Unable to convert word file (15000 kb) into pdf.

I am using Microsoft Word 2003 and have a fairly large file (15000 kb) containing numerious graphics with text.  I attempt to convert to pdf with the adobe appplication that attatches to word from installing Acrobat 8.  The process goes until the temp word file is created then stops and freezes everything.  It is necessary to repair Adobe 8 before continueing.  The only way I have been able to convert is to split the Word file in two and convert the halves than combine them after converting.  The problem with this approach the index created in Word will not work for the recombined pdf file so need to create two indexes, one for each half.  Any ideas?

This is an issue of the conversion creating a PS file between the DOC and the PDF file in the temp folder. You have run into the limit of the TEMP folder. You can empty the TEMP folder and see if that resolves the problem or do the compress as recommended. With WORD 2003, go to the format option for a graphic and in the lower left of the menu will be compress. Select compress and compress ALL graphics. You might do this one a copy if you do not want to reduce the resolution in the DOC file.

  • I am unable to convert a file 1.2mb from pdf to word.

I just signed up and trying to convert a 1.2 mB file to word, the program  is not responding, what do I do?

    Hi subscription question,
I've checked your account; it looks like you tried to place two separate orders this morning, but it doesn't appear that either went through. However, it does sound as though you've been able to convert a file successfully. What happens when you log in to your account at https://cloud.acrobat.com/files? Do you see your converted file there? All converted files are automatically stored in your online account, even when you convert from within Reader.

  • Acrobat XI Pro successfully installed, but it failed in converting word files into PDF, why?

I just installed Adobe XI Pro through the download assistant, it looks the installation went well, but when I tried to convert word files into PDF (tried many times), it failed. Anyone has the same problems, any solutions?

Please reply with more information - what your operating system is, do you have Office installed, and what exactly is happening. Is there an error message, does the application crash, and from where are you starting the conversion (using Word and PDFMaker, using Acrobat's Create button, or batch processing).

  • I can't save previous word files I have into iWork's, I have dropped the file into pages, but it says it can't convert text, even though I have changed a selective fond from pages

I can't save previous word files I have into iWork's, I have dropped the file into pages, but it says it can't convert text, even though I have changed a selective fond from pages! Help!

Take us through this in more detail.
What is the Word file? From a PC?
What version of Word and what is the file extension?
What is it about the text that is different?
When you say fond do you mean font/typeface? If so what font, and is it on your Mac? Is there something special/different about this font?

  • I am unable to convert certain files to pdf with Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional

I am unable to convert Word & PowerPoint files to pdf.  (I am able to convert image files & excel)
I have enable macros in Word and still cannot convert the file.
I am getting the error popup:
    Unable to open the document
Please check to see if you have read permission for the above file
    I am running:
Windows XP Professional Ver 2002 SP 3
    Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional
    Microsoft Office 2007

Open the document in WORD or PPT and print to the Adobe PDF printer. With PPT, you will have to select the fill page option. You may also be able to use PDF Maker in WORD or PPT. From your post I am assuming you are trying to open directly in Acrobat and all of these other things have to be working properly before the latter will work. If they work and you still can not open directly in Acrobat, then try a repair on Acrobat.

reader x will not let me convert word files to pdf's, even word files that have been converted before. unable to get support through adobe...

The free Reader has never been able to do much more than reading (opening) PDF files. It has never had the capacity to convert any kind of file to any other format.  If you could do it before, you must have been using another Adobe program/service.

How do I batch convert Word files to pdf using Automator

Here is a drag/drop AppleScript solution that uses the command-line LibreOffice capability to convert MS Word (.doc, .docx) files into PDF. Drag/Drop a single file, or a folder of Word documents, and it will write the respective PDF back to the original file location. When it is done, an OS X Notification will slide out onto the Desktop and provide the count of processed files.
Save this AppleScript as a Desktop application that remains open after running. If you ignore the latter, the notification will not show when it is done. Tested on Mavericks 10.9.5.

  • Unable to convert postscript file...

I can't print a PDF file in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro for Mac (OS X 10.9.1). The file sent to print remains stuck in the queue saying "Printing - Unable to convert Postscript file".  My printer is HP OfficeJet 8600 Plus. It seems to be a problem related to Acrobat for Mac only, as I can print the same file with the same printer from Adobe Acrobat XI Pro for Windows. All software and drivers involved are updated.  Printing As an Image does the trick, but I am looking for a direct solution if there is one.
Any suggestion will be highly appreciated.

Trying to print from Quicken running in Win 7 under Parallels.  Seems to function correctly through WIN, but in Mac print queue, generates the error "Unable to Convert Postscript File"  What gives?
I think Quicken is using their own print library that may be adding artifacts to the postscript code that the Mac printer drivers cannot digest. Or, are you using a printer with postscript level 2 emulation and Quicken is sending postscript level 3 love?
Current on Parallels and Quicken software updates? Mountain Lion printer drivers for your device?
What about printing directly to postscript into a shared Mac folder, then opening that file with either Preview (will convert to PDF) or Adobe Reader 10.1.4 on Mountain Lion. You might need latest Ghostscript, Redmon, and CutePDF Writer -- all free on the Win 7 side to direct output to a virtual postscript or PDF printer from within Quicken.
I looked at the Intuit forums and their are dozens of pages reflecting printer issues with Quicken. This appears to be the application from ****.
Hope you aren't on the billable clock with these issues.

Hi Haixia, frank7882 and going mad,
Welcome! Would the three of you mind giving me the specifics of the issues you are experiencing?
What type of PDF's are you converting to word? Are you receiving a specific error message? Have you tried rebooting your computers and logging into ExportPDF again?
    I'd really like to assist!

  • Not able to convert word file to PDF using Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard

    Hi,
I am not able to convert word file to PDF using Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard. When I try to convert, it starts the process and in between I am getting this prompt, as shown in figure below and the conversion process stops. The PDF is not created.
Note: The filename 'Acr85.doc' in the above prompt keeps changing and is random.
I tried clicking Yes, No and Cancel on the above prompt, but the conversion process just stops and PDF is not getting generated.
I am able to create PDFs from web pages. No issues with that. Not working only with Word.
Can someone help me with this.
    Thanks,

  • Converting OBIEE Answers / Interactive Dashboards into .pdf or .xls files

    Hi all;
I’m a freshie here as well as in Business Intelligence industry. Right now, without prior knowledge about this tool, I’m working in OBIEE answer.
Is it possible for us to convert OBIEE answer report/dashboard into .pdf or .xls files? Other tools like Cognos and Business Object have their own utilities to convert the tool’s reports into those formats. I believe OBIEE also have that essential, but untill now, i couldn’t find it.

You can download Reports on Dashboard to PDF and HTML from:
Click Printer Friendly icon placed at bottom left corner and PDF or HTML.
You can download individual reports on Dashboard:
Page Options ==> Edit ==> Report Properties ==> Report Links. Check the options you want to see below the report.

    Easiest way....
open up the document in Word, click on "Save as" and select "Web Page".
There are 3rd party APIs to read Word docs... but I don't know if they then allow you to export to HTML.
You may have to write that yourself.

  • How would one convert Word files containing audio to a PC?

I'm not sure if it's possible, but how could I convert Word files that contain audio from a Mac laptop to a PC laptop? I really would appreciate any help, as I truly need these files for academic reasons. Thank you

    Hi, theocularone -
    Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
This particular forum is set aside for users of OS 9. Since you are using a MacBook Pro, you can not be using OS 9 (OS 9 is not usable with any Intel-processor Mac).
You would probably get a faster, more directed response if you reposted your question in the appropriate OSX forum. Depending upon which version of OSX you are using, you can access those here -

  • How To Print After Error Msg: Unable to convert postscript file

We installed "Maverick" on our MacBook Pro and our printer is a HP 8600.  We were unsuccessful in getting our Adobe Acrobat Professional 8 to print our PDF files.  Instead, we got the error msg: Printing Stopped: unable to convert postscript file.  We have used this application for years without any problems.  How do we solve this problem so that our application WILL "convert postscript file" or do we have to spend several hundred dollars to upgrade?

I think we solved the problem.  Instead of looking for the solution via Adobe, we went to our printer info online, which was the HP OfficeJet 8600.  We found special printer drivers for our newly installed Maverick operating system for our MacBook Pro.  After downloading and installing the new drivers per the directions, we tested printing a pdf document and it was printed without any problem.
