Although not for the same purpose I have answered at full on what you could do to if your PC can't see your micro.
First of all try All three recovery options in the order presented:
Clean up
Format (ok, you said you already formated but whatever)
Reload Firmware
If you still can't see it then follow the advices at this thread:
Hope this hel

  • Help with ripping mixed cd to zen micro pla

New at this, my friend made me a mixed cd that is already tracked. I want to rip the cd into my zen micro mp3 player. After I rip it into my player will it pause after every track or will it play through the whole mixed cd. Can anyone explain to me step by step on how to do this. Thanks, Fernando

You can rip the CD using various programs, including Creative's MediaSource.
Once on the Micro you just queue the album on the player, make sure the play mode is set to normal, then it will play the tracks in sequence.
If there's any part of this that you need more detail on then post back.

Strange that WMP doesn't detect it, presumably you have v0? Worth checking the link "problems with connecting using MTP firmware" in the FAQ post and installing the hot fixes.
Also make sure you have the latest software with MTP updates, by downloading and installing the following:
    . Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2
    2. Creative MediaSource Plugin for PlaysForSure devices
    3. Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer Web Update
Before installing connect the player to the PC. Then install 2 and 3 (the player must be connected for to verify you have a Creative product).

Ha ha ha! Sucess at last!
    I got it working now!
I was missing a step in the second suggestion (link posted by DM) to edit the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\U SB and add "EVERYONE." Plus I didn't reboot right away! I guess that would help too. Sorry forgot to do that.
THANK YOU! The support on this fourm is wonderful! Glad to see the help is here for Creative products.

  • ZEN MICRO detection problems / recognition problems 9

For the life of me I can't figure this out. My brother bought a Zen micro a few days ago and we tried to install it but the comp WILL detect the ZM but will not/can not find a driver. Thus "?!Creative Zen Micro" appears in the Device manager under "? Other Devices" but will not work. Have read and tried alot, but nothing. Using an old Celeron 900MHz with Windows 98SE. Did many fresh installs from install disk....but nothing. Even tried a diff USB cable (though longer) and diff USB port....but nothing. The comp detects the Zen Micro (as named above) but is unable to find the drivers eventhough when requested I direct the detection to the Install disk for any drivers it may contain. Any knowledge shared would be appreciated.Message Edited by microscan on 02-06-2006 06:40 AM

I tried those before but just for good measure I just now again tried them. Nothing has changed. Still detecting but not recognizing/no driver. I forgot to mention last time that even when I try to open the program "Creative System Information" (by clicking on "Start", "Programs", "Creative") I get "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down." When I click on details of this Ctsi problem window I get this:
    CTSI caused an invalid page fault inmodule CTSI.EXE at 067:0042d273.Registers:EAX=0c6804 CS=067 EIP=0042d273 EFLGS=000026EBX=7f832e2 SS=06f ESP=0e6fdd0 EBP=0e6fdd8ECX=00000005 DS=06f ESI=0c68000 FS=d7EDX=00000000 ES=06f EDI=0c67fa0 GS=0000Bytes at CS:EIP:f3 a5 ff 24 95 88 d3 42 00 8b c7 ba 03 00 00 00 Stack dump:0c67fd0 00000000 0e6fe4 0040fac5 0c67f70 0c67fd0 00000044 0040fa3a 0c67fd0 000000c 0c66d0 0e6fe40 0e6fe0 00000002 000000c 0c66d0

  • Problem installing Zen Micro on XP compu

    Hi,
I recently had a Firmware Problem on my Zen Micro and I was able to fix it by upgrading the Firmware to version 2.2.02.
After doing that my player works fine, but it won't install on my PC (Windows XP). I have tried installing and re-installing all the stuff that came on the original installation CD as well as downloading tons of stuff from creative.com. My guess is that the drivers or something might not?be compatible with my new firmware...
So my computer does detect the Zen Micro when I connect it and 'Found New Harware Wizard' starts. I choose "Install the software automatically" and click "Next". Then the Wizard searches and finds an MTP device (by the way what does MTP stand for?) and tries to install. Then I get this message:
    "Cannot Install this Hardware
There was a problem installing this hardware:
    MTP Device
An error occurred during the installation of the device
The specified service does not exist as an installed service."
What is the "specified service"? What's wrong and what should I do?
Oh,?My Zen Micro is shown in Device Manager, but with the yellow exclamation mark symbol.

    Thanks for your response.
It seems like I cannot download WMP since the Windows Genuine Validation won't work.. Says that I have a pirate copy of Windows although it definiti'vely is real... I guess I should contact Microsoft... This is getting ridiculous, or annoying at least...
Oh, maybe I should mention that I removed WMP from my computer since I was adviced to do so previously. But it should work with WMP0, right Well, can't reload that either because of the validation problem...
I tried downloading Creative Media Source Player/Organizer 5.0.38, but when trying to install I get the following message:
"Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system".

  • Zen Micro with PC connection Problems and no firmw

I'm running on Windows XP Service Pack 2 and I have Windows Media Player 0.
...and my Zen Micro wouldn't be detected, so I formatted it completely and I tried reloading the firmware. My old Zen Micro with v firmware still connects perfectly well, but Windows just doesn't detect my v2 firmware (now no firmware) Zen Micro.
    Advice, please?
    :edit:
Windows DOES detect my Zen Micro now...but I still can't do anything with it. It appears as MTP player connected:

    bkBlade,
Check this Knowledgebase article SID0053 and make sure the USB registry entry is correct. If you do make changes to the registry base on the Knowledgebase info, then try reloading the v2 firmware again.

  • [Zen Micro]Questions about the Firmw

    Hello,
I have some questions about the firmware of the Zen Micro
. Can I use the Zen Micro without any Software (MediaSource?) on my PC (winXP) when im using the Firmware Creative Zen Micro *PlaysForSure/MTP Firmware 2.00.2 ? This means that i copy my Music only by drag&drop from the Explorer after my Computer has detected the Zen Micro as a Removable Disk!
    2. I know that the Zen Micro has two parts with the Normal Firmware. The "Removable Disk" Part and the "Playable" Part which can only used by the Software! But what happens if my . question is right. How can i seperate this two parts?
    Thanks for answers

I don't have the 2.x firmware, but I think I'm correct in saying this :
with the 2.x firmware, your Micro becomes an MTP compatible device, which can be recognized on PCs having an MTP compatible OS (operating system). For the moment, the only OS that fits the bill to my knowledge, is Win XP with Windows Media Player 0. In this combination of MTP device + MTP OS, you don't need to install other drivers, and you can do drag and drop
BUT ! The 2.x firmware doesn't make your device a "removable disc" in the traditional sense of the word. It doesn't become a file system, like a USB memory stick.
I hope I was clear enough to see the difference :-)Message Edited by fred_be9300 on 04-03-2005 02:52 AM

  • Zen Micro not working prope

Hi - I'm sure my problem is not an unusual one and I am posting purely out of sheer desperation. I currently have a Creative Zen Micro 5GB.
For some reason, my PC is not detecting my Zen Micro. I even unplugged it from one USB port and connected it to another (I have 3) and nothing. I downloaded and installed the latest organizer and the plug-in as specified in the FAQ. Still nothing.
Under My Computer, my device shows. But when I open the Zen Micro Explorer, it says that my device is not connected to the computer. In the Organizer, I can't see my device either. I can sync from Windows Media Player (where my device shows) but doing that does not allow me to create playlists (unless it's some neat trick I don't know?).
I'm at my wits end and really on the verge of buying another MP3 player that is NOT Creative. I have only had this device since October and I started having firmware problems only 2 weeks after purchase.
Any help anyone can offer is greatly appreciated.
I am running Windows XP - and have uninstalled and re-installed the Creative software.
    Thanks!
    Marcy

Did you download the right plugin for MediaSource? What firmware version are you using?
If you're using the v.xx PDE firmware, make sure you have downloaded and installed the following:
. Creative Zen and Jukebox Driver Upgrade version .30.03
    2. Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2
    3. Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.20 for Creative MediaSource
    4. Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer Web Update
Install , then connect the player to the PC. Then install 2, 3 and 4 (the player must be connected for 2 to verify you have a Creative product).

  • HELP! Zen Micro 6GB Firmware prob

My first problem is that my Zen Micro has a firmware problem. After it shows the "Firmware Problem" message it goes to the recovery menu. I've tried "Clean Up" and "Format All" but I am still unable to use my Zen Micro. The second problem is that the firmware upgrading software won't recognize the Zen Micro. I can still sync music to my Zen with Windows Media Player but the program used to update the firmware will not recognize it. I'm running Microsoft Windows XP SP 2 on a Toshiba Satellite M40X. I've also tried updating the firmware on another desktop computer running Microsoft Windows XP SP 2 but it still will not recognize the Zen Micro. I've tried installing drivers yet the program still won't recognize my Zen Micro. Is there any other way to get the firmware onto my Zen Micro or am I out of luck?

Bump. I sent an e-mail to Creative and they were of no help. They told me to send it in and that I would have to pay for it. Is there any other way to install the firmware, or possibly better drivers that I could download other than the ones from Creative's website.

  • Zen Micro: Big Probl

I've searched for an answer to a simular problem but could not find one. I appologise if this has been answered already!
I've been unable to use my Zen Micro for nearly a month now, and I only had it a couple of weeks before. I tried to turn it on but it wouldn't. I took the battery out, trying turning it on and off.. then gave up. I thought it must just need charging so took it home and charged it up. Even with it plugged in it still would not turn on, I left it a couple of days and still no luck.
I was really annoyed and left it a week or so, thinking it might clear itself up. I tried turning it on later and managed to! But it only had the "Creative" word on the screen, it wouldn't even turn off now. It just stayed that way.
It's currently like that now, it stays on the Creative screen until it runs out of power, and when I recharged it just does the same. No joy. It can't possibly be a virus as I've only put a few CDs in there I've ripped myself, no downloaded songs. I'm going away soon and would reallly like it fixed for then.
Any ideas? I've had people look at it and they can not help. I have no repair shops near me (li've on an extremely isolated island) and the placed I purchased it (amazon.co.uk) will not let me return it as I've had it more than 30 days.
I'm using Windows XP, Windows Media Player 0 and Creative Media Source Organiser. I do not know the firmware, what is that exactly? If I know what I'm looking for I could find out I'm sure. I can't even run a disc clean-up since it stays on that same frozen Creative screen.
I hope I've uncluded enough in this post, I read the threads I was meant to. I've just completely ran out of ideas!

    nlamendo wrote:
This sounds like a very common problem, no matter what some people claim. Why is that?
Think about how you're judging this though, from seeing 5 or 0 posts on a support forum? When Creative have sold probably hundreds of thousands of players?! Also there's no way of gauging how many people have made it here who have this problem. Perhaps it's all, perhaps it's a fraction. So it's pointless trying to talk in absolutes.

  • Zen Micro connection problems with media explorer (my soluti

    Hi all,
just wanted to share you my sollution to the connection probs with my Zen Micro. I have installed the MTP version of the firmware and found out it did connected to my machien (media player sync works) however media explorer was not able to install properly (it could not detect the device during install).
I found out that if I closed Acti'vesync (so it is not using the USB probing) it could detect the Zen Micro during install and media explorer installed properly. After this it only detects the zen micro whenever Acti'vesync is not syncing with my PPC or smartphone.
So therefore my sollution to this problem. Make sure Acti'veSync is not connected with a device thorugh USB.

What is "Acti'veSync?" I have installed the firmware and NapsterToGo and WMP recognize my Zen Micro but Zen Explorer does not. Maybe this will work for me. I didn't install CreativeMediaSource.
