Unable to create Categories in iBooks (something is wrong)

Okay I would start by saying that I am too much done with trying to create categories for the books I have in iBooks Library and I don't know why I can't make this thing work anymore. Categories won't show. I used to do it fine once. But not anymore! .. Just to make it work using a clean approach, what I did is I deleted all books, uninstalled iBooks. Rebooted the device. Re-installed iBooks. Added the books in iTunes first. Edited books' Genre(it's Category, right?) desired and selected the Media kind of all the books to 'Books', in the iTunes only. Dragged and threw all the books onto iPod in iTunes. The categories however do appear in iTunes but not in iBooks. And then I also checked 'Part of a compilation' check box for group of books with the same genre. Doesn't work! .. What am I missing?  Pls helpThanks.

Log on to the portal as full admin.
Go to Administration - Authorizations
Enable the "Service Group Authorization" option.
Then log in as you were and try again.
I believe this is/was a known issue in doc.  I thought it was fixed in the latest version though.

           I was trying to create a webservice from a EJB(session bean).I executed following steps :
    1. I created the bean in one EJB project.
    2. Then created another Enterprise Project in whichEJB projects .jar file is included.
    3. Now when i right click "ejb-jar.xml" to create a webservice ,webservice wizard
       appears in which Server and WS runtime configuration are set properly.
       But it displays following error message on the top : "Select a service Project Type".
       If i click on the link on the wizard to select a "service Project type" the drop down for the same comes empty.The value for 'Service Project' is already defaulted
    as "Webservice Project ".If i go to windows->preferrences->Webservcies->ProjectTopology i found two entries in the service project type list :
                         1.Dynamic Web project
                         2.SAP Web Project
         But there is no entry for Webservice Type project.Can any one help me out
    how to solve this issue ?

    You have to change registry settings by going through REGEDIT. Under hkey_local_machine/software/oracle/<oracle home>, look for variable REPORTS_TMP. Change value for this, for example c:\windows\temp or something like that where you want oracle reports to create temp files.

    Hi rhimac,
    Glad it helped. It's a bit ugly to set up that extra column but it really isn't that much trouble. It can do the job until Apple (we hope) brings back multi-column sort.
    One further thought, that I've posted elsewhere: =A&B or =A&C&B or whatever will work if the values are all text. If you need to sort columns that contain numbers you need to "pad" the numbers with leading zeros so they will sort as you want. That's easily done. Say B is a number. You can change the B in the formula to something like RIGHT("000000000000",B,12). 
    This turns the number into a string (text), puts zeros in front of the string, and grabs the last 12 characters in the string.  So if your number was $1,250.95 it would become 000000000000$1250.95 then finally 000$1,250.95. The numbers in the other rows of the column would also start with zeros and thus sort properly. You would increase the number of zeros within the "" and increase the 12 as needed if your column happened to contain larger numbers.
    And one last thought. If you're just sorting by two columns sometimes you don't have to resort to an extra column.  Say you are sorting by A then by B.  In the popup menu at the head of the column first sort by B. Then sort by A.  It seems kind of backwards. But it will work in some situations. When you're dealing with three columns or more, though, the extra column is probably the way to go.

  • Unable to create Disc Image from DVD

    I get the following error when trying to make a copy of a family wedding DVD. I'm using Disc Utility and creating the image as a DVD/CD master (.cdr) file. It gets to about 3/4 of the way and then gives the following error.
    The internal drive is a PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K05
    Sep 10 22:13:24: Disk Utility started.
    Creating Image “Wedding of xxx & xxx.cdr”
    Reading VOLUME_IDENTIFIER (Apple_UDF : 0)...
    Unable to create “Wedding of Sarah & Federico.cdr” - Input/output error.
    I've tried twice now and the same error. Looks like I might have to use Toast/Popcorn etc?

    I do not know what that error means. However, if you open up the Disk Utility & go into it's Help Menu & in the search field type duplicating a CD or DVD. There you will find detailed instructions on how to create a disc image from a DVD.
    Good possibility your answer may be found there and/or there may have been something you missed in creating a disc image.

  • Export gives "Unable to create" error,Can't EXPORT or SHARE modified images

    I am running iPhoto 8.1.2 and I cannot export or share any images I modify.
    Upon editing images (cropping or enhancing color profile), I am unable to drag and drop images to my desktop (gives a "∅" symbol) which I used to do all the time. I cannot export them - iPhoto gives an error: "Unable to create" filename error...
    If I look at the "Show file" and verify the contents of the folder, none of the images I have modified appear there. If I look at "Show original file" all the original files are there but do not have my edits/cropping, etc. Where are my modified images going and how can I get to them? iPhoto seems like it is getting Alzheimer's or something...
    I have tried closing and re-opened iPhoto and all the images thumbnails appear to be ok with my updated crops/enhancements. Double-clicking and opening them opens files with the correct edit/enhancements. Everything seems ok until I try to export or share any of the modified photos.
    I tried rebuilding iPhoto and selecting the first 4 options but after the rebuild the problem still persists...
    None of the files that I cropped/enhanced appear in the "Modified" folder for that date. There are some files there, but they appear to be files that I deleted!
    So, where are my cropped/enhanced photos going??? iPhoto shows them ok in the Events, etc. but they are not in the "Modified" folder and I cannot export, drag/drop, email or share them...
    This has been happening to me for awhile now and it is very frustrating. iPhoto is ok so long as I don't do any cropping or enhancing. If I do that, then it gets all screwed up...
    I know that I can use something like "iPhoto Library Manager" to rebuild stuff but I don't want to lose any of my data. I have done extensive work with faces, places, attributes, names, etc...
    I JUST WANT iPHOTO TO WORK LIKE IT IS SUPPOSED TO AND LIKE IT USED TO!

    Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair Library permissions.
    If the permissions have been mucked up somehow, it's likely that your edits have not been saved.
    If the fails:
    Option 1
    Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

    But while running the same report in a windows 98 or windowsXp PC
    i dont get this error.
    What might be the problem.

    REP-118: Unable to create a temporary file.
    Case 1: The environment variable that determines in what directory to create temporary files is set to an invalid directory.
    Case 2: There is not enough free space on the disk to create the temporary file.
    Case 3: A temporary file that cannot be modified already exist
    In regedit under branch hkey_local_machine/software/oracle/<oracle home> 
    I have changed the variable REPORTS_TMP. I changed the value for this to c:\reports_tmp
    or you can use something like this where you want Oracle reports to create temp files. Hope this helps

    If you have a DBA there, ask them what the name of the tablespace is for tables and modify your table create statement to something like
    CREATE TABLE mytable (column1 NUMBER) TABLESPACE tables_tablespace;
    and chance the tables_tablespace bit to whatever your dba says is the tablespace for tables.
    It's probably a good idea to change the default tablespace for the user you are logged into the database with, unless you are logged in as sys, to something other than SYSTEM.

  • Unable to create restore disk image with Disk Utility

    I've tried three times in order to create a restore image of the users' volume of my Powerbook. I followed exactly the procedure explained typing "man asr" in a terminal window. I booted the Powerbook in target disk mode while connected to my iMac G5 from which Disk utility was run. Every time the disk image creation failed with a log report like this:

    I don't know how my imported music could create such a problem to Disk utility, nevertheless I removed the incriminated song from the Music library but another one raised to be not accessible. Then I booted the powerbook from the supplied Tiger DVD too, and I got an error over the music file, something about an allocation that was 190 instead of 1, I got the volume repaired from Disk utility but the Disk image creation failed again without any hint because booting from DVD does not allow to save log file anywhere. Why on Earth I can't manage such a critical task as back up under Tiger while using Panther everything worked like a charm following the same procedure? Is anyone experiencing something similar?

    Hi Lee, thank you for your answer, indeed I've just read carefully your article few hours ago, while I googled the net to find some hints on my issue. I think that I've followed exactly the right procedure to make the back up image, and can't find what is wrong. Actually Disk utility Repair disk successfully repaired the allocation bit (whatever that means) of the music files but that wasn't enough to let the creation of the disk image. Quite odd that the music files where recognized as messed up by Disk utility only booting from Tiger DVD and not while the Powerbook was connected to an iMac running Tiger too.
    I'll do further investigation during weekend.

  • Unable to create JAXBContext

    I'm using Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse and WLS 10.3.3. I'm trying to write a web service to do a simple Oracle database query using JDBC and then return the results. I'm attempting to return the result in an array. Each element of the array contains an instance of a custom class that I wrote to hold one row of the results. When I try to publish the web service I get an error "javax.xml.ws.WebServiceException: Unable to create JAXBContext".
    If I change the return type of the web service to a simpler type, such as String, then I can publish it with no problem.
    Is there something special I need to do when returning a complex class type, such as placing some annotations in the code?

  • Unable to create an eprint acount

    Iam unable to create an email account.  I go to sign in and it says I don't have an account.
    Then I go to create an account and it says I already have one. My model # is hp deskjet 3070A.
    I have tried many times to create an eprint account , with the same results. I tried to sign on to snapfish and
    it will not allow me to, so I did not create a snapfish account instead of an eprint account. I've tried using my printer code to no avail also!!!
    This seems to be a problem with other accounts users, what's the fix?

    HI there modupefemi welcome to the HP forums; 
    Can you try this to see if you have an old shapfish accout.
     Normally when someone has this issue, they have an existing Snapfish HP account.
    1. Go to www.snapfish.com and click on "log in" at the top right.
    2. On the splash screen that comes up click on the "forgot your password"  link and submit your email.
    3. You should receive an email with a link and a temporary password.
    4. Click on the link and log in with the temp password.
    5. Change your password to something that has at least 6 characters (at least 1 of those should be a number).
    6. Go back to www.eprintcenter.com and click on Sign In.
    7. On the next screen do not put your email or password, but click on the
    small Snapfish below.
    8. On the splash screen that comes up log in with your email and the password  you just created at Snapfish.
    This will merge your HP accounts and you should be able to log in to www.eprintcenter.com normally after that.

  • Unable to create volume - error message when exporting

    Hello - relatively new Mac and iphoto user here.
    I'm trying to export photos from iphoto to a 2 GB thumb drive. I keep getting the error message "unable to create volume" when I try to move anything but very small batches of photos over. What's going on? I tried to create a folder on my desktop for the photos but then when I try to move from there I get an error message telling me the photo "is in use" and can't be moved to the thumb drive.
    I would move them to my external hard drive but I'm having trouble with it too. It won't even show up. When I run a disk utility on it it says it can't be verified. Sigh. So that's a whole other issue that will probably take something like Disk Warrior to clean up.
    In the meantime, I'm trying to move images to the thumb drive then I'm putting the thumb drive in my other computer and moving the images from the thumb drive to it's external hard drive A long process when you can only move about 20 images at a time from iphoto.
    I'm just trying to move a good bit of old photos out of iphoto on the Mace because I'm scared that the program or even my entire computer is going to crash and I'm going to have data loss.
    What can I do about the "unable to create volume" message? And what's with the "file in use" error message when I try to move the images off a file folder on the desktop.
    Is there a better way to move 1GB of photos all at once to the thumb drive?

    Seems to be two issues complicating things here:
    I'm trying to export photos from iphoto to a 2 GB thumb drive. I keep getting the error message "unable to create volume" when I try to move anything but very small batches of photos over.
    What format is that wee drive? Mostly there are FAT16 or FAT 32 and there is a limit to the number of objects they can have on the root of the drive. The workaround is to export to a Folder on the desktop and copy that over.
    Which brings us to:
    I tried to create a folder on my desktop for the photos but then when I try to move from there I get an error message telling me the photo "is in use" and can't be moved to the thumb drive.
    You will sometimes get this message when you try to export two files +with the same name+ to a Folder. As you know your camera is well capable of producing many files called something like DSC_1234.jpeg. In iPhoto these will be in separate folders, so no problem. However, when you go to export them to the Folder on the desktop if iPhoto continues the export one will overwrite the error.
    Solution: Give the Pics a title (Photos -> Batch Change) and a sequential number. Then when you export, in the export dialogue you have the option to use the Title as filename.

  • SAP* or DDIC being unable to create logical system in SAP PI 7.1

    greetings !
    I am not a basis person.
    I had freshly installed PI 7.1.  I was finding that I am being unable to create new logical systems . I tried logging to both clients 000 and 001 using sap* , ddic , and pisuper . pisuper does not even have the authorization to execute SALE . SAP* and DDIC can excecute SALE but unable to create or assign clients.
    I reinstalled my system from scratch thinking i must have errored on something, as creating clients is a very simple task. but even the new PI 7.1 gives me the same problem.
    is something wrong with my installation , or there are additional roles/authrizations I need to assign to a user.

    Besides PISUPER other users are also created some of the are PIAFUSER, PIDIRUSER, PIRWBUSER etc. Every user has a specific purpose in a PI system. For activities like creating logical system etc. own id's should be used.
    There are couple of guides out there which explains in detail the purpose of all the users in PI system.

    I am unable to create a billing based on a sales order as it is a order-related billing,it shows "no billing documents were generated see log", but when I am going to edit --->log, there is no log, and I had searched threads in this forum and had not found the answer to that, I had checked this order and there is no billing block, order is completed,and credit had got released,then I went to vtfa, aslo target billing type and source sales doc type had been maintained as well as item categories, help.

    What kind of Billing doc you are creating from delivery?
    If its Return or Cash Sales, billing relevance B is ok.
    Else, if it is a simple outbound delivery, I would recommend you to have billing relevance as A.
    Still, the error is related to any standard config, you we able to see the log.
    The log will have (to get following structure open all nodes)
    1. Error Log
    2. Error desc.
    3. Technical data
    4. Tech. data details
    i. Client
    ii. Group Number
    iii. Reference Document Number
    iv. Item Number of the Refernence Document
    v. Counter in Control Tables

  • Unable to create "filename.dmg" (error -60008) {Disk Utility Problem}

    Hi:
    I’ve used Disk Utilities awesome capabilities many times, but am now running into my first real problem.
    I am trying to create a 100 GB new blank disk image, using the “Mac OS Extended (Journaled) option for format, 256-bit AES encryption, a single partition-Apple Partition Map, and Image Format as read/write disk image.
    When I implement this, it asks for the AES password then repeatedly crashes, albeit in slightly different ways each time. The most informative was a Unable to create “filename.dmg” (error -60008) message. I can’t find anything explanatory about this in Google
    I’m wondering if this has something to do with my upgrade to Lion (OS 10.7.4) yesterday from Snow Leopard.
    This error occurs on both my home and work iMacs. It seems to reliably occur about 1/2 way through typing in my password. The error occurs whether I use 128 or 256 AES encryption.
    There is more than adequate space on the hard drive I am attempting to place this image on. Disk Utility is version 12.1.1 (353) and all is running on a 2.66 GHz Intel Core i5 iMac.
    Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you
    PS: This is a duplicate post from the OS Lion forums ( https://discussions.apple.com/message/18410534#18410534 ), but since a) it occurs on both my Intel iMacs, b) I totally rely on Disk Utility's capabilities, so this loss with the Lion upgrade really hurts, and c) we've had no luck in the Lion forums, we're hoping someone here has seen this issue and can help. Much appreciated.

    Hello, I believe that's an authentication error, thinks your not an admin account. Might try this...
    Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, move this folder to the Desktop for now...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/ByHost /
    reboot when it completes.
    (Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
