Unable to connect to network after Installing Oracle VM server 2.2.1

Dear All,
I have downloaded Oracle VM Server 2.2.1 from Oracle E-Delivery Site.
I installed it on one server. But after installing it I am not able to connect to the network.
When I am trying to ping other servers, it says Destination Host Unreachable.
Do I need to install something for NIC like eth0 or xenbr0... or network connectivity?
Can anyone have soluiton of this problem?
Yours views & comments are highly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance.

This is the output of

I checked on other machines on same network, they have configured same netmask configured.

  • After installing Oracle HTTP Server Failure ORA-12560

    Hello,
i was installing the Oracle HTTP Server, the installation completed succesfully.
But after the install procedure, i was trying to connect to sqlplus with the following commandos:
    sqlplus /nolog
    connect SYS AS SYSDBA
    PASSWORD
    Output: ORA-12560
If i uninstall the HTTP Server, the connect SYS AS SYSDBA execute successfully.
What´s the mistake of my part?
    Thanks for Answering.

    Hi,
the Oracle Database service is up.
I opened the Internet Explorer, and print the following URL:
    http://HOSTNAME:5560/isqlplus/login.uix
If i try to log in as: SYS AS SYSDBA with empty connect descriptor, it returns
    SP2-0306
If i log in as SYS as SYSDBA with the Service_Name from TNSnames.ora (it´s different from the one in the prefilled string)
it´s also SP2-0306 (seems isqlplus don´t like the "AS SYSDBA" :-/
Now i tried with the User SYSTEM:
    SYSTEM without connect identifier: SUCCESS
SYSTEM with the Service_Name from TNSnames.ora: SUCCESS
Something is mysterious. At the Beginning in the Field Connect Identifier there was an prefilled string that includes a different Service Name to the Service Name in tnsnames.ora.
Sorry, i know i´m Beginner with Oracle,
    thanks for your patience.

Kindly advise.Yes, you definately needed to mention that. That suggests you also have 3 $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin directories, each with its own tnsnames.ora file. So you need to make sure you are hitting the correct one. I'd pick one to be the controlling one and set the TNS_ADMIN enviornment variable to point to it.

  • Unable to Connect to WiFi after iPhone power off; WiFi & internet are working with MBP; common problem, no solutions?

Here's my setup: Internet <> Comcast/xFinity supplied cable modem <> new Apple Time Capsule <> iPhone 4 & MacBook Pro (see below for hardware details)
Internet on my iPhone 4 has been acting slow since yesterday evening. My MacBook Pro was running fine, but just to be sure I checked the Comcast website to see that I have only used 50GB of my allotted 250 GB of data for the month, so it's not that.
I decided it must be a problem with just my iPhone, so I opened up the multitasking bar and quit everything in there manually, and then I held the on/off button, and slid the slider to power off. When I started back up, I could not connect to the same WiFi I had just been using. I tried to reconnect and nothing. I tried to forget the network and try again, nothing. I tried to reset all network settings, nothing.
I have tried all the steps listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398 "iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections"
Toggled WiFi off and back on
Made sure I am in range of the router (it's about 8 feet away and my iPhone reports full signal from the network)
Made sure all the hardware is connected and on
Checked other devices (I'm successfully connected with my MacBook Pro right now)
Checked for router firmware upgrades (I have a new Time Capsule from Apple with the current 7.5.2 firmware which I've been using for a month)
    Restarted my device (again)
Checked that the network is available (it does show on my iPhone)
    Restarted my Time Capsule
Checked my router configuration as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3727 "Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network" which involves simply checking to see that WMM is turned on, also stating that WMM cannot be enabled or disabled for Apple's AirPort products.
    Reset my network settings (again)
I have searched and searched for fixes to this problem, and I have additionally tried:
    Enabling/disabling Airplane Mode
Disabling any network password protection/encryption (no luck), re-enabling it (no luck)
    Changing the network password
Checking for hardware addresses present in iOS Settings > General > About (they are present and not zero'ed out)
Switching Bluetooth off (nothing) and back on (nothing)
....and probably a few other things I can't think of right now
    I have yet to try:
The "Freezer Trick" which apparently involves chilling the iPhone to get a temporary fix?
Restoring the iPhone (I would really rather not)
A different WiFi network (other than my own Time Capsule home network or guest network, both of which give the same Unable to Connect error)
So, after all of that, are there any more ideas? Is there a reliable solution to this issue? So far I've just seen a lot of "mess with the settings," "the freezer trick worked," and "blame it on the iOS 4 update."
    Here are my hardware details:
    iPhone 4; iOS 5; 32GB; AT&T; no cellular data plan (July 2011)
    TimeCapsule6,113; Firmware 7.5.2; 2TB (September 2011)
    MacBook Pro 3,1; Mac OS X (10.7.2); 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo; Hi-Res Display; 4GB RAM; 500GB HD (August 2007)
    ...and the Time Capsule config:
    http://cl.ly/BCUt

Ugh. Apparently "messing with it" is still the answer. I decided to try the LinkSys router I was using before I bought the Time Capsule, and my iPhone connected with no problem.
I went through the steps again, and after rebooting my Time Capsule this time, I can connect again. The troubling thing it that this started with a power-off of my iPhone. No changes or installations, just a reset. Am I going to have to reboot my Time Capsule (which has no power switch, just a cord I have to unplug) every time I reboot my iPhone?
    Jinkies.

  • No Listener service after installing Oracle 10g 2

    Hi,
I have finished installing Oracle 10g 2 on a windows 2003 server. But no Listener windows service is not created. Any explanation ? Should I create the manually , How ?
    Many thanks.

No, but I created one after installing Oracle , by
    DBCA.
I'm going to apply RDBMS 5337014 patch to upgrade to
    10.2.0.3. Should I create Listener before ?
    Thank you.
    Message was edited by:
user522961For applying patch actually you don't need listener, but it is best if you have a listener for client to connect, isn't it?

  • Tomcat seems couldn't run after installing Oracle 8.0.6

After installing Oracle 8.0.6, my Tomcat seems couldn't startup. I have set the environment variable for JDBC and Oracle driver like: Classpath = .;c:\orant\jdbc\lib\classes111.zip and path = c:\jdk1.3\bin;c:\orant\jdbc\lib\classes111.zip. However, before installing Oracle, Tomcat was running smoothly. Is installing Oracle make mess between Tomcat and Oracle? Or, is the environment variables are set incorrectly? Please help me to solve the problem. and how to make database connection to Oracle using JSP(Tomcat). Your advice is much appreciated, thanks in advance.

Add a reference to the oracle driver zip file (classes12.zip) to the classpath in the batch file that runs tomcat (i.e. tomcat.bat).
Then, the architectural decision is all yours. You can define a database access layer...
I'd look in to the model 2 architecture if you want to learn how to do this. There are loads of references, none of which I have to hand, but try searching the JDC, there's bound to be plenty.
On the other hand, if you want a quick and dirty solution, then model 1 is the way to go.

  • Cannot connect to database after installing 10g

    Hello friends at www.oracle.com ,
after installing Oracle 10g, I am trying to use programs like SQL*Plus or Forms Builder. However, these programs are asking me for the host string, and:
    - I cannot simply ignore this question, because I cannot connect without this information.
    - But I don't know how I can configure a host string for local access.
    - And I don't know if there's already a default host string for me to use after installing Oracle 10g, because I have no practice in database configuration, since I'm a developer.
    Please help me.
    Best regards,
    Franklin Goncalves Jr.

    Hi ,
Few pointers which may help you , but a small caveat all instructions pertaining to way we do internally in oracle , so there could be some mismatch at customer end , but more or less logic should be same , in case you can't any step revert back :
    1. When Db asks you for connect string essentially it asks for the complete description of the db to connect including :
Db server machine name / ip - that can be resolved from your system if it's a remote server .
    Username , Password ,
Db Instance Name - TnsAlias mentioned in TnsNames.ora .
Now there are few Env. variables that you need to set before running / starting an oracle db instance .
    1. Oracle_Home - Essentially Oralce Installation directory .
    2. Oracle_sid - unique identifier for Oracle Instance .
    3. For OracleDb only set T_Work and TNS_ADMIN env. variables as %Oracle_Home%\work directory and place your Listener.ora file in that folder .
    4. Make your initial parameter file init<Oracle_Sid>.ora in %Oracle_Home%\database -- default location .
    5. Create Oracle Instance specific services to run on a Windows machine , essentially they will be two and default nomenclature is :
    Oracle Service - OracleService<Oracle_Sid>
    Listener Service - Oracle<oracle_sid>TnsListener
Now in %Oracle_Home%\bin directory you have couple have tools to help you in whole process including lsnrctl.exe , tnsping.exe , sqlplus.exe .
and onec you start oracle instance like this :
SQlPlus "/as sysdba" -- OS Authentication
    --- Connected to Idle instance
Sql> startup --> this will take default parameter file
Check out dump location for log and trace files generated if enabled .
    Now client setting :
    1. This is the place where you need appropriate connect string with all components as mentioned above .
Check out any good site for exact syntax , but you need to make sure regarding client you are using for e.g:
    ODP.Net , Java Driver etc .
For Client few important settings :
    Execution directory should contain tnsnames.ora
Create T_WORK and TNS_ADMIN for execution directory .
check out for listener connectivity using :
    tnsping <TnsAlias>
Imp -- Include all relevant stuff in System PATH for execution from anywhere .
Once it connects tehn you can use appropriate username / password for connecting with appropriate connection string .
Normally while installing oracle you would have set the username and password to be changed later .
or otherwise onec you log in as sysdba, you can create new username/password and give it sysdba permissions .
Also imp. thing for connecting from a remote system is having Sqlnet.ora authentication file in client's T_WORK and TNS_ADMIN .
I hope it helps upto some extent .
    regards ,
    Mrinal

  • My computer slows down and hangs after installing oracle 10g

My computer just slows down after installing oracle 10g. I have a pentium 4 3ghz with 512 memory (32 mb used by graphics built in card). It slows down and hanged even if I agjusted the swap memory to 800 mb. I have two swap file/page file - in drive c and drive d. I even cannot shut it down because it takes maybe 30 minutes just to see the "shut-off/log-off" screen.

Before starting up Oracle, when you go to the task manager, how much RAM does it show actually free? 512 MB is pretty small to run Oracle in the first place-- Windows and Office can use a fair chunk of RAM themselves, depending on which Office apps you are running. You may also be suprised by the amount of RAM that a web browser, email client, and the various other apps that folks generally install can use.
