Unable to create a new planning application in EPM11.1.3.1
Hello Guru's
I am not able to create a new planning application in the existing environment.
In the last week i created a new application to migrate from prod to dev and it was successfull but it was failing to now for creating new app.
When i checked the database connection and the essbase connection both are fine.
I have checked the logs in the path
D:\Hyperion\deployments\WebLogic9\servers\HyperionPlanning\logs
Environment: 11.1.3.1
error:
<Jan 24, 2012 5:15:46 AM EST> <Error> <JMS> <som-epmdevapp02> <HyperionPlanning> <[ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '0' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'> <<WLS Kernel>> <> <> <1327400146994> <BEA-040373> <Could not find a license for JMS. Please contact BEA to get a license.>
Cheers,

check the logs clearly, i think schema/user doesn't have admin rights. please check with DBA team and try creating again.
If you have DB admin access, you can create new schema/user and provide Full admin privilizes to the user (even you can ask your DBA team), then create DSN & validate, then try creating new application (make sure you are giving all correct info while creating app), it should work.....if still giving any error, please let us know what's the error in front end & at the same time check the logs.....
with time stamp you tried to create application, logs will be there, check clearly you will definitly find the cause & issue.

Created a new planning application with Admin id ..while loggin in giving error as :.....
Unable to obtain a connection to Hyperion Essbase. If this problem persists, please contact your administrator
Steps i followed :
1. created schema
2.created DSN on application servr
3.Created planning Applicaion from AppWizard plannig link
4.Application was succesfully created.
5.tried login into the plannig aplication got the boce error.
6.the application i not seen when i login with Admin id through EAS console ....
7.Applicaction is not created in essbase server also...i see in essbase server back endCheck out in shared services if the user is still provisioned with appropriate access, if not do it.
Try running updateusers utility because user dosent exists as NTLM and try creating the application again from Essbase and from Planning.
If it doesnt work then Create a new user with administrator access and In EAS refresh the security from shared services and try creating the essbase and planning applications using new admin. Check if it works.

Unable to create Database for new planning Application
Hi all,
I have Created a New planning application on Planning 11.1.1.3 using workspace.
When i'm trying to create a database through administration -> Manage Database , im getting error saying
com.hyperion.planning.planning.HspCubeRefreshInProgressException: Cannot complete your request because the database is being refreshed.
I tried Unlocking the application, using HspUnlockApp.cmd and it is returning a error, and im also unable find the HSP_LOCK Table
Please let me know ur suggestions
Thanks in Advance
Edited by: Rao on Aug 8, 2010 8:57 PMHi,
There is definitely a table called HSP_LOCK in the planning applications repository, are you sure you are looking in the correct place.
Anyway there is also a utility (HspUnlockApp) in the \planning\bin directory that should unlock the app and will save you having to mess around with any tables, more details :- http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/hp_admin/ch04s02.html

We are currently on Hyperion Planning 9.2. I have created a new Planning application in my test environment. I can see the application in the Planning Desktip. I have ran the Configuration Utility on the Shared Services server and updated my Hspjshome.properties file. We have restarted the Planning server and the Planning services. However, the Hspjshome.properties file on the Planning server has not been updated. I can see the new application in the Administration console but not in Shared Services or in the Planning Web. If I register it in the console, it tells me it is already registered. What am I missing? Do I need to run the Configuration Utility on the Planning server as well. Also, do I need to restart the Shared Services server.
Thanks in advance for your help.Have you copied your updated Hspjshome.properties into the web application, sometimes it just updates the file but doesn't copy into the web application, once copied you will need to restart the planning application service.
Cheers

Unable to Access New Planning Application via Workspace
Hi all
i have installed a new Planning server into the existing platform (there is no hardware load balancing so is seen as a single instance of planning) however i am using the existing workspace and HSS.
I have successfully installed and configured the new Essbase and Planning Products and registered against shared services. The issue i have is that i cannot get the new Planning application to be viewable via workspace. I get Application is invalid.!!.
The original (Existing) Planning on server 1 is set to 'Active Instance' in the product registration and these apps can be viewed by workspace etc.
I have created Planning on Server 2 and have created a new instance, but not set the 'Active instance' in the product registration!!!, i have also registered this as the web host tier on the Server 2 not the Server1.
If i use the direct planning URL's for either Planning Server 1 or Planning Server 2 i see the planning applications that are on each server!!
Can anyone tell me what configuration i have missed out! If it helps the Planning Server 1 has its own Shared Services Project and Planning Server 2 has its own Shared Services project.
I have restarted services on Server2 BUT not Server 1 as i am not allowed an outage until the end of the month!!.Hi,
Did you create a new Planning app in your new environment? Can you access this new app as a test?
You will need to asociated your app with an active instance and datasource.
In the workspace, when you go to Navigate - Applications - Planning, do you see your Planning app or is it not there at all?
Did you check the logs for any errors? Are you sure the user you are logging on to the Workspace as has been provisioned for that planning app?
When you configured BI+ did you make sure you ticked Planning?

Unable to create a new folder in Applications
Hi,
For some reason I am suddenly unable to create folders in my Applications folder. Also, if I try to put anything into the Applications folder I am prompted to authorise. I don't know much about permissions in Unix but I have seen on some other threads that the following is required if I need some help:
drwx---r-x+ 207 root wheel 7038 May 13 09:08 /Applications
0: group:everyone deny addfile,delete,add_subdirectory,deletechild,writeattr,writeextattr,chown
1: group:everyone deny delete
2: user:(me) allow list,addfile,search,add_subdirectory,deletechild,readattr,writeattr,readextattr,writeextattr,readsecurity
3: group:admin allow list,addfile,search,add_subdirectory,deletechild,readattr,writeattr,readextattr,writeextattr,readsecurity
Can anybody help?
Regards,
StuartHi Stuart
If you haven't updated yet, I suggest you install 10.5.2.
If and only if the output of ls -le looks still the same as in your first post (please check that before doing anything!) you could try the following:
Open a Terminal window and paste the following commands seperately (first line, Enter, second line, Enter and so on). The first command will ask you for a password.
sudo chmod -a# 3 /Applications/
sudo chmod -a# 2 /Applications/
sudo chmod -a# 0 /Applications/
sudo chmod 755 /Applications/
sudo chown root:admin /Applications/
This will change the permissions on your machine to the same permission set as I have on /Applications/.
PLEASE NOTE:
I don't know what you have installed in your Applications folder. This could adversely affect other applications on your system. In other words: There's no guarantee from my side. If you want assistance before doing this, I invite you to contact me via email in my profile. We could have an iChat or a Skype session in 7 hours.

FR reports not working for new planning application
Situation:
Hyperion 9.2.0
New planning application created and also registered to share services. One existing group have role assigned as 'Interactive User' and not able to perform operations on workspace (FR), FR Studio and Smart view. (Note: Admin can perform such activities and there is no error.)
Key user receiving mention below messages while accessing FR report from workspace and using FR studio for particular report related to only new application. The existing FR reports on different planning application working fine working fine from workspace and FR studio. Here are the errors:
*Workspace Error [Only for new application report]*
[Wed Aug 24 15:04:35 2011]Local////Error(1051440) Analytical Services user [abcd] Authentication Fails against the Shared Services Server with Error [Failed to authenticate user abcd against provider Native Directory]
*FR Studio [Only for new application report]*
Error connecting to database connection XYZ: [Wed Aug 24 15:08:50 2011]<Server Name///abcd/Error(1051025) User abcd is not permitted to access application XYZ
Smart View Error (Only for new application connection)
Cannot open cube view. OLAP Error (1051025): User abcd is not permitted to access application XYZ.
Analysis
While looking Essbase, I identified that under security (User/Groups), group that have access as interactive user is not listed. Only I can see the groups that have admin roles. However I can see all other planning application successfully displayed groups associated to particular question.
Please help to resolve the issue. I am new to this concept, so the detailed level description will help me lot

Thanks For the replies.
After the data is copied into the layout. User is changing the values of few key figures and saving. A new line item is created in the cube with the new values.
Ex
Cust ....qty.....Value....Revenue
c100....10........100.....1000
Changing the value in layout
Cust ....qty.....Value....Revenue
c100....10........150.....1000
After saving in the cube
Cust ....qty.....Value....Revenue
c100....10........100.....1000
c100....0........50..........0
When the user execute the report revenue is not populating correctly. And i was expecing 150 *10 = 1500. I understood the issue. Can anyone tell me how can i achieve without updating the quantity how can i get this?
Thanks

New planning application -bit urgent
Hi experts,
i have installed and configured planning 11.1.2. now , i am trying to create new planning application from workspace but i don't see command related to create new application under adminstration command.
Can you please let me what went wrong...advance thanks.
Thanks,
GaneshIt maybe the account does not have the correct permissions.
Maybe the web server has not been configured last.
If you are really struggling and need to set up an application quickly you can go direct to planning

or
Reconfigure workspace(Web Server only not data base) it will come workspace also -
Create a new web application, how shall I update the file server.xml
Hi,
I will create a new web application, i.e named newApp. Then I create a file structure as follows:
- <server-root>/newApp
- <server-root>/newApp/WEB-INF
- <server-root>/newApp/WEB-INF/classes
Then I must tell the server that I have created a new web application. Then I must update my file server.xml, How shall I do this and where in the file shall I type in the new information?
I use windows XP Pro, and Tomcat 4.1.27.
My server.xml file looks like below:

with a password value of "changeit" for both the certificate and
the keystore itself.

performance, so you can disable it by setting the
"enableLookups" attribute to "false". When DNS lookups are disabled,

IP address of the remote client.

I am unable to create a new folder on either of my auxillary disk drives. I can access the files and folders that were there when I transferred one of the drives from a PC. Time machine uses one for backup and I want to use the other to store photos which are large files. An help would be appreciated.
Thanks for the reply. If I reformat the drive will I be able to access the files on it from the MAC. I do not share the drive with a PC. The files were originally created on a PC which I no longer use. I do want to continue to access the files put there by the PC. I would like to not have to copy them over to the MAC hard drive just to use them. The second aux drive is new and works fine because it was formatted by the MAC. I can drag and drop files there and work with just as if they were on the internal drive.
