Unable to connect to the Update Center

Using: Windows XP SP 1
I downloaded and installed NetBeans 5.5 just a few minutes ago and I'm unable to connect to the Update Center. I can connect using NetBeans 5.0.
Has anyone else run into this problems?

Ok, I was able to get NB 5.5 to connect to the Update Center after temporarily disabling Norton Internet Security. Not the ideal solution, obviously, so I'll have to figure out some kind of 'rule' to make NIS to allow NB 5.5 to connect to the Update Center.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect to your computer & click on the "Update your device using iTunes".
Tip - You may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. After you update to iOS 5.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

  • Since updating to iOS 6 on my ipad i am unable to connect to the internet, itunes or the app store. I have tried many suggestions about changing the dat, logging in/out of itunes etc but nothing has worked! Please help :)

Since updating my ipad to iOS 6 a few days ago i can't seem to get onto the internet, the app store or itunes, nor can i update to iOS7!! I sent an email to apple support and they said we don't handle these issues and redirected me back to the help forums which i have already seen and tried everything other people have suggested and nothing has worked (changing date, signing in/out of itunes etc). When i go to app store the screen is blank, in itunes it just keeps saying loading but never gets anywhere and same with the internet! When i go to settings to update to iOS 7.0.4 it says software update unavailable, try again later. Not sure what to do now. Nothing works, can't use my apps, facebook, music etc. Will contact apple again and try get some answers. But thanks for any info

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

Yes. You can't update or restore any GSM iPhone without a valid sim card installed in the phone. The sim card need not be activated, but it must be valid & present. If you want to update, you need to get a sim card.

  • My S4 is unable to connect to the cellular network after the 4.4.2 update failed to install this afternoon.

I attempted to install the OTA update for 4.4.2, but received an error message that the installation failed. When my phone rebooted it was unable to connect to the cell network and was extremely sluggish. I own an iMac and the S4 is no longer recognized by Kies or Android File Transfer.
I attempted turning off the phone and removing the battery and Sim, to no avail. I also attempted to access the recovery tools, but the phone will no longer boot to recovery. I tried a factory reset, but I do no recall ever setting the security PIN it seems to require.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year. Then see if you can connect to the store.

  • Database Error (maybe) while working on User-Role or Assiging a Cloud (Unable to connect to the VMM database because of a general database failure)

    Hi,
Suddenly I got this error in SCVMM 2012-R2 Roll-up 1:
When working with User-Roles (create/update) or assigning a Cloud :
"VMM encountered a critical exception and created an exception report....
search user forums for well-known failure root causes for self-help" (how sweet)... (if it's "well known", why not coding the exception handling correctly?)
The relevant part of the report might be this:
    "SCVMM Version=3.2.7620.0
    SCVMM flavor=C-buddy-RTL-AMD64
    Default Assembly Version=3.2.7620.0
    Executable Name=vmmservice.exe

    Base Exception Method Name=System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError
Exception Message=Unable to connect to the VMM database because of a general database failure.
Ensure that the SQL Server is running and configured correctly, then try the operation again."
(side question: what does this mean: "Ensure that the SQL Server is ... configured correctly"?
    I can say that :
SQL is configured by the book, that all services are running (did a reboot of VMM server too) and that all other VMM functions work OK. I don't believe that SQL is only used for user-roles...
Acting as Domain admin and VMM admin.
    All updates are installed.
Please find the report @the and and a screen shot attached.
    Thanks for any help.

    Thomas.

I (quite honestly) am one of those folks that generally do not read the KB articles associated with a patch or UR or SP - as you don't expect details like have been put into this particular one.
But as Kristian pointed out - within that KB article is the SQL script that modifies / updates this SQL Stored Procedure.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/scvmm/archive/2014/01/29/how-to-update-scvmm-2012-r2-to-update-rollup-1.aspx
Needless to say, the feedback was given to MSFT that folks would overlook that this SQL script needed to be run.  So we are just trying to help out.

  • SCVMM 2012: Unable to connect to the VMM management server localhost:8100

    Hi everyone
I have difficulties connecting with the Admin UI to the SCVMM server running on the same machine. This is the error message I see:
Unable to connect to the VMM management server localhost. The Virtual Machine Manager service on that server did not respond.
Verify that Virtual Machine Manager has been installed on the server and that the Virtual Machine Manager service is running.
Then try to connect again. If the problem persists, restart the Virtual Machine Manager service.
    ID: 1602
I checked that the service is running and checked with the Resource Monitor that vmmservice.exe is really listening on port 8100. The Resource Monitor also shows some traffic between itself, the service and the DC. But all traffic dies down after a few seconds,
then nothing happens for a minute, then I get the above error message. The only SCVMM related entry in the eventlog is this (was logged when I manually tried restarting the service):
Failed to stop service. System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
    at Microsoft.VirtualManager.Engine.VirtualManagerService.OnStop()
    at System.ServiceProcess.ServiceBase.DeferredStop()
But I guess that entry is of no help. Other important things that might be relevant:
This installation worked fine three months ago. Since then only the automatic updates were installed.
DPM (the 2012 CTP for Win8) is installed on the same server.
After it didn't work I installed SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 (offered by Microsoft Update)
SCVMM is part of a small test installation (~10 VMs or so), no valuable data, so there's no risk when messing around
Control panel shows the version number 3.1.1042.0 for "Microsoft System Center 2012 Virtual Machine Manager".
Is there anything else I could try? How can SCVMM stop to work, all by itself? Leaves a sour taste...
    Cheers,
    Simon

When such odd behaviour occur, it is a good tip to start a VMM trace to see where things are actually going wrong. And suck files is interestin for MS support once the obvious things for errors, are eliminated out of the picture.
VMM has dependencies such as SQL, permissions and service accounts. All of these variables does
also have dependencies that should be verified. Verify that the account for the service does is not locked/expired pwd, that the SQL is up and running - and actually is working. There is a lot of logs to check in order to determine the root cause of
    this behaviour.

  • The search request was unable to connect to the Search Service

I have upgraded from WSS 3.0 to SharePoint Foundation 2010. So far everything appears to be OK apart from my search.
When I attempt a search I get the following:
The search request was unable to connect to the Search Service.
I checked the Manage Database Update Status in Central Admin and noticed the following(an upgrade is required):
Also, I checked Manage Services on Server and noticed that the only search related service is 'SharePoint Foundation Help Search'.
If I go into Manage Service Applications and click new there is no option to add a search service.
    Finally I tried PSConfig:
PS C:\Users\administrator.ACHESON> PSConfig.exe -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force
    -cmd applicationcontent -install -cmd installfeatures

    Hi,
SharePoint Foundation the search service should be installed by default.  It's not the same as with 2010 Standard or Enterprise where you can create a "Service Application" for it.
Follow this article to configure SharePoint Foundation Search:
    http://plexhosted.blogspot.com/2011/11/how-to-configure-sharepoint-foundation.html
Meanwhile, here is a thread which discusses the similar question:

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8500A Plus "unable to connect to the server"

I have had this printer for a couple years and now it is saying it is unable to connect to the server.  The light under the wifi symbol is not lit up and nothing happens when I press that button.
I have restarted the printer, reinstalled the driver, restarted the router ... to no avail.
The router is working properly as my 2 computers are both working.

    Hi bhappie,
Welcome to the HP Support forums.  I gather that you are unable to connect your Officejet 8500A plus printer to your wireless network.
This printer can be connected by an ethernet cable or connected to your wireless network but cannot support both simultaneously as referenced in the document The Printer Does Not Support Ethernet (Wired) and Wireless Network Connections at the Same Time.  To setup the wireless feature you will need to unplug the ethernet cable.
Your wireless printer can be easily connected to your wireless network from the front panel of your printer.  If you are unsure how to do this the instructions can be found in your User Guide on page 219 in the section titled “To set up a wireless communication using the Wireless Setup Wizard”.
Now that the printer has a wireless connection, any computer that uses the printer, will need to have the connection method updated.  The instructions on how to do this can also be found in your User Guide on page 221 in the section titled “Change the connection method”.  There is a sub-section dedicated to Windows operating systems and one dedicated to Mac operating systems.

  • "unable to connect to the data access service" installing report server

Trying to do a 2 server SCOM 2012 R2 install on Server 2012 w/SQL 2012.  Management server and operations console on one, and SQL, web console, and reporting server on the other.  When I get to the web console and reporting server install, and
the "Specify Management Server" screen, I input the 1st management server name and it gives me a red X with the message:
"Unable to connect to the Data Access service for this management server. Ensure the Data Access service is running and that the service, the management group, and setup are all the same version."
Here is the setup log error:
"Info: :Could not connect to Management Server: scom-app with exception: Threw Exception.Type: System.ArgumentException, Exception Error Code: 0x80070057, Exception.Message: Version string portion was too short or
    too long."
I don't see the "Data Access" service in services on either server.  I followed all of the setup prereqs in SCOM 2012 unleashed book, and also referenced this article for setup advice:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/kevinholman/archive/2013/01/16/opsmgr-2012-sp1-quickstart-deployment-guide.aspx
Everything seems to be working until I get to this point.
Thank you for any help you can provide,
    Dan

    Hi Tom,
    1. Did the setup complete successfully on the MS and Console server?
    >>>Yes, without issue
    2. You do not see the service "System Center Data Access Service"
    >>>I do indeed see it on the MS and Console server, it is set to Auto and running.  (I also tried rebooting this server and retried, no help)
    3. Is the Windows Firewall enabled?
    >>>It has symantec endpoint protection.  I disabled symantec completely on both servers and retried, no help.
    Thx,
    Dan

  • I have a ipad mini and it says that it has perect wifi yet when i go into safari it says unable to connect with the server how can i fix this?

I have a ipad mini and i have had it for less then a year, it says that i have perfect wifi up in the left corner where the wifi is always at  but when ever i go into the built in safari it says that it is unable to connect with the server. How can i fix this because with out it connecting to the server or internet it is kind of useless to me. I do have ios7 if that helps

The wifi symbol only indicates the presence/signal strength of wifi. Not that you are connected.

    Hi,
i think this has to do with the "Document Conversions Load Balancer Service".
If you don't need the service than try to stop it:
Start Central Administration > Operations > Services and stop the service.
    or
If you need it the service, try this:
Start Central Administration > Operations > Service Account
Change the service account to "Document Conversions Load Balancer Service" And Select a "Network Services" Click Save
    Hope this helps!
