Unable to connect via wireless, printer is online.

I am using a Photosmart plus 209a via wireless.  There are 3 notebooks connected. 2 will print but my Dell Studio (Win 7 Pro) will not. It was previously connected but now unable to connect.  I have uninstalled all components using level 3 twice. Have used the Print/Scan tool.  Downloaded the full SW package and the Basic driver SW. I process a job and it gets to the spooler and then "print job failed".  I can view the control panel via IP address. I can view network settings and print wireless test page through HP Solution Center.  Why am I unable to connect?  I was able to use via USB but this is not an option.

It sounds like there is something different on the Dell Studio since it works from two other computers on the same network as the Dell Studio.  It also sounds like you are able to access the EWS of the printer by using its IP address.
Are there any other errors messages regarding the printer?  If so, what are they?
Is there a third party firewall installed (e.g. Norton, Kasperksy, BitDefender, etc.)?
Is this Windows 7 Professional 32bit or 64bit?

  • Unable to connect to wireless printer or download firmware update

Got an HP C4580 all-in-one wireless. Can see the device wirelessly using the HP Utility, but cannot print to it "Printer is not connected" or see it using System Preferences. Have downloaded the firmware update, but when running this it hangs at the device discovery stage (even when connected through USB) and therefore I cannot update the firmware on the printer.
The printer will print when connected throught USB.
    Driving me nuts!
    Jim

Thanks for the information. Network is not complex. Cable Broadband connected by ethernet to AirPort with an additional AirPort (Time Capsule) to extend the range of the network through the house.
I did all as you suggested, and this worked fine (once) for twoMacBook Pros, and two iMacs, and now won't work on any of these again (one day later).
Am reluctant to reset the printers again, as my print list includes five printers from work, which requires the IT Dept to reconfigure again if I clear them once more.
HP Utility can apparently connect to the printer and give me device information, I just cannot print to, or scan from the printer.
As advised before, I cannot install the firmware update (it may alreadybe installed - how would I know)? It just hangs when trying to seek the printer type.
The lack of wireless printing is driving me nuts. Before the problem arose with complete loss of service, I went through a period of a few weeks where the printer would not connect after it had printed a job, and had to be switched off, then back on again before working wirelessly. Now nothing.
    Kind regards,
    Jim

  • HP Officejet Pro 8000 Wireless: HP printer unable to connect to wireless router.

Installing new printer,  getting error msg saying HP printer unable to connect to wireless router.   MAC address filtering may be enabled on your wireless router which can prevent HP printer from connecting to your wireless network during setup.
SOLUTION says:  If MAC address filtering is enabled and you would like to keep it enabled, you must add the MAC addressof your printer to the list of permitted devices for your wireless router before continuing.
My router is WD My Net N900 Router. MAC filtering is diabled. My security mode is WPA/WPA2 Personal.
I have run out of ideas to try and fix the issues, would appreciate some help.
    Thanks,

    Hi Jamshidk
I am surprised you are getting that message and you checked the router settings and it is showing that the Mac Filtering is disabled.
I would suggest connecting the printer to the router with a ethernet cable to get a valid IP address and then setup the wireless.
    Print a configuration report.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c01554589&lc=en&product=3760410&tmp...
Type the IP address from the configuration page  in the address bar into internet explorer browser. This will open the embedded web server for the printer. Click on the Networking tab, on the left hand side select wireless. After this is setup and applied, disconnect the ethernet cable.
Should be on the wireless network. Takes about 1 minute.
    Run the add printer wizard.
Go to start, devices and printers and select add a printer. (Win 7)
    Test the printer.

  • HP Device Toolbox software Error Unable to connect to the printer

    Hi guys,
I'm currently in bit of a nightmare with my HP Laserjet 100 color MFP M175nw.
Basically I have upgraded to a new wireless router and since doing this my HP Laser Jet refuses to work / connect to the wireless network.
I have literally tried just about evey thing I can to get it to work, thoroughly through the manual, uninstalled and reinstalled the software about 12 times, tried firewalls on and off, tried security on the router on and off, tried WPS mode, tried manually entering in the IP address into the printer all without luck. You can see my dedicated thread here
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Networking-and-Wireless/HP-LaserJet-Pro-100-color-MFP-M175nw-un...
So currently I have the printer connect to the computer via USB and it works, so I decided to try using the HP Device toolbox software  to see if it would give me any more options to try and when I run this software I get
Error: Unable to connect to the printer, make sure your printer is properly connected and powered on and then try to open the HP device toolbox again. Arg!!!
My new router is a Billion 7800DXL, my old router which worked in wireless mode was also a Billion 7300g.
Any help would be great really stuck here

    Hello tf22raptor.
I see that you're now experiencing an issue getting the Device Tool box to run. I will try and assist with this.
After reviewing this post and the other thread, I have a few things you can try.
    1) Run MS Fix it utility to uninstall the software: Fix problems that programs cannot be installed or uninstalled.
(This is to make sure the software is completely removed and conflicts in the registry get resolved)
2)Msconfig: press windows key and R on the keyboard> in run box type "msconfig"> on window select "services tab"> check box next to "hide all MS services> press disable all> go to "startup" tab> press disable all> press apply and ok at the bottom> this should prompt a PC restart.
    Please restart.
    3) Re-install via USB
    4) Try running the device toolbox now
5)If still having issues installing wireless, you may have to contact the router manufacture.
I hope this helps you out. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums.

Try the Wi-Fi tips listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398?viewlocale=en_US
Forgetting the network or resetting network settings will probably take care of it.
If the iPhone still cannot join the Wi-Fi network give us a little more information about the specific wireless router you are connecting to and the security being used. Also Include the number of characters in the network password.

  • Can't connect to wireless printer

I cannot connect a wireless printer...I have tried 2 printers. HP photosmart 6510 and Epson SX535WD....the wireless strength appears to be good on the printer but the MAC can't see it and neither can the iPhone or the iPad....Sooooo frustrating. Have brought back printers to shop as thought they were faulty...They immediately signed in to their own wifi and printed no prob from iPhone....spoke to my broadband provider. They suggested might be interference from cordless phone, so switched that off....no success, then they said something about changing the WPA to WEP....this is becoming way too complicated for something that I thought was going to be plug in and go....Should I just give up and buy an old fashioned USB type....will I ever be able to print from the iPhone or iPad as well....HELP!!

My mother has been using an iPad. She wanted a printer. The media would think you just buy an AirPrint printer and you're good to go. I bought an HP PhotoSmart 6510. It connects to the wireless signal at my mother's home, but the iPad doesn't recognize that an AirPrint printer is available. Cisco (router) recommended disabling SSID, more or less. I disabled the "SSID broadcast" under guest access (I think I went further with the tech attempts than most other people) using the Cisco software (and rebooted the router, I think), but still no go. The iPad still doesn't recognize the presence of an AirPrint printer. Very frustrating. IF the iPad had a USB port we could go back to the era of cables and print that way, but that's obviously not a solution. Feel mislead. Under the current circumstances most people are going to be frustrated and mislead by the media hype that says, "You can print wirelessly from you iPad, especially if you get an AirPrint computer." Things are going to have to get much simpler for widespread acceptance of that notion. Most of us don't have hours to spend trying to sort out tech issues on our computers. Frustrating!

Hi I have an iPad with iOS 612 and am trying to connect a wireless printer, I don't think it's doing it because I don't have iOS 10 or more. Is this right?.

If you want to use AirPrint - the buit in feature in iOS that allows you to print directly from the iPad without another app - you need to be using an AirPrint Printer. There is a list of those printers here.
    AirPrint basics
If your printer is not on the list, you may still be able to use your current printer, but will need to purchase a printing app for the iPad from the App Store.
I don't understand you reference to iOS 10 unless you mean OS X10 for Mac.

  • HP 3054 J610a unable to connect to wireless network (Mac 0S X 10.7.3)

I recently upgraded to the Mac OS X 10.7.3 on my iMac.  The iMac, along with a few other devices, is on a Verizon Fios wireless network.  I was previously able to set up the printer on the network and print from the iMac, although there were times that the connection dropped.
I downloaded the updated driver and all other updates from both HP and Mac, yet when I use the HP setup assistant, it results in a failed configuration window with the message "The software was unable to configure your device" and "Failed to retrieve network" for IP address, Address Mode, Subnet Mask, etc.
The setup assistant recognizes my wireless network in an earlier screen but it cannot configure the printer to connect.  Also, I connected via USB and can successfully print from the iMac.
    Any suggestions?
