Unable to copy photo's

Hi I can't seem to be able to install my iPhone correctly. I can sync with iTunes fine but can't copy photo's and videos across.
In my device manager it says iPhone under imaging devices but with an exclamation mark. I have tried to update driver but once it starts to install digital imaging device it says can't install data is invalid.
This may have been discussed elsewhere but I can't find the thread.
If anyone can help or at least point me in the right direction please.
Ally

You have to use Itunes to get photos onto your Iphone. As an imaging device it is one way traffic - photos off the Iphone onto the PC.
When the phone is connected to Itunes point to the phone's name in the left hand panel and click. On the screen that appears click on photos and select the folders you want to sync onto your phone.

  • Unable to copy photos over

    Hi everyone.
I am using iPhoto 08 on an iMac. I made an album in iPhoto of photos that I want to export to a USB stick so that I can then plug that USB stick into a digital frame.
I can successfully export the files to a folder on my desktop but then am unable to copy the photos over to my USB stick. There are 517 photos total and whenever I try about 77 photos appear to go through okay and then I start getting errors like "photo xxxx cannot be copied over because there is not enough space". This isn't true because the USB stick is 2 GB and all 517 photos total are around 500 MB. I have even tried on a different USB stick so I know it's not the USB stick that is at fault.
The same happens if I copy over the photos one by one. And the same thing happens if I export the photos directly from iPhoto to the USB stick. It keeps crapping out.
Any recommendations out there? Kind of stuck with this one…
    Thanks,
    Keith

    Larry,
Thank you for the response! That did not solve the problem, unfortunately. It did, however, lead me down the path of formatting the stick in Disk Utility, which did solve the problem (MS-DOS FAT). I formatted the stick in that manner because I needed a Philips digital frame to be able to read the stick, and only FAT is supported.
    Thanks for your help Larry,
    Keith

  • File sharing - unable to copy photo folder

    Hi!
I'm using File Sharing to connect my iMac to my mother's iMac.
I'm trying to copy a folder called "Mom Photos" (sub-folder of the main Pictures folder) to my computer. I created a user name and password on her iMac that I use to login from my iMac. Once logged in, when I click on the "Mom Photos" folder and try to copy and paste it on my computer, I see the following error message: "The items on the Clipboard can't be pasted to this location. One or more of the items may have been deleted or are no longer available."
When I created my user name on her iMac, I set the privileges to "Read and Write."
If I open the "Mom Photos" folder and select all the individual sub-folders within, copy and paste them to a folder on my iMac, I see the following message: "One or more items can't be copied to "Pictures" because you don't have permission to read them, Do you want to copy the items you are allowed to read?"
    Thank you for any help!

Not being able to copy the folder itself would suggest that it has some other file, probably hidden, that is stopping the procedure. You could go up one level and perform the same action, but if this next level up is the Pictures folder then it might be best not to do this as the iPhoto library is also included within the Pictures folder.
One possible workaround would be to create yet another folder within the Pictures folder and then copy the "Mom Photos" folder inside this. Then when you do the Apply to Enclosed Items for this new folder, the "Mom's Photos" folder should now be available to copy.
If this still doesn't help then there is a Terminal command called change mode (chmod) that can be used to change the permissions on this folder. This would require to be on your mums iMac and to use her account, as you will need to authenticate to complete the task. It would be best if you can complete the operation without using Terminal but if using the GUI doesn't succeed then Terminal may be your next best option.

Have a look at your import setting specifically Store Files:
Make sure it is set to where you want the originals to go.

  • Unable to copy and paste a phote from my photo library to another photo album

iphoto 6.0.6 unable to copy and paste a photo from my main library album to another photo album.  why does the copy and paste function not work for these albums.  I have tried to drag it and drop it into the album, but nothing works.  it this a bug?  When I created the album several years ago, I was able to copy and paste photos into it, but now when I try to copy and paste nothing happens.  Again I ask, is this a bug?

unable to import or copy photos from a time machine back up saved from snow leopard into iPhoto now running on lion

The correct method of restoring photos from Time Machine is to restore the entire library.
The way that TM backs up files makes nearly impossible to go into the backup via the Finder and recover individual files. So you will have to restore a library that contains the photos you need being sure to select the option to keep both versions.
Then open the restored library and export those photos you need.  Open your original library and import those photos.  After that you can delete the recently restored library.

  • Unable to delete photos from my ipad2 .

I am unable to delete photos from my ipad2. I am able to select the photos to delete but when I press the red delete button nothing happens. Is anyone else having this experience? Is there a known problem. Is there a solution?

You don't say what type of photos - were they taken with the iPad or synced from your computer ?
Only photos taken with the iPad, copied onto it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/wesites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad - either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view. Photos that were synced from your computer are deleted by removing them from where they were synced from and then re-syncing (if you were able to delete them directly on the iPad, then the next time you synced photos they would be put back onto the iPad, unless you remembered to also remove them from your computer).

  • I have suddenly become unable to access photo library  iPhoto (vers 9.5) on my external drive.  And time Machine will no longer back up to the same external (LaCie) drive.  Appreciate all suggestions.  The drive does show up on my desktop....

I have suddenly become unable to access photo library (iPhoto vers 9.5) on my external hard drive.  Also time machine isnt backing up to same external hard drive (LaCie).  The drive does show up on the desk top, but when i open iPhoto the library isnt listed, so I cant option click.

First, one should not try to run an iPhoto library from the same volume/drive that is being used by Time Machine for backups.  TM will continue to fill up the drive thus squeezing out iPhoto from being able to be opened and used. Also that doesn't allow you to let TM backup your library as it does with other files on your boot drive.
If you partition the EHD into two separate partitions you can run the library from it but that won't let TM backup the library which is important.
Are you able to see the library on the EHD via the Finder?  If so copy it back to your boot drive and open it there.  You may have to do some fixing on it.
Solution is to either run the library from the boot drive or get a second EHD to run the library from and let TM back it up along with your boot drive.

  • HT1386 I am unable to synch photo albums from ipad 3 to itunes on my windows pc. In addition to camera roll and ipod cache albums, i have 6 other albums made from pix derived from the camera roll. I have trawled the net for the last 8 hrs in vain!

    Dear Community members,
I am unable to synch photo albums from iPad 3 to iTunes on my Windows 7 pc.
In addition to Camera roll and iPod cache default albums, I have 6 other albums made from pix derived from the camera roll. Eg -  Family pix in a folder, Office pix in another, Plant pixs in another, House architecture pix in another.......all also exist in the camera roll.
I have trawled the net for the last 8 hrs in vain!
I have ios5 on Ipad 3 and the latest Itunes on Windows PC.
As a precaution, I have used the windows "add pictures from...." to keep a copy in a separate folder in the windows desktop, but again it has all the pics mixed up together and not sorted as per the various albums in the ipad!
How to replicate the albums in the windows PC???
    Regards
    Sohal NS

Sync the photos back to the iPad using iTunes. You have to place the photos into a folder from which you sync photos. All photos that you want to sync to the device must be included in the main photos folder and selected to sync each time that you sync.
Connect the iPad to the PC and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Photos Tab on the right.
Click on the Sync Photos From heading in order to select it.
Select the photos folder that you want to sync from.
Select all of the albums or photos within the folder that you want to sync.
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes

  • How to copy photos or videos from album in iPad to Window7 based PC?

I have created Album on iPad however, I am unable to copy the photos / videos there in to my windows 7 based PC.
    1. All standard help copes photos or videos only from Camera roll.
    2. From iTunes, I do not see any option to sync from iPad to my pc, but it is always from PC to iPad.
    Any help please?

You cannot copy those albums and photos to your PC. Those albums do not contain copies of your photos, but merely pointers to the photos that are in the camera roll. Since they don't really exist in the photos app albums, there is no way to copy them to the PC.

  • Unable to email photos and .pdfs

    help!
I am unable to email photos from iPhoto, .pdfs, and photos others forward to me from Mail.
I have tried repairing permissions, moving the mail out to the hard drive and reopening, cursing, and other ineffectual things.
The photos and documents will email successfully from other computers using Mail .
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi Nancy
so you set up a new user in system prefs- accounts? - not just a new mail account, right?
well hopefully the problem lies within your mail preferences file - do the following ( carefully!) to force mail to rebuild it, yet retain your messages. Your display settings will need setting again, but messages & rules should remain. You'll backup your mail first, so if anything goes wrong, you can get right back to where you are now.
If you have more than one or two mail accounts ( the account details will all need entering again) - you might look for an alternative fix before doing this.
Make sure you have a note of your mail account(s) details - incoming/outgoing servers, password, username etc . ( I guess you're ok with this, having set up a new user?).
    Quit Mail
    In Finder, navigate to home/library
locate the 'Mail' folder & alt-drag a copy to the desktop ( a green + sign should show that you're making a copy; not moving the original.
locate the file 'com.apple.mail.plist' in home/library/preferences. Drag this file to the desktop ( no alt this time - you want to move the original).
Open mail - you'll be asked for your account details - enter them exactly as they were before.
set up extra accounts when prompted ( if you had more than one)
You should find all your mail & mailboxes are there - open a few emails just to be certain.
Before changing any mail display/layout settings - test mail to see if your problem is fixed now.
If it's working fine - you've finished & the .plist file you moved to the desktop can be trashed.
I would advise keeping the copy of the Mail folder somewhere safe, & making a new copy as often as you like - preferably on another drive or CD/DVD disk. Then if Mail or your HD go nutso - it's possible to get all your mail back.
Let me know if this works - either way I'll make another post so you know how to restore your mail folder & settings if it didn't work, or if one day you need to use the backup to recover your mail & settings.

  • Unable to transfer photos to burn a CD

    Hello.
I have an I Book G4. I have uploaded some photos very valuable to me, of my trip to Ireland. They appear as a roll in Iphoto.
I have tried to export the photos so that I can copy them onto a CD to save them.
    I get a message; unable to create/users/campd/desktop.
Then, I am unable to transfer the photos.
I am moving over to a new Mac, and would like to take these photos with me on a CD. In the past I have been able to export and copy photos.
    ibook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Duane:
Have you tried dragging those photos from the iPhoto window onto the desktop?
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • Copy photos from pc to ipad2

Seeking best way to move photo's from win 7 to ipad 2 - using itunes but it builds a temp file and was unable to remove photo's from temp files...?? will check with phone support...just wanted to verify with on line support ,

Not entirely sure what you mean by 'temp files' - do you mean the photo cache ?
There are instructions on this page for syncing photos from your computer to your iPad.
If you are having problems syncing them then you could try deleting the photo cache from your computer and then re-try the photo sync and see if they then copy over - the location of the cache, and how to delete it, is on this page.

Are you using Yosemite and not apple's Mail app? Then you may need to set up an app-specific password: See the post below:
Re: I am using iPhoto version 9.6 and I can no longer get an email sent with a photo attached. I get an error message saying the email did not go through because the server did not reply. I can send the photo with Mail. Help!in response to Gary Kissler
This solution is for those of you using 2-step verification for your Apple ID and are using iCloud as the mail server that you are trying to mail photos with.
I too had this issue. The problem in my case occurred because I had setup 2-step authentication for my Apple ID. If you have done this then you will get the error message "the mail server did not recognize your email/password...". To solve the problem go to:
    https://appleid.apple.com
    Click "Manage Your Apple ID"
Verify your identity with the device you selected (if this step does not show up then you have not likely set up 2-step authentication and this is not your solution)
Click Password and Security in the left column
    Click Generate an app-specific password
Enter iPhoto as the name of the app
Copy the password and paste this into the password box in iPhoto where you would normally enter your apple ID (in the mail account section in iPhoto preferences).
    And...voila' (I hope)
