Unable to download iOS 7

I have an iPhone 4S and been trying to update to the new iOS7 both in iTunes (the new one they released) and on my iPhone. For both, it would show 22hours remaining and would slowly change to 2hours or 1 hour. But then it would provide an error “Error Software Update Failed” Tried it many times already and still same error. I know that there were a few people having this problem because of the servers and all but it’s been 4 or 5 days already, their servers should be okay now right? Is it because of the Internet connection? Or are there still issues updating to iOS7?

If you are using Windows, switch anti-virus and firewall OFF and try again.

Can someone please help?

You have to have an internet connection, either wireless or through a computer with iTunes. When you choose Software Update you can only update to the latest version for your iPod Touch, iOS 6.1.6

Where are you trying to download it from? It is certainly available - it is the current iOS.

You are correct-there are no more IOS updates for 1st Gen iPads.
5.1.1 is the latest firmware for your iPad.

Is there a way to get the Apple Configurator to try to re-download iOS 8?

Apple Support had me delete the image file from the following location:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.configurator/Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.confi gurator/firmware/
The file name was iPad3,4_8.0_12A365_Restore.ipsw
I deleted this file and ran the prepare again and it download the iOS 8 ok and successfully prepared the iPad.

You cannot buy more storage for an iPad. At least not the storage needed for an iOS update. If you tried to update and a message popped up saying you didn't have enough free space or storage on your iPad for the update you have to remove enough stuff on your iPad to provide that space. The update requires plenty of free space to install but when it is done much of that space is freed up again so you can put some of your stuff back on the iPad if you desire.
The additional storage you purchased is iCloud storage which is used for back up of your iPad.
Another alternative is to back up your iPad while connected to iTunes on your computer. When you do this the installation file is downloaded to the computer and extracted there. This method requires much less space on your iPad to complete the update.

Error in Apple Configurator - Unable to Download iOS 7.1.2. The firmware image was corrupted.

The initial update of some iPads failed while preparing them in Apple Configurator. Now this message, Unable to Download iOS 7.1.2. The firmware image was corrupted, appears every time I try to prepare using the Configurator. Can the corrupted firmware image be deleted or is there away around the error?

It should be located here:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.configurator/Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.config urator/Firmware/
Try deleting the ipsw from here and re-download it.

Temporarily disable/turn off your firewall and anti-virus software and try the download again.

If updating via iTunes on OS X or Windows fails, then try a reset by backing up your device to iTunes on OS X or Windows, resetting the device, and reloading iOS and restore your backup, and should that reset fail then try recovery mode.

hi, this is the first time I've posted so let me know if I'm missing anything Please...
when i I try to download iOS 8.0.2 I tap agree to terms and conditions and nothing happens, I then can't even press disagree so I have to just close that page manually or I can't get out of it. I see that other people have had this problem, I have tried two suggestions in the forum; turning off and on again, and, resetting all settings, neither worked. I contacted the apple support online but they wanted me to purchase the support (I don't want to pay when their product won't download their update) so I'm hoping someone can help me here please.

Unable to download iOS updates

I'm having issues with downloading iOS updates through iTunes. I tried downloading iOS 4.3 and recently 4.3.1 but no luck with either. Every single time I download an update through iTunes I get an error once the file has reached 100%. The error that I get is:
"There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone. The network connection timed out."
I also get an error code beside the update in iTunes. The error code is 3259.
I spent a lot of time on Google trying to find a solution but nothing. It seems like the common issue is that a virus scanner or firewall is preventing the file from being properly processed. I don't have a firewall or anti-virus enabled, so I know this isn't the issue.
I'm on OS X 10.6.7 with iTunes 10.2.1 (latest versions for both).
To me this issue doesn't have anything to do with my iPhone. It has something to do with iTunes or a setting on my computer. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

You've got an iPhone 4, correct? Here's a link for a direct download of the iOS 4.3.1 file. Download it directly & follow the instructions to install on your phone:

I suspect something wrong with your iTunes installation. After you update your phone, follow these instructions to completely remove iTunes & reinstall it. Things must be done in a certain order:

Unable to download iOS 5.1

I've been trying to download iOS 5.1 for two days. I keep getting an network connection error every time the download attempts to contact the software server. I've restarted my iPad 2 multiple times. I've also re-installed iTunes. I've also restarted my PC multiple times. I have a good network connection, as all of my online tools are working. Nothing will fix the problem. Same issue when I try to up my iPhone 4s and original iPad. Any ideas?

I added these along with the Google DNS server (8.8.8.8) and everything seems fine. If you view my router network DNS setting, it shows 192.168.1.1 which is just a DNS proxy address. I checked the Cox DNS servers that are actually being picked up by default - and for some reason they don't work for the IOS updates. My default network configuration worked fine for the original V5.0 and V5.01 updates - don't know what changed at Apple's end with V5.1. And, of course, my network works fine for everything else.

Connect your iPad to iTune (computer) and Check for Updates. Backup before you proceed with update.

You've tried turning off all firewall and antivirus software ? If that doesn't work then you could try downloading the 5.1.1 update via a browser :
original iPad
iPad 2 wifi

iPad 2 CDMA
iPad 2 new
iPad 3 wifi
iPad 3 gsm
iPad 3 CDMA
When it's finished downloading, in your computer's iTunes press and hold the shift key on Windows (command key on Mac) when clicking the Check For Updates button which should let you navigate to the downloaded file.
