Unable to download/open a WMV file

I am using Oracle Access Manager (OAM) 10.1.4.2. I have a website where you click on a link and the browser downloads a WMV video and plays the video. However, if I define in OAM a policy that protects the folder containing the video, and grant the appropriate access rights, the video file will not download. I get an error saying "Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is enither unavailable or cannot be found."
There are no headers returned from OAM actions. Any ideas why OAM may be blocking or otherwise interferring with the access/transfer?

Are you using an MDM?  I think there are MDM setting which can requires downloads to utilize a wi-fi connection.

No. To do so you need to install Flip4Mac WMV Player 2.4.4.2.

What do I need to open a wmv. file I receive in an e-mail on my iPad?

Look for a wmv player app in the app store. I can't recommend a specific one because I've not used them, but I can just suggest search for .wmv, read reviews and make a choice. Once you install that you should be able to open that video.

  • Firefox 6.0 w/ win media player plugin 1.0.0.8 enabled ALWAYS asks if I want to open a .wmv file with Win Media Player.

Firefox 6.0 would not open .wmv files, so I downloaded and installed M/S windows media player firefox plugin, ver 1.0.0.8.
I have checked using the plugin mgr that it is installed and enabled, but firefox still will not open .wmv files - It still brings up a window asking if I want to use Win Media Player to open the file.

  • Downloading/Opening a Presenter File on a Mac

    Hello,
We design educational programming and have used Adobe Presenter for as long as we've been in operation in order to deliver slides that teachers can download to use in their classroom, but that are also delivered in a secure way.
    Here is an example:  https://backup.filesanywhere.com/fs/v.aspx?v=8b716b885f606fad9ba4
Recently we've recieved a flurry of emails from users saying they are unable to open the files on their systems.  We know the relationship between Adobe and Apple can be touchy, but until recently we had no problem whatsoever with users that ran on Mac operating systems downloading and using the files (this is our third year using Presenter in this way).
Does anyone know if there is a direct or workaround solution for this?
If there is not, can anyone recommend an alternative program that will allow teachers to use a "slide" function, but will also allow us to deliver the files in a way that does not allow them to be edited?
I'd greatly appreciate any thoughts on this issue!

    Hi Kyle,
I downloaded the PDF from the shared location and checked it on  MAC (Lion 10.7). I am able to play the presentation properly.
Please let me know  following details:-
    1) Which version of Preseter you are using for publishing this presentation and
    2) Which Presenter version you used for earlier presentation when there were no cutomer issues.
    3) Secondly, on which Mac version do we see this issue?
Another point I want to mention is please ask your users to use Adobe Reader 9 or later for viewing the file. For older version of Adobe Reader is not supported.
    Regards,
    Shubhi

  • Quick Time opens internet.wmv files as text files

I'm trying to open internet video files that are generally .wmv files. Quick time does not open them, rather they open in a text format. Ideas? Thanks!

As the above poster said, you can download Windows Media Player for Mac to view .wmv files, or you can use my preferred method. Although it will cost you $9.99, you can download Flip4Mac's WMV Player. This is a Quicktime Codec that allows you to watch .wmv media within Quicktime and within your browser ending up as a complete media solution. You don't need two different applications.
    Hope this helps,
    Ryan.

  • What application opens a .wmv file?

I've gotten several .wmv files in my email and being new to Macs I don't know what application opens these files. I can download them successfully however I always get an error message that says Saffari cannot open these files. Help!

.wmv is a Windows Media file.
You can use Windows Media Player for Mac to open those.
You might also need Stuffit Expander to extract the Windows Media Player file after it's downloaded.

  • Opening a .wmv file

I can't open .wmv files. Is there a program I need to download. Thanks

    Hey there,
My vote goes to Flip4Mac too. It works better than the Microsoft player. Be sure to double check the default settings in "System Preferences" after installation.

  • Downloading: "Open With" saves file to disk

For most file types, my setting under Applications is "Always ask." In the selection window ("You have chosen to open..."), selecting the "Open with" button does open the file in the default program, but it also saves the file to disk. I don't want the latter -- I'll use the "Save File" button if I want to keep the file.
This only happens on my Mac (OS X 10.6.8), not on Linux (Fedora 15). I thought this might be a Mac setting, but it doesn't happen with any other browser (including SeaMonkey). It's been going on for a year -- i.e., is not a Firefox 8 issue.
I disabled all the extensions and that was no help. It's probably a simple setting, but I'm stumped. Thanks!

Unfortunately, not all WMV files will play in the Mac version of Windows Media Player. Also, some of them might have played but they are protected by MicroSofts Digital Rights Management. You could try the demo version of the $10 player from this outfit to see if can play it. If it will not play it you likely can't view it in MacOS.

  • I am unable to download movies, MPG, WMV, etc. with Safari. Why? Any solutions?

I am unable to download MPG, WMV,MPEG,etc, movies from the web when I am using Safari. Chrome works fine. Is there something in Safari that has to be adjusted or disabled to make it work?

There is some anecdotal evidence that the scripts on the Apple site that are supposed to detect the version of Windows you are running may fail for some users - jumping straight to the "Thank you for downloading ..." page with the installer not having been downloaded.  As an alternative, you can go directly to the relevant downloads:
    iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (32-bit) - itunessetup.exe
    iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit) - itunes6464setup.exe
There is an alternative downloader for 64-bit editions of Windows here:
iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)
that seems to address the playback issues that some users have been reporting with the full 64-bit version (the alternative installer here is the same architecture as most previous "64-bit" versions of iTunes, i.e., a 32-bit application with a 64-bit installer).  The "for older video cards" reference does not seem to fully define the scope of systems for which this alternative works better.
See turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for more details if you're still having problems with installation.

  • Unable to download to presentation server file

i am trying to use ws_download to download the customer master data to a file.when i check in the internal table the data is present but i am unable to download to a file.

WS_download is an obsolete function module.
    Try using GUI_DOWNLOAD instead.
Also try to see the Sy-subrc returned by the function module. This will give you an idea as to which exception is being raised by the function module.
    Hope this helps

  • Flash Player update 10.3 unable to download and save flv files

    Hello,
Since the Flash Player update to 10.3.183.10 it is no longer possible for me to download and save *.flv files. A file of only 2320 kb is saved along with a meta file of 1 kb. The 2320 kb file has a flv extension but the file will not play in any of my media players. Files of mp4 type still download and play fine. The problem only occurred following the last upgrade and even though I uninstalled then reinstalled Adobe Flash Player I cannot overcome the problem. My PC runs MS Windows Vista Home Premium Version: 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 Build 6002. Browser Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421.
Your assistance would be much appreciated.
    Dibloc

    Thank you.
The problem only occurs when downloading flv files from YouTube. For all video downloads I have been using RealPlayer and experience no problems when downloading flv files from sites other than YouTube.
Have been able to download these files now using the site http://www.savevid.com/
Perhaps YouTube are blocking the use of RealPlayer from downloading flv files?
