Unable to convert XLS to PDF

existing repair function does not fix problem
program will not convert Excel file to .pdf

How are you trying to create the PDF? What versions Acrobat, Excel, and Windows are you working with. With out that information it is almost impossible to help you. Not being able to convert conveys no information. There are 3 or more methods to do the conversion, one being the most fundamental and works in almost all cases (print to the Adobe PDF printer). The other methods get involved in compatibility and enabling of macros, so the methods and versions of software are important for an answer.

  • Converting .xls to pdf

Can anyone recommend a good application or the best way to convert .xls files to pdf?
    Thanks

Have you tried printing and selecting "Save as PDF"? Or Save As and selecting PDF? I don't have Excel 2004 anymore so I don't know if it has the Save as PDF feature but the standard OS X print dialog has the selection for printing to PDF.

  • Unable to convert docx into pdf

I have a end-user that has Acrobat Standard 8. She was trying to open a docx file in Acrobat to convert it to pdf. Whenever she did this, the program gave an error message stating that it was missing files and that a repair install needed to be done. I tried converted other documents and it gave the same error. I did a repair install, a clean install, and tried updating the program several times. I've read that version 8.0 had issues with docx files, but that 8.1 fixed the problem. Has anyone else had a similar issue and is there a way to fix it?

Suddenly (this week) my AA 8 PDF Maker was not working with MS Office 2007. AA 8 would convert any file that was not Office related to PDF format, so I concluded the problem was Office related. I finally came upon what fixed my problem, I hadn't 'personalized' the MS Word program. You do that by clicking on the drop down menu (upper left corner)> then click on 'Word Options' and type in your name under 'personalize your copy of MS Office'. Works like a charm now! BTW I also uninstalled the PDF converter that MS offered as an add on. I don't know if that conflicts with AA 8 or not.

  • Problem converting XLS to PDF in SharePoint

When I try to convert an Excel 2003 spreadsheet that is housed in a MOSS 2007 document library to PDF using Acrobat 8, I get the following error message: "the filename that you're trying to convert has characters outside the system language. Please rename the source file and run PDFMaker again." I am unable to complete the conversion. I am an administrator for our MOSS teamsite, but I am not a server administrator. Any suggestions?

In Indesign if you want to generate a PDF you "export". You have two options: Print or Interactive. If you use Interactive it will include hyperlinks by default. If you choose Print you need to check it:

  • Unable to convert files to pdf in network drives

    Hi Team
Iam using adobe acrobat pro 11 in windows7 64 bit OS.When ever iam trying to convert files from text or word to .pdf iam getting the errro message in devices and printers.
one thing i observed that when i choose local drive eg:c:drive iam there is no problem.but when i given network drives path then its getting error.i have full permissions on network drive and also i can able to save any files, able create files, folders in network drives, So there is no permission issues.
Could you please provide the solution to fix it.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Siva

I don't know the solution, but at one point folks were discussing the issue of the TMP folder used for the PDF creation. It may be that there is something causing a problem with the mix of the TMP folder and the network folder. Be aware, I have no clue what I am talking about, but am repeating things I remember reading at one point. That might help you in your trouble shooting. There are others here that understand networks and will hopefully drop by to help.

You don't need Acrobat for this at all.
If you select "Print..." there is a "PDF..." button in the lower left corner of the dialog. Click the button and select "Save as PDF..." or you can do "Open in Preview..." and save from there.
OS X has had the ability to generate PDFs since the 10.0 days. The whole graphics infrastructure is based on PDFs. You have no need whatsoever for Acrobat on the machine to do this.

  • Unable to convert .doc to PDF after Leo install

What am I missing? I recently installed Leopard on four machines, two at home and two at school. In all cases I am not able to write a PDF from a Word doc, something that I have to do from time to time. There is a message that says my PDF printer is not present... I've tried to get my home machine to recognize the PDF printer in my printer window and I get the 52 week beachball. I have tried to find this topic on several sites but I couldn't be the only one experiencing this bump in the road...on all four computers...Word version is from Office 2004, four computers are a G5 tower, Macbook, two Intel MacMinis... It is probably too simple, but I can't see it...

  • Convert .docx to .pdf

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.3.4 and it's unable to convert .docx to .pdf.  Does anyone know of an update that can be downloaded to correct this problem?  I'm creating a large document and the file size is considerably larger in .doc, creating a larger .pdf which I'm unable to email through my work intranet system (due to size of file).  Compressing the file in .pdf (after converting from .doc) isn't sufficient.
    Would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Problem has to do with how Office handles Jpg images espcially if transfered from a PC to a Mac, but also if just save a jpeg.  The only thing affected is jpeg images.
PNG images do not bloat or reduce when going from PC to Mac or Mac to PC. Any image tif, gif, png will work there only is the problem with jpg.
I'd recommend to go back to your images and convert to PNG  then re-insert them. Then try creating your PDF.
Also If you must use jpg  if it needs to be emailed then no more 150 dpi Max.

After I do this, the "Convert To" box goes "gray" and I am unable to convert the document I have selected.  It was working great for the first week that I used it, but now it doesn't give me the converting option.  I am very frustrated as I have done nothing to change anything, and I was thinking this was so great...now I am just pulling out my hair and do not have the option of calling anyone since no phone numbers are listed. I am VERY busy and do not have time to sit and wait over a half an hour to "chat", which I tried to do yesterday.  All I want to do is very simply, convert pdfs to Word.  I have paid for this and am not getting any help. I am not very savvy when it comes to Adobe this program and Adobe that program...I feel I am being scammed as I do not get simple answers for something that appeared was going to be simple. You can't even call customer service to talk to someone live to help walk you through.

    Hello Kathie,
Sorry for the inconvenience that has caused to you.
Please let me know if you have tried converting any other PDF to word with Reader.
Alos, please sign up at "https://cloud.acrobat.com/" using your Adobe ID credentials. Click on 'ExportPDF' tab and upload the PDF that you want to convert to Word.
Let me know if this converts fine.
    Hope to hear from you.

Unable to convert Microsoft Word doc to PDF in Words (Does not respond) or Create PDF from a Word doc. in Adobe Acrobat X Standard 10.1.1 with all updates installed. I receive apop-up saying "Missing PDF Maker Files: Dou you want to run the installer in Repair Mode"  I have done this several times. I have un-installrd and re installed the program twice. Still does not work. I'm running Windows 7 Home version and Microsoft Office XP 2002. This is a brabd new Acrobat program right out of the box. Suggestions Please.

In WORD 2002, I believe you can only print to the Adobe PDF printer. I think that WORD 2003 is the first compatible with AA X. Check out http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/333/333504.html.

  • Installed Adobe Pro X now unable to convert PDF - Missing PDFMaker Files

    Hello,
I installed the trial version of Adobe Pro X and now I am unable to convert a Microsoft Word.doc file to .pdf.  The error message is 'Missing PDFMaker Files.  Do you want to run the installer to repair mode?'  I ran the installer, twice, with the same resulting error message.  (Am currently using Windows XP Pro along with Microsoft 2003 - and will upgrade in the new year.)  I searched this issue, and found the following:
To manage your Disabled Items list in a Microsoft Office application:
Open the Microsoft Office application (Word, Excel, Publisher).
Choose Help > About [the application name].
    Click Disabled Items.
Select Adobe PDF from the list, and then click Enable.
Quit the Microsoft Office application, and then restart it.
However, there are no applications in the list, including Adobe.
    I also tried this:
If the error message continues to appear after you enable Adobe PDF, check the security level for macros in Microsoft Word:
Choose Tools > Macro > Security.
In the Security dialog, click the Security tab.
    Choose Medium or High.
    Do one of the following:
If you chose Medium, then click OK.
If you chose High, then continue with steps 5 through 7.
    Click the Trusted Publishers tab.
Check Trust all installed add-ins and templates.
    Click OK.
And Adobe is already there, so no change here.
I have uninstalled the trial version, deleted what visible remnants I could find, restarted the computer, installed the trial version again and am getting the same error message.
Is there a solution to this problem?  Or, should I just return to my Adobe Pro 7?
    Thank you in advance!
    Laura

I recently bought and installed Adobe Acrobat X Pro thinking that X Pro was compatable with Windows XP. I am unable to convert any Microsoft Office 2003 file into a PDF. I receive the same error message as above ( "Missing PDFMaker Files") and tried running it in repair mode as suggested. No change.

    Click Disabled Items.
Select Adobe PDF from the list, and then click Enable.

    But there is no change.
    Please help!!!
