Unable to create Sybase master device

Hello,
Before starting Sybase install, I have created two raw devices c0t0d0s3 & c0t0d0s4.
Then I did:
chown sybase:staff /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s3
chown sybase:staff /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s4
Sybase install errors off while creating master device:

kernel Adaptive Server Enterprise Developer Edition
kernel basis_dsizecheck: attempt to open device '/dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s3' failed, system error is: Device busy
kernel kistartup: Unable to create master device
I have investigated who holds the device:
# fuser /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s3
/dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s3: 443o
# ps -ef | grep 443
root 1276 1274 0 13:22:27 pts/3 0:00 grep 443

  • Unable to create material master

    Hi
I tried creating material master using tcode MM01. I have done the basic config to start using MM (i am a FICO guy).
When i create the material master, and try to save, it opens another window of "ABAP Debugger Controls Session" and I am not sure what to do there...when i exit from the debugger screen, it takes me back to SAP Easy Access Menu...
any idea guys why this error is coming.
    thanks
    Vikash

    Hi,
You should get your ABAPer to sit down with you while you are maintaining material master creation and once the same error was encountered, you shall ask them to turn off the 'debugging mode' of the related program.
    Cheers,

Now with this sales area i can create a sales order. So it seems that in Enterprise Structure everything is OK.
But when i try to create a customer in XD01 system is showing the messege "sales org 1100, dist ch 15, Div 01 is not defined for customer ans also in MM01 screen messege is "Sales org 1100, dist channel 15 is invalid".
    What could be the problem?
    Regards
    Debasish

    HI.
If u want to create masters, u have to make entries in
    1. Common Distribution Channels - OVR1
ex . Sales Org    DChan     DCh Cond       DCh Cust/Mat
           1100            00            00                   00
    2. Similarly Combine Divisions - OVR2
Ex. Sales Org    Division     Div  Cond       Div Cust
           1100            00            00                   00
In short make entries in OVR1 AND OVR2.
    Thanks

  • Unable to Create a Disk Image of Device

    Hello.
The MacIntosh is a Mac Mini w/1.83Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo. The OS is Snow Leopard, 10.6.2. I am unable to create a disk image of the device "Macintosh HD".
    Here's my procedure:
    1) Reboot the Mac Mini from the Snow Leopard Install Disk
    2) Set Language and then load "Disk Utility"
    3) Select the Macintosh HD from Disk Utility
    4) Set "Create a New Image from Macintosh HD"
    5) Leave the settings as they are (type of disk image is "compressed" target repository is root home dir)
    6) Error message is "Unable to create Macintosh HD (error -61)"
    7) When I then try to create a blank disk image, once again, with root home as repository the error message is "Unable to create name.dmg (read-only) file system"
    Any suggestions how to fix?
    Thanks
    Mike

you can smb from terminal but it will not help you. you'll need to create a folder which will serve as the mount point first and where will you put it? you can not do it on the dvd. and you can not put it in the main drive itself. but why do you need to do it that way at all. there is no need to boot from the DVD period. boot normally and clone your hard drive to a remote disk image on an smb share using one of many backup programs that can do this. Superduper can do it. so can CCCloner.

  • Unable to create master detail report

    Hi,
I´ve two tables (Organisation and Purchases) and want to create a master-deatil with the wizard.
At the end an error occurs:
ORA-20001: Unable to create master detail page. ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character to number conversion error
Unable to create Master Detail pages.
    Return to application.
Any ideas ? Any reaction will be appreciated
    Leo

    Leo,
How are your two tables related? Do you have a foreign key constraint? It sounds like that there may be a datatype mismatch between the master table's PK and the detail table's FK - check to make sure that they are both NUMBER.
    Thanks,

  • Why does Group created on Master console does not show any device count mapped on the managed Amp?

Q: Why does Group created on Master console does not show any device count mapped on the managed Amp?
A: When a group is created on master console it will be pushed to all the managed amp which is added with Manage group configuration enabled. The Group pushed to the managed amp will be created as Global group and you can create subscriber groups for the global group to which you will add the device into since we cannot add any devices into global group directly.
Hence there is no device added to the global group, on the master console it does not show any device count for the groups that are created on master console.

  • Unable To Create New Open Directory Master

I have a brand new installation of MacOS X Mountain Lion Server, latest version, in a brand new Mac Mini. This Mac Mini is being co-located in a data centre, and I am setting it up via remote access (screen sharing). The data centre has setup DNS zone records for my domain, including a reverse DNS PTR record, and everything in the DNS is working fine.
During the installation of Server, when the installer asked for the type of 'Host Name', I selected 'Host name for Internet'. The installer was able to use the IP address of the Mac Mini to automatically find the correct host name, and configure it. Once the installation was complete, no services were turned on - not even DNS, as the installer probably figured out that DNS services were being handled externally.
The first thing I went to try and do was to turn on Open Directory. I turn the service on, and a sheet comes down, where I select to "Create a new Open Directory Domain". I click 'next', and on the next sheet I enter the OD Administrator's details, and password. Click 'next' again, and then I get the following message:
"This computer's host name is invalid.
The host name does not resolve to any configured address of this computer. Please ensure the host name is correct."
Opening Terminal app, and typing "hostname", I get the correct hostname, as showing in Server app itself.
Entering "sudo changeip -checkhostname" in Terminal app, I get all correct details for the IP address and host name of the machine, and the message: "The names match. There is nothing to change. dirserv:success = 'success'"
I finally tried getting Server app to change the host name itself - going into the Server pane, select the 'Network' tab, and in the 'Names' section, next to the host name, click on the "Edit..." button. Again, went through the wizard, and the wizard again was able to find the hostname automatically from the machine's IP address. Once the 'changing' process was completed, I went to try and initialise Open Directory, and again, got the same message.
Can anyone shed any light? Any suggestion would be welcome at this stage...

MrHoffman, thank you for your guidance. You have, however, given me a bit of a headache.
    MrHoffman wrote:
127.0.0.1 is likely going to be incorrect here.  Please reference the DC DNS servers, and not a local server.  If you're in a DC and particularly with a public-facing host without an outboard firewall to block DNS traffic, you likely do not want to be running your own local DNS services.
As described previously, the server was referencing the DC DNS servers. The server was not running its own DNS service. Open Directory was not able to detect that the ip address and the hostname were correct with this setup - even though the command line on the server as well as externally showed that all DNS records were setup correctly, and that the IP address and hostname matched. The server's own installation wizard and 'Change Host Name' wizard automatically detected the hostname from the machine's ip address - by consulting the reverse DNS PTR record in the DC DNS servers.
Starting the server's own DNS server - and adding '127.0.0.1' to the top of the DNS list in Preferences - allowed me to create the Open Directory master, finally. Of course, the internal DNS server was setup so that only the server itself could access it - it was closed to any other machines - and even then, I had it running only momentarily: once Open Directory created its master domain, I switched DNS service off, and removed '127.0.0.1' from the DNS list in Prefences.
With that setup, everything seemed to work fine. All users were able to login, access their share points and their mail.
    MrHoffman wrote:
For the host name, the host name would usually be the FQDN fully-qualified domain name, and "example.com" isn't usually a host name.  You'd usually find somehostname.example.com here
That is the only machine in the domain. All public sub-domains - like 'mail', 'www' or 'calendar' - point to the same machine. The reverse DNS PTR record points to the higher-level domain "example.com".
Your warning, however, made me worried:
    MrHoffman wrote:
I'd probably rebuild the OD configuration, as I'd wonder of OD now had a bogus host name.  Once bad DNS gets involved, the entanglements can be quite pernicious..
So I decided to heed your advice, and rebuild OD. I deleted the Open Directory master, and tried rebuilding it with DNS service turned off. As before, OD insists that "the host name does not resolve to any configured address of this computer", and refuses to create the new Master. I ended up following the procedure above again - switching DNS service on temporarily to get OD to work.
The problem is, that now no user can connect to the server anymore. Everyone keeps getting a message stating that their password is wrong - including users on their iPhones and iPads.
I suspect that when I created the new OD Master, it created a new certificate, and that is what is causing problems. While I could try to get the desktop users to delete the old certificates from their keychain, this is not really an option for iPhone/iPad users.
Where do I go from here? After almost 24 hours straight dealing with this, I'm at the end of my rope...

  • Non site collection admins unable to create publishing sites

I've come across a problem which a number of other people have found and blogged about a 'fix', this is where non site collection administrators are unable to create sub sites with the publishing site templates (both with and without workflow version).
The 'fix' for this is to grant 'Restricted Read' permission to everyone on the Masterpage and DeviceChannels folders.
Does anyone know if this has been fixed properly, i.e. by Microsoft in one of the updates?  I'm still going through them one by one but haven't yet found one that sorts it out.
    Thanks.

    Hi Simon,
I tested the same scenario per your post in my environment, and I cannot create the publishing site when I had no permission on the Device Channels list.
It seems that we need to have at least Read permission on the Device Channels list (no permission is needed on the Master Pages Gallery ), then the publishing site can be created successfully.
I checked the ULS log and found that the Device Channels list was needed to be requested when creating the publishing site. So if we have no permission on the Device Channels list, we cannot access the list and then the creation of the publishing
    site will fail.
It is by design that Read permission is needed on the Device Channels list when creating the publishing site.
    Best regards.

  • Unable to create image buffer after RAM preview

Running into an odd and frustrating error. Built a comp using the new Ray-traced 3D renderer and now I'm regretting being an early adopter big time with all the problems I've been encountering with it. The latest comes whenever I do a longer RAM preview in an attempt to watch the whole duration of my comp. It will get to about 170 frames or so, at which point I've interrupted by pressing spacebar because I don't need to see all the way to the end of my work area (around 220 frames). It'll play the RAM preview back fine, and even loop it, but as soon as I stop playback, I get this error message: "After Effects warning: Unable to create image buffer." There's only one button: "okay" and as soon as I click it the same error pops up again and it will never go away, forcing me to close AE from the task manager. I've taken to saving before every RAM preview like I used to do with Flash before previewing my buggy swfs for fear I'll lose all my work after previewing. Any ideas about what might be causing this?
Some more details about my comp:
    1920x1080 @ 29.97

Yeah, some buffer is very likely not flushing when you interrupt the preview and then there is no more memory on the graphics hardware. Consider setting the work area and your preview options to use only the work area. if it finishes the preview "correctly", it may not suffer the issue. Beyond that - raytracing doesn't/ shouldn't care about the number of items. The math is such, that it makes no difference whether you render a million polygons or just one. Of course there are still limitations due to the GPU dependency, but I doubt you ever truly exhaust the cards' geometry buffers. Compared to pixel data that is a small amount...

I do not know what that error means. However, if you open up the Disk Utility & go into it's Help Menu & in the search field type duplicating a CD or DVD. There you will find detailed instructions on how to create a disc image from a DVD.
Good possibility your answer may be found there and/or there may have been something you missed in creating a disc image.
    Good luck.

  • Unable to create virtual folder. Too many folders

    Hi,
We are getting this error while trying to create new folder in UCM (even trying directly from UCM throws same error)
oracle.stellent.ridc.protocol.ServiceException: Unable to create virtual folder. Too many folders
Has anyone experienced this? If yes, please let us know how you resolved it.
    Thanks!

You don't "store" anything in contribution folders. They are just webdav access points. I recommend zero folders personally.
If you want to upload files using webdav, then I suggest using one staging folder, where files can enter the system. When the document is workflowed and/or verified, it is moved out of the folder. It's more likely however that you'll need a few access points for various types of content as each folder enforces specific metadata.
Now I imagine you are after a way to store all the HR bits and pieces of one person together as a unit. Some people use Content Folios. Personally, I'd just use a metadata field that contains the ContentID of the person's master record. Any new content for that person just gets the master ContentID stamped on it. Just search for that ContentID to get all their stuff.
Regarding best practices, there are lots of quality blogs floating around. Stellent/Oracle don't talk about best practice because each system is used by their clients in a unique way... well, that's what they say.

    Can any one help?

If you want to create a backup of your system volume, then do not use disc images. They are not bootable. Here's a far better solution:
How to Clone Using Restore Option of Disk Utility
    1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
    2. Select the backup or destination volume from the left side list.
    3. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (journaled, if available) and click on the Erase button. This step can be skipped if the destination has already been freshly erased.
    4. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
    5. Select the backup or destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
    6. Select the startup or source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
    7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
