Unable to connect to printer through wireless connect

Folks,
I hope someone can help me.
I have a Dell 3110cn printer on my wired network, works great with both MacBook (with Leopard) and windows through wired network.
Problem begins when my MacBook (with Leopard) is connected to my wireless network then it will not even ping the printer ip address. I am able to access other shared folders on my wireless network.
Please guide me if I am doing something wrong. Wireless router is a Dlink DI-524 with WEP 64bit encryption.

Please ignore this question, the problem was in a setting within the printer.
I always thought that it was the leopard wireless problem to blame.

  • HP Photosmart Plus B209a is no longer printing through wireless connection.  Appreciate any suggestions...

Hello.  My HP Photosmart Plus B209a all in one printer stopped working through wireless connection yesterday.  I have tried to delete the printer and reinstall using HP Setup Assistant, but when I attempt to configure the device for a wireless network, the HP Setup Assistant quits unexpectedly. I can succesfully set up the printer, but only for use with a USB cable.  I noticed that there was an HP printer software update installed yesterday version 2.16.1. Could this have anything to do with it?  I read something about airprint in the support discussions but I dont see the nearby printer option anywhere?  I checked the list of compatible printers and mine is on there so I am not sure what I am missing here.  I would hate to go out and buy a new printer.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

I have the same printer but my problem stems from installing a new router. I went through the exact same steps that you did and the HP Installer crashed on me 5 different times at the exact same spot. I called HP and got through to them and after 15 minutes he informed me that this particulart printer is no longer "supported" and software is not available. I told him that I downloaded the update that was available today. He was no help whatsoever. I also can print via USB but that is not at all what I want. The downside of this printer anyways is that it is not Airprint compatible. So, its either reinstall the old router or buy a new printer. This *****!

  • Cannot Connect to Domain Through Wireless Connection

    Hello TechNet Gurus,
As the title suggests, I am having issues connecting to my domain through a wireless connection. I am running Windows Server 2008 R2 (Data Center and Enterprise) to build my understanding of server administration to supplement my undergraduate
coursework (B.S. Computer Engineering & Cyber Security minor). So far I have a working domain controller attached to a switch that I re-purposed from an old WRT54G Linksys router. In turn, the switch is attached to a WRT54GS Linksys router.
When connected through physical media, the domain controller works as expected. I can connect to the domain from two personal laptops running Windows 7 Professional and from two virtual environments running Windows 7 Enterprise. Through these connections, I
can divvy out group policy, access network drives, and other services successfully. However, I attempted to connect wireless, and when I do, I continually get an error indicating that my username/password is incorrect. I carefully re-input the login information
(over-and-over), and I even recreated the user/computer objects. All to no avail.
After a couple of days of research between classes, homework, and work, I found some promising tips:
Added the following entry to the registry for the local machine: %comspec% /c netsh wlan connect name="JBnetwork"
Added the following local group policy (using gpedit.msc): Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative templates\System\Logon\Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon
Unfortunately, the above tips have not resolved the issue. From what I understand, the issue stems from the order that the wireless software and domain authenticate. I have also read that this may purely be a networking issue that is not directly related
to Active Directory or Windows 7 configurations. Whatever the situation is, this has me completely stumped and I could use some expert advice.
This is my ipconfig, for the reference:

    @Zanderol24,
Thanks for following up with me. I completely forgot about this post because I was able to figure out a solution by poking around in Group Policy.
The issue was a pretty simple fix. I tweaked the wireless policy a bit: Computer Configuration > Policies > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Wireless Network (IEEE 802.11) Policies.
    Thanks again!

  • Printer loses wireless connection when it goes to sleep?

My printer loses wireless connection to my router when it goes to sleep and I have to input the WEP key again.  As long as the printer is awake it works fine.  The wireless light remains on.
Printer is HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus and the router is a Verizon 7500.

If you mean WPA, that is good.
Let's set a static IP address for the printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') to 250
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
    - Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS. This is Google DNS. You can choose another external DNS if you wish.
    - Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

  • Haelp! cannot print over wireless connection

I just set up a wireless network in our house, with a 2Wire 1701HG gateway (wifi plus ethernet.). I have a Brother neworkable laser printer, connected to the wireless router via an ethernet cable.
When I have my iBook also conected by ethernet cable, I can print, no problem. But when I am connected by wireless, when I try to print it always says "AppleTalk inactive," even though when I go to the the Network Preference panel it says it is active!
The long and the short of it is I cannot print via wireless connection. What do I need to do to remedy this situation?
    Thank you!!!!

This snippet is from the Tiger printing help area. I had similar difficulties and it worked for me:
Delete and recreate the printer queue
    1. Open Printer Setup Utility (10.3) or Print Center (10.2).
    2. Delete any queues for the printer model you have.
    3. Add a new queue, and choose Bonjour (formerly "Rendezvous"). It should locate and show the printer attached to the base station.
    Good luck!

  • Can't print through wireless hookup. Printer says there is a router/access point channel conflict.

I cannot print. Printer is wirelessly connected to the airport extreme router.
My printer says that the network connection passes all tests but there is a note: "A router/access point channgel conflict has been detected.
The Epson Printer utilitie says only "Communication error". I've tried changing channels to no avail.

I finally figured out how to fix this after a few weeks of being with out my printers.  I tried the reboot of everything and it didn't work.  I went into the airport utility and start poking around.  I tab through all the various setting and everything looked good.  By virtue of tabbing the "update" button was active.  I hit that and the airport extreme router rebooted and bingo the printer works for all my PCs and MACs.  This seem to have started with the last epson update but who knows.  Good luck

  • This past month I have been having problems connecting to my home wireless connection. Previously I had no problems whatsoever. I have tried unplugging the wireless router, turning off the wirless airport, deleting the network name from my list of server

This past month I have been having problems connecting to my home wireless connection. I have a MacBook Pro OSX Version 10.6.8. Previously I had no problems whatsoever. I have tried unplugging the wireless router, turning off the wirless airport, deleting the network name from my list of servers and trying to reconnect this way. These methods have worked temporarily, but the same problem keeps coming back. Most of the time my personal wireless connection does not even come up among the list of available networks. My fellow flatmates have PCs and both of them are able to connect to the network without problem.
The router is a d-link model DIR-615. I am not tech savy, so if any other information need to be provided in order to better understand my situation, please let me know.
    Please help me!

If I open the list of networks in a window it says "connection timeout," but if I just select it from the drop down it tries for awhile and then stops with no prompt. When I try to run network diagnostics it says "sorry, we can't connect to the internet" (or some solution-free variation of that)

  • Connecting printer through wireless Print Server

Wireless Dlink DPR-1260, hooked up to network. ( using Linksys wireless router and Windows XP Home)
Two usb printer ports. Loaded HP laserjet 2300 series using the print server software wizard.. works fine...prints remotely.
The P.S. created the tcp/ip ports and loaded the drivers after requesting the HP driver disk.
But, when loading the HP color laserJet 2550 series, it asks for the disk, but says the driver inf files not available. I downloaded from the HP web site the XP drivers, and when I pointed to the unzipped files, said the same thing.
I used the XP driver... should I have used the Universal Print Driver?
On the P.S. screen the HP 2300 shows up as HP LaserJet 2300 series, and the LPR Queque name is : LaserJet 2300
But when I manually loaded the 2550, The name shows up as HP color LaserJet 2550 ser and the Queque name is color LaserJet 25.
Both printers work fine connected directly to the printer, but the 2550 will not print through the P.S.
Since the drivers for the 2550 are loaded and it prints when hard wired, tell me how to find the drivers installed on the computer, so I can point to them there.
    Thanks

Printing with the built-in network protocols (Windows Printing, IP printing) requires a CUPS print driver. HP doesn't provide CUPS drivers (yet) - their drivers are written to only use USB. You can try the HP Photosmart P1100 Gimp-Print driver included in OS X.
There is no CUPS driver for your specific model, that I can find.

  • Is the new imac compatible with the dell v313w printer for wireless connection?

Is the new iMac compatible via wireless connection with the Dell V313W printer?

    Hi Sara!
I got an email refering me to your post.  Ok, www.MacMall.com is a US website that sells Apple products.  I bought my iMac&printer through their website and worked with their customer service department to get my iMac communicating with the Dell V313W printer.  They have people that will take calls any time-any day at phone number 1-800-622-6255.  The other option since you are in France would be to contact a local Apple dealer...or see if they have an authorized dealer in Europe that could help.  I purchased the Apple Care Support contract with the iMac but they were unable to help since they weren't familiar with the Dell printer.
As I mentioned in my previous post the things we tried were: 1) If I remember right... I downloaded the Dell V313W printer driver from the Dell website then connected the iMac to the printer via the USB cable and established communication. I then disconnected the cable and 2) I moved the iMac and printer closer to my wireless router then 3) I turned on "Printer Sharing" on the iMac - I think this is a critical step...to do this go to System Preferences > Hardware > Print&Scan.  In the window that opens make sure the box is checked that says "Share this printer on the network" then go to the "Sharing Preferences..." box and check the "Printer Sharing" and "Scanner Sharing" boxes in the window that opens.  When I did all this the iMac went through it's routine to find the printer and the connection was finally established!
One more thing, make sure if your wireless router is locked for security that you enter the correct password when prompted...this might have been one of my problems also!
    Hope this helps.
    All the best,
    mw

  • My ipad with retina display can't find my epson artisan 730 wireless printer. They are on the same network and printer's wireless connection is excellent. What are the steps to fix this?

My imac won't pick up the printer either. Even after I updated it's software.  My ipad is new.  Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

No change. The printer still doesn't show up on my devices even though they are all on the same network.  On the printer's connection print out the connection reads Pass and that the network is working correctly.  However, then it states "*A router/access point channel conflict has been detected. If you have problems printing or scanning, Improve your wireless network environment." "*If the problems persist, see your documentation for help and networking tips."
I've gone through all the documentation and still can't figure out what the problem is.  I've had the router checked out by my building and they claim everything is in order.  I have a excellent signal.

  • Officejet pro 8500 a909n Unable to locate - The printer is not connected

Something, unknown to me, must have recently changed with my printer and or my iMac and MacBook Pro.  I was suddenly unable to print.  When I attempt to print I get this icon on the dock:
I then click on the icon and this is the window that is displayed:
I completed a #6 restart and restarted the computers.  I had no problem establishing a connection with the router, which is a Time Capsule.  On the OSX Printers and Scanners Page I initially had a green light, but after attempting to print the light changes to amber and states "in use Last Used".  If I turn off the wireless radio, I can connect using USB, but prefer to use wifi.  However, after I walk away from the computer for awhile and then come back to print I get the same message.
Is there something I can do to fix this.

  • Trying to connect 2nd printer through Ethernet Port of AEX b/g

    Hello all, Hello (maybe) Duane,
I do have a 2nd Airport Express b/g on our home network, and have a normal laser printer running as a wireless bonjour printer through that 2nd AEX, which is set up as a remote base station. I do have the Ethernet port free on that AEX, and want to connect a Brother 4040cn network ready color laser printer through the Ethernet port of this base station and use it as a bonjour printer? wirelessly... The AEX is set up as a remote base station to the main base station using WDS... I read a lot that the ethernet port only works when this station is in WDS mode - it is, but I still can't get it to work...
I talked to a guy at the Apple Store and he told me it should work, and that I somehow have to configure the Ethernet port of the AEX as a bridge so that could work.... ? It is not a supported solution (as expected...) so I tried to find that, but I am not able to work it out.
I can see the printer using the brother software, it shows me the status of the printer correctly, but I cannot get any printouts. The printing windows shows the printer, even lets me pick it as a bonjour printer, sends it off to the printer, but nothing arrives at the printer... I can use the web based printer management utility, which directly connects to the using the IP address, and can send stuff that is printed out, but i cannot get it working.
Hope that makes sense - anyone out there able to help?
    Ningaloo

    Hello,
If you wanted to setup a wireless network, you could look at some Wireless Ethernet USB adapters (will work just like the AirPort):
    http://www.afterthemac.com/
Understand that the "AirPort" is just Apple's fancy name for Standard WiFi Networking. It's not anything special. Just Apple's implementation.
So, any WiFi Ethernet Adapter is going to be compatible with Apple's Airport network.
If you want to use the standard USB to Ethernet adapters, then you could look to see if you can find a suitable driver that will either enable your adapter (the one you just purchased) to work, or perhaps find an adapter that has a 3rd-party driver and then purchase that one. The following website lists Mac OS drivers that will enable "Windows-Only" adapters to work:
    http://www.sustworks.com/site/newsusbethernet.html
The problem there, is that most USB to Ethernet (not wireless) adapters come only with Windows drivers. So, this website provides information and support to make those devices with with Mac OS X.
Otherwise, I have not found a pre-packaged USB to Wired Ethernet device that comes with Mac drivers.
But, the first website lists lots of USB to Wireless Ethernet adapters that come with Mac Drivers.
    I hope this helps.

  • Problem connecting laptop to printer via wireless connection

I installed my HP Photosmart D110 series and the printer is not detecting my wireless internet (which is a Verizon Wireless card) . I only know the basics when it comes to computers, internet, etc. Therefore, this might be a completely stupid question, but is it possible to connect only through my Verizon card or do I need to purchase a router as well?
When I print my Wireless Network Test Report from my printer it tells me that it's recommended to change my network name to make it unique? I have no idea how to do this. And is it even applicable here?
I would greatly appreciate some feedback here.Thank you!

    OK,
    1. On the printer: Setup > Network > Reset network Defaults
    2. On your PC, go to Start > Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center.  Look for a wireless network that starts with 'hp" or "HP".  Join it.  There is no password.  On the printer: Setup > Network > WIreless Network Test.
    3. Now, in Start > Control Panel > Printers, Click the Add a printer
    4. Select Local printer
    5. Select Create a new port and select Standard TCP/IP Port and click Next button.
    6. Under Device type, select TCP/IP Device. Under Hostname or IP address, enter the printer's host name (found on the printer's network configuration report the generated above). Click Next.
If you get a message about Additional Port Information Required, then the printer was not found using the host name. You can go back and retry or using the printer's IP address instead of the host name.
    7. Select Hewlett-Packard from the list of manufacturers and select and select your printer model. Click Next.
If your printer model was not listed, then select Have Disk, browse the HP CD that came with your printer and select the first file that starts with hp and ends with inf. Click Open then OK. Select your printer model. Click Next.
    8. If you are asked, use the currently installed driver.
    9. It will ask for the Printer name -- enter a new name or use the existing one. This will be the name of the printer that you select from other applications.
    10. You may be asked to share the printer. Make a choice and click Next.
    11. The Print Test Page box appears. Go ahead and print it.
    12. Click Finish.

  • Printing over wireless connection

How would you set up a powerbook to print over a wireless connection? I set up a wireless network for my mom (she had a Dell Inspiron8600) when I passed on my PowerBook to her. Wireless internet connection is working fine. The main unit connected to the modem is the Inspiron. I can't seem to figure out what I have to do to get the PowerBook to print. If someone could walk me through the setup process I would sure appreciate it! The printer hooked up to the Inspiron is an HP Deskjet 5470. It is not being recognized by the PowerBook.

Make sure you have the latest drivers on your Mac and make sure the printer is shard on your pc. Go to system preferences on your mac click on "printer/fax" click on the + sign. Then go to "more printers" then find your printer on your network.
This technique has gotten my mac to communicate with my printer, but not actually print but maybe it will be successful for you.

  • Problems Connecting Computer & Printer Via Wireless

I've recently just bought a HP Deskjet 2544 printer. I've installed the printer as per all the instructions, however when i tried to install this via the wireless it could not find the computer even though it was connected to the wireless in the house. Because of this problem, I was able to install via the USB cable.
Since installing I can print only via the USB cable. I've went back and tried to connect the computer and the printer via wireless and everything is telling me they are connected (i've ran a systems report and all the lights are on, on the printer), however I keep getting the same messafe "unable to connect to your computer".
Any ideas how to fix this, so that I can print wirelessley?
    Thanks
