  • Unable to determine current location at this time Mavericks

    Hello,
I can't get location service running in Mavericks.
I know it worked before. But somehow it stopped working. It doesn't work with map neither.
    Thanks in advance.

Perhaps the 'network time server' for the region, that Apple uses, is down at this time(?)
Not sure how one would go about reporting an issue, to somewhere it would matter...
Try unchecking the box next to the automatic time zone location item & set it manually.
{Edit to add: I noticed you asked of this in an older thread, that had suggested this:
OS X Mavericks: Manage which apps can use Location Services
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14318
    And I looked into that link, but it does not explain your issue.}
The same item has occurred several times, as indicated by a few similar named topics
that come up on a search via google of those same words; here's the link to that:
    https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=mac+os+x+unable+to+determine+current+locati on+at+this+time
You may have to set the TimeZone manually and turn off the automatic location.
This has been an issue in some places (regional, etc) since OS X 10.6.8. but
I have no way of knowing if the cause may be the same or another behind it.
However such an outage (if it could be proven as such) would be difficult to work
around; short of testing the computer in a different Time Zone to see if that network
server was working. Then you could tell if the issue is in the Time Zone you wanted
to be using, and not in the computer itself. A matter of troubleshooting.
{Since these ASC discussion are generally and simply product users who volunteer &
try to answer some varying levels of questions, an inquiry here does not constitute a
contact with Apple, Inc, directly. So please keep that in mind should nobody know
    where to look (if possible) to discover an exact match to your issue.}
So, see if the clock and time zone work if you do not have the Automatic location set
and choose the location manually instead. I don't believe a reset of the System
Management Controller (SMC) or the NVRAM/PRAM may be of help; though these
do have some bearing on settings in the computer, for different purposes.

Hopefully you won't have to reset anything but the Date/Time panel in the Mac.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Unable to determine current location and time

So this bug has never been fixed (persists since SL)? I have the same in ML 10.8.3 with Location Services enabled...
    Anybody got this working?

I'm having the same problem.  I recently moved from Oregon to Michigan, i.e., new time zone.  I travel a lot and have never experienced not having the time zone adjust automatically. I'm running 10.8.4 on a 2009 macbook pro. I can't find any suggestions that seem to be working for everyone.
The weird thing is though, I've been in Michigan for 2 weeks now, and this is the first time I noticed that the time was 3 hours off----which makes me wonder if it HAS been working until today.  But I can't be sure.  Just seems weird that I didn't notice until now.

  • I'm unable to determine my location anymore ?!

i'm unable to determine my location anymore ?!

  • Apple Configurator: "Unable to determine current price of app"

I'm trying to import an free app to the Apple Configurator. Every time I attempt this I get the error message "Unable to determine current price of app."
I've tried creating a new Apple ID to download the app, swapping the Apple ID associated with Apple Configurator, different phones (I have 25 to deploy) and all with the same problem.
I can only find one other mention of this problem http://techrecess.com/2012/03/supervising-devices-with-apple-configurator/ and there's no solution. I'm hoping somebody else will ahve experienced this and found an answer.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I think you may have given me the solution. I'll ask the company to make the app available on the US store too and I'll see what happens then.
I might file a bug report or similar with Apple. It would be useful if the configurator checked via the store relevant to the country that the account is registered with. Partially defeats the point of setting an account in the configurator.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Ipod touch 5 unable to determine my location .

I am a ipod touch 5 user . It is unable to determine location ! I asked my ISP to allow location service but they told me that there is no such other service !!!! Now what to do ! I am unable to locate or share my location !!! I have a bsnl broadband connection for internet !!!!!

Is Location Services turned on in Settings>Privacy?
For location the iPod uses the location of nearby wifi routers that are in Apple's database. You do not have to be connected to the network/router to use that router's location. Thus, it appears that the iPod can't see a nearby router that is in Apple's database. Apple continuously updated their database based on info they obtain from iPhones. No one has been able to find a way to inform Apple of a router or correct is location.
You can confirm that by going to place with a know located router like Starbucks or McDonalds

  • Why are apps unable to determine my location?

A number of apps tell me they can not determine my location. I have location services turned on for these apps and an active wi fi connection. Why is this happening? How do I fix this problem?

I have tried many things to reset the iPad and the network. So far, the iPad still thinks it is in New York. What is strange is that my iPod touch recognizes the correct location (02420) and both devices are using the same home wi fi network. If this is a problem related to the node not being in the database, how do I add it. I do not have an iPhone.

  • Pkgadd: ERROR: unable to determine current run-state

    Hello,
I'm working with Solaris 10 5.10 sparc. I have successfully created a package with no difficulties. The package only consists of a bash script that is meant to update system files to enable remote logging and configure a server to accept eventlogs from windows platforms.
After putting together my package, I then try to use
pkgadd -d $PWD on the directory that contains my package. (/export/kelleyt6/kelleyt6_pkg)
The only hint to this error I've managed to find with Google searches is from a SebastianN from years ago:
From ages ago I remember a small bug which prevents pkgadd from determining the current run level, when the server has been up for a long time. iirc, the easiest way to get around it, would be to reboot and run pkgadd again. This is meant to run on a server, so rebooting isn't a very good option. I'm not even sure if rebooting it will help as this tidbit is the ONLY response I've seen to this error. Has anyone else encountered this before? Does anyone know how I might be able to add my package without having to restart core-servers???? I can also restart the zone...but I know that this solution is not preferable either. :-( Any ideas??

    Thank you abrante,
after some searching, I've found that several files on this server have been removed. /usr/lib/acct/fwtmp is one of them. Also, /etc/rc[456].d are missing, but I don't think that is the problem. I also notice that rc2.d and rc3.d are disabled. I'm going to have to re-enable those if I can(after its safe to "break" the machine again).
I know we have other packages that have been installed on the system.....so I'm trying to determine why MY package even cares what the run state is. Currently i'm going to re-read through pkgmk and see if there isn't something I can do that makes my package oblivious to run-state....then I'll see if pkgtrans can help.

  • IPad mini: unable to determine location.

Just got an iPad mini wifi 16 gig. LOVE IT! But for some reason it's unable to determine my location in ANY location based app (including apple maps). I've made sure that I have location services turned on. Any one have an idea of what the deal is?

I have heard this type of discussion before that something needs to be registered.  I have DSL and know somebody else that has DSL from the same provider.  He lives in a small town and I live rural.  His location services works on his iPad at his home and so does mine when I am at his location but not at my rural home location.  So I know it cannot be that the DSL provider network needs to be registered.  There is another issue - maybe still a registration but not just the provider.  Any ideas?  I really would like to get this figured out.  There are quite a few apps that try to determine my location and cannot.

  • "Maps" unable to determine location after installation of "iOS4" software..

With the previous version of ipod touch software, "Maps" had no problem determining my location when at home on my Wi-Fi. Now that I have installed the latest iOS4 software, Maps is completly unable to determine my location at home. Any ideas?

I posted this in another thread on location services and have modified it slightly here. I also believe (based on my own experiences) that wifi signal reception is not as good as it was pre-iOS 4.
I have been having the problem also. I have a possible explanation. Under iOS4 the atenna power seems to be reduced. How do I know? Because I can no longer connect in locations where I could under 3.1.3. I also see fewer networks in the list of detected networks. Furthermore, apple has disabled any apps which acted as wifi scanners. If these apps were still available, it would be easy to see the reduced range under the new OS. I also lose my connection at home more often (e.g. at the far end of the house, away from the router). I think that location services will work if you have more than one network is detected and/or one has to have a registered address. In more densely populated areas you used to have more networks detected, I used to be able to see networks from neighbors in my suburban when at home in my suburban neighborhood. Now, the number of detected networks is more limited. The result is poorer location determination. This is just my theory based on my observation of poorer network detection for my device and from what others have reported. Was this an unannounced way that Apple tried to limit battery drain?
Since Apple does not release details on "secret" changes in their OS, we are limited to guesswork and have virtually no hope of a meaningful response from them.

  • PB2 issue Bing Maps says 'Unable to determine your current location'

PB2 issue Bing Maps says 'Unable to determine your current location'.
    please help..

That happens if you are indoors and the App canot locate your GPS location.
You may have to take your PB outside for a minute or so so it can get a fix on your location.
Have you tried Google Maps or the MapApp from App World that also uses Google Maps?
They are much better than Bing Map.

  • Map is unable to show my current location

The map provided with the iMac (purchased in Nov-2013), is unable to show my current location. It is asking to turn the Wifi on and then failing to specify or if at all specifying, is not very clear to me. For that reason, getting direction to a place is also not working. Is there any wrong with my settings? Moreover, google map appears to me more varsatile and dynamic -- is it true? I am a newcomer to mac platform and hence these quaries.

Your iMac (well, any Mac) does not have a GPS. To determine location it matches the available WiFi SSIDs with a database of the base station locations. If the wireless access points that your iMac is receiving are not in the database, it deosn't know where it is.
This article talks primarily about iOS, but it is the same database that is used by OS X to locate you Mac.

Also, take a look at this thread. It doesn't appear there is positive confirmation that it works, but worth a try:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4370143?start=15&tstart=0
When Apple started this, I had submitted my router location to the SkyHook system which they were using, but everyone says they no longer use it.

  • Disturbing Results from "Determine Your Current Location"

Disturbing results when I used the "determine you current location" on the Maps app. The map brought up my home address from more than two years ago, when I lived over 600 miles from my current and actual location. *I did not give Apple this info.* Not only an error but too much "Big Brother" invasion of privacy for me.
Any one else experience similar results?

I did not give Apple this info.
    So?
The information didn't come from Apple; it came from Skyhook. See http://www.skyhookwireless.com/
At some point, someone - perhaps your old ISP - associated the router you are using with an address. If you are worried about privacy, a location 600 miles from where you actually live should be good news.
Stick with wired Internet and there will be no router transmitted signal to give you away.

  • My time/calendar can't determine location. Was fine before now says unable to determine location

I need some help in getting my clock/calendar to work again.  Was fine till recently then reverted back to 2000 with messed up time.  Tried to use set time automatically function but says unable to determine location.  Went to manually set time zone, date and time but the time now wanders off and does seem to properly keep time.  Anyone know what I can do to get the auto function to work again?

Hey Man I have the same problem, One day the screen just went black and from then onwards it has been reall problematic, I went to the apple store but they wanted about 100 bucks to have a look at it, although they did a diagnostic for free, but it didnt reval anything.
They said it was either the screen or the graphics card, and each one cost 750USD but 100USD to find out which........ I didnt fork out the cash though, a bit expensive!!!!!!!
However I did get the computer back up and running, by holding Opt on start up, mostly it goes to the f**king dark blue screen with the vertical lines. But every 10 to 15 goes I can get to the disk utility, If you run the repair disk and repair premonitions, then start up again it should boot up, you may get a day or two out of it before BOOM back the blue screen of vertical death.
I believe its the graphics thats busted, (which is soldered to the logicboard) so the only to fix it according to the apple guys is to get a new one at 750USD and about 2 weeks to get it done. here is a app called gfxCardStatus, and it tells you which card ur using (there is 2) when the card switches the computer crashes, you can set the app to only use the "Intrergrated card" but you cant watch movies or iweb, camera, just web browsing and text stuff....... the other HD card does all the other heaver graphic processing............
I hope this helps, but all in all, lots of people have had the same problem and Apple have not declared it a fault on there part, they boast about the quality of there products but in essence my last macbook died suddenly........ I invested in a macbookpro (early 2011) the graphics card is broke, the trackpad doesnt work properly and the screen has screenburn all over the edges and sides........... Seriously!!!! and the reply was buy another computer from the apple guys!!!!!! Pretty disappointed.
