'Unable to download application' message on iPhone 4

I have an iPhone 4, 16 GB running iOS 5.0.1, so I was trying to update my applications and I keep on getting this message 'Unable to download application', '<application> could not be installed this time. I also tried updating using the computer but nothing happened.
The applications ended up like this: http://instagr.am/p/LCoQkEjc1d/ and if you tap it the message will appear again. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks.

Hi...
Try "resetting" ...
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
Try downloading apps.

Hi all. Did anyone encounter this problem on iPhone 5?
I wanted to download applications on my phone but everytime it
Pop up the message 'Unable to download application'
    Pls help. Thanks

Your issue is probably one of three discrepancies:
Your internet connection is either too slow or too weak or both.  Or you're trying to download a very large application over cellular connection.
Your Apple ID is having issues, such as having your credit validated, identity validated, or similar.
You are trying to download more than one application at a time.  If this is happening, pause all of them, then download one at a time.

  • My iPhone3GS running iOS5 has recently been reluctant to upgrade Apps. The App store asks for my password and then marks all the Apps as being updated. Often only one or none actually update. Usually I get a message saying "Unable to download application"

My iPhone3GS running iOS5 has recently been reluctant to upgrade Apps. The App store asks for my password and then marks all the Apps as being updated. Often only one or none actually update. Usually I get a message saying "Unable to download application" and "<app> could not be downloaded at this time - Done or Retry".
It's not an iTunes login / password issue because sometimes one or two of the Apps will download and the others stall with the blank progress bar. The internet connection is working fine in all other respects.
Sometimes, many restarts later the downloads will complete. Is this a known bug? Is Apple working on it? Any fixes?

  • HT4528 I've purchased a few dozen songs from itunes on my iphone. A few of these songs will not download properly and I keep getting a "unable to download song" message. My account info is correct and full signal.

I've purchased a few dozen songs from itunes on my iphone. A few of these songs will not download properly and I keep getting a "unable to download song" message. My account info is correct and full signal. It seems to continually keep trying to download but cannot. Please help!

i do understand that.  if you purchased the music on the phone.  its still available to you.  if you go in itunes on your computer.  go to purchases.  there should be all the music you have purchased.  there you can download the song if it isn't already and then sync it to your phone which will add the song to the phone.  have you tried to power off phone and then try to download again.   the itunes way is just another option.

  • Since Nov 14 I haven't been able to access iBooks. I get the message "unable to download application. iBooks cannot be downloaded at this time "

Since Nov 14 I havent been able to access iBooks. I get a window saying "unable to download application. iBooks cannot be downloaded at this time" . I have powered off and on countless times but it just won't open. Any suggestions please?

Demo, I tried this but I still get the same message.
When I look at the iBooks app on the iPad screen the slider at the bottom is permanently visible as if it is about to download. When I tap the app to start downloading "waiting" appears underneath for about one second then it disappears and the above message window pops up.
So for the last month I have not been able to read any of the 3 books I recently downloaded. I haven't been able to do much about it as I have been travelling from the UK to Asia (the long way) so Apple stores haven't been on my route. I had hoped to read the books while travelling on various flights but it's been very frustrating not being able to do so.
Thanks for your suggestion. Do you think it could have something to do with my iPad being an older version - MB294B (5.1.1 9B206)? Maybe it's telling me I need to buy a new one.
PS. Exactly the same thing is happening with another of my apps. It is for an online store in the UK which I won't be using again for some time so I'm not too bothered about that one.

  • Problem with downloading apps. "Unable to download application" error.Help please!

I'm having a major issue with updating or downloading apps. They won't download! I try to download an app, it's says "waiting", then it looks like it's about to download. Then, suddenly, the "loading"  bar gets halway filled, then it goes back to saying "waiting". This cycles about three or so times and then I get this message: "Unable to download application. Could not be downloaded at this time" with choices to be "done" or "retry".
I have tried EVERYTHING to fix this. I tried pausing the download and restarting, I tried soft and hard resets, I tried signing out and back into the App Store, I tried resetting my settings, I tried restoring the phone as a new iPhone, nothing works! I am at my wits end! I have an appointment at the Genius bar tomorrow, but I'm hoping someone here can help me so I won't have to keep that appointment.  I've tried searching for my problem in the forums but none of the results are like mine. Could someone please help?
EDIT: I also tried checking the iTunes queue. No purchases are stuck in the queue.

Just wanted to update, since I can no longer edit my original post. I tried disabling bluetooth. That didn't do any good, either.

'Unable to download application' error message appears when I try to update most of my apps on my iphone.  Then that app freezes and is unusable indefinitely.  This started happening about a week ago.
I've synced it with my itunes, no change. Reset, no change. Restart, no change. Help!!!!!!

Temporarily disable or turn off your Firewall and Anti-Virus software and try the download again.

  • Unable to download application from app store

I had been using iPhone for couple years now. With my new iPhone 5, I am now experiencing an issue with the App Store applications. This is the first time it happen to me.
Issue: when I try to download apps from App Store, iPhone will have a pop up message saying "unable to download application" with popup buttons of "done" or "retry". I did some research and sadly I am not the first person with this issue. So I had tried other solutions from older posts ( like hard reset, change time, login logout, etc...) and I'm not getting anywhere.
Question: Does anyone out there has a solid answer for this issue?
    Thanks.

Is there a debit card associated with your iTunes account - debit cards
are no longer accepted for payment.
Is there an outstanding balance due on your account? You must resolve
that before downloading anything, even free apps.

  • TS3297 unable to download application

I try to update apps but get message "unable to download application"

For UK Virgin customers. Problems with your Super Hub could be causing issues with your IPhone/IPadMacbook. Are you getting "Unable to download application" or errors associated with a download. If so, it is an issue with your Modem/Router. This problem may be effecting other users in different countries who use an ISP with a faulty system. In tech speak it seems to be an issue with NAT acceleration.  Full article in the link below.
    http://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2012/10/virgin-media-uk-to-deploy-r37-superhub-update-to-fix-corrupt-downloads.html
Cable ISP Virgin Media UK has begun preparing the finalR37 Firmware update for their traumatised SuperHub(NetGear) wireless router / modem kit, which claims to fix the notorious corrupt downloads bug on their superfast broadband service. Not to mention a few problems withwifi and unexpected rebooting.
The SuperHub, which is now roughly two years old, seems to have experienced no end of problems since its introduction. Slow speeds, unstable wifi connectivity, random rebooting and most recently the corrupted downloads bug (seemingly introduced with the R36 firmware in July 2012) have all plagued the device at one time or another.
Thankfully Virgin Media, which said last month that it had been “working at the highest priority to develop new firmware to help address the issues reported by some of our customers“, now claims to have received “positive feedback” about NetGear’slatest R36T13 test update, which alongside a few extra fixes looks set to become the official “R37 production build firmware“.

  • Unable to download application app will be available for download when you log into the itues store on your computer

    My Ipad 2 keeps asking:-
"unable to download application 'app' will be available for download when you log into the itunes store on your computer"
If i connect it to the computer it is fine for around a week then it starts asking to be connected again, Is their any reason for this? as it is very annoying espicailly when access to a pc is difficult

There is a 20mb file size limit over 3G.
If you can connect via wifi, there is no file size limit.
If that is not what you mean, I have no idea-never heard of or seen a message like you describe.

I AM LOGGED IN !!! What should I do?  I have restated both the Ipad and the computer and retried many times.

Are you trying to download Pages via the iTunes App Store on your computer or on the iPad ? The message means that you need to download it on your computer, and you can then sync it to your iPad
