Hello everyone can you help. I am trying to download a file from audible but download will not start.imacG5 OSX10.4.3 iTunes 6. File in question is an audiobook 101MB in ipod format

Hi iBod
Quick update. Have managed to secure two downloads so far. Cleared cookies, emptied cache. Power down. Restart, load safari and try again and again and again. Just lucky to be successful on 3rd try. Hardly ideal but usable for now. I'll keep waiting for safari update.

Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
      1. See Lion/Mountain Lion/Mavericks' Storage Display.
      2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
      3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
      4. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
      5. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
      6. See The Storage Display.
You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.

  • I installed iOS 5 on my iPad and unable to  Download from iTunes store

I installed iOS 5 on my iPad and unable to  Download from iTunes store

Hi all...I just got a solution to the problem. It's foolproof. Connect your iPad to your PC and re-install iOS 6. In case you would like to know how - Click on iPad in iTunes and then click on restore button. Then just follow the steps from there on. It worked for me. I know this is a "not-the-desired" solution, but it will fix your problem. For me it solved another problem - I had noticed a deterioration in speed when I had originally upgraded from 5 to 6. After doing this re-install, I can confirm, there is a noticeable difference in speed...across the board, including Siri responses. Thanks and best of luck.

  • TS1398 iPhone unable to download from Apps Store

iPhone unable to download from Apps Store using Verizon mobile hot spot or Barnes & Nobel Wi Fi, otherwise connections work fine

App Store must have been overloaded on holiday weekend because it's working (downloading apps) no problem after 10:30 pm.  If I had known, I wouldn't have wasted several hours trying to figure it out.

  • Unable to download from AppStore, updates, etc.Messages 'the installer is damaged' to 'there might be a problem with file ownership and permissions.' I am the owner and only user of a new MBP. What could be going on?

Is anyone having the same type of problems I'm having with Lion. I have a new MacBook Pro, received 7 weeks ago, preinstalled with Leopard 10.6.7. I didn't migrate anything from my old iMac, wanted a clean install from the Apple Store. While there, I asked for the upgrade to Lion 10.7, however their system was down.
I  installed it myself, wirelessly about a week later, and Apple emailed me a receipt. Now, I've had to call support directly last week when I lost Mail, Address Book, was unable to open Preview or iTunes, among other problems. Seemed fixed after a session that baffled even the store tech.  Now I am unable to download or install the recent Mac updates for Lion, from the App Store, could not install Adobe Reader, etc. Messages range from 'A network error has occured - Check your Internet connection and try again' to 'The Installer is damaged and cannot open the package. There may be a problem with file ownership or permissions.'  All fail and I'll probably have to call Apple again. I am frustrated beyond words.  Logs 'Install's runner tool is not properly configured as a setuid tool', domain errors, 'attempt to write a readonly database, and on and on. I have barely done a thing on this computer except search online for help with these problems. Safari gives me a 'You are not connected to the internet' too often. Diagnostics disagrees. I do see wi-fi problems in the forum. Disk and permissions were fine at the beginning of the earlier problems, checked first by support tech. I'm not sure if support tech even knew. I was just happy they were fixed. Anyone have these download and/or install problems after a 'clean bill of health' so to speak, only a week ago?

Let's try the following user tip with that one:

  • IPAD 2 - unable to download from app store

    HI All,
i am unable to download any free application from app store , error:- could not sign in unknown error, i have tried shutting down the i pad , upgrading to os 6, resetting the password but still the same error, please guide me how can i resolve this

Make sure that you do not have a download in iTunes that did not complete - a song, a podcast - that can stall the apps from downloading and you will get the "waiting" message. Look in iTunes and if that's the case - finish those downloads first.
I copied this from OSX Daily's site a couple of days ago.
If you’re trying to install a handful of iOS apps and your entire home screen is filled with app icons labeled “Waiting…” without any of the progress bars moving, downloading, or installing, you can fix this fairly easily with the two methods below. Try the first method before going nuclear with a reboot though:
Tap a single app icon so that it says “Paused” and then tap that app icon again to see if it resumes downloading
If pausing and resuming didn’t work: Reboot the iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch
You may notice a related issue where apps from the App Store will say they’re “Installing” though they aren’t appearing on the iOS home screen yet, that is also resolved with a reboot.
It’s not totally clear what causes this, though it seems that a lot of people are encountering the problem right now when moving from an old iPad to a new one. It could be that Apple’s servers are just overloaded with downloads from the App Store, or it could be a bug.
You can also try signing out of your account, restart the iPad sign in and then try again. Sometimes that helps.

  • Windows .V2 profiles unable to download from a Mac Server

    Hi
We've recently upgraded our file servers from 10.7.5 to 10.8.2 due to some issues with SMBX and inactive memory. While the inactive memory seems for the most part to have resoved it's self. We're still having problems with SMBX.
I have a feeling all our problems are connected somehow, but I can't figure out what it it is.
I'll start with our most urgent issue
We have a file server that hold's all our Student home folders and Windows profiles. When a WIN7 user goes to login it's been taking an age, the problem is that for some reason the WIN7 machine is unable to download that users profile and logs them in with a temporary one. When you look at the in Event Viewer the following message show's up:
I've checked the permission's and the network and they seem fine to me, infact once logged in with the temporary profile, I can connect to the profile share, create a folder and browse the users profile!
The console logs for smbd on the server only tell me when people are connecting to thier home folders.
Our next issue is when we craete an Active Directory user (from our domain admin accounts), fill in the path for the home folder, once apply is pressed we get the following message:
The home folder cannot be created because: The request is not supported
If you click ok on that message it then goes back to the account, if you press apply again it say's that the folder is already there and would I like to set the permissions? Great I say, until I check the permissions and they're all correct other than the user isnt in the permissions at all!
Our third issue is that windows users (including domain admins) are unable to see the permissions on a file or folder, located on our Mac file servers. Not so much of an issue more of an annoyance.
Any help would be greatly appricateted!
    Thanks, Paul

Some of the troubleshooting we have done are as follows:
Checked DNS - our backup network was also registering in DNS so I ran dsconfigad -restrictDDNS "bond0" so that our connection the domain only registered in DNS and stoped the backup network's IP address from registering.
Moved a student's profile from the Mac server to a Windows server (changed path in AD) - User could login with their moved profile.
Deleted and re-created the profile shares.
Checked the permissions are correct and the same as the windows counter part that does work.

  • Digital editions audiobook-unable to download from local library. e-book ok

Help-we are unable to download audiobooks from our local library to digital editions after installing a new modem. Modem checks out ok, and we can download ebooks. No error messages.
    Thanks, DA

    Thanks for the reply
No, I had not tried to download a audiobook previously. I guess I assumed digital editions would allow me to download audio books also.
This started when I acquired a older ipod [wide plug type] and wanted to download an audio book to digital editions-then to the ipod.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks  DA

  • I have Madonna music application but I can,t download  songs cos I have message unable to download from web site 5. Please tell  me how I download  song

When I want to download a song from Madonna music application that I have it  there is a message :unable to download song from web site 5 so please tell me how I download  songs and thanks in advance

Are you able to connect to other Internet services, such as email, web sites, etc? Has downloading music from the app ever worked for you? If so, then the problem may be with the servers supporting that app. I'd suggest just waiting a few hours or perhaps until tomorrow and see if the problem clears up. If not, the "support" for that app is unhelpful so I can only offer generic suggestions, but you can try restarting your iPad and if that doesn't help removing and reinstalling the app.
    Regards.

  • I am unable to download from store, saying iphone not compatible

I have bought an iphone 3,  I am unable to download apps due to a messages saying iphone not compatible.  I dont have a clue why this is not working.
    Anyone any suggestions?
    Stephen

This is probably an indication that the app you are trying to download will not be supported by the iOS of your device. The iPhone 3G only supports up to iOS 4.2.1. That is the last iOS that it will support. Most apps in the store now require iOS 5 or above, many requiring 6 or above. There isn't anything that you can do about that. Always take the time to see what iOS is required before attempting to download an app.

  • Iphone unable to download from the appstore

    Hi everyone,
I have an activated iphone 3G with firmware 3.1.3.
Whenever i am in the appstore and try to download a simple app (compatible with my firmware) it doesn't download.
when I press the "free" icon, it changes into the "download" -icon. If I then press the download icon it returns to the free icon. This happens all the time, with different applications.
Also I am unable to remove an installed application (installed via itunes) on my iphone. The icon starts shaking, however when I touch the "X" it doesn't respond..
I have reset my iphone and it still doesn't work.
    Does anybody have an idea?

If you've tried an iPhone reset, and no change, the next step is to restore from your most recent backup, followed by syncing your content back to your phone. If no change after restoring from backup, the next step is to restore as a new device in iTunes, followed by syncing your content back to your phone.
