Having issues opening raw files from Canon 5D Mark iii in Photoshop CS5
I cannot open RAW files from a Canon 5D Mark III in Photoshop CS5. I get an error saying "
Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw.
Please visit the Camera Raw help documentation for additional information."
Documentation seems to be no help.
Any ideas? You can download the updates manually and try to install them Adobe - Photoshop : For Macintosh
If you can not get CS5 updated you may want to consider Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6

I have a Canon 70D and my old lightroom3 will not download raw files even though I have downloaded DNG 8.5 on my iMac. how can I overcome this problem?

I was being lazy and hoping that Adobe might have created some sort of patch which would allow me to import directly from my camera to lightroom
Neither Adobe, nor any other company that produces a Raw converter, ever retrospectively adds new camera support to old (obsolete) versions of their software. -

Unable to open raw files from canon d70 in elements 12 help
hi. just purchased elements 12 as i was told it would open my canon d70 raw files. have installed elements 12 and done the update from the update box in elements but still it wont open raw files. any help would be greatly appreciated.
There is probably a way to hack your system into work with ACR 8.3 using the plug-in ZIP file from this page and copying it manually to the specific folder where it needs to go:
http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/camera-raw-84-support-policy.html#To%20run%20Came ra%20Raw%20on%20Mac%20OS%2010.6,%20Windows%20XP,%20or%20Windows%20Vista,%20remove%20the%20 8.4%20plug-in%20and%20manually%20reinstall%20Camera%20Raw%208.3
Download the 32-bit version of ACR 8.3 from the page, above.
Unzip it to the file Camera Raw.8bi.
Copy that new Camera Raw.8bi over the top of the existing one in this folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 12\File Formats
Then install the DNG Converter 8.3 as mentioned in the page, above. -
Photoshop CC: unable to open Raw files from Canon T1i
I am trying to edit photos in the raw CR2 format I took with my Canon T1i. I cannot get the new Photoshop CC to open them. I think I need a plug in to do this but cannot find out where to download the plug in. Please send a link to the plug in 5.4 for windows and how to download it so i can finish editing the photos I have. Thanks!
The Canon T1i has been supported by Photoshop since Photoshop CS4 (via an upgrade to ACR 5.4).
The Adobe Camera Raw plugin has been able to read T1i Raw files out-of-the-box in Photoshop since CS5.
Something else must be happening.
raw CR2 format I took with my Canon T1i. I cannot get the new Photoshop CC to open them.
What happens when you try? Any error messages? -
Unable to import Raw files from 5D Mk3 into LR3 [was:.CR2 files]
I am having trouble importing .CR2 files into lightroom 3. Any Suggestions
http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
The 5D Mk3 was first supported in Lightroom 4.1. Lightroom 3 will not be upgraded to read files from the 5D Mk3.
You can either upgrade to Lightroom 5 or use the free Adobe DNG converter to convert the Raw .CR2 files to DNGs then edit the DNGs in Lightroom 3.

Problem with the RAW images from Canon 5d Mark III
hope you are doing good. i need your opinion regarding a phenomena i am observing in the RAW images from Mark iii.
The following images appear to be absolutely correct in the camera and when viewed through a picture viewer.
I have tried and tested the following scenarios:
1. Used a medium speed kingston CF Card (new) and transferred the images through the USB cable supplied with the camera.
2. Thought the card might be slow OR faulty.. used Sandisk Extreme and Extreme Pro SD Cards but same result.
3. Transferred SD Card data through the builit in laptop card reader.
4. Have directly imported the images from SD Card into Lightroom 4.3, copied the data firstly to laptop HDD and then imported, copied the SD card data to an external HDD and then copied. .... same result!!
5. Have tried the same with both Win7 and Mac OS.
6. The DPP sw that came with the camera gives the error of 'Decoding Failed' with these images.
Usually 10-15 images out of 100 give this kinda pattern. so i was hoping if you can guide me what is going wrong here !!!The camera and PictureViewer are likely showing you the embedded JPG, while DPP and LR are decoding the raw data which appears to be corrupted. Assuming you have formatted your SD cards in the camera and the issues are always in the same positions in the same images when you transfer them multiple times from the card to different computers via different methods, then the data is on the card that way.
If the embedded JPG is ok then the sensor is ok, so something between the sensor-readout and the storage on the card appears to be failing intermittently, and it’s time to talk to Canon, I think. -
Are there issues with DNG Converter reading CR2 files from Canon 5D Mark III?
I am having problems similar to what's detailed at http://forums.adobe.com/message/4356184 (which unfortunately provides no explanation/solution) ... I choose the file where my CR2 RAW files are and try to convert but it tells me there are no files to convert. Only differences are I'm on Windows not a Mac, and I'm using Elements 9 not 10.
Let's continue to use that same forum thread for this conversation.

HT3825 How to view RAW from Canon 5D mark III for OS 10.6
To 'Preview' RAW files from Canon 5D mark III, it is known that you need to install the Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 3.12 , but it can only be used with iphoto 9, which in turn only work in OS 10.7, so there is no way for 10.6 users to 'Preview' the RAW files? Please help if you no any other ways, thank you!

Can I download RAW Files from Canon5D (Mk1) in LR4 ?
I have heard reports that LR4 cannot be used to download files from Canon 5D (Mk1).....is this true ?
Also why do I have to upgrade from LR3.6 to LR4 just so I can download RAW files from Canon G1X camera?...... for one who obtains no income from photography the continual costly upgrades are ridiculous !!!Some people seem to like making Adobe the villain in this dilemma/issue. You don't have to have any version of Lightroom to download or work on your raw files. Software was included with your camera that will do that. The problem is that the camera maker wants to sell cameras, not software. So they don't devote the time to making the software everything that it could be. And since most camera makers insist on using proprietary file formats, it imposes a hardship on Adobe and other third-party developers to keep up with the demand.
Providing support for new cameras isn't the only development that goes on with the Lightroom team. They are constantly looking for ways to improve the process. When a major version of Lightroom is released there has to be an expense to upgrading. Otherwise, there would be no development, no improvement, just stagnation.
But, as has been mentioned, if your camera is not supported in Lightroom 3.6, Adobe provides free of charge the DNG converter. It will convert your images to DNG (Digital negative) files that can be opened in the software that you already have. When a new major version of Lightroom is released, development on the previous version ceases. Support for cameras that are introduced has to be done on a model basis, not just the file format. So if you purchase a new camera and want support from software that you are accustomed to using, you should expect to upgrade to get that support. The move from Lightroom 3.6 to 4.1 will provide you with a lot more than just added support for new cameras. The new process is much more refined and can produce superior results. If that isn't of value to you then simply use the DNG converter. -

I am unable to upload raw files from my Canon 7d ii, even after updating elements 12
unable to up load raw files from Canon 7dii
Hi,
No, you do not have to switch to CC.
The Canon 7D Mk II is currently not supported by any version of camera raw.
It is expected that Camera raw 8.7 will include support and we are hoping that it will be released soon.
PSE 12 has ceased to be updated - you will either need to update to PSE 13 or use the DNG 8.7 converter (when it becomes available) to convert the CR2 files to DNG files - PSE 12 will then beable to use the DNG files.
