Unable to connect to PC & unable to switch on wi-fi

I have what appears to be two faults with my device.
When I conect via USB to my PC and run BB Desktop Manager, I have the manager desktop app start up; this has the PIN for my device but says 'Disconnected' I have tried
Options > Connection Options > Connection type USB from the drop-down menu but no connection. Everything else in that set-up screen box is 'greyed out'
Also, if i go to
Manage Connections and tick the wi-fi box, after approximately 5 seconds, it just 'unticks' and will not switch on at all.
Any ideas? Or is it merely faulty?

Also, check that you are using only root USB ports...no hubs (sometimes the front-side ports are hubs...use a rear USB port). And make sure to try disabling USB power management in your system configuration (Device Manager).
Apologies in advance if this is redundant -- there's no way to be sure if you've already seen and tried these.
Also, anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Best!
Hopefully something there is helpful!

  • Unable to Connect to 2960G-24TC-L Switch

We have configured a 2960G-24TC-L (Lan Based) switch up with IP address/default gateway (VLan 9) etc and it appears in our network and any device we connect to it has network access but we cannot communicate with it.
We use Cisco 2960s IP Based switches in our network here. With these switches we can manage them via Cisco Network Assistant and Telnet which the LAN based switch does not seem to give. Do you know of any way around this? Is it a configuration issue? Any help you could give would be most appreciated. I have attached a copy of the switch config.

    Hi Owen,
Looking at your config I think interface GigabitEthernet0/20 is the uplink to your Core/Distribution layer device. If this is the full config of your switch than users connecting to any of the ports will be a part of Vlan 1 which is passed over the trunk by default and hence the PC's connecting to this switch are able to communicate with the outside network. If you see the trunk configuration there are no other Vlans passed and hence the Vlan 9 management interface could not be reached.
    Solution
Add the command "switchport trunk allowed vlan add 9" under interface Gig 0/20.
    HTH
    Regards
    Umesh

  • Unable to connect to DNS 323 after switch to Airport Extreme even after factory reset

    Hi everyone,
I have a NAS that I love and have more then my entire life on. I've had it for a long time and it's almost full. Any solution including to format the drives will be shunned.
The NAS has worked fine for a long time since I set it to a static IP. Last week I installed the Aiport Extreme and the NAS was lost. The new IP series start at 10.., and the old at 192... something.
I've searched the web for ideas and the best ones seem to be hooking up the nas to the old router and removing the ip adress. That's a mess. I tried to reset the configuration to facotry settings but that did nothing. I can't find the NAS on my PS, the DLink easy search utility comes up blank.
    Any ideas?

Thank you very much for your reply, I'm sure that it would have worked but something better, more magical happened. It automatically set itself!!
Sometimes I love technology. I resetted the NAS twice. Once with the networkcable in it, and once directly after without the network cable in it. And then I called it a day. Surfed a little and pondered the mess of taking down the NAS from the high half hidden shelf and pulling out the old router, finding this above possible solution and planned to do it another day.
Today I saw that the NAS had appeard on the network! I could access the web interface and set password and static ip from the dynamic one.

  • Unable to connect to Viber&unable to delete it

After installing Viber on MacBook Pro it won't connect, telling me again and again I had no internet connection but I do. So I tried to delete it again but whenever I want to do so, it tells me it can't be deleted since Viber is open. I tried finding a way to 'close' Viber but only failed. What shall I do? There's no point on having an app on the laptop that anyway doesn't work properly.
    Thanks in advance

Can you Force Quit the application (under the Apple menu)? From this article - http://viber.kayako.com/Knowledgebase/Article/View/427/64/how-to-remove-viber-de sktop---mac - it looks as though you only have to trash the application to uninstall it.

  • Printing unable to connect or printer switched off

Hi, just noticed something the other day when printing. I have an imac connected via ethernet to a AEBS connected to internet via modem. I also have a konica and oki connected for printing, via ethernet cable. Started to get message " unable to connect to printer, it may be switched off or IP address wrong." after latest update from apple.
    konica connected via bonjour,
    oki connected via oki tcp/ip.
Now if I start my konica and then oki I get a certain IP address for each model. As I'm printing via tcp/ip for the oki this is important. But if I start my oki and don't switch on my konica the Ip address for the oki changes! and it won't print but sits in the queue with the afor mentioned message. I then have to get the IP address again and change it in the system preferences. This is getting to be a pain. Even if system prefrences is locked, every time I start my machine it becomes unlocked.
Has anyone else had this specificate problem, could other people be getting this problem but not the IP message part.
Has anyone got any ideas. Also the new update is causing no end of problems with quark 7.3 but am working with a quark techician via email so hopefully this will be sorted. Any thoughts anyone

Going to mark as answered as I have a work around

  • Developing an HTML5 app. When I shut down the browser, switch to "Offline" then re-open the browser I get "Unable to connect" as opposed to the cached version.

I'm using FF 4 for Android. This works perfectly for me on my desktop version however on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10 it does not work.
Again, as opposed to getting the local copy defined in the manifest, I get the "Unable to connect" screen.

  • Why am I unable to connect to my airport whenever I put my computer to sleep while the time machine is backing up?

Ever since I installed Lion (version 10.7), I am unable to reconnected to my Time Capsule and get on the internet after I put my computer to sleep and then wake it back up. This doesn't happen all the time -- just when I put my computer to sleep when Time Machine is backing up. If I put my computer to sleep when it's not backing up, it's fine. If it is backing up though, when I wake my computer up again, it is unable to reconnect to the Time Capsule to allow me to use the internet. I have to wake the machine up, click on "Stop Backing Up", wait 30-60 seconds, click "Turn Wi-fi off", wait another 30 seconds, turn it back on and then I am fine. If I just turn wifi off and on without stopping the backup, it doesn't work and I am still unable to connect to the internet. I currently have 10.7.1 but it still has the same bug. 10.6.x did not have this bug. Other than "don't put your computer to sleep when Time Machine is backing up," any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In this case, that hint may help.
According to Apple support, some configuration files may get damaged or corrupt by time, after updates or upgrades and should get deleted ocasionally.
OK ... switch off wifi on the machine.
Then go on and delete the files mentioned below.
You will find the files on your system drive (not your home folder) as follow:
    /library/preferences/com.apple.preferences.accounts.plist
    /library/preferences/com.apple.preferences.sharing.plist
    /library/preferences/SstemConfiguration/preferences.plist
    /library/preferences/SstemConfiguration/com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
If there are files in this folders with the same name but additional .orig at the end, delete them too.
It is possible that not all files are on your system. That will be ok.
The files will get newly created by system on reboot.
    For that reboot the machine.
    Join your wireless again.
If you are using Lion, the Library is hidden. You have to use (menu bar) "go to" -> "go to folder" on finder to access them.
If the problem (unlikely) persists, report back here.

  • IPod Touch unable to connect to wireless network.

I just got an iPod Touch 4 for my birthday (w00t), however I cannot seem to get it to connect to my wireless router. Everytime I try, it says Unable to connect to network. I reset the routers password, but it didn't do anything. I saw in other threads people said to switch ti WPA security, but mine is already set as WPA Personal. I'm not sure what to do! Please help!

NO I did not and thank you very much for the advice.  My problem was stated incorrectly in that while I am able to connect to the wireless from that point on I am unable to connect to the internet.  I will check the article referred to.

  • Unable to Connect to WiFi after iPhone power off; WiFi & internet are working with MBP; common problem, no solutions?

Here's my setup: Internet <> Comcast/xFinity supplied cable modem <> new Apple Time Capsule <> iPhone 4 & MacBook Pro (see below for hardware details)
Internet on my iPhone 4 has been acting slow since yesterday evening. My MacBook Pro was running fine, but just to be sure I checked the Comcast website to see that I have only used 50GB of my allotted 250 GB of data for the month, so it's not that.
I decided it must be a problem with just my iPhone, so I opened up the multitasking bar and quit everything in there manually, and then I held the on/off button, and slid the slider to power off. When I started back up, I could not connect to the same WiFi I had just been using. I tried to reconnect and nothing. I tried to forget the network and try again, nothing. I tried to reset all network settings, nothing.
I have tried all the steps listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398 "iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections"
Toggled WiFi off and back on
Made sure I am in range of the router (it's about 8 feet away and my iPhone reports full signal from the network)
Made sure all the hardware is connected and on
Checked other devices (I'm successfully connected with my MacBook Pro right now)
Checked for router firmware upgrades (I have a new Time Capsule from Apple with the current 7.5.2 firmware which I've been using for a month)
    Restarted my device (again)
Checked that the network is available (it does show on my iPhone)
    Restarted my Time Capsule
Checked my router configuration as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3727 "Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network" which involves simply checking to see that WMM is turned on, also stating that WMM cannot be enabled or disabled for Apple's AirPort products.
    Reset my network settings (again)
I have searched and searched for fixes to this problem, and I have additionally tried:
    Enabling/disabling Airplane Mode
Disabling any network password protection/encryption (no luck), re-enabling it (no luck)
    Changing the network password
Checking for hardware addresses present in iOS Settings > General > About (they are present and not zero'ed out)
Switching Bluetooth off (nothing) and back on (nothing)
....and probably a few other things I can't think of right now
    I have yet to try:
The "Freezer Trick" which apparently involves chilling the iPhone to get a temporary fix?
Restoring the iPhone (I would really rather not)
A different WiFi network (other than my own Time Capsule home network or guest network, both of which give the same Unable to Connect error)
So, after all of that, are there any more ideas? Is there a reliable solution to this issue? So far I've just seen a lot of "mess with the settings," "the freezer trick worked," and "blame it on the iOS 4 update."
    Here are my hardware details:
    iPhone 4; iOS 5; 32GB; AT&T; no cellular data plan (July 2011)
    TimeCapsule6,113; Firmware 7.5.2; 2TB (September 2011)
    MacBook Pro 3,1; Mac OS X (10.7.2); 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo; Hi-Res Display; 4GB RAM; 500GB HD (August 2007)
    ...and the Time Capsule config:
    http://cl.ly/BCUt

Ugh. Apparently "messing with it" is still the answer. I decided to try the LinkSys router I was using before I bought the Time Capsule, and my iPhone connected with no problem.
I went through the steps again, and after rebooting my Time Capsule this time, I can connect again. The troubling thing it that this started with a power-off of my iPhone. No changes or installations, just a reset. Am I going to have to reboot my Time Capsule (which has no power switch, just a cord I have to unplug) every time I reboot my iPhone?
    Jinkies.

  • MacBook (10.4.11) is unable to connect to wifi networks

After updating with 10.4.11 (and the associated 2008-01 Airport update) a few months ago, my Intel MacBook has been unable to connect to my WPA2 network.
It will see my network name in the Airport drop-down menu, but fail to actually connect. The icon appears as if the notebook is rapidly connecting and disconnecting -- switching from five bars of signal to none and back again every few seconds. During this time, my MacBook never reports getting a connection, and all other devices on the network experience severe interference. I am able to connect to most, but not all, unsecured networks.
System Profiler reports my wireless card as AirPort Extreme (0x168C, 0x86), Firmware Version: 1.3.5 .
My router is a D-Link DGL-4300 with the most recent firmware. I am running an 802.11g network at 2.437ghz.
I've tried the following already, unfortunately without success:
. Switching to WPA from WPA2
. Removing all the preferred networks from my System Preferences and adding them back in again.
. Removing all the network info in my keychain and reconnecting to the network from scratch
. Switching the router to channel 11 (away from 6)
. Turning Interference Robustness on and off
. Manually specifying IP and DNS in my network settings, rather than DHCP
. Removing all other wireless devices from the network
Looking elsewhere on the net I find that a few other people seem to have this problem, and so far the only solutions I've seen are "roll back to 10.4.9" and "disable security on your home network," both of which are obviously untenable for security reasons.
The one (and only) WPA-secured router I am able to connect to is the Airport at my local Genius Bar, so they're unable to help me.
Has anyone else seen this, or have any ideas?
    Thanks.

Well, I downloaded Pacifist and the 10.4.11 Combo Update. Pacifist verified the AppleAirPort and AppleAirPort2 .kexts on my drive as matching the ones in the package, but I forcibly reinstalled them anyway and rebooted. Still no luck -- now the network is back to the four-bars-no-bars death loop without even popping up the error dialog.
Luckily however Pacifist turned out to be the solution to the problem. A Google search on "Apple broke Airport" eventually led me to this thread with detailed instructions on rolling back to the previous version of the Airport driver, before the 2008-01 update: http://www.tuaw.com/2008/03/28/airport-extreme-update-2008-001-for-tiger/#c11509 504
I'll paraphrase it here for anyone else who has this problem:
Download the Airport Extreme client software version 2007-004
    from http://tinyurl.com/yw3dnu.
Download and install Pacifist from www.charlessoft.com.
    Delete /system/library/extensions/io80211family.kext
    In Pacifist, open AirportExtremeUpdate2007004.dmg
and expand the sub folders until you can see the io80211family.kext
extract and direct it to extract the file to the
    /system/library/extensions/ folder
    restart
So now my Airport works again, though without whatever security they put in with 2008-01, I guess.
I suppose I'll have to embargo future OS updates until this gets straightened out, or else re-rollback the io80211family.kext after each one. I sure would like to talk to whoever wrote this update at Apple!
    Thanks for your time, BD.

  • I have a Motorola SB6141 modem that is connected to a time capsule. I am unable to connect to the internet on my laptop and playstation 3

Ive just switched to a "Motorola SURFboard eXtreme Cable Modem" which is connected to a time capsule.
I am unable to connect to my internet via. wifi on my Playstation.
I have already tried many different attempts to connect to the internet. I have tried to directly connect to the internet using an ethernet cable as well as restarting my mac laptop and playstation. I am only able to connect to the internet on my main computer.
    Please help?
I tried being the most descriptive I could

I am only able to connect to the internet on my main computer.
What IP does your main computer get.. ?? Post a screenshot if you can as it helps to see the details.
When you open the airport utility on the main computer.. click on the TC what errors does it show?
They will list in the summary.
What mode is the TC in? If the setup went wrong it might be bridged when it should be in router mode..
Remember any time to change things around with cable modems you MUST shut down the modem as well.. it cannot change the MAC address of the first item easily so need to be off.. a few minutes at least.. sometimes up to 20min or longer. Make sure the TC captures the public IP on the wan interface.. which is the only way this will work with a pure modem.
The most recent TC can still have issues.. new AC version TC and AE have the Max amount of issues with SB6121 and 6141.. there seems to be some ethernet issue between them..
What model TC do you have??
You can slow the LAN port down or specify the actual speed in the Gen1-4.

My connection is fine, I have checked the modem, router, and checked in other browsers with the same results. I am unable to contact facebook to talk to their support team.
I am able to connect on my pc, to facebook, if I type in mobile before facebook.

I am having a serious probelm that I couldn't solve for days.
I have subscribed to Adobe Creative Cloud. I have installed Adobe Application Manager to my MacBookAir and it worked without any problems. Later I have installed it to my iMac and used without any problems but a few days ago it suddenly started to give error while opeening of Adobe Applicaion Manager afterwards I write my Adobe ID and Password. "Unable to connect Adobe." At the same time I tried to connect with My MacBookAir with same wireless and there is no problme either with internet connection or Abobe subscription. A few days agao I had connected to Adobe Support Chat and I had done whatever they said but the problem hadn't been resolved. I have cleared hosts file, uninstalled all Adobe applications and files and tried to reinstall, controlled firewall off but nothing solved the problem.
I am in great problem. And for my job I need my applications. Would you please help me or give me solution ideas?

Something is blocking communication across the network. I suspect it is something on your computer. It may be a software (anti-virus perhaps) or a firewall.
If you connect to the internet via a proxy server, it may be blocking communications. Some details in the following thread as well: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4834130
So, try switching off your anti-virus/firewall for a while and see if you're able to connect. Let us know how it goes.
