Unable to disable find my ipad states unable to deregister w/iCloud

Hello,
Am attempting to refresh ipad air. Have saved previous data to both computer/icloud. Attempt to disable "find my ipad". Will not disable.
password is correct. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Are you absolutely certain that you are entering the password correctly and by that I mean are you using upper and lower case letters exactly like they are in your password? Have you tried signing out in Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Try signing out, restart your iPad and then go back and sign in again.

  • Can I disable Find My iPad on iCloud using another device?

The swipe function on my iPad2 is not working, I have held down the Sleep and Home button down, got the Apple logo etc but still can not get swipe function to work. I have tried to restore iPad from back-up through iTunes but this failed too as I am told I first have to disable "Find My IPad" on iCloud before I can restore the iPad. Makes sense from a security point of view, but if I can not get into my iPad how do I go about disabling Find my iPad? Thanks in advance for any help.

You can access iCloud.com on a computer to turn it off.

  • My IPad will not respond to my pass code after I updated.  iTunes says 'disable find my ipad'  before I can restore from backup.

My IPad will not respond to my pass code after I updated from ITunes.  ITunes says I must disable ''find my ipad'' in order to restore. I cannot get to that because my pass code is locked.
I only have one back up & that is the one I did when I updated.  (Can't remember if it was before or after)

iTunes wants you to disable find my iPad because Apple wants to make sure you are not trying to restore someone else's iPad.
To turn off find my iPad, you need to enter your Apple ID password.

  • IPad disabled, find my ipad offline - why?

My son managed to set a passcode on his restricted ipad and then forgot what it was, after 6 attempts the ipad is disabled as it should be. This happened at school. When he brought it home for me to fix, it wouldnt connect to the home wifi so therefore the find my ipad wouldnt work - why is this? I left it at home for hours and tried to locate it using find my ipad many times but it wouldnt locate. On the disabled ipad screen I could see there was no wifi connection, but all of the other devices in the house were connected to wifi no problem.
Just wondering if this is because of any restrictions set? (find my ipad is enabled, location services is enabled but both restricted from being turned off)
    Thanks in advance,
    Barry

Thank you!  I had not uncovered the hold and plugin bit yet.  Now if only they wouldn't force me to update the operating system, not sure my older tech can handle more updates... wish I could just keep it back in time when it wasn't so sluggish.  I the upgrades insure compatibility but at this point with this old girl I'd be happy if she was simple and ran smoothly.  I don't need her to do a lot.
Also I meant to click "solved my problem" but goofed, is there a way to switch once clicked? New to apple communities.

  • HT201320 I changed my hotmail password and am unable to set up on iPad. 'Unable to verify account info' error. I've deleted and added and tried as a hotmail and exchange acct. help!!!

Tried using exchange identifying server as m.hotmail.com.  What is username in domain?  Assume my email username
This is getting frustrating. Please help!

I'm sorry. I think the only other thing I can suggest is to poke around microsoft's support pages. You stand a better chance there of finding a hotmail owner trying to access it on an iPad than finding a hotmail owner here.
I know i got a mail from them today about the changing of Skydrive to something else, so it's possible that their mucking about could be affecting things. I know when Yahoo was 'improving' their servers they'd cause random outages.

  • How to disable 'find my upad' using icloud?

MY ipad Air died today. Second one in tbree months. I had my cloud email open and was deleting some, when the screen froze and went black. Clicking on the top button did nothing, and I tried connecting it to itunes on my mac, but device wasn't recognized(or even notuced) by itunes. Completely dead.  I have learned that unless you are able to disable 'find my ipad' Apple is unable to service it. Frustrating because IT'S DEAD! Rep at Apple store told me to use icloud to disable it by gping to icloud.com, signing in and selecting device to disable. I attempted to do just that and every time I pull up the page on my iphone or my macbook, i keep landing on the 'set up this device for iCloud' page. I'm already using icloud and cant figure out how to get around that page, and now I'm confused and concerned that because I can't disable the 'find my' bit, I'm going to be stuck with a three month old useless device. Did I say that this is the second one to do this. First one died a week after purchase. Even though we opted out on the replacenet plan, they did give us a new one that time.

The short answer is, you don't.
If you can't reset it on-line, you'll have to call Apple and speak to someone in account security to prove your identity.

  • Regarding "Find My iPad"/iCloud

Regarding "Find My iPad" , when setting up a second iCloud account, it gives me the option on or off , so do I choose "on" for iCloud or "on" on the general setting?  It wont let me turn it on for both.

Back now.  Are you saying that you entered you iCloud ID and password in the Find My iPhone app (see photo below), and it said you don't have an iCloud account?  Are you sure this is the ID for your iCloud account (check Settings>iCloud next to Account at the top on the device you are trying to track)?
Also, did you try using this ID and password on icloud.com on your computer to try to track it, as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmfc0f2442?  Did that work?

  • HT204053 can i sign up for icloud find my ipad after it has been taken

I have lost or my ipad2 has been taken.  How do I locate it if I have my apple id and password but didnt load the app prior to it being taken.

You can go into Settings, choose General (on the left side), then choose Software Update on the right side. This should tell you which iOS (operating system) you are presently using.  No doubt it will tell you there is an update.
You will need to connect your iPad to your computer and update it through iTunes to the latest iOS, which is iOS6.  Once your iPad is connected via the cable to your computer, launch iTunes. The iPad will appear in the bar on the left, click on it and you will be able to see the General Information about the iPad.  You will likely get a pop-up window notifying you there is a new iOS as soon as iTunes recognizes your iPad. Then iTunes will ask if you want to download and update to the new iOS. Do that. It will take probably 20-30 minutes depending on your computer and your iPad.  After the update has finished, you will need to enable iCloud which will allow you to use the Find my iPad app. Please read about iCloud from the Apple Support Site BEFORE you enable it at http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/  Good luck.

  • Find my ipad not showing up on iCloud

Find My iPad is not showing up on iCloud, nor is Find My Mac.  Find my iPhone is working beautifully.  I have checked all the settings on each device, and that all are with the same AppleID.  I did originally have the iPhone and the iPad with different IDs.
I'd appreciate any advice how to get this fixed.  Not the only problem I have with iCloud, but this would be a start.
    Cheers

I, too was confused about this. I signed into my iCloud account, and I see the icon for "Find my iPhone", but no icon for "Find my iPad".  Apparently, when I go into "Find my iPhone", there is a sub-area where it lists my devices - it defaults to "All Devices" at the top is designated, but then, I can click on the "Devices" Radio button located at the top left corner, and it will list my iPhone and my iPad separately.  I can then click on my iPad there. See if this doesn't resolve your problem. Apple made this interface confusing by allowing one icon in iCloud to represent all your devices, whether an iPad, iPod, or iPhone. Hope this helps!

  • HT5622 I have followed the instructions to reset my password but i am still unable to disable my iPad. How do I disable my iPad?

I have followed the instructions to reset my password but i am still unable to disable my iPad.  How do i get my iPad to stop the disable and turn it on?

Might you have a newly acquired iPad that is still locked to someone else's Apple ID?  If that is the case, then you will need the former owner's Apple ID and password to proceed.  That feature is called Activation Lock and described here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH13695
If you cannot get that former owner's Apple ID and password, you will never be able to use the iPad.

  • On my ipad mini, I am unable to disable safe search?

  • I forgot my iPad password and I have tried to restore it but I am unable to because it says it is unable to because i'm connected to Find My iPad!

I forgot my iPad password and I have tried to restore it but I am unable to because it says it is unable to because i'm connected to Find My iPad! I need to get onto my iPad because for some assignments I use my iPad. I want to preferably factory reset it.

Try and force iPad into Recovery Mode:
    1. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
    2. Connect USB cable to computer, leave the other end alone
    3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
    5. Release the Home button
    6. Open iTune
    7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
    8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad
