Unable to do update ios software on ipad 2 even with enough storage

unable to do a software update on ipad 2 .. there is enough storage total 15gb with 12.6 available... what's up ?

You might be confusing storage on your iPad with storage for your iCloud backup. You cannot purchase more storage for your iPad. That storage cannot be increased. You can purchase additional storage in iCloud for backups but that has no impact on how much storage is in your iPad.
You have two options. One is to delete enough content from your iPad to open enough storage for the update. Copy it to your computer. Apps can be downloaded again later.
The second option is to try and update while connecting the iPad to your computer running iTunes 11.1 or later. The update file will be downloaded to your computer and the update will not require as much free space on your iPad.

The option to update without the computer (Over the air) was made available with iOS 5. If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.

Not very helpful but I have the same issue. Plugging in and doing the update via. iTunes will probably work but I find that whole experience annoying (downloading apps not on the Mac, etc..)

  • HT201263 None of the above have worked. Ipad completely bricked. This began when merely updating IOS software as instructed. Now Apple want to charge me for using their crappy software as directed. Surely this is not only immoral but potentially illegal.

    Read: iPad Troubleshooting Assistant
That procedure eventually leads you to the need to restore it.
Make sure you are following the instructions in this procedure to the letter. Here they are, with emphasis on some easily overlooked requirements:
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPad, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release only the Sleep/Wake button.
Continue pressing and holding the Home button while you reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.Note: If you see the "low battery" screen, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears (iTunes icon and USB connector) release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the "recovery mode" alert ("iTunes has detected a phone in recovery mode").
Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you do not see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. Be patient since it sometimes takes several of these attempts before you are successful.
If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
Select the iPad in iTunes and choose "restore from backup". This assumes you have a backup. If you do not, you will have to download all your purchased iTunes content again. You do not have to pay for anything you already purchased.
If you still can't get it to work, you have done all you can and only Apple will be able to help.

  • Unable to verify update ios 8.0.1

my ipad can not verify with a message Unable to verify update.
ios 8.0.1 failed verification because you are no longer connected to the internet.
How can I fix this while internet is on, even I change to cellular data.

Here's a screenshot of my iPad's "Unable to Verify Update" error message.  Note above that, my status (below "iOS 8.0.1, Apple, Inc."  says, "Downloaded".
I'm wondering if anyone else who's getting the "Unable to Verify Update...because you are no longer connected to the Internet" has anything different that "Downloaded" status.
I'm also wondering if the bogus "no longer connected to Internet" was a stopgap measure by Apple to protect those who had downloaded, but not yet installed 8.0.1 from actually installing it.  If true, in the future, I'd like to see a more truthful error message, as my Internet connection was fine, as everyone else's who's posted.  Some message like, "the iOS 8.0.1 Update has been pulled. When a newer version is available, the App Store app will notify you in the Updates tab"  would be more Apple-esque.

Updated iOS on my iPad 2 and lost FaceTime.  No icon, nothing in a search, nothing in settings.  What should I do to get it back?

First I would try a soft reset by holding the Home Button and the Wake/Sleep button until the apple logo appears.
That often works when things go crazy.
    or
Assuming you backed up your iPad just before updating, you could always restore to the previous state it was in.
