  • I am unable to download ANY software updates whatsoever...

I am unable to download any software updates, whether it be Microsoft Office, Adobe or Apple updates. I run the update and I always ultimately get a message that there was an error (unspecified) and the update (du jour) could not be downloaded. I'm running Mac OS X Version 10.6.8 and have been unable to update to any newer version as a result of this issue. Any suggestions?

    First things first.
Microsoft Office updates you get here:

    Adobe updates you get here:

    Apple updates use Software Update.

  • Unable to download from AppStore, updates, etc.Messages 'the installer is damaged' to 'there might be a problem with file ownership and permissions.' I am the owner and only user of a new MBP. What could be going on?

Is anyone having the same type of problems I'm having with Lion. I have a new MacBook Pro, received 7 weeks ago, preinstalled with Leopard 10.6.7. I didn't migrate anything from my old iMac, wanted a clean install from the Apple Store. While there, I asked for the upgrade to Lion 10.7, however their system was down.
I  installed it myself, wirelessly about a week later, and Apple emailed me a receipt. Now, I've had to call support directly last week when I lost Mail, Address Book, was unable to open Preview or iTunes, among other problems. Seemed fixed after a session that baffled even the store tech.  Now I am unable to download or install the recent Mac updates for Lion, from the App Store, could not install Adobe Reader, etc. Messages range from 'A network error has occured - Check your Internet connection and try again' to 'The Installer is damaged and cannot open the package. There may be a problem with file ownership or permissions.'  All fail and I'll probably have to call Apple again. I am frustrated beyond words.  Logs 'Install's runner tool is not properly configured as a setuid tool', domain errors, 'attempt to write a readonly database, and on and on. I have barely done a thing on this computer except search online for help with these problems. Safari gives me a 'You are not connected to the internet' too often. Diagnostics disagrees. I do see wi-fi problems in the forum. Disk and permissions were fine at the beginning of the earlier problems, checked first by support tech. I'm not sure if support tech even knew. I was just happy they were fixed. Anyone have these download and/or install problems after a 'clean bill of health' so to speak, only a week ago?

  • Unable to download apps when updating

When I update my apps, I get a message saying: "unable to download app Kayak and 37 others" most of these apps were on my iPad and iPhone, but somehow got deleted. Now they seem to be in some twilight zone, where they can't be downloaded from.
Is it possible for an apple service employee to delete my: "to download" list...?
I have this problem on my iPad as well as on my iPhone...

    Hi,
I've been struggling to find a solution to this for days but just finally stumbled across a fix which worked for me.
If you are using your home wifi as your connection, go into the network settings and change the DNS to 8.8.8.8
I wrote my original settings down first in case this didn't work so I could put them back, but it worked first time.
    Give it a go!

  • Unable to download songs or update Podcasts

I have been using iTunes now for a few years and not experienced any real difficulties until now and have realised that it is very difficult to get support from Apple for the application itself.
    The Fault
I am logged into iTunes using my iTunes id and trying to update my podcasts, download a new podcast or download a single (eg: the free single of the week) however iTunes fails to download the items.
    The Symptoms
If I click "Get Song" to download a track and confirm I want the track by entering my password for my iTunes account, the application throws up the error below...
"Purchase of this item is not currently available
This item is being modified. Please try again later"
Clicking OK returns me back to the song that I was trying to download.
If I want to update or download a new podcast a small icon with an exclamation mark appears next to the podcast which was selected to download (either the update or new podcast).
On clicking on this exclamation mark the following message appears...
"There was a problem downloading "Mills:Making Laura cry. 18th Jan 07.". The required folder cannot be found.
Please check that the url is correct and the connection to the network is active and try again."
Clicking OK on this returns me to the podcasts list where I am trying to update a podcast.
    What I have already tried
Firstly I tried numerous different podcasts to make sure it simply wasn't the one I was trying to update or download. All are affected.
I have allowed a couple of days before trying to update or download again should there have been a general issue with iTunes or iTunes store.
I have removed the podcast from iTunes and tried to download it again.
I have ran a repair on iTunes.
I have performed a windows restore to a previous date when a podcast did update.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes with a fresh download from the apple site.
I have looked through all the settings within iTunes and can see no obvious setting which could be causing an issue.
I do have a working internet connection which iTunes has confirmed is working when I performed the iTunes network diagnostics from the help menu.
I have shouted at the laptop.
    I have threatened my laptop.
I have threatened the iTunes application.
    all to no avail!
I'm now really struggling to find a resolution to this.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

Try updating your browser to the current release, which can be found [http://getfirefox.com here]. However, if that doesn't work, try read the [[Unable to download or save files]] article.

  • Unable to download iMove & iTune updates

I have recently upgraded to Mountain Lion. I am now unable to download iMove and iPhoto updates. I have contacted iTunes and have been told it is a technical problem. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Worked out what the problem was; evidently Mountain Lion does not like iLife 09 and needs to be updated with iLife11 before it can download. To enable Mountiain Lion to download, iLife11 was installed at the Apple Shop; to access updates I need to purchase iLife11 on my account.

  • IPad air. Unable to download apps or update apps from app store.

Unable to download updates or new apps from app store. That circle goes round and round, but nothing happens.

Close the App Store app, reset your iPad and then try agin.
In order to close apps in iOS 7, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Updating software, after 10.4.11, l am unable to download 10.5 update

Initially had issues with log on page freezing during log in.
I reinstalled software that came with Macbook.
I initiated software updates and after sucessfully downloading 10.4.11. I initiated software update again, and it advised no new software is available.
I am unable to use itunes among other apps because I get a message that I need version 10.5 or higher to open them. I've tried manually downloading it as well as future updates, but I get same message "need version 10.5" to continue. Please help!

10.5 isn't an update for 10.4. It's an upgrade OS. 10.4 was Tiger, 10.5 was Leopard, 10.6 was Snow Leopard and the latest one is 10.7 Lion. Updates to an OS are free, upgrades have to be purchased. 10.4's last update put it at 10.4.11.
You can try and find a retail version of 10.5 Leopard but it will run over $100. Your best bet is to order a Snow Leopard 10.6 install disk for $29 as long as you have at least 1gb of RAM and 5gb of free space on your hard drive. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY

  • Why am I unable to download apps since updating my iphone 4 with version 5.1 software

    Please help,
since downloading the latest iphone software 5.1.1 i am unable to update or download apps
    mrmikes

Thanks. I had just assumed that my iPhone 3 was just too old for new apps and updates (seemed like logical apple move) so I gave up trying. Decided to do some serious digging and found this post, your fix worked like a charm, I'm a little embarrased, but very thankful.

  • HT4972 Unable to download apps after updating iPhone to iOS5

Updated my iPhone with iOS 5 and now I don't seem able to download any apps. When I try to download Kindle app, I get a message that it requires iOS 3.2, HBO GO requires 4.2, Apple's iBooks requires 4.2 (even Apple's own apps don't work!). Anu ideas?

You're either going to have to enter another payment method or contact Apple Support to get this resolved.

  • HT1414 unable to download apps or update

getting error when trying to upgrade or download a app HELP!

What is the error message that you see? Does this happen with all apps or a couple apps?
If you're seeing this error when purchasing from iTunes too, this might help -> Can't connect to the iTunes Store
If you're only seeing it with one or two apps, try updating the apps in iTunes and syncing them to the iPhone.

  • Unable to download(purchase) Lion Update from App Store

When I try to download Lion, the download sign in window appears and is populated with someone else's Apple ID. If I change the ID to mine and use my password I get 2 messages:
"We could not complete your request. There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (4)"
    Click OK and 2nd message:
    "Unknown Error"
iTunes does not exhibit this, and normal sign in to App Store shows correct ID, only the Download Authentication does this. I have been able to update other Apps just fine, this requires a purchase, and is the only difference.

Perhaps it was a display model at one time in the store and someone registered the OS in their name. I would return to the store with the Mac and show them the stranger's name that appears in the Mac App Store when you try to update Lion. Perhaps it is even an employee. Anyway, they need to set this right by you. A new Mac should not have someone else's Apple ID registered into it. That registration sent the unique identifier to Apple for this Mac and registered it to the person's Apple ID. Not cool.

  • : I am unable to download the latest update last attempt. 10-02-11. This malware was detected in my system when I first downloaded Firefox: Trojan-Downloader.JS.DarDuk.g

Well...... I am good and ticked....after being FRUSTRATED for many hours and days.... trying to get my player working with XP Pro....nothing tricky....just wanted the original software loaded for transferring my CD's to my ZEN Xtra.
I got so p----d I hunted down my original disc......go figure everything works fine aqain....
What a crock going to the Creative web site and attempting their downloads.......why do they not have this disc loaded and ready to download....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gee maybe if enough people screw up with doing FIRMWARE updates they can create another revenue stream....by the way firmware should be the last thing to attempt and only then if all else has failed....if it DON"T HURT DON"T FIX !!!!
Just the fact that there are so many forum issues tell me that I may have been wrong in my advice to friends to seek Creative unit vs an iPod.
This is simple technology and should not be so difficult or so convoluted (decepti've?) in compatability issues with new software releases, new computer purchases etc...... there seems to be a serious lack of commitment to being a 'value ad' type of company. My original disc works fine !!
Why is this not available if you can provide proof of purchase or if the product was registered originally.
    Hmmmmm.......
