Unable to delete e-mail

So here's a weird problem for you out there. A while back, I got an e-mail from a friend of mine on my iPod. After reading it, I tried to delete it. I got an error message back about being unable to delete it. I tried a couple more times, same problem. I ended up being able to delete it by taking my iPod offline, deleting it (and then emptying it from my trash), and then reconnecting. Has anyone had a similar issue before and know what might have caused this? Thanks.

I have my GMail pushed to my iPod. Does that explain anything?

  • Unable to delete IMAP mail account in Yosemite

I have set up a number of IMAP mail accounts, but have changed servers. I'm unable to delete the old accounts in the "Accounts" tab of Mail with an "error" dialog referring me to "Internet Accounts" tab of System Preferences. The accounts do NOT exist in this list. The accounts have been unchanged for years and have migrated with each OS & Mail.app upgrade.
I don't necessarily wish to delete the accounts - if I could just edit the server details that would do the job, however that  field is greyed-out and can't be edited.

I am having the exact same problem. iPhone 5 on 7.1. I try to 'turn off' contacts, the phone requires me to 'delete my account'. I agree to do so, and the phone just 'hangs' at the 'Delete' screen. I have allowed it to continue for over a half hour.

  • Can somebody tell me why recently I am unable to delete e-mail messages on my I-Pod?

For some reason I am unable to delete certain e-mail messages in my hotmail account.  Then when I delete other e-mail messages they re-appear when I check for my mail.  Can anybody tell me why this is happening?

Try logging into the account on webmail and delete them their. Then try deletiong from the iPod.
Also try a reset, nothing is lost except hopefully the emails.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • Unable to delete some mail messages.

My inbox is filled with messages marked No sender, No message. I can't delete them. Can someone help me out. I need to get rid of them.
    Thanks very much.

Close the mail app and reboot your iPad.
Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the mail app and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
See if they have gone away or of you can delete them now.

  • Unable to delete e-mail messages

    Good day,
Model is TORCH 9810 version 7.0.0.585, platform 5.0.0.734 (suppose these codes refer to the software versions, am no IT expert). Problem: unable to permanently delete some messages, not all.
In case anyone has a suggestion ... thank you in advance

ok, what does happen when you try to delete one of them... are they email messages?
Are you deleting only only on the handheld or on the server also?

  • Unable to Delete Pending Mail from Queue

I have a large number of emails in the APEX_MAIL_QUEUE that are actually getting sent, but are not being cleared out of the mail queue. So they keep getting retried, which sends them out multiple times. Is there a way to manually delete these from the queue?
    I am using APEX 4.2.0.00.27.

    The solution is to use
    PUSH_QUEUE Procedure
Oracle Application Express stores unsent email messages in a table named APEX_MAIL_QUEUE. You can manually deliver mail messages stored in this queue to the specified SMTP gateway by invoking the APEX_MAIL.PUSH_QUEUE procedure.
Oracle Application Express logs successfully submitted message in the table APEX_MAIL_LOG with the timestamp reflecting your server's local time.Keep in mind, the most efficient approach to sending email is to create a background job (using a DBMS_JOB package) to periodically send all mail messages stored in the active mail queue.

  • Unable to delete mailboxes

    Hi
I am facing lot of issues post moving on to the new nokia belle. Unable to delete gmail  mail box...it just shows deleting but it never ends. would appreciate if any one has a solution for the same...

    Hi bhaviksparmar,
    Welcome to the Nokia forum.
Try a hard reset and then reinstall the update after that. This should fix the issue.
Make sure you make a back up with Nokia Suite first by going to Tools > Back up. Don't tick the Settings box as this will backup the bug that's causing this. Once you've made the backup, enter *#7370# into your phone and default security code 12345, unless you've changed this code yourself.
Once the phone has rebooted, reconnect it to Nokia Suite and reinstall the current software to make sure you really get rid of all possible bugs. You can do this by clicking on the green arrow in Nokia Suite.
After you've done the above, place the backup back onto your phoneb by going to Tools > Restore in Nokia Suite and then it should work.
Let me know how you get on so that I can troubleshoot further, if necessary.

  • Unable to delete mail from Inbox to Trash

    Hi,
I'm having a couple of deleting issues with regards to mail in my Inbox. I am unable to move any mail form my inbox to trash. The following error is appearing:
The message “#######” could not be moved to the mailbox “Trash — mail.#######.co.uk” The destination mailbox “Trash — mail.#######.co.uk” does not allow messages to be moved to it.
Now obviously the error is pretty self explanatory. I can't move mail from the inbox to trash which is used by a SMTP account. But weirdly enough, up until recently I could quite easily do this.
    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
    Dan.

Is this a local account (POP3 or POP3s) or an IMAP account?
If it is local you might need some disk repair. If it is IMAP you might need to check if the permissions have changed. You could also try removing and recreating the trash folder.

  • Unable to delete mail from inbox. Message cannot move mail from inbox to trash.  How do I solve this.

I am unable to delete mail from my inbox.  A window appears saying "message could not be moved to the mailbox trash.  How do I fix this.

Give your phone a reboot - hold down power/home button together for 10 to 15 secs or until you see the apple logo and then release, wait for your phone to reboot and then try moving  your mail again.

Unable to delete email from trash bin.  How do I do this?  If I select and chose delete, it doesn't.  What am I doing wrong?  My grand daughte is using my iPad and I don't want her to see some of the mail there.

There are two ways that should work. When you are in the trash folder, you can swipe on the email in the list - left to right - and a red Delete button should pop up. Or you can select - Edit - at the top of the list of messages and then select the message and tap delete.
Not sure exactly how this works - but if you have restrictions enabled - especially since you let your grandchild use the device - that may be restricting what you can do in the mail app. Go to Settings>General>Restrictions. If you have it set to on - turn it off or see if you have mail restricted.

  • Unable to delete an email from a Gmail account in Mail

I am unable to delete an email from my Gmail (IMAP) account within Mail on my MacBook. I get an error message that says there are no matches with the email. It does not show in Mail on my iMac or on my Gmail account online. I have rebuilt the mailbox, but don't know any other steps to try to fix this problem.
Does anyone know how to delete this email?
    Thanks -

Thanks for the suggestions. I did not find the message on my Gmail Internet account. I went into Mail Preferences, and used the Advanced tab under my Gmail account to uncheck "Enable this account". The account folders disappeared. When I restarted Mail and enabled Gmail again, the email was initially gone, but a few minutes later, reappeared. I don't know anything else left to do except delete the account and recreate it If you think of anything else, please let me know.
    Thanks -

  • Can't sign out of iCloud on Yosemite. Mail was unable to delete 'email'.

I have a MacBook Pro running Yosemite 10.10.1 and I'm trying to log out of my iCloud account, but it won't let me. The error message I keep getting says,
"Mail was unable to delete 'email'. Relaunch Mail then sign out of iCloud again."  I get the same message if I try to delete the account from Internet Accounts.
I've tried adding the email account in, but it says it's already there. I've deleted the com.apple.mail folder rebooted and tried and still the same thing.
The supervisor and engineers at Apple phone support have yet to find a solution for this other than wiping my system clean and starting fresh. That's definitely not my preference.
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Stacy

I had the same issue. I rebooted to safe mode by holding the shift key at boot up. From there I went to System Preferences, iCloud, and I was able to finally sign out.
    Hope this works for you.

*I have been unable to delete any messages from my trash. I get a message: an error occurred while moving messages to mailbox "trash on my mac". *Any help anyone can share would be most helpful. This has been happening all day today whenever I log on to Mail.*
    *Thank you for your time.*

Actually it will happen again, you can wait for it. It usually takes a few months and the entire cycle starts again. Apple knows perfectly well that mail is not working as it should for many years, especially in combination with Mobile Me synchronization. Don't be mistaken in the end nothing will help not vacuum your mailbox except removing your plist file and rebuilding it. With the Mobile Me that is not even able to alphabetically order your mail accounts it would be fun when you have numerous email accounts. Good luck. If I had the possibility to switch to another emailer I would have done so many years ago. However I am stuck with DMI from Marketcircle.
