Unable to Download Podcasts Since 9.0.2 - No "Get Episode" Button

Ever since the update to 9.0.2, I am unable to download podcasts from the iTunes store. The old and, it has to be said, reliable "Get Episode" button is nowhere to be seen. Clicking on the subscribe button brings me the warning splash screen, "Are you sure you want to subscribe?" but when I click "Yes" nothing happens.
The new iTunes Store design may be sexy and all that but it lacks the essential element of functionality. Black background, sure. 3-D buttons and windows, bring it on. But best of all... how about it just works?
I produce a podcast and it is very frustrating to think that all our hard work won't get heard because of a technical glitch. Is there a workaround? Or is it possible to go backwards in time to an older (more functional version of iTunes)? It seems like a pretty substantial problem... anyone else?

I've got iTunes 9.0.3. I'm clicking the FREE button (and every other button I can find) on podcast lists but since they changed the design I still can't download a single episode of a podcast.
Any help will be appreciated.
I guess not many people actually download podcasts or there would be a real storm about this - it's so basic, yet it doesn't work and there are almost no posts about it.
Thanks in advance.

  • "Unable to Download Podcast" error after upgrade to iOS7 - iPhone 4S

    Hey all,
Since upgrading to iOS7 on my iPhone 4S, the Podcasts app is no longer able to download new Podcasts directly from the app. I keep getting the error "Unable to Download Podcast" with the option to Retry, which always fails. This happens on both 3G and WiFi This error applies to any of my Podcast subscriptions. It was working fine on iOS 6.1.3. I have tried deleting it and re-installing it. I've toggled the Podcast app Settings. I have an iPad 3 WiFi and I haven't had the issue.
Anyone else experiencing this? Anyone know how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    John

    Hi neocec!
I have a couple of suggestions for you that will help you troubleshoot this issue. First, you should try to reset the iOS device by following these instructions:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

If you are still experiencing issues after attempting that troubleshooting step, you will want to restore your iOS device according to these instructions:

  • Unable to download podcasts on home network thru router on broadband modem

    HELP!
In the last month or so, I am unable to download podcasts thru out home network. Have 2 imacs, one connected wirelessly (N) and one ethernet on a Belkin Router connected to a Motorola Broadband Modem (DHCP). When podcasts are refreshed and begin to download, the downloads often stop. My research reveals that the podcast downloads cause all the machines on the network to become disconnected from the router with the exception of a TIVO connection. Thus no internet access across the VPN. The router remains connected to the internet, and if restarted, the network machines are restored. Wondering if I need to configure a Proxy Server for the VPN and for ITunes handshaking? Guidance appreciated.

Updated information: It appears, according to the Belkin Firewall Security Log, that the podcast downloads are being interrupted by the router which lists the event as a DoS Attack from my ISP address registered to the internet service provider (Comcast). Gathering this is based on high udp activity on port 80 (Can you tell I a over my head here?). I know I can configure certain port privileges in the firewall settings, downloaded the apple port sheets somewhere.......

I cannot uninstall or install itunes.  error is 'trying to use on a network resource that is unavailable'.  I cannot find  path to any folders containing installation package itunes.msi.  Unable to download itunes since 2 updates ago and crashed computer.    Windows update as suggested in some posts does not assist either.
Can anyone assist me?  Thank you so much

Should the advice above not fix things for you...
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Unable to download podcasts after authorizing new computer

I just authorized another computer. When I sync the ipod, I am unable to download podcasts that I already subscribed to.

Apple should be ashamed for sticking people with a crappy appp like the new iTunes.
After reinstalling iTunes 9.0.3 and the get episode button still not working, I exported my playlist (iTunes/File/Library/Export Playlist), trashed the iTunes application, iTunes library folders (in User and Music) and downloaded iTunes 8.2 ( http://en.kioskea.net/telecharger/telecharger-241-itunes-for-mac ), installed it, then imported the playlist back in.
    Ba-dah-boom.
It may not be as elegant as iTunes 9, but at least it works like it’s supposed to.

  • HT1725 I have tried to download the podcast "Ab Trimmer" from Exercise Tv and it does not allow the download to be completed. Comes up with Unable to Download podcast prompt. I now just want this to be moved from my download list, how do I do this?

I have tried to download the podcast "Ab Trimmer" from Exercise Tv and it does not allow the download to be completed. Comes up with Unable to Download podcast prompt. I now just want this to be removed from my download list, how do I do this?

The fix was to completely remove all Apple Software following guides in previous posts.
Then download and re-install latest iTunes 64-bit, making sure to Run As Administrator.
This fixed it. Now the next thing seems to be that as I move from one device to another to close and restart iTunes between each one. Treat it gently. It seems to break easily and a lot.

  • How Can I Download Podcasts When The Get Episode Button is Grayed Out?

I can purchase and download songs from the itunes store with no problem. When I attempt to download a podcast, however, I am unable to do so. The Get Episode button in the Price Column is grayed-out. This "gray-out" occurs with ALL podcasts, not just one or two podcasts. I uninstalled itunes and Quicktime from Windows and reinstalled it, but that hasn't solved the problem.
    Any ideas?

Go to... Edit > Preferences > Parental Control
Make sure you don't have "Disable Podcasts" selected.
If that doesn't work, I don't know what else to tell you.

  • While downloading podcasts to my library, I am getting the message, "the iTunes Library file cannot be saves. An unknown error occured (-54)." Any idea of what is going on?

While downloading podcasts to my library, I am getting the message, "the iTunes Library file cannot be saves. An unknown error occured (-54)." Any idea of what is going on?
    Thanks.

The problem went away on its own. Not sure what was the problem but perhaps somehow the system was out sync internally due installing Lion 10.7.3/Snow Leopard 10.6.8/10.7/10.7.3 with iTunes 6 installing after the 10.7.3 and then needing to be installed again after the second 10.7.3 install from the updater model.
I kept accepting the error message and checking iTunes music file. No podcast downloads were actually rejected.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • Can't download: Subscribe and Get Episode buttons grayed out

I have an iPhone. I sync my contact/calendar etc info on 2 different computers: my home computer and my work laptop. I had never used Podcasts before.
A few days ago, while at work, somebody showed me a podcast, and I hit the subscribe button, not thinking much of it since it is free content. Then, when I got home, I realized I'd rather manage Podcasts from my primary personal computer. However, now all "Subscribe" and "Get Episode" buttons are grayed out! I deleted the Podcast from my work laptop, that didn't help. I reinstalled iTunes, even into a different directory, that didn't help.
I'm at a loss. Even though it is free content I can only play Podcasts on one computer? And can't change which one that is?
I have a ticket open with support but so far have only gotten the FAQ pasted into an email to me.
Can anybody help? Have you seen this before?

Just to clarify, on my work laptop I can download Podcasts just fine. However this is a temporary computer, I need to be able to do this on my home computer.
I simply did not realize that downloaded a Podcast once would make it so that's the only computer that can download any Podcasts at all. Is there no way to remove this restriction, change it so this laptop can't and my home computer can instead? De-authorize this computer from Podcast management, basically?
Any ideas at all? iTunes support has been no help, they keep telling me to re-install or to contact the publisher of the Podcast, but this is about ALL Podcasts, it's simply how iTunes works it seems.

  • Since changing our computer I have been unable to download ebooks to my Reader Library I get a message Some file types associated with EPUB files are not associated with Reader Library; Waterstones suggest that I may have accidentally created a new Adobe

When I try to download them from the Waterstones website I get a message saying:
‘Some file types associated with EPUB files are not associated with Reader Library.  Do you want to associate them now?  When I reply yes I get another message; ‘Configuration error unable to update EPUB files check network firewall and try again’.
The ‘books’ are saved in the Download directory and I can’t transfer them from there to my E-Reader. I have not had any problems before, it was very simple; I saved the download and it automatically went into the Reader Library.
I contacted HP and they said it is a software error and suggested I contact Waterstones.  I contacted Waterstones Customer Support and got the following response:
As the error message is specifically mentioning the firewall it does sound like something in the firewall settings is stopping the download from taking place correctly. However, the files should not be being saved to the Download folder. It would be worth trying again by going to your Digital Order History on your Waterstones.com account and pressing the download button, and then making sure to press "Open" not "Save". When you press Open rather than Save it should give the option to open the file with Adobe Digital Editions. If the firewall message still comes up then I'm afraid something is blocking it on your end.
If the above "Open" download method works but you then still get an error message it could possibly be that you have accidentally created a new Adobe ID when setting up on the new computer, rather than signing in with your old Adobe ID. It would be worth trying the aforementioned download technique again first, but if problems did still persist it would be worth calling Adobe themselves on 0207 365 0735, as they should be able to sort out any account issue.
In response to the first para of Waterstones email I already do what they suggest I do press ‘Open’ not ‘Save’ but I don’t get the open with Adobe Digital Editions (we have installed Adobe Digital Editions on the new computer. Waterstones say we may have ‘accidentally created a new Adobe ID when setting up the new computer’ does that mean that we shouldn’t have installed Adobe Digital Editions on the new computer as it would have already been there? How do I sign in with my old Adobe ID?

Hi all after attampting to get some supoport from adobe by phone.... nice people infurating policys as far as support for digital editions or DRM is conserned... However I got no where with support.
I ended up instaling Digital editions on my desktop PC and going through the motions of registering and borrowing a book then returning it. Then I trying on my iPad, Bluefire worked, Over drive did not so I completely removed Overdrive and reinstalled and re registered. all working now.
Maybe some one at adobe did something. Maybe the install of the adobe DE client on a PC corrected what ever was out of wack with my account. Mayby the server that my account lives on did a scan disk and corrected a bad clustrer.
What ever happend My account is actiove and working again. hope this helps others.
