I was doing research to fix this problem and found the answer that worked for some: ctrl+shift+alt then erase preferences. But in this case didnt work.
Adobe Flash Professional 5.5, Adobe media encoder, and Adobe after effects arent working neither.
I found some answers related to how photoshop might not work with some fonts, or without some fonts, but cantt figure out which:

Thanks in advance

You could restore the contents of your fonts folder, then (assuming that gets Photoshop working for you again) you could do the font cleanup more methodically, trying Photoshop to see that it still works.
Are you aware of the "Previous Versions" feature of Windows, with which you could restore the fonts?

  • Photoshop "Unable to continue because of a hardware or system error.

Originally installed adobe photoshop cs. This couldn't be activated and support was contact they advised to uninstall and install adobe photoshop cs2 with a serial  number provided that was provided with the link. CS couldn't be uninstalled due to the following errors 'epmty temp folder' (which was done) 'program may be in use' (it wasn't) 'no internet connectivity' (internet connectivity was active). Support couldn't assist with this. So Cs2 was installed and activated successfully. However as soon as photoshop is started the following error is displayed "Unable to continue because of a hardware or system error. Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable."  I've reset prefences and also removed the nvidia video driver after reading a thread photoshop has known issues with nvidia drivers. Also tried logging in an another user. I am now out of ideas as to what to try to get this to work. Can anyone suggest anything that may get this resolved.
    Thanks

You mention a link.  Did you download the special CS2 installation file, and not use an original CS2 file?
Your system originally had CS on it?  CS is ten years old.  How old is the computer you are using?

How does this system stack up with the minimum requirements for CS2?

Remember these are _minimum_ requirements, which in reality means not even close!

  • Unable to continue: hardware or system error

    Hello,
I tried starting up PE8 today, and received this message:
Unable to continue because of a hardware or system error. Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable.
This only occurs while opening "Edit," but not "Organize."
I'm fairly certain I know what has caused the error - I uninstalled an old trial version of Premiere Elements the other day, just to clear out some space on my computer, and I'm guessing that uninstalled something that shouldn't have been uninstalled, something that was also used by Photoshop Elements.
I have already tried the resetting/deleting the preferences folder.
My version is Photoshop Elements 8.0. My OS is Windows 8, 64 bit. RAM is 8.0 (7.4 usable).
I have a license for two computers, and both licenses are in use.
Is this error really unrecoverable? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Deleting the settings file has been known to resolve this type of issue. How did you go about resetting/deleting the preferences folder?
    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/preference-file-locations-photoshop-elements. html
Was it the Adobe Premiere Elements 8 Prefs.psp file that you deleted?
Or did you go the Ctrl+Alt+Shift hold down as you clicked (held click) on the Editor tab of the Photoshop Elements 8 Welcome Screen?
What antivirus program do you have? McAfee or other? Have you disabled the antivirus program to determine if that had any affect on the
    issue?
If you have not already and nothing else is resolving the issue, consider a deactivation, uninstall, reinstall with a ccleaner run through between the uninstall and the reinstall.

  • Windows 7 Setup with SP1 unable to continue because of missing CD/DVD device drivers

I am trying to do a clean Windows 7 install on my T61p after slipstreaming  SP1 and have two problems:
When I ran the new disc, Wndows 7 setup could not continue because 'CD/DVD device drivers were missing'. I found this odd because when I installed Windows 7 using the original Lenovo Windows 7 Upgrade Media (used to make the SP1 disc) no drivers were missing; and
When I reverted back to the original (non SP1) media windows setup could not install to the selected partition because of an error, which was something like 0x8000031?
    Solved!

    Hi,
That's a not-very-helpful catch-all error message.  It can mean a lot of things, most of which are not a missing CD driver.
It's usually caused by a bad download, a bad burn, or maybe in your case a failure in the slipstreaming process.
    Z.
Thanks. Yes I found so many references but deep among them a microsoft one referring to a bad burn or low quality disc. So I tried the burn but this time with the DVD RW in the Ultra Bay rather than USB which I assumes means it was a lot faster and everything has worked fne. Thanks

Have you trashed the prefs? If not, try that. Other than that we'd at least need some basic info about your system and some info from your system's event viewer regarding the crashes...

The fonts required for Photoshop CS5 are listed at the bottom of this document:
    Troubleshoot fonts | Photoshop CS5
You may want to look at performing a repair install of Windows as well. This doesn't require anything super complicated, it simply checks for missing system files and adds them back in. But you need a Windows installation disk (where the replacement files will come from).

  • Unable to continue because of a hardware or system error...

...Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable.

  • .vi's unable to run because of real-time Startup error

See that attached files for the error. Whenever I try and deploy the code onto the robot the attached error comes up. Is there any fix for this or is this a new error? I have also tried a completely new C-Rio project so that it is the basic settings that FIRST gives us. This same error comes up with that one also so I am thinking it is a computer problem on my end.

It sounds like there is a start up application already on the cRIO that has different versions of these VIs as dependencies. I'd recommend turning on the NO APP setting on your cRIO. Depending on which cRIO you have this will either be a hardware switch on the cRIO or a setting you can change in Measurement and Automation Explorer.

  • Unable to continue ... because of mysterious Scratch Disk problem

Okay, so I've been using Photoshop Elements 2.0 for years without incident.  Today I get a screen saying my scratch disk is almost full.  I don't know what this means (I couldn't find any such folder/file on my computer).  No matter what I put in for Disk 2-4 options I get the following message in the end "Unable to continue because of a hardware or system error. Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable."
Search the Forum but didn't find anything.  Ideas?
    Dave

Scratch disc is the space assigned for Elements to write temporary files to...like history steps, etc. The fastest scratch disc will be an internal drive.
You don't say which OS. If you are on Windows, you might be able to squeeze out some more hard drive space by defragging your hard drive. More RAM helps too although I am not sure to what extent scratch fills in for lack of RAM.
If your hard drive is full, it would be better to move your photos onto an external drive than to assign an external to scratch. It should be relatively pain free to move your photos as you have E2. You don't have to worry about Organizer/catalog issues.
If you go the external hard drive route, you will need to connect your external hardrive to your computer and turn it on your before you launch Elements. If you don't, Elements will not "see"...detect... the external drive when you attempt to navigate to it.
If you aren't already, I would recommend backing up all of your photos and important items by copying them onto DVD discs.
Personally, I move all of my files onto an external hard drive after I gather enough to fill a DVD disc. I copy the files to DVD disc as a backup then move everything that I copied onto my external hard drive. (I also keep all my pack rat items like PDFs, Q-Time Movies, brushes, and other assorted junk on my external hard drives...yeah drives. LOL)
