Unable to delete interrupted download (song)

I downloaded a track from iTunes but an icon of a square inside a circle is always next to it and I am unable to delete the song.  Ive tried swiping, but nothing is working!  Please help!

A reset should clear them. Hold down the Sleep and Home button for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo.

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • Unable to drag or download songs from PC

I have a 4th generation ipod touch, windows 7 PC & itunes 11.2.3.  I am unable to drag songs from itunes library to ipod touch (receive error message that songs do not exist).  This happens to either songs purchased through itunes or songs from cd's.  I also do not see a download button next to any songs.  What step am I missing?  Thanks.

Do the songs play in iTunes? I suspect not and I suspect they have an ! by them. That means that iTunes can't find the actual music files.
    If so then:
iTunes: Finding lost media and downloads
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
You will have to reimport any CD music

  • Unable to delete crash causing song from i-tunes

I have a song in my library that causes i-tunes to crash/not respond when syncing my i-pod.
I have tried to delete it but instead of being asked if I want to keep the file or move it to the trash, nothing. I've tried the basic recommendations. Where do I go to delete this song?

This is the WIndows forum by the way.....your signature is all about the Macs.
Delete it and empty trash from the actual hard drive in Finder, and itunes wont be able to find it and crash on it.
If you want to save that file (although why you would want to save a crashy file, I am not sure) then you could rename it and move it to some other folder than the itunes folder. Again, so itunes can't find it to crash on.

  • Unable to delete broken downloads from desktop?

    Hello all -
I am running Mac OS X version 10.2.8.
I have a whole bunch of 'broken' download icons on my desktop, ie they stay there if my browsers ever unexpectedly quit (taking my downloads with it) etc.
When ever I go to try and drag one of these icons to the waste bin, the following message pops up with a yellow triangle containing an exclamation mark next to the message:
    'Preparing To Move To 'Trash''
The Item 'xxxx' is being used by another task right now. (Other tasks include moving, copying, or emptying the trash.)
Try again when the other task in complete.
Except that I am definately not doing any of those tasks? Any ideas 'coz my desktop is a mess at the moment, its so irritating!

  • Unable to access previously downloaded songs after added new ones

i added some new songs to my nano and now they are the only ones that i can listen to. when i connect my nano to itunes i still cannot listen to any songs other than the ones i most recently added.

First, are the old songs showing on the Nano or are the new ones the only showing? Are you getting any types of error messages or icons when you attempt to play these songs in iTunes? You may want to try removing all of the songs from your ipod and re-syncing them back on to see if that helps. Also, try resetting the ipod.

  • TS1424 "Unable to Download Song" message in iTunes app on iPod Touch?

I did look to see if this question was posted anywhere else, but did not see it. So if it has already been answered, my apologies.
I am hooked up to the wireless, logged into iTunes, credit card good to go. Every time I go to download a song, it stops with "download error" and then another message pops up stating "Unable to Download song" and that it could not be downloaded at this time. I've tried downloading other songs and the same thing happens.

I've been getting this problem too, seems the album/song as noted is corrupted (I did stop it halfway into downloadign when I was in Spain and didn't have a ton of bandwidth). I just need to delete this error message.
    As seen here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/18244258#18244258
Swipe the failing song horizontally to get the red Delete option, then delete.
So easy once you know, no?
Once that failed "in progress" download was deleted, I asked iTunes to re-download it and it went through just fine.

I had the same problem.  Try this: Open the iTunes app.  On the bottom menu bar, go to Downloads. There will be at least one item in downloads. Swipe horizontally across the item to get the delete button, then tap Delete.

  • Turn off show all music; extra songs appear in iPhone library; unable to delete

I turn ON 'show all music', then download a couple more songs I want from iCloud to expand my iPhone5 library.  Then I turn 'show all music' back OFF and a myriad of other songs appear in my library that I did not want downloded to my phone (nor did I select from the cloud) and I am unable to delete them from the library...
This sounds like a glitch with the iOS 7.0.4 as I am unable to find a similar solution in the community other than "delete all your music and start over..." which is not the route I'd like to take.  If there are other remedies out there, please help!  Apple, if you're listening, please fix!  I have over 750 songs in the cloud!

Items with the Cloud icon are not on your phone. They are items that have been purchased previously but have since been deleted. You can download them again by tapping the Cloud icon.

  • Unable to delete songs from my iPad 2

Last night for the first time ever I had problems updating iOs (version 7.0.4) on my iPad 2. I kept getting one of several messages, for example, saying: iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes. I went through the update three times before it finally worked.
Then I found that I had every song that I had ever purchased cluttering up -- and filling up -- my iPad. Although in the past I was able to delete either a single song or an entire album, I am now UNABLE TO DELETE ANY SONG.
I have the iTunes setting on Manual update and have attempted to completely disconnect the disgusting iCloud feature. However, it appears that iCloud is NOT disconnected.
I happily use the iPad 2 ONLY for a very few uses on a daily basis. I wish to control ALL my music from my iMac.
I've been with Apple since 1984, but I'm seriously thinking of ditching this iPad 2 for a Samsung product.
    Any assistance will be appreciated.

Somehow I got 12 songs on my ipad mini that I could not remove.
I stumbled across a solution.  Plug in the ipad and UN-check "sync music" to remove all but the remaining unwanted song.  Find the song in your itunes library and right click these unwanted songs and RE-ADD it directly to the ipad.
The ipad should automatically re-check "sync music" and show one song being synced.  Now manually UN-check the sync music box again and the warning will come up "are you sure...existing songs...removed".  Select remove and click the "apply" button in itunes.  Once the changes are applied, you should see the song remove itself from your ipad.
    Good luck!
