Unable to download programs OS 10.6.8
Hello. In seeking to download any application or program I receive the following message:
/Users/Jo/Downloads/xUI1qKZH.part could not be saved, because you cannot change the contents of that folder.
Change the folder properties and try again, or try saving in a different location.
I have had this problem since getting the MacBook in December 2010. OS 10.6.8
Any advice on how to resolve this gratefully accepted. Thanks all. Jo.
Thank you Andrew. However, the MacBook already has the settings you describe for the Downloads folder. So I am hoping there is some other step that will resolve the problem.
I wonder if the migration of settings, and everything, from a 2006-era MacBook is connected to this issue. I recall I had to go through the whole automated migration process twice when I acquired the preset MacBook in December 2010. Various 'inside' features, eg the Library, seen to be duplicated.
I have otherwise used the MacBook 'out of the box' and have put up with the inability to download.
Also relevant is that I also cannot download attachments from emails.
I am wondering if a clean install would be a good idea? -- Jo.

I have seen "Arvato bertelsman" described online as a "3rd party vendor". The only two program's that I have seen for extraction of the file with the actual program have been
Adobe Application Manager and Akami. So, I have no idea how Arvato bertelsman factors in your purchase at your local Australian retain shop. And, I have not seen that email
address either.
I am not sure this will work but try to contact Adobe Chat and determine if its representative can help you or direct you to a department who can. These days Adobe Chat support
seems limited for Premiere Elements, and it seems to be referring users to Ask the Community which is us (user to user). Let us give this a try...click on the following link

Another possibility....if you have a purchased serial number...download and install the Premiere Elements 13 tryout from the following web site and then insert you purchased
serial number in them at installation. See if that works.

I have been unable to download adobe acrobat pro, which I purchased on a month to month basis almost exactly 1 year ago, since I purchased it. I just received a renewal email and it had a link to download the program and for the first time when I clicked on the link it actually sent me to a page that had the icon to download now. I clicked on that, but when I went to open the file and start downloading after about 3 minutes into downloading it says an error had occurred. Can anyone help me?
I am a little worried. If you are an existing subscriber why would Adobe need you to download... I wonder if the message is a fake.
I'm not clear, if you've had it for a year, whether you need to download, or you are just following the email?

I am unable to download iTunes on my second Windows 8 computer (64 bit). I got it fine on my first one and have used it quite a bit. After downloading the program and installing it on the second computer, I keep getting this error message: "Apple Mobile Device Failed to Start." This happens when when my IPhone 5c is connected via Wi-Fi and I have clicked on "Trust This Computer." (I have tried to install several times-- It gets hung up when it reaches"Starting Services.")
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

Unable to install downloaded programs
I am unable to install any downloaded programs. dmg file expands to disk image but when I click to open, the icon bounces once in the dock and then disappears. I am using 10.4.6 on a 1.8GHz G5. I just got this machine to replace a G4- used but with an apparently clean install of the OS. I have lots of drive space available and 2 GB of SDRAM.

I am unable to run downloaded programs
I am trying to download various programs on my macbook pro and some will work and others won't. I am able to download chrome, and firefox, but I can't download programs such as plex media server. I have downloaded the install package but it doesn't do anything when I click on it. It is a dmg file if that helps. My firewall is off. When it asks me if I want to open it, nothing happens. Please help
I don't use torrents of any kind - often the content is illegally distributed and often, too, the content downloaded is full of potential malware and system modifications - so I can't help you there.
But if you can get dmg files to mount, you should have no problems installing the software therein.

The antivirus program our company uses, Bitdefender Antivirus Plus, was causing some of the PDF files not to open. After troubleshooting the different modules and settings the culprit was..
Scan SSL in Privacy Control Settings. Turning it OFF solved the problem and all the PDF files that previously would not open now open just fine. This issue has been sent to Bitdefender for them to review. If you use a different antivirus program and are having this issue try locating the Scan SSL setting and see if turning it off solves the problem.
