Unable to connect to Oracle 8i through a java program

Hi all,
I have Oracle 8i standard edition. Does this allow remote clients such as a java program trying to connect through a JDBC program?

Yes, you should be able to connect to the Oracle database as long as you have your listener listening on a particular port, your JDBC URL has all the necessary info and you are using Oracle's JDBC driver.

  • Unable to connect to Oracle Applications through SYSADMIN

    Hi,
    I have just installed Oracle Applications 11.5.10 on windows machine.
    everything is completed successfully. Now while connecing through SYSADMIN account, error description says " You have insufficient privileges for the current operation."
    Please guide me to resolve the issue.
    Regards,
    Neeraj

    Hi Neeraj,
    To solved that issue we changed hostname, to eliminate the underscore character, you will need to do that if you are going Internet Explorer on your clients.
    After that, you will need to follow a special procedure to recreate your context files in the Apps and database tiers.
    Try to follow Note: 218089.1 "Frequently Asked Questions About Using AutoConfig With Oracle Applications Release 11i", sections Net Services and Database Connectivity.
    Sorry, but I don't have in this moment the exact Note number that I followed to solve that issue.
    HTH.

    I have an iPhone 4s, and I reset the content and setting. It turned on, I chose English, Australia, and now, I am unable to connect/activate my iPhone through Wi-Fi, and for an unknown reason, it will not allow me to use cellular data or iTunes. I'm not sure of what to do. It's quite frustrating, and all I need is advice, and help. I would much appreciate it. Thank-you.

    In order to download to your phone over the air, you need to be connected to WiFi.
    It's possible the Internet connection through Verizon is not stable enough for the downlaod to begin (it is a very large download).
    You might want to head over to Starbucks with your laptop for the afternoon and see if you can download it over their WiFi.

  • We are unable to connect to Integration builder through VPN.

    Hi,
    We are unable to connect to Integration builder through VPN.
    Below are the errors we get:
    a. In two of the PI 7.0 Systems  we get:
         i. Cannot open connection on host x and port y.
         ii.com.sap.engine.services.rmi_p4.P4IOException: Cannot open connection on host: x and port:y
         iii. java.net.SocketException: Malformed reply from SOCKS server
    b. In the other two PI 7.1 systems we get:

         ii. com.sap.engine.services.jndi.persistent.exceptions.NamingException: Exception while trying to get InitialContext. [Root exception is com.sap.engine.interfaces.cross.DestinationException: cannot establish connection with any of the available instances:

    The hosts and ports are accessible. (Telnets and tracerts work fine for all the systems)
    We are able to access the SLD and Runtime workbench on all the environments. However, Integration Builder tools are not accessible.
    Any clue on what the problem might be?
    Thank you,
    Siva.

    Hi Siva,
    When you execute SXMB_IFR from PI, do you get  Integration Builder page?
    Are you trying to directly access the PI server by the known URLs?
    Also, Following links may be of your use:

  • Unable to connect to oracle driver

    I am unable to connect to oracle driver. My code is as follows --
    try {
    Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver").newInstance();
    } catch (ClassNotFoundException e) {
    System.out.println("Can't find class oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver");
    System.exit(1);
    } catch (Exception e){
    e.printStackTrace();
    When I run the code, I am getting the 'ClassNotFoundException'. I have JVM 1.4 and have included classes12.zip and ojdbc.jar in the class path.
    What am I missing?

    or better yet, upgrade to a less ancient driver jar.
    The driver classname you supplied is correct for Oracle 9i and later, but the driver jar you use is for Oracle 8. It's also for Java 1.2 (hence the "classes12" name), and seriously lacking in features and performance compared to more modern versions.
    Of course if you're stuck with a 10 year old database version you have little recourse but to use it, but no reputable company would use something that old any longer, especially since it's been out of support for ages.

  • Unable to connect to Oracle Applications database (afscpgcs) after clone

    Hi,
    I have just moved (clone using rapidclone) two of our 11.5.10.2 install from a solaris SPARC 8 to 10 . After the clone, while discoverer 10g works perfectly well in one environment, it is giving the error below in the another environment.
    - Failed to connect to database - Unable to connect to Oracle Applications database (afscpgcs)
    Notes:
    1. For the 2 environments, nothing as changed apart from the hostnames.
    2. The password has not changed on both - from source to targets.
    3. This happens when launching discoverer 10g from Apps.... discoverer works well on it own if not launched from apps.
    I raised a SR with oracle and the 2 things they said have not worked. they said
    1. change signon password case parameter - but I cannot find that in the list of system parameters on our system.
    2. The other note says apply patch 6430269 and I can confirm this patch has been on the system for sometime.
    Please advise on this if you have come accross this before and you can help here.
    Thanks

    Thanks for your concern. I have used the notes you listed but no luck. One thing I have to point out here is that I have always cloned from solaris 8 to 8 for years without this problem. Now I am cloning from solaris 8 to 10 and the problems is on just one environment. The other is working well. The problem seems to be related to the apps password but the password has not changed at all. Also, I have tried to change the password to something else and ran autoconfig but no luck. Please help

  • Unable to connect to Oracle Discover Application: ORB Initialization failure

    We are running Discoverer 4.1.37 in a DMZ. Some of our internal users receive a "Unable to connect to Oracle Discoverer Application: ORB Initialization failure ..." error when trying to use Discoverer Plus. Our external users are able to connect using Discoverer Plus. We have SSL and Gatekeeper was configured with the machine's IP address (Exterior address), port 443 (exterior port), and exterior proxy address. Networking changes were made to enable users to use one web address instead of two (one for external and one for internal). Also, if I trying to use the machine's IP address in the web address, Discoverer just says "Loading" in the Discoverer Plus status box. If I use the one web address (originally, the external web address), I can log into Discoverer.

    How are you trying to connect the database using JPA?
    Has your datasource got bind successfully. You should check all these things first. If your datasource has not got binded then debug for that.

  • Unable to connect to Oracle Applications database invalid username/password

    Hi,
    Ou Requirement is we want to connect to Oracle Applications using discoverer plus and discoverer viewer.
    Application Server used : 10.1.2.0.2
    Oracle Applications : R12 RUP4
    We have installed application server 10g with OID and when we try to connect to oracle applications we are getting
    A connection error has occurred.
    - Failed to connect to database - Unable to connect to Oracle Applications database: invalid username/password.

    Hi,
    I think better to check with your sysadmin or DBA on this, I had the same isuse before but Apps 11i with Discoverer, I talked to ERP sysadmin and worked fine.
    Since applications userid cannot talk with Discoverer schema (eul10_us) and it should directly talk with APPS user and then APPS user can talk with Discoverer user.
    To the best of my knowledge I provided.

  • Is there any way to close an IE browser on XP through a Java Program

    Hi All,
    I am working on an application which has a web form with various feilds in it, on selecting the fields and clicking submit, the form will launch a WinRunner application in a remote machine and runs a test. For this I am using Tomcat webserver (V4.0.1). Now the problem I have is, when I submit the form, and WinRunner Launches on the remote machine (which has Operating System XP), should not already have any Browser windows open on it. So, to ensure that no browser windows are open, Initially in my Java Program I want to write a code which cleans up all the OPEN Browser windows on that machine.
    Can any one help me out in finding a way of closing the IE browser windows on a XP machine through a Java program. (There is a servlet in the Tomcat webserver which launches the application based on the browser request). Tomcat is installed on the machine where WinRunner will be launched, So my browser request goes to that machine directly.
    Thank you very much,
    Ramesh Babu M.V.

    You can call some program (via Runtime.exec) that kills all IEXPLORE.EXE processes (ugly but could work for you). For instance, there is a program called kill.exe that you can try getting somewhere. My version of KILL.EXE is really old and somewhat buggy (killed all IEXPLORE.EXE processes but one in my Windows 2003 machine), so try checking if there's some newer version anywhere.
    C:\>kill -?
    Microsoft (R) Windows NT (TM) Version 3.5 KILL
    Copyright (C) 1994-1998 Microsoft Corp. All rights reserved
    usage: KILL [options] <<pid> | <pattern>>*
               [options]:
                   -f     Force process kill
               <pid>
                  This is the process id for the task
                   to be killed.  Use TLIST to get a
                   valid pid
               <pattern>
                  The pattern can be a complete task
                  name or a regular expression pattern
                  to use as a match.  Kill matches the
                  supplied pattern against the task names
                  and the window titles.
