Unable to disable auto sync with ihone 3gs

I am trying to turn off auto sync when I connect to Itunes. All the info I can find says to go to devices>phone>summary and disable it there but there is no option to disable it. can anyone help me? I am using the latest version of itunes.
Thanks!

iTunes includes a global option for this.
Go to iTunes > Preferences and under the Devices tab select "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically".

  • Can I disable auto-sync on Shuffel iTunes 7.3 Vista OS

It seems odd that everytime I make a change to a single song on my iPod, iTunes performs a sync.
For example, I want to uncheck several songs loaded on my shuffel, but iTunes performs a sync after each time I de-select a check-box.
Can I disable automatic syncing after each change to a song or podcast on my shuffel?
    Thanks

  • How do i set the iphone to auto sync with the mac book pro

how do i set the iphone to auto sync with the mac book pro?

    Iphone Sync Support wrote:
Thanks but this is not what I am looking for.  I am looking for the settings - setting that allows our iphone to auto sync with your mac book when you make a puchase on either device.
You aren't going to sync with my MacBook when I make a purchase.
And you are not going to autosync your iPod with the MacBook unless you tell it to sync or plug it in.
You can enable Automatic downloads when you make a purchase.
    iTunes settings > Store.
When you make a purchase, it will automatically download that purchase to devices set up the same way.
This is not the same as autosyncing your device to your computer (as you first asked).

  • Auto-sync with iTunes

Why would my iPhone stop wireless auto-syncing with iTunes when plugged into its charger?  It did auto-sync for a while, but does not any longer.  Manual wireless syncing is fine.

  • ITunes library and syncing with iPhone 3GS trouble

I have an iPhone 3GS. When I got to update to iOS 4.3 from the latest 4.2 update I either get am error saying that the file was corrupt or sometimes I get an error saying that my firmware is not compatible. Also, when I just try to sync to iTunes I get an unknown error saying that I cannot finish syncing with iTunes; which has caused my apps to not sync back to my phone and my photos as well. Last night after the latter error I just disconnected my phone and went to bed but I also discovered that my phone has a fraction of the apps that it did have on it. I did not get a chance to check if my apps has all synced back to iTunes at least. And another issue is that lately iTunes has been having issues with the library and keeps creating a damaged.xml. Help, please!!

try removing all the music and snycing it back to your iphone

  • ITunes 9.2 upgrade broken - No longer syncs with iPhone 3GS

I just installed the new iTunes 9.2 (and SL 10.6.4) through Software Update.
After rebooting, I find that iTunes 9.2 no longer syncs with my iPhone 3GS.
iTunes sees my iPhone, but opens the "Set up your iPhone" screen. It tells me:
An iPhone has been previously synced with this computer.
[] Set up as a new iPhone
[] Restore from the backup of [my iPhone 3GS]
This is a horrible bug - I do not wish to erase/restore my iPhone 3GS that synced just fine before the reboot, thankyouverymuch
I tried disconnecting and re-connecting my iPhone 3GS, to no avail...

This worked for me on a win7 machine - haven't tried it on my macbook pro machine:
Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) on Windows :
    1. Windows XP
    * Close iTunes and disconnect the iPhone or iPod touch.
    * Choose Start > Control Panel.
    * Inside the Control Panel, open Administrative Tools.
    * Open Services.
    * Select Apple Mobile Device and click Stop the service as shown below:
    * After the service is stopped, Click Start the service.
    * After the Apple Mobile Device service has started again, open iTunes and connect the device.
    2. Windows Vista
    * Close iTunes and disconnect the iPhone or iPod touch.
    * Click the Windows Start button
    * In the Start Search field type Services.
    * In the Programs section of the search results, Click "Services".
    * Select Apple Mobile Device and click Stop the service as shown below:
    * After the service is stopped, click Start the service.
    * After the Apple Mobile Device service has started again, open iTunes and connect the device.
If after restarting the Apple Mobile Device Service you encounters with same problem then reinstall AMD S. For reinstalling just uninstall the iTunes from control panel then navigate to C:/ >> Program Files >> iTunes Right-click the iTunes folder and select Delete and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Note: This folder may have already been deleted if iTunes was successfully removed. Now Restart your computer and Install the latest version of iTunes.
Reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) on Mac OS X :
    # In the Finder, locate iTunes in the Applications folder and drag it to the Trash.
    # Move the iTunes icon to the Trash
    # Choose Go > Go to Folder.
    # Enter /System/Library/Extensions and click Go.
    # Locate the file AppleMobileDevice.kext and drag it to the Trash.
    # Choose Go > Go to Folder.
    # Enter /Library/Receipts/ and click Go.
    # Locate the file AppleMobileDeviceSupport.pkg and drag it to the Trash. If prompted, authenticate with the admin password.
    # Choose Finder > Empty Trash and restart the computer.
    # Download and install the current version of iTunes www.apple.com/itunes/

  • My phone auto synced with my pc now all my vids are gone is there a way to retrieve them?

Hi I connected my phone to my pc to charge it and it auto synced I had videos on the phone of my sisters wedding is ere anyway to get these back once the sync has been completed. I attempted to load the backup created before the sync but it didn't changed anything. Please help as Hess videos are very importan to me

Photos/videos captured by the iPhone which are stored in the iPhone's Camera Roll are not touched or included with the iTunes sync process except for being included with the iPhone's backup.
If these were videos that were captured by your iPhone, they weren't removed from your iPhone's Camera Roll by syncing with iTunes alone, which is not possible.
What else was done besides syncing? Even if this could be done by syncing with iTunes alone, there is no setting under any of the various tabs for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes that has anything to do with or affects the Camera Roll.

  • Auto sync with shuffle?!?!

Hi I just got a new iPod shuffle because i was using a friends iPod nano and i loved the way i could sync with podcasts, i could automatically put the most recent i have not listened to.
However i cant seem to sync with the iPod shuffle in the same way. I thought it would just work in the same way with itunes.
Is there a way to sync with the shuffle in the same way or do i have to drag and drop the podcasts i want into it.
    thanks in advance

Yes it seem we can auto fill only music but not poscast. For podcast I have to add it manually to playlist

  • Need to disable auto sync

When I originally got itunes, I had it set to automatically sync when I connected my ipod. Now that I have an iphone, I do not want it to auto sync, but I can't find how to change that setting. How can I disable the auto sync in itunes for Windows (Vista)? Thanks.

Look under Edit --> Preferences and then look up at the top of that window - there are a number of choices (General, Playback, Sharing, etc.) - click on Devices and then look down about halfway down the page - there is a place you can click to "prevent ipods, iphones ipads from syncing automatically" - hope that works for you.

  • Auto-sync with iSync (feature request)

I have my phone with me all the time when I'm sitting down at my computer and for a while I was using e2sync with Entourage (which is a terrible program btw), and I often have thought about how nice it would be if iSync could be set to try to auto-sync on a certain interval.
Currently iSync can't even be left just running in the dock. It has to be running and open on the screen or minimized. You should be able to close its window and keep it running.
An auto-sync feature should allow you to pick which devices you would like to sync and on what interval. I.e. someone might want their PDA to sync ever hour/day and never have their phone auto-sync or vice-versa.
I looked at first hoping that their would be some app available on the internet that could solve this dillema for me, but I haven't been able to find anything. So please Apple, add this feature to iSync.
Some other features that would be nice:
    * Support for more devices
    * The ability to sync with sticky notes and possibly other software as well
    * More advanced features and choices of direction for syncing
    * Ability to set up automatic online backups to an FTP server/WebDAV server of choice
    * This would be very nice for mission critical applications
    * Would require some sort of auto-sync feature as well
    * Support syncing with another computer possibly (so that someone can have a PowerMac at home and then a PowerBook/iBook they leave connected to it that they can take certain stuff, selected by the user, with them. Settings as well).
Thank you, would love to hear what someone from Apple has to say.

Because Bluetooth mobile phones are battery powered and a sync would need a connection, this feature will never come. This was dropped by the Bluetooth specification and is not adopted by Apple consequently.
It is a "Bluetooth is not good at auto doing" thing. This answer is not helpful, however this is the reason.

  • 1 file in iTunes on Mac won't sync with iPhone 3GS

I have one big mp3 file (around 100 MB) that's in iTunes 9.2.1 on my Macbook that won't automatically sync with my iPhone 3GS (iOS4.1).
When I turn 'manage manually' on, I can drag this file to the iPhone and that does work.
But when I turn 'manage manually' off again, the next sync this file is removed again from my iPhone.
Any ideas how to solve this? I removed the file from iTunes and reloaded it back in, but no luck.

Thanks. I checked that already and the weird thing is, that is says 'Music' there, but in list view in iTunes it's ranked under 'Podcast' (in the Artist column). When I imported the file in iTunes, it was correctly categorized under the right artistname (not in 'Podcast'), but after syncing with my iPhone it was suddenly categorized as a podcast.
    Weird...

  • Disabling Auto Restore with TextEdit

I have a brand new MacBook Pro with Lion 10.7.2 on it.  I don't like the "restore windows when quitting and reopening apps" option in the General preferences, so I've unchecked that.  This works for most apps, but not TextEdit.
For some reason, TextEdit refuses to honor the general preference, and if I quit TextEdit with a file open, it reopens that file the next time I launch TextEdit.  I don't like this behavior -- I want it to work like it did in Snow Leopard.
I've downloaded a third-party control panel called RestoreMeNot which is supposed to let you pick apps to disable this function with. But it says it can't disable TextEdit.
What's going on?  And how do I prevent TextEdit from restoring windows the next time it launches?
    Thanks in advance.

It appears that none of the information in any of the above responses to the original poster offer any resolution to this problem. When responding to a question, it would be VERY helpful to actually test the response rather than just posting blind speculation. Otherwise this forum becomes no more useful than using Yahoo! Answers as an online substitute for professional medical advice.
I've made two calls to AppleCare in attempts to resolve this, and after speaking with an upper tier support rep, we determined there currently is no solution: Auto-resume with TextEdit is absolutely unavoidable, and closing windows must be done manually, one at a time. I use TextEdit for a variety of reasons, and I use it a lot - so it's very easy for me to have dozens - if not 150+ - TextEdit windows open at any given time, and being forced to close each of those individually, each time selecting "Don't Save," is ridiculous. If TextEdit must by default use auto-resume without the option of turning it off - which frankly is fine with me - Apple's OS X team MUST implement a way to kill all open documents if the user chooses to do so.
You know, something along the lines of "Permanently close all open documents - Warning, all unsaved changes will be lost."
(A similarly aggravating issue existed with Preview - but at least there's a wonky workaround that actually worked... as opposed to the wonky workarounds suggested for the problem with TextEdit.)
