hi all, am having problems in connecting to my oracle10g xe database after installation. each time I try to connect, it displays ORA-12560: TNS:error adapter protocol. pls I will appreciate your anticipated assistance.

How are you trying to connect?
Are you connecting from a client? From the local machine?
What operating system are you on? What operating system is the server on if this is a client?
There are many questions...
The most common answer to your overreaching issue is going to be "specify a service name." If you want more specifics than that, we're going to need more information.

BPCNW 7.5 SP7 - Unable to connect to backend after installation

Hi Experts,
I have installed the BPC NW 7.5 SP7 with CMS authentication but when i launch the BPC server manager, it ask for user id and password. But when i enter the password for the bpc_sysadm, it gives the error "unable to connect to backend Abap system"
I am stuck and urgent help is required.
In backened, entry in the table UJA_SVR_DEFAULT is the hostname of of CMS.
I dont have sapmsg.ini file under c:
Windows as shown in the below log. Does it matter?

Thanks for your reply. I tried using "BPC_SYSADM" and "BPC_ADMUSR" but for both the users I am getting the same error. i checked the servername in the connection wizard it is correct. I am doing this for first time after installation.
In the backend, i checked the table UJA_SVR_DEFAULT and the entry for all the 3 fields are as below
ADMIN -- CMS hostname
SYSADMIN - CMS Hostname
USER -- CMS hostname

Unable to connect using system after installation...

Hello,
I'm running Fedora (core 7) and have installed "oracle-xe-univ-10.2.0.1-1.0.i386.rpm" (universal). I've configured it with all the defaults.
I can navigate to the "home page" but whenever I try to login I get an error saying "invalid username/password". My password is test and I've tried with username "SYSTEM", "SYS", "system", "sys".
All of this is being done as root (the install was also done as root).
Anyone have any idea what's happening here???

Unable to Connect to WiFi after iPhone power off; WiFi & internet are working with MBP; common problem, no solutions?

Here's my setup: Internet <> Comcast/xFinity supplied cable modem <> new Apple Time Capsule <> iPhone 4 & MacBook Pro (see below for hardware details)
Internet on my iPhone 4 has been acting slow since yesterday evening. My MacBook Pro was running fine, but just to be sure I checked the Comcast website to see that I have only used 50GB of my allotted 250 GB of data for the month, so it's not that.
I decided it must be a problem with just my iPhone, so I opened up the multitasking bar and quit everything in there manually, and then I held the on/off button, and slid the slider to power off. When I started back up, I could not connect to the same WiFi I had just been using. I tried to reconnect and nothing. I tried to forget the network and try again, nothing. I tried to reset all network settings, nothing.
I have tried all the steps listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398 "iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections"
Toggled WiFi off and back on
Made sure I am in range of the router (it's about 8 feet away and my iPhone reports full signal from the network)
Made sure all the hardware is connected and on
Checked other devices (I'm successfully connected with my MacBook Pro right now)
Checked for router firmware upgrades (I have a new Time Capsule from Apple with the current 7.5.2 firmware which I've been using for a month)
Restarted my device (again)
Checked that the network is available (it does show on my iPhone)
Restarted my Time Capsule
Checked my router configuration as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3727 "Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network" which involves simply checking to see that WMM is turned on, also stating that WMM cannot be enabled or disabled for Apple's AirPort products.
Reset my network settings (again)
I have searched and searched for fixes to this problem, and I have additionally tried:
Enabling/disabling Airplane Mode
Disabling any network password protection/encryption (no luck), re-enabling it (no luck)
Changing the network password
Checking for hardware addresses present in iOS Settings > General > About (they are present and not zero'ed out)
Switching Bluetooth off (nothing) and back on (nothing)
....and probably a few other things I can't think of right now
I have yet to try:
The "Freezer Trick" which apparently involves chilling the iPhone to get a temporary fix?
Restoring the iPhone (I would really rather not)
A different WiFi network (other than my own Time Capsule home network or guest network, both of which give the same Unable to Connect error)
So, after all of that, are there any more ideas? Is there a reliable solution to this issue? So far I've just seen a lot of "mess with the settings," "the freezer trick worked," and "blame it on the iOS 4 update."
Here are my hardware details:
iPhone 4; iOS 5; 32GB; AT&T; no cellular data plan (July 2011)
TimeCapsule6,113; Firmware 7.5.2; 2TB (September 2011)

Ugh. Apparently "messing with it" is still the answer. I decided to try the LinkSys router I was using before I bought the Time Capsule, and my iPhone connected with no problem.
I went through the steps again, and after rebooting my Time Capsule this time, I can connect again. The troubling thing it that this started with a power-off of my iPhone. No changes or installations, just a reset. Am I going to have to reboot my Time Capsule (which has no power switch, just a cord I have to unplug) every time I reboot my iPhone?

DPM 2012 R2 unable to connect to Database after failed Update Rollup 4 Installation

We have a DPM 2012 R2 Server with SQL Server 2012 installed locally.
We tried to install Rollup 4 for DPM 2012 R2 (KB3009516) using Windows Update
and it failed with error code 0x80070643. Now when we open the DPM Console
it is totally empty (no Protection Groups, Servers, Disks, just like a fresh install).
In the eventlog we get a lot of Errors and warnings:
Event 941 (MSDPM)
Unable to connect to the DPM database. Make sure that SQL Server is running and that it is configured correctly.
Cannot open database "DPMDB" requested by the login. The login failed.
Event 4209 (MSDPM)
The description for Event ID 4209 from source MSDPM cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
The following information was included with the event:
DPM Writer encountered an internal error. Please restart the DPM Writer service, and then try the backup operation again. For additional troubleshooting information, review the application event log and the DPM Troubleshooting Guide.
Event 107 (Report Server Windows Service (MSSQLSERVER)
Report Server Windows Service (MSSQLSERVER) cannot connect to the report server database.
Event 274 (SQLISService110)
Microsoft SSIS Service:
Registry setting specifying configuration file does not exist.
Attempting to load default config file.
Then there are some Errors/warnings from SQLSERVERAGENT about failed scheduled Jobs.
I think the failed Installation changed some database Settings, so that now the DPM Console
cant access the database anymore.
I would be happy if someone can help me getting this Server working again!

Our biggest problem is, that the DPM is not working any more. So there is no chance to backup the SQL Server via DPM.
I think the main problem is that DPM have no access to the database. Every time I start the DPM Application, I get an error "verify that the DPM service is running on this computer". In the eventlog are many errors that the msdpm service was unable
to connect to DPM Database. Another "information" is that the user 'nt authority\system' failed to open the database of dpm.
We've tried to reinstall the DPM but its still the same problem. I suppose that is a corrupt database.
Tomorrow I try to restore the database and hope it will be the solution of our problem.

HT4623 Unable to update applications installed.Error message "unable to connet iTunes" appears after installation icon hanging

Since last two weeks I am unable to update my applications installed in iPad with iOS 6. Also no new app is getting installed. Installation icon appears but after some time error message "unable to connect iTunes " appears.Can some one guide me to solve this problem please?

I've had similar problems. Whenever I try and update apps on the iPhone, the app would apparently download ok, but then not install. This didn't happen with new apps - only ones I was updating.
I got around the issue by downloading the update in iTunes on my Mac, then deleting the app from the phone, then syncing. The problem with this method is that certain apps had saved settings which are lost when following this method.
However... I seem to have fixed the issue after 2 months of trying.
I followed the advice of this page:

Then I repaired disk permissions and finally I completely erased and restored my iPhone BEFORE I synced it after the moving of the Mobile Applications folder.

Exchange 2007 - unable to connect to smtp after severall hours

Hi,
We have a Windows SBS 2008 server with Exchange 2007 SP3. After severall hours we are unable to connect to the server with telnet on port 25 from outside. Sometimes a local telnet on the server still works but not always.
The only solution is to restart the server. The transport service can not be stopped.
Even after a fresh reboot the telnet session does not alway show the smtp banner.

More detailed error message without sensitive informaiton is helpful for the further troubleshooting.
Also, SBS 2008 is different from Exchange 2007 on Windows Server, I suggest ask SBS Forum to double confirm this issue.

Unable to Connect to Database (after server has been re-started)

Hi, I use Essbase Admin Services 7.1.3 and the server was not responding, therefore our IT guys re-started it. Since then I am unable to connect to one of the applications. I have tried to start/Stop the application but it just says "Application did not start". There are 6 databases in this application altogether (3 data and 2 Currency). The application has been there for about 3 years (it holds historic sales data) and there has never been any problems with it. When I tried to Start the application, in the message panel at the bottom it says "Error: 1013015 Unable to Connect to Database (2003)". It's as if there is a problem with this 2003 database but the 2002 and 2004 database are OK. Has anyone ever had this problem and knows how to rectify it?? Thanks in advance. Sarah

It may be that the server restart corrupted the database. Go into database properties and uncheck the box start database with application and then try to restart the application. You can try database validation, or simply reload the database from backup. But you can get the application up and the rest of the databases up by decoupling the database restart from the application start. There will be a .xcp log file in your application directory (and possibly your database directory.) These might help Hyperion Support in identifying the cause of the problem. But the quickest solution would be to reload the database from backup. The serer and application logs can also provide help in identifying the problem. One of the keys is to determine why the server is not responding before restarting the server. It may be that a single application is the source of problem. Typical causes are unscheduled free space restructures, application loads of large databases, and an occasional rogue process. Rather than rebooting the entire box, or even restarting the Essbase server, the safest approach is to only kill the job that is soaking up the cpu cycles, causing the server to be unresponsive. This requires identifying the offending process (esssvr.exe) and killingit. Often that restores the rest of the system to operations, giving you time to focus onthe offending application. You learn thses things when you are pushing the server to its limits (or beyond). If it happens often, you need to do a serious performance audit of teh server and determine whether you need more power and/or memory. And in any case, you are less likely to encounter this sort of problem in the future if you try to limit applications to a single database. This will allow a better utilization of system resources. And also, it's a good idea to shut down applications that you are not going to be using for a while. Every loaded app takes system resources whether or not it is doing anything. So review your list of apps that start on startup and consider unloading apps after completing batch processing. Sorry about the long lecture, but I speak from somewhat painful experience. I hope that this will help you.

Unable to connect to environment after migrating Security from BPC 7.5 to BPC 10.1

We are working on BPC 7.5 to BPC 10.1 NW migration and after migrating the environment, we are unable to connect to environment.
While trying to access, we are getting the following error:
After taking a backup of the necessary environment in BPC 7.5 NW we are carrying out the 2 steps in the BPC 10.1 NW box:
Step 1 : Tcode UJBR - Restore the environment in BPC 10.1
Results: This is working fine.
Step 2: Program UJT_MIGRATE_75_TO_101 - Running the migration utility in BPC 10.1 to make the objects compatible with BPC.
2.1 Execute without Security Mapping
Results:
This is working fine. We are able to connect to the Environment and access the dimensions and models.
2.2 Execute with only Security Mapping
Results:
After this step, we are not able to access the environments and are getting the Logon error.
cannot get model "" in environment "xxxxxx" from Admin module
The logon attempt failed; contact your administrator.
If you have any options to resolve this error, it would be great.
Else, we will have to re-build the entire security design manually.

Thanks for your response. Yes, my id has SAP_ALL authorization.
Still unable to access the environment after migrating security.
To make things less complicated, we went back to BPC 7.5 NW - deleted all unwanted user ids, we kept only 3 user ids. Then, we took backup of application set and restored it in BPC 10.1.
We created a mapping file of those 3 user ids in BPC 10.1 as NW user ids and executed the Migration utility. Again we have same error.

Unable to connect to Internet after Secruity Upgrade - Any Suggestions?

Like several of the previous posts I am unable to connect to the internet. The affected computer is a G3 iMac. It is connected to a Linksys wireless access point. The Linksys wireless router is connected to my cable modem. I get a message that the Built-in Ethernet is active but: Built-in Ethernet has a self assigned IP address and you may not be able to connect to the internet. No combination of changes to the settings has had any effect. I also have tried all of the fixes in the previous posts. None of them have worked. I am not experiencing any connectivity problems with my other computers (2 PCs and 1 Macbook). Everything worked fine until that danged "security upgrade"!

Thank you for the link to MacFixIt. I found what I needed to correct the problem, although all of the fixes referenced computers with the AirPort card and software. I found that removing the extensions AppleAirPort2.kext and AppleAirPortFW.kext solved the problem. Everything seems to be working properly after a restart last night and an overnight shutdown.

Application unable to connect to databse after some time

The problem we are facing is that after some time the application seems to be unable to connect to the database. The only way we have been able to clear the issue is by re starting the application servers. Below is the information I see in my logs any help would be appreciated, thanks

For some reason "sms admins" was no longer even showing in permissions, added it and gave it appropriate permissions (as per article above), including subfolders. After that worked perfectly.
Does anyone have any ideas why a reboot would cause permissions to be lost?

Unable to connect to internet after router reset

Hi,
Am in need of some urgent help please - my MacBook Pro is unable to connect to the internet following a reset and reboot of my Belkin54g router.
Last week I was following some troubleshooting instructions to get my new Vodafone Sure Signal booster to work and it gave some instructions to alter settings in the router's IP configuration - all of a sudden I lost wireless connectivity on both my MacBook Pro & my Dell Laptop.
Last night I spoke to my ISP and they talked me through re-setting the router's settings and now the laptop is back up abd running and fully connected to the wireless and internet.
However, my MacBook Pro appears to detect the wireless, but not the internet connection. I asked the ISP to help but they said they would not help with resetting wireless settings on Macs.
So now i am stuck and don't know what to do. Please, please, please help.

I am having the same problem - all of a sudden from my wireless router I am seeing and connecting to the router but not the internet. I have checked to see if I am getting am IP address from the router and it seems that I am not.
If I connect with the old fashioned wire, it works fine.

Unable to connect to iphone after 10.5 installation

I just installed Itunues 10.5 Beta and now I can't connect to either the appstore, itunes store, my iphone or ipad from my Mac.

[SOLVED] Can't connect to internet after installation

Hello, I just installed Arch, and during the installation I connected to wifi (obviously, since I had to download the packages) with iwconfig and all the other tools on the installer, but after the installation I wasn't connected any more. I have no idea how to connect to the internet now, all the guides online say to run iwconfig or any of the other connection tools, which I can't do since I don't HAVE them.
I can't connect through ethernet either, I think either the ethernet port on my laptop is broken, or the drivers just aren't working (apparently people on the forums have the same problem with my chipset). My friend told me to try sudo wifi-menu, but apparently I need to install dialog for that, which, of course, requires internet connection.
Should I plug in the USB again, and try something with that? Is there any way to set up a wifi connection without using all the fancy connection tools that I don't have? Sorry if I'm being dumb, I have absolutely no idea how to connect. The wiki doesn't help, and neither does google.

I think with the last few times I've done an ArchLinux installation, I've literally set-up the whole thing (as in done base, base-devel, networkmanager, X and a DE) in the Arch LiveCD. LightDM isn't happy being set-up in the LiveCD environment though I've noticed.
For this, I use pacstrap for base and base-devel and then pacman for the rest.

How connect as SYSDBA after installation

Hello,
i have oracle 10g, windows xp both fresh installation.
After i installed oracle i want use the iSQL*Plus DBA url and Enterprise Manager Database Control URL to connect as SYSDBA, my instllation was basic= i set pass for all sys user. Sysem user works fine but sysdba doesnt work: Your username and/or password are invalid.
I am member of ora_dba group. If it is not possible connect as sysdba using iSQL*Plus DBA what is the best way connect as sysdba?

To set up iSQLPlus for SYSDBA capability, you want to read Chapter 2 & 3 of the SQLPlus Reference manual. It provides step by step instructions. http://www.oracle.com/pls/db102/portal.portal_db?selected=3
