Unable to delete downloading rental movies

I rented three movies from iTunes.
My iPad did not have enough space for all 3
Now I want to CANCEL the downloading and just download 1.
Unable to do so, no X to cancel or Kill...

All it says is to download the lasted vers in iTunes which I already have.
That's not true. It goes on to say:
"If you have the most recent version and are still unable to download your rental, you may be able to resolve your issue by removing the "SC Info" folder. To do so, follow these steps:"
... and then gives links to instructions on how to do so for your particular operating system. So best to proceed with the instructions for your operating system.

How do I delete a rental move that could not be downloaded

Have you tried swiping across the progress bar and see of a delete button comes up that way?
Or try Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Videos. If the movie appears in the setting, try the edit button in the upper right corner.
You can also try resetting the iPad and then see if you can delete the download.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Cancel or delete partially downloaded rental movie on iPad... how?

I have a partially downloaded rental movie on my iPad in iTunes which I would like to cancel.
I have searched high and low, and it seems the only way I can do this is to connect to a computer which is not possible for me at this time. I was wondering if anybody had any other ideas on how I can achieve this?
Here are things I have already tried:
    - In the downloading section of iTunes, swiping left to write and selecting the delete button. Swiping does nothing, no delete button appears.
    - in Settings, General, Usage, Movies, choosing Edit and deleting... The movie doesn't appear in this section
If anybody can help, please do?
    - Ta, Krista.

I know i am replying to an old thread but thought someone else might find this useful. I paused the partial download, then wrote an email to Apple via the support link for iTunes store requesting that the download be removed from the queue explaining why ( in my case because i purchased HD instead of SD) and about 1 hour later received an email from Apple saying they cancelled my download and even offered me a refund. Not bad service I say.

How can I delete old rental movies that are still on my iPad, but are no longer viewable because the rental has expired?

I have a similar problem.  The default answer on the web is to open Videos on your iPad, then touch and hold the movie you wish to delete, then tap the little cross that appears. Alternatively, you can connect to iTunes, select your device in the list, scroll down to the Rentals summary and delete from there.
I have a problem with both of these solutions!  The Video App on my iPad does not contain any video icons, just an option to browse my shared library, so I can't delete it from there... ANd in iTunes, the movie in the Rntals tab on my device summary is greyed out, so I can't do anything from there either.  But the movie is taking up 2.5 Gb....
Can someone please offer an alternative to resetting the device entirely?!

  • How do I play my downloaded rental movie on my ipad2?

How do I play my downloaded rental movie on my ipad2 and where do I find it...help ?

If you've downloaded the film directly on the iPad or synced it to the iPad from your computer's iTune then it should show in the Videos app on the iPad - it's icon looks like a film clapperboard.

  • Where would any downloaded rental movies be downloaded to on my iPad? Just spent over $40 in data top ups and nearly two days trying to a. Download a purchased movie and b. find the movie on my iPad.

I bought this iPad (think it is an iPad 2 not actually sure, a about a few months ago. Yesterday I decided to go on iTunes store and purchase a rental movie which cost approx $6 NZD. After about 2 hours I ran out of data and the movie hadn't even downloaded halfway so I purchased more data thinking another Gb would do. Then i got a message from itunes that my ipad didnt have enough storage so i went into settings and dleeted apps and docs (apparently also deleted from icloud too) to make room for the movie. Now after purchasing another 7GB of data at over three times the cost of the rented movie it finally finished downloading and I had enough space on my iPad. But now I can't find the actual movie...I go to iTunes to purchases and view movies , to downloads and searched the title of the movie...I can see an icon of it and it is in a separate place from other purchases but it says downloaded in faded lettering. Where is it? Why have I just wastednearlyb$50 just tying to download and watch one measly movie! It is obviously some secret formula or thing I've missed...it shouldn't be so hard! The day before this I successfully downloaded a song I purchased and can listen to with no probs.  do I need another app to store downloaded movies or something?

If you can't find the movie you downloaded on your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch, check inside your Videos App

  • Unable to sync itunes rental movie to iphone

Have an iphone 3Gs....rented a movie but am unable to sync it to my phone. Movie seemed to take a long time to download to my MacBook Pro but is in my iTunes. Have not had previous problems with rental movie.

    HD content will not xfr...
when you purchase HD content, you get both SD and HD...only the SD can be synced to iPhone...honestly I've never rented HD so I can't say if you also get an SD view...but I highly doubt it so you will most likely not be able to sync an HD rental...
What did you try to sync

  • Downloaded rental movie to Itunes on desktop pc.  How do I transfer that rental to empty Itunes library on Notebook PC which is hooked up to my TV so I can view the movie?

I purchased an Itunes movie rental which downloaded to the Itunes library on my desktop PC.
However, as the desktop PC is too far away from my TV, I have cabled my Netbook PC to the TV.  I installed Itunes on the Netbook, have logged into my Itunes account using my regular Itunes ID & Password.  I thought my entire library would transfer over to the Notebook being it is one of my "authorized" computers.  However, the Notebook Itunes library is empty.
How do I watch the purchased download on the TV?  Is there a way to transfer the download from desktop Itunes to Notebook Itunes library?
    Thank you.

    HI and welcome...
The rental movie has to be synced from iTunes.
Launch iTunes. Select Movies on the left under Library. Drag the movie from your Desktop to the iTunes window.
Connect your iPad. Select the iPad under Devices on the left side of the iTunes window. Select the Movies tab, select: Sync Movies then click the Sync button bottom right corner of the iTunes window.

  • Downloaded rental movie from iTunes cannot be transfered to new iPad

I have the new iPad. I downloaded a rental movie (Sherlock2). Tried to move it from iTunes on my mac to my new ipad, but says it can't be played on this iPad? According the specs it should be possible and the movie isn't even HD. Anyone?

Never mind. 15 minutes of research revealed that we own a 5th generation iPod, which evidently is not compatible with rentals. I am quite annoyed. Thanks Apple, for not making this clear at all in your FAQ. There should be a much more definitive description for compatibility in the FAQ, as I don't know anyone who is aware of which specific 'generation' of iPod they own. I had to go through the huge list of past and present models on the support site before figuring this out.
Does anyone know if it is possible to get a refund if we have not yet attempted to play the movie on our Windows machine that we rented the movie with?

  • HT204411 do i need an internet connection to watch a downloaded rental movie?

If i download a movie for "rental" on a Monday, arrive in Europe on Tuesday, and begin to watch it Tuesday night (in Europe) 1) will I need an internet connection to watch it and 2) will the 24/48 hour period be based on usage?

Yes Kappy, that's correct. If youre using the U.S. itunes Store, rentals expire after 24 hours from the time you started watching it; otherwise, some countries' rentals have a 48-hour expiration period.
Just a tip: let it finish downloading first before watching so it won't expire prematurely.

  • Leaving room on Hard Disc for downloading Rental Movies.

Using the Sync mode vs Streaming. How do you Sync music and playlists to the AppleTV and leave enough room for Rental Movie Downloans...need to save about 10 GB for HD movies.
SUGGESTION: Seems like we need a selection on the Apple TV Summary page in iTunes which would allow us to specify the hard disc space to be kept vacant.
Automatic mode and Custom mode fills the AppleTV to the brim.

I have checked my settings. It appears that in either Custom Sync or Auto Sync, if you are syncing any music at all, the software will automatically fill in any unused hard disc with more music. The only way I can see to leave unused disk space is to not sync any music. Or, just not use syncing and use just Streaming by selecting "Add Shared iTunes Library" from the "Computers" area of the "Settings" screen on the Apple TV.
Could you be more specific with suggestions?
