  • "Unable to Download Podcast" error after upgrade to iOS7 - iPhone 4S

    Hey all,
Since upgrading to iOS7 on my iPhone 4S, the Podcasts app is no longer able to download new Podcasts directly from the app. I keep getting the error "Unable to Download Podcast" with the option to Retry, which always fails. This happens on both 3G and WiFi This error applies to any of my Podcast subscriptions. It was working fine on iOS 6.1.3. I have tried deleting it and re-installing it. I've toggled the Podcast app Settings. I have an iPad 3 WiFi and I haven't had the issue.
Anyone else experiencing this? Anyone know how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    John

    Hi neocec!
I have a couple of suggestions for you that will help you troubleshoot this issue. First, you should try to reset the iOS device by following these instructions:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

If you are still experiencing issues after attempting that troubleshooting step, you will want to restore your iOS device according to these instructions:

  • Unable to Download Podcasts Since 9.0.2 - No "Get Episode" Button

Ever since the update to 9.0.2, I am unable to download podcasts from the iTunes store. The old and, it has to be said, reliable "Get Episode" button is nowhere to be seen. Clicking on the subscribe button brings me the warning splash screen, "Are you sure you want to subscribe?" but when I click "Yes" nothing happens.
The new iTunes Store design may be sexy and all that but it lacks the essential element of functionality. Black background, sure. 3-D buttons and windows, bring it on. But best of all... how about it just works?
I produce a podcast and it is very frustrating to think that all our hard work won't get heard because of a technical glitch. Is there a workaround? Or is it possible to go backwards in time to an older (more functional version of iTunes)? It seems like a pretty substantial problem... anyone else?

I've got iTunes 9.0.3. I'm clicking the FREE button (and every other button I can find) on podcast lists but since they changed the design I still can't download a single episode of a podcast.
    Any help will be appreciated.
I guess not many people actually download podcasts or there would be a real storm about this - it's so basic, yet it doesn't work and there are almost no posts about it.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Unable to download podcasts on home network thru router on broadband modem

    HELP!
In the last month or so, I am unable to download podcasts thru out home network. Have 2 imacs, one connected wirelessly (N) and one ethernet on a Belkin Router connected to a Motorola Broadband Modem (DHCP). When podcasts are refreshed and begin to download, the downloads often stop. My research reveals that the podcast downloads cause all the machines on the network to become disconnected from the router with the exception of a TIVO connection. Thus no internet access across the VPN. The router remains connected to the internet, and if restarted, the network machines are restored. Wondering if I need to configure a Proxy Server for the VPN and for ITunes handshaking? Guidance appreciated.

Updated information: It appears, according to the Belkin Firewall Security Log, that the podcast downloads are being interrupted by the router which lists the event as a DoS Attack from my ISP address registered to the internet service provider (Comcast). Gathering this is based on high udp activity on port 80 (Can you tell I a over my head here?). I know I can configure certain port privileges in the firewall settings, downloaded the apple port sheets somewhere.......

  • Unable to download podcasts after authorizing new computer

I just authorized another computer. When I sync the ipod, I am unable to download podcasts that I already subscribed to.

Apple should be ashamed for sticking people with a crappy appp like the new iTunes.
After reinstalling iTunes 9.0.3 and the get episode button still not working, I exported my playlist (iTunes/File/Library/Export Playlist), trashed the iTunes application, iTunes library folders (in User and Music) and downloaded iTunes 8.2 ( http://en.kioskea.net/telecharger/telecharger-241-itunes-for-mac ), installed it, then imported the playlist back in.
    Ba-dah-boom.
It may not be as elegant as iTunes 9, but at least it works like it’s supposed to.
More info on downgrading iTunes can be found here: http://davesource.com/Solutions/20080306.Easy-Downgrade-iTunes-OSx.html

  • Since I updated to ios 5.1.1 I'm getting " Unable to download podcast" error? Is there any fix for this?

How can I fix unable to download podcast error, even if I retry it gives me the same message with all the podcasts I have in my iPhone. How can I fix this?

Are you seeing the same message with Apple's Podcasts app? More info about the Podcasts app here -> About the Podcasts app for iOS
Is this happening with all podcasts? Maybe the server that hosts that podcast is down or it's having problems, try testing with one of the other top rated podcasts.

  • HT1725 I have tried to download the podcast "Ab Trimmer" from Exercise Tv and it does not allow the download to be completed. Comes up with Unable to Download podcast prompt. I now just want this to be moved from my download list, how do I do this?

I have tried to download the podcast "Ab Trimmer" from Exercise Tv and it does not allow the download to be completed. Comes up with Unable to Download podcast prompt. I now just want this to be removed from my download list, how do I do this?

The fix was to completely remove all Apple Software following guides in previous posts.
Then download and re-install latest iTunes 64-bit, making sure to Run As Administrator.
This fixed it. Now the next thing seems to be that as I move from one device to another to close and restart iTunes between each one. Treat it gently. It seems to break easily and a lot.

  • Unable to download podcast the second time

Using iTune with my ipod touch, once I started downloading a podcast (whether I finish it or not), if I deleted the podcast afterward or while downloading I am unable to re-download it again.
Is there a way to do that? Thanks!

I'm absolutely baffled as to why it was once available on iTunes, I know this cause I subscribed back in sept, but now it's not.
I've just (gone out of my way and) done a web search for the Glenn Beck Insider Podcast. This took me to the Glenn Beck website, where six of the links from the home page were "page not found!" I have even found a direct link to the site for Podcast, which took a long time, but the page has finally loaded.
It's unclear when, but there has been a change to the way this provider offers the Podcast. It refers to the Podcast as a new feature, available only to Insider Pass Members, and if I launch the iTunes link for the Podcast, it takes me to a login page.
So first of all, the Podcast is only available to signed up members of the Glenn Beck Podcast. So this is not a straight forward Podcast, it has additional steps (and hurdles) to get through before the Podcast can be downloaded. This probably explains why I can't find it in the store.
In the end, I stick by my previous advice - contact the Podcast provider because only they know how their complex system works. Frankly, I'm not even sure of that judging by the number of "page not found" links on their site. What is certain in my mind is, you won't find the solution through Apple.

  • Unable to download podcasts on ipod touch

When I go to itunes in the ipod pick any podcast and click on download, I see the download in the downloads tab going until it's done downloading and then it just disappears.

I'll also add that when looking in itunes on the computer, when ipod is connected, I can see all of the podcasts as if they're on the ipod.

  • Users are unable to download podcasts

    Hi Guys,
Thanks for all the help so far - but I have a kicker! We've placed a few podcasts on and through our (missing)testing, did not pick up that selecting to download the podcast did not actually work. The podcast is #1 in Australia at the moment - but does not allow users to actually download any of the three vodcasts there.
The link URL: http://ten.com.au/ten/media/TGYH_m4v.xml and the iTunes link is: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=258160515
Episodes look to download - though do not actually store anywhere which I can find on the User's PC.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated - as I'm just pulling hair on this!
    Ads.

I think you might have a small problem with your code, and something wrong with your episode 3 file.
    First the enclosure problem...you have:
    <enclosure url="http://dl.tgyh.com.au/newdls/TGYHS3Ep18974.m4v" length="39687349" type="video/x-m4v"></enclosure>
Take out the extra ></enclosure> and close the tag with />
so it looks more like this:
    <enclosure url="http://dl.tgyh.com.au/newdls/TGYHS3Ep18974.m4v" length="39687349" type="video/x-m4v" />
You might want to add a <guid> for each of your enclosure. This can be as simple as copy/pasting the URL to your episode file:
    <guid>http://dl.tgyh.com.au/newdls/TGYHS3Ep18974.m4v</guid>
These should be unique, don't use the same one twice.
You'll have to do it for each of your enclosures.
As for the Episode 3...the filename is wrong, so iTunes can't find it to download it. Change the file extension from mp4 to m4v and it will work.
Also the iTunes:image href tag is a channel element...it doesn't do anything inside an item element. So you can remove them.
    Erik

Try deleting the .tmp file associated with that specific download and then try downloading again. This has worked for me, but not for error -39 and -3259.

  • [2.2 firmware] Unable to download Podcast even through WiFi+VPN

I upgraded to 2.2 and was hoping to download some podcasts directly to my phone but any podcast over 10MB that I try to download gives me an error message saying "This podcast is over 10Mb in size. Please connect to a WiFi network or download it using ITunes on your computer".
But the issue is I am connected to WiFi. I am also using VPN to connect to my network - could this be a problem?

Are you truly connected via VPN? You should try to access whatever services require you to use a VPN. For example, if VPN connection fails, you can be connected to wireless but not be able to use it and the phone will not transition properly to EDGE or 3G. Thus, the internet will be effectively useless.

  • Cannot Download Podcasts - iTunes 10.5.1 x64

    Good Morning All -
For the past few days, I've been unable to download Podcasts in iTunes.
    What Happens
I can subscribe to Podcasts via the iTunes Store and they show up in my Podcasts section, but are greyed out. (below)
When I try to click on "Get", an exclamation point is displayed to the left of the Podcast.  When I click on it, I get an error message:  "There was a problem downloading..." It then says "Authorization is needed to access..." (below)
    Machine Specs
    Lenovo Thinkpad T510
    Windows 7 SP1 x64
iTunes 10.5.1.42 x64 (The issue was there before upgrading, though)
Administrator / Local Administrator rights. (Computer is joined to a domain, but I log into it as a local user which has local admin rights)
What I've Tried to Resolve the Issue - None of them worked:
Delete / Unsubscribe from all Podcasts, then Subscribe to them again
Deauthorize iTunes (My Computer), then Authorize it again
Reinstalled iTunes (Uninstall / Delete any leftover files from Profile & App Path (except library) / Reinstall
    Windows Event Logs show nothing
    Other Notes
About a month ago, I did create a new Library in a different folder & even on a different partition.  I used it to migrate only the things I wanted to keep.  I did it this way so I could take my time doing it without loosing any current data.  Could this have something to do with it?  I'd rather not recreate a new library again from scratch - perhaps there's a way to "reset" just the Podcasts section.
I use iTunes to sync the following devices which I own:  iPhone 4 (5.0), iPad 2 Wifi (5.0), iPod Classic (~60gb), AppleTV Classic (4.x?)
    I use iTunes Match
Previously, I've installed and used "TuneUp" which runs alongside iTunes to clean my library of 3500+ songs.
The combined size of my Library on disk is ~90gb and is held on a seperate drive & partition than iTunes & OS and uses the D: drive letter (Seems stupid to say, but know different drive letters can cause issues in some apps)
    Lastly
So what may I do to resolve this issue?  I've tried to include any information that may have a role in the error.  Just in case, I ran the iTunes diagnostics and included them below.  I tried to include everything, but guess there's a limit of screenshots you can apply to a post.
    Thank You! - Ben K.
Diagnostics - Results Below in Screenshots
Note:  Was unable to run CD Drive test due to using a 2nd hard drive in CD slot - Wouldn't think it would be issue anyways.

Disable any Anti-Virus and Firewall software on the computer then try again.
