Unable to create alias

I've noticed that with several apps the cmd-L command to make an alias does not work. Likewise with these same apps the make alias command in the finder's file menu is grayed out and unavailable.
Can anyone give me an explanation of this and what I might do to remedy it

1. The Command-L keyboard shortcut to create an alias is a Finder shortcut. Likewise, the Make Alias contextual menu choice only operates in Finder.1.1. What are the "other apps" in which you are attempting this?
1.2. Is it related to specific file types?
1.3. What changes did you make to your Mac before this problem arose?2. An errant Startup or Login Item may be the cause. My "Troubleshooting Startup and Login Items" FAQ can help you pin that down if such an item is causing the problem.

I have one product table.
i am trying to create Alias on Product table. In physical layer i was right clicked on Product table. It shows all options( like New object, Update row count, view data.......etc)

No. you should be able to create alias table. please verify if you are trying to create alias on topn of existing alis table that you cant. otherwise restart services and try again.

HT4897 unable to create alias

Anyone having success at creating an alias under their icloud account?
First the message was that the site was unable to save the alias.
Now the message is that I have to wait 7 days due to canceling a
previous alias (not valid as I did not cancel a previous alias recently.

There have been numerous complaints about this issue, and I've not seen any sort of explanation for it. I imagine it's not happening globalloy and continuously, or we'd have been absolutely inundated with complains - it may be a server glitch. After all, one does often see websites going off for short periods, or things not working properly for a bit.
You can just keep trying from time to time and hope that it sorts itself out; or you could try contacting Support, though I don't know how far you are likely to get there.

You will need the serial number of the covered hardware.

Unable to Create Alias Entry

I have setup a new sever with Comm Suite on it. I recreated the user in the ldap sever and imported their email and calendar data. Everything is working great except one pesky problem. I changed the ldap structure in the new server to o=isp from dc=domain,dc=com in the old. My problem is that we have a lot of other servers that authenticate using the ldap server and I need to some how alias dc=domain,dc=com to point at o=isp but the ldap server keeps giving me the message.
adding new entry dc=domain,dc=com
ldap_add: No such object
I'm using Directory Server 6.0

1.) I was wondering what the command looks like that you are entering?
2.) Is o=isp at the top of the Directory Tree?
3.) Is dc=domain,dc=com at the top of the old Directory Tree?
RFC 4512 has some discussion about alias entries and RFC 4517 has info about DN matching rule syntax. http://www.ietf.org/

Unable to create a connection in SQL developer

I'm unable to create a connection in SQL developer..it says I/O Exception, Network Adapter could not establish a connection...i provided the username and password which i used for SQL*Plus, which is working fine. And i gave the host as localhost. I don't know how to fill the connection name field..can anyone help me in connecting to the database...By the way I'm using Oracle 11g. Thankssssss

you could try to change the connection type to TNS and pick the database name available to you in the Network Alias drop-down list.

Unable to create a connection for Discussion Forums.

I have my WC_Spaces and WC_Colloboration Servers running actively. When I try to create a new connection by right-clicking Connections in Applications Resources and choose Discussion Forums and too I entered the URL and admin fields, I find its unable to create a new connection. The error displayed is : "Failed to verify connection". Please help me with this.

In your webcenter application you have created the discussion forum connection and you have connections.xml file in your application.Open the connections.xml in jdeveloper and check the discussion forum connection entry.

Change the required entries with your values(for serveraddress,port and admin user).
One more thing need to consider that is -
in jdeveloper proxy ,add the server address in exception list and restart the jdeveloper.
Sometimes it will show you up as "failed to verify the connection". But it will work atleast functionality-wise it will work.
Apart from this,I have a query on "Have you used any VPN connection to connect collaboration server to create forum connection?"

I don't have the bug number handy but I'm quite certain this was
resolved in one of the post-s10_69 builds. Please download the
official Solaris 10 initial release and by all means, let us know if you
continue to see this issue during zone installation.

RACF - create alias

In oim10g setup when I try to provision user to RACF on success of create user task I am calling another process task which defines alias for the user.
But alias creation is failing with exception :

Unable to save alias

As a new user I set up my iCloud account a few months ago. I have today tried to create an alias but I just keep getting the error message "Unable to save alias at this time"...
From trawling through the message boards I have seen this was a problem for previous ME.com users, and some people have sporaidcally had some success. However there is nothing posted since November 2012 on this and I wondered if I have missed something??? Any advice/help would be much appreciated

It seems to be an ongoing problem with some people having success. I've never had an ME account so it can't be anything to do with rolling out the icloud to replace the me.com email addresses. Its really frustrating as I need to get at least one alias up and running.

SecurityException: Unable to create temporary file with applet

My applet tries to write a temp file

Yes, that's what I found. Here is the summary to do it, hope it helps someone else:
1. Create key for signed jar:
keytool -genkey -keystore abc.com -keyalg rsa -dname "CN=Abc, OU=Def, O=GHI, L=KLMN, ST=OP, C=XY" -alias TheCert -validity 3600 -keypass password -storepass password2. Make jar file
3. Sign the jar file
jarsigner -keystore abc.com -storepass password -keypass password -signedjar SignedAppletTest.jar OrgAppletTest.jar TheCertIt works for me.

Unable to Load Database/Unable to create database.

RoboHelp 6.0 on my PC is suddenly unable to open existing
projects or create new ones. The problem is not in the projects, as
other people can unzip the same set of files and open them with
RoboHelp on their PCs.
The Details:
When attempting to open an existing project (any project
whether in version control or not), I get the message " Open
project was cancelled or the application was unable to load
database for..."
I found the article that says to delete the CPD and XPJ files
and then to use the Edit option to open the HHP file so that
RoboHelp will recreate the two files. When I try that, I get the
message "Unable to create database. Check that the directory is not
read-only." It's
not read-only.
When I attempt to create a new project, the application acts
like it is going to create one, but it just creates a project
folder without the new first topic and then repeats the New Project
Wizard window that prompts for title, etc. It will keep creating
folders and returning to this window in a loop without ever really
creating a project.
RoboSource Control is functioning normally, by the way.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled RH 6 several times, and
have even uninstalled RH 6 and installed to RH 5 just to see if it
could open projects, which it does with no problems. After that
test, I uninstalled RH 5 and reinstalled RH 6, only to encounter
the same problem all over again.
This started happening after I uninstalled other unrelated
software and received a message that some Service Pack 2 files had
been changed and prompting me to insert the Service Pack 2 CD,
which I don't have. This is because our IT department pre-builds
our systems from an image and then distributes job-specific
applications over the network. IT tried repairing Service Pack 2,
but that didn't work. I'd like to uninstall and reinstall Service
Pack 2, but the IT person says it's too risky on a system that was
built from an image.
We would like to find out
which files RoboHelp is looking for when it launches a
project so we can replace those files manually. Does anyone
know what they are or have another suggestion that might fix the
problem?
Otherwise, I am stuck having to allow IT to rebuild my
system. That means reinstalling and reconfiguring everything on it,
just as if I were upgrading to a new PC. This can take a whole work
week. However, I have already spent close to a work week on this
problem, so maybe rebuilding would save time in the long
run.

Problem Resolution = HHA.dll
For anyone who might be interested in the resolution to this
issue, we did rebuild my PC and reinstall all of my software. The
RoboHelp installation "complained" that I did not have HTML Help
Workshop on my system and told me to download version 1.4 from
Microsoft. I did have HTML Help Workshop..it's in my programs list.
(It's not listed in programs on my co-workers' PCs, and they were
not having problems, by the way.) But to make RH happy, I
uninstalled the workshop and tried to install the version from
Microsoft. But a message informed me that I already had a newer
version of the workshop on my system, and I was back where I
started. I could open projects, but there were weird problems.
Selecting Topic Properties was met with an error message, and when
the properties window opened, I could only see whatever template
was assigned (or none if the topic had lost its template), and
there was an extra section for Oracle help.
So I started dinking around in the registry to see if I could
get rid of any traces of the workshop so I could install the
version RH wanted or to find any other clues to my problem. Under
HTMLHelpAuthor, there was a reference to an HHA.dll file located in
C:\WINDOWS\system32...only the file did not exist on my system.
(Remember that my original problem was that some Service Pack 2
files were either modified or missing.) So I did a Google search on
that file name and found out that HTML Help Workshop is included in
newer Windows operating systems, but that people used to have to
get HTML Help Workshop from Microsoft, and that some people had
made the mistake of just putting the HHA.dll file into the
C:WINDOWS\system32 folder without also installing HTML Help
Workshop. At this point it was obvious that I needed the HHA.dll,
so I got it from a co-worker's PC. (Looking at the registry
entries, I can also see that my system was built with a slightly
different version of the operating system than my co-workers have.)
Adding the HHA file to my system solved the problem. All
projects but one were fine; one was still exhibiting the strange
behavior. I fixed it by going back to the RoboHelp 5 version of the
project and re-converting it to RoboHelp 6.
I suspect that if I had known about the HHA.dll file before
we rebuilt the PC, I could have solved the problem without going
through that painful process. That is why I thought I should post
the solution even though it was after the rebuild.

Unable to create a report in bi publisher 10g

Hi All,
Unable to create a report in bi publisher. When we tried to create a report abcd, then it is giving the below error.
Operation failed: /abcd/abcd.xdo.
When we tried to create a report with the existing name, it is saying
An object with the same name already exists: /crm/crm.xdo
I can say this is not any permissions problem, I have logged inwith Administrator user.

Does someone knows how to avoid the message "Unable to create report. Query produced too many results" in Grid Report Type in PerformancePoint 2010. When the mdx query returns large amount of data, this message appears. Is there a way to get all
the large amount in the grid anyway?

I would like you to try the following to adjust your readerquotas.
Change the values of the parameters listed below to a larger value. We recommend that you double the value and then run the query to check whether the issue is resolved. To do this, follow these steps:
On the SharePoint 2010 server, open the Web.config file. The file is located in the following folder:
\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\14.0\Web Services\PpsMonitoringServer\
Locate and change the the below values from 8192 to 16384.
Open the Client.config file. The file is located in the following folder:
\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\14.0\WebClients\PpsMonitoringServer\
Locate and change the below values from 8192 to 16384.
After you have made the changes, restart Internet Information Services (IIS) on the SharePoint 2010 server.

ORA-01658: unable to create INITIAL extent for segment in tablespace

NEW REPOSITORY INSTALLATION ERROR!!
I want to install a new Repository using Oracle9iR9.2.0.1 and iDS10g on windowsXP Professional the same machine.
After running all the SQL scripts ( ckqa,ckvalqa,ckcreate,ckreport) with success to installing a new Repository on my Database using "the Scripts Method",I start the Repository Administration Utility( RAU) to scheck the priveleges and so on.
After pressing the Install button in the RAU:
-I take public synonyms
-I scheck the box for "Support Designer Objects", then
-The Repository size is Medium
-I have not change the defauft Tablespace of the Repository_Manager names TEMPORARY_TABLES to store the index and table of System Data....Diagram Data.
After Starting, the Installation began an stop by installing some Tables like schown :

When I read the Help of the Error the
CAUSE was: Failed to find sufficient contiguous Space to allocate INITIAL extend for Segment being created.
ACTION: Use ALTER TABLESPACE ADD DATAFILE to add additional space to the tablespace or retry with a smaller Value for initial.
I then try to resolve it by schecking and changing the Values of INITIAL_VALUE and NEXT_VALUE in the ckparams.txt to 500k.I change the Values of TEMPORARY_TABLES(10214 to 51200k) and TEMPORARY_INDEXES from (20000 to 100000k).Then I run the scripts @ckparams.txt, @ckvalqa, @ckcreate but
-pressing the Scheck Privileges Button on the RAU still give me 106k for the INITIAL_ and NEXT_VALUE.
-And the installato still stop with the same Error.
Question: How schould I resolve this Configuration?

You are running into database errors. You should refer to the database documentation on how to adjust the size your tablespaces. The online Designer installation guide will advise you as to the sizes of tablespaces you require. Unable to create an encrypted disk image in Lion

disk utility gives the error Unable to create "Volume.dmg." (error - 60008) when creating an encrypted disk image. I am using the following steps:
    1.    Open disk utility
    2.    Select the disk (internal or external) to create the image on
    3.    Select File>New>Blank Disk Image…
    4.    Save As: 'Volume'
    5.    Name: Volume
    6.    Size: 50GB
    7.    Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    8.    Encryption: 128-bit AES encryption
    9.    Image Format: read/write disk image
    10.    Click the Create button
    11.    Password dialog appears
    12.    When I enter a password the dialog closes after entering only a few characters i.e. before I've finished typing, and the following error message displays:
Unable to create "Volume.dmg." (error - 60008)
I have previously, successfully, created encrypted disk images in Snow Leopard, and I don't know why I can't in Lion
Does anyone have any ideas?

I've tried naming the image differently, but still received the error, I did however try different permutations for the password.
The error seems to happen if I use a purely numerical password string and occurs on input of the 10th numerical character, if I start with numerical character but use an alpha before the 9th number I can continue and create a password, and I can create a password if I start with an alpha and switch to numerals after the first alpha character, purely alphabetical passwords are fine too.
It seems that Lion doesn't like purely numerical passwords greater than 9 characters, whereas Snow Leopard wasn't so fussy. Seems it's a bit of a bug.
