. So if I disable three of the four loops, the error never shows up. Adding another loop or more will cause the error. Slowing down the request rate does not fix the issue and it is not always the same loop that will throw the error. Each qsm loop has its own session name and its own action engine with the only common thing amongst the action engines would be the "Get" and "Set" EthernetIP VIs.
    No more ideas.....Kevin

250 ms is a pretty slow update rate for CIP so Why use a nic for each drive? Use 1 drive nic in your PC and use a network switch to connect with your drives. If You have more then 1 nic you need to specify the nic to use for each loop for each drive IP address so the drive and the loops are using the correct IP settings. You should be able to use as low as 30 ms updates with no problems.

Same To me. I have Asus WL-500W router at home, WPA2-PSK(AES), password similar to this "lIGf@91pY0TnFY!Jh@7LjTUlsL3ZPY", MAC address filtering. My old Nokia E51 works, my Touch Pro Works with it. When i try my one day old Nokia E72 it does not work, the same like others:WLAN: Unable to connect. Wlan Network not Found. E72 works at my work wifi, which has the same settings but without mac filtering. Have no idea what is happening, all is setting correctly. MAC address of E72 is allowed on router. It has the same settings like E51, but E51 works like a charm E72 does not work. What is wrong?
As already suggested, you could try disabling the MAC filtering from the router, just to outrule possibility of a typo while entering E72's MAC address to router settings.
Have you tried swithing a WLAN channel that your router uses?
Log in to your router's web management pages (check router's default IP address and username/password from it's manual) and switch of the "Automatic" channel selection mode. Try few different channels, like 1, 3, 6, 9, 11, if one of the channels happens to work any better. Note that in case you have set your router to use channels 12 or 13 (or in case "Automatic" channel selection mode has decided to select channel 12 or 13) you must have a SIM card inserted and some other than "Offline" profile enabled on your phone since Offline mode (i.e. airplane / flight mode) won't allow your phone to operate on higher channels than 11.
In case you have configured your WLAN network (SSID) to be "hidden", try disabling hidden SSID mode on the router.
Asus WL-500W router seems to be a pre-standard 802.11n device so might be worth looking in to your router's WLAN settings and see if playing around with router's WLAN operating mode and settings improve the situation. First of all ensure that your router is not set to operate in 20/40MHz mode (set it to 20MHz only) assuming that the router is in default 802.11b/g/n mode. You could also try disabling the 802.11n mode completely by selecting a 802.11b/g mode (if available).
You should probably also check that you're running latest (2.0.0.6 ??) firmware version on your Asus WL-500W router since there seems to plenty of complaints regarding WLAN connectivity and stability issues (in general, not specific to Nokia handsets) with this particular router model.

I updated to ISO 6 on my Daughters Iphone 4S, my Iphone 4, and I have now received my new Iphone 5 yesterday and now all 3 of them have wi-fi issues. I know its not my wi-fi because My Daughters Ipad 2 and my Wife's Iphone 4 is still on 5.11 and the wi-fi works fine. I cant understand why apple have not been saying what's going on and when they will fix it. I have tried everyone's suggestions on this forum and the Internet. Still no luck.

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router

    Hi,
I think better to check with your sysadmin or DBA on this, I had the same isuse before but Apps 11i with Discoverer, I talked to ERP sysadmin and worked fine.
Since applications userid cannot talk with Discoverer schema (eul10_us) and it should directly talk with APPS user and then APPS user can talk with Discoverer user.
To the best of my knowledge I provided.

  • Linksys WRT400N - Unable to Connect to 5GHz Band

    Good Evening -
I am on my last nerve regarding my situation and I am hoping someone on this board can help me in some way, some form.  My Linksys WRT400N router is not under warranty anymore so I can't receive any assistance through Linksys.
I have a Dell Vostro 3400 running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.  The wireless card in the Vostro is a DW1520 Wireless-N Half-Mini Card.  This card can operate in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz band spectrum.  Obviously, the Linksys WRT400N is a dual-band router and broadcasts in the 2.4 GHZ and 5GHz band simultaneously.
I originally had a DW1501 Wireless-N Half-Mini Card.  Apparently, there was a known issue with this card with regards to connecting to a 5GHz frequency.  With the DW1501 I was never able to connect to the 5GHz band ,,, the card would "see" the 5GHz band but it would never be able to connect to it.  While on a support call with Dell wireless, they admitted that the DW1501 has an issue with actually connecting ("seeing") to a 5GHz band.
Dell offered to replace the DW1501 card with the DW1520.  So, now my Dell Vostro has a DW1520 and it is able to "see" the 2.4GHz and the 5GHz bands.  I am actually able to connect at 130 Mbps on the 2.4GHz band which is better than what I was connecting at ... which had been 65 Mbps.  Now, the DW1520 card can also "see" the 5GHz band AND it can actually "connect" to the 5GHz band.  When I "connect", I connect anywhere between 170 and 243Mbps, or thereabouts.  So all is good until I actually open a browser and try and surf the net.  When I do this, nothing happens ... it's like I am connected to the Internet but not really.  So then I have to disconnect from the 5GHz and connect back the the 2.4 GHz band.
I spent nearly 2 hrs. on the phone this afternoon with another Dell technician trying to find out why I could connect to the 5GHz band but not actually surf the Internet via a browser.  After 2hrs, the Dell technician could not find a resolution.  However, we have possibly narrowed it down to the Linksys WRT400N router.  At this point, I no idea what the issue is.  The Dell technician said that I may have to re-install Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.  I totally disagree.  I have downloaded all recent DW1520 drivers and the Linksys WRT400N has the one and only firmware version.  The Dell tech also recommended "resetting" the Linksys WRT400N.  I have not done this yet ... but will.
So ... I don't know what else to do or where to turn.  Is there a setting in my Linksys WRT400N router that I am not aware of that will allow me to connect to the 5GHz band?  I have disabled my MacAfee firewall ... nothing.  I have checked over everything I can think of ... I have researched the Internet for the optimal settings for the Linksys WRT400N.  I have made those changes.  Nothing.  I don't have any IP address populated within the Wireless MAC filter settings within the Linksys WRT400N.  I have done the ipconfig steps and have "refreshed" and "renewed" the ip addresses.
What leads me to believe that there is something not set correctly with my Linksys WRT400N (or maybe it's my AT&T Siemens modem that provides the gateway to the Internet) is that I am seeing the EXACT same issue that a state above with my Dell Precision M4400 Mobile Workstation laptop.  That has a Intel WiFi 5300 ABGN network card in it.   Same thing ... it actually connects to the 5GHz band, but I can't surf the net.
Finally, when I go to the Linksys WRT400N setup page and I go to Wireless > Wireless Basic Setup and change the Network Mode for the 5GHz band from Mixed to Wireless-A Only, I can actually connect to the 5GHz band but only at 54Mbps.
So, I am at a loss.  I am not sure what to do, where to look or turn, nor what to or what not to configure.  Any advice on optimal network settings or anything regarding this post would be greatly appreciated.  This is like buying a nice sports car and not being able to get out of second gear.  What's the use?
    Thank you in advance.

Most likely the router. you said that 2 different laptops have the same EXACT problem. Try this (in order): Reflash the firmware, reset the router then reconfigure the wireless settings. Set the channel width and channels to AUTO.

  • WiFi -  unable to connect to home network

I had a problem syncing and iTunes not recognizing my iPod touch, (and my new iPad). Did a restore on the iPod Touch and that solved the syncing problem, now I cannot connect to the WiFi in my home, (cannot connect with my new iPad either). I have a Linksys Wireless-N Broadband Router Model WRT160N. I am dying to connect the new iPad and get it up and running, etc. Can anyone help me solve the "Unable to connect to (my home network's name)".

Use G band, not N. I encountered a lot of problems with my new router on wireless N. Here is a reply I wrote for the other posts about iPad connectivity problems:
I have the base iPad 16gb Wi-Fi model and it was connecting to wifi fine. A few days ago I had to get a new modem/router. I bought a netgear dual band model (G and N) and used wireless "N" on my my two MacBooks and my iPad.
Two days ago I started getting the "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding." error on the iPad along with the schizophrenic signal strength bars going from three, to one, to two, to disappearing totally, to whatever, and Safari not opening pages and sometimes crashing, and when it would connect running slower than molasses.
My laptops worked fine, seeing both G and N and working equally well regardless of which I chose.
I did all the jumping thru hoops I have read on this and various forums and that Apple suggested back in April with naming each band on the router differently but with same security settings, renewing lease on Safari, reseting iPad, resetting network settings, turning auto connect off, etc., etc., etc, none of it worked.
So I started to wonder . . . does the iPad even work with "N" . . . the Apple site says "yes", but I wondered . . . what happens if I have the iPad ignore "N" and connect only with "G".
Guess what . . . that fixed the problem.
I went into Settings > WiFi > and told it to "Forget this Network" for the "N" band and then selected the "G" band.
    Problems gone.
If you're experiencing the connection problems I'd bet dollars to doughnuts you're trying to use wireless "N". Have it ignore that band and use "G".

  • Suddenly unable to connect to wireless network...exhausted all fixes

I’ve got an odd problem with my two-week old MacBook Pro and its connection to my wireless network. I’ve done what I think is pretty exhaustive troubleshooting, but remain baffled. Here’s the story.
This morning I connected to my wireless network (DSL 2WIRE modem/router) with no problem. This afternoon I returned and Airport refused to connect, giving me the error message, “Airport is unable to connect to the wireless network…” The network shows up as being available, but when I attempt to connect, it wont. (I didn’t make any changes or install any programs this morning).
    Here’s what I’ve done:
    [1] Restarted the router
    [2] Repaired permissions
[3] Deleted the network’s entry in Keychain Access
[4] Re-entered my WEP code (assuring it is in correctly; I’ve tried both with the “$” and without)
[5] Used interface robustness and without.
[6] Attempted to join the network from the System Preferences>Network.Airport route.
[7] Created a new account and tried connecting.
    Other tidbits of information:
[1] Another MacBook in the house connects to the network with no problem.
[2] My MacBook can connect to another (unsecured) network that I can “see” in my house.
So, it would seem my Airport card is working okay.
    Any ideas??

Some more info (in case anyone is listening...)
I tried turning off the WEP code and could connect. (Since I share files on my home network, this isn't a "solution").
I also tried Resetting the MacBook Pro System Management Controller (SMC)(See: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303319). I did this (I think -- there wasn't any indication that the reset "took"), but alas -- no luck.
I gave Apple Care a call, but the support guy, while courteous and all, didn't have anything to offer other than telling me to take it in to an Apple Store for a repair (clearly it isn't a hardware issue).
    Heeellllppppp!
