Unable to download SQL 2014.
Hi
I am an authorized user of MSDN and I have been trying to download MS SQL 2014 for the last week. However the download is ridiculously slow and it is not because of my data line because I have tried to download from a leased line and using an ADSL line.
The problem is that it downloads for about 40 - 50% and then disconnects. The 40 - 50% takes more than 5 - 6 hours. I don't have this problem on any other site. We are VLSC with MSDN license and this is seriously frustrating.
Please HELP
If this is not the right forum please give me details of the correct forum
Regards
Matthew
Hi Matthew,
What operation system and web browser are you using?
When I try downloading SQL Server 2014 Express in Internet Explorer, it is slow as well.
As a work around for this issue, please use different web browser or use other download tools such as Download Manager to download SQL Server 2014.
Thanks,
Lydia Zhang

Unable to install SQL Server 2014 Express LocalDb on Windows 8.1 Update 1
Apologies if this is not the right place or this has been posted before (I looked and didn't find anything)
I am unable to install SQL Server 2014 Express LocalDb on Windows 8.1 Update 1, as I get an 'Operating System not Supported' error message right away.
What can I do to get this working?Hi Zgreve,
Usually, from
hardware and software requirements for installing SQL Server 2014, we can install SQL Server Express version on the Windows 8.1. For more information, see:
Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Express.
Before you install SQL Server 2014 Express version, you should ensure installing the .NET Framework 4, then run as administrator for the SQL Server setup.exe again.
There is a similar detail about install SQL Server Express LocalDB via GUI and command line. You can also review the following steps.
http://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertip/2694/getting-started-with-sql-server-2012-express-localdb/
If the same error about OS still exists, I recommend you submitting a feedback to Microsoft such issues at
https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/Feedback, Your feedback enables Microsoft to offer the best software and deliver superior services, meanwhile you can learn more about and contribute to the
exciting projects on Microsoft Connect.

Finally! T-SQL Reference for SQL 2014 available for download!
With a mere delay of four month since the release, it is now possible to download the T-SQL Reference for SQL 2014 for your local copy of Books Online. Due to some reorganisations of the reference material on MSDN, the language reference was misisng from
the initial download.
To get the reference, you need to use Manage Help Settings, which you find the SQL 2014 program group. Select the option "Install content from online". Once all information has been loaded, scroll down to the SQL Server 2014 group and you will
SQL Server Language Reference with an Add option, which you should select.
Now, SQL 2014 uses Help Viewer 1.0, which is very poor, and versions 2.0 and 2.1 which ships with VS 2012/2013 is much more pleasant to use. Thanks to SQL Server MVP Simon Sabin, you can get the SQL 2014 into Help Viewer 2.x in this way. Go to
https://helpviewerredirector.codeplex.com/
save the file to a directory. Open a command prompt in that directory and run "HelpViewerRedirector download". Then in Help View, go to manage settings, and select install content from disk. Browse to the folder and select the files you want to see
in Help Viewer 2.1.

I am unable to see following SQL Server Analysis Services in central admin services after the SQL 2014 power pivot installations
RaviHi Ravi,
Per my knowledge, there is no Analysis Service in SharePoint.
After running the SQL 2014 setup to install PowerPivot for SharePoint, you need to open the PowerPivot for SharePoint 2013 Configuration tool in Central Admin Server and configure PowerPivot for SharePoint.
After that, you will see new Service Application called "Default PowerPivot Service Application" in Central Administration.
If you have other WFE servers, then you need to install the PowerPivot Add-In on all the other servers in the SharePoint farm.

[Personal Site] [Blog] [Facebook]Hi,
Yes, this link is for subscribers only. Moreover, each version of subscription has different options to download. I use the ultimate MSDN therefore I could download all. I am not sure which plain of MSDN there are now, It is changing
all the time. here are usually cheaper plain for developers teams. I recommend to check it at the time you open a subscriber. several weeks ago I opened to one of my client a great plain build for small developing teams (till 4 users if I remember correctly).
It include 4 licence from each including office (the personal subscription include 1 even with the ultimate if I got it correctly).

Unable to download new Oracle SQL Developer 1.1
The following url is dead (HTTP 500 - Internal server error ) and uable to be reached when trying to download SQL Developer 1.1 (1.1.0.23.64)
http://download.oracle.com/otn/java/sqldeveloper/sqldeveloper-2364.zip
Doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the quality of Oracle software when a simple download link is invalidTo report back on the outage from last week. There was an outage, which is what those of you on this list reported on. Feedback from Support was that it was short lived and rectified. Regrettably, it affected your ability to download SQL Developer when you wanted and needed to. We all know how frustrating that is and when a web site is unhelpful, that is even more aggravating. I can only apologize.
I do have a web site for reporting future outages. This forum is under the OTN Services section and is the downloads forum:

The OTN Services section also has, among others, a Feedback forum.

Please help As i am running out of time as i have to upgrade TFS for that first step is to install SQL server.Hello,
The following are a few things you can try:
Copy the media to the local disk drive, unzip it (in case you are installing from an ISO file, and run SQL Server setup from there.
Try to unregister and register the Windows Installer with the following two commands:
msiexec /unregister
msiexec /regserver
Try to use Process Monitor to log the detailed error produced when the installation of dw20sharedamd64.msi fails. You can download Process Monitor from the following link:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645
Share with us the error captured by Process Monitor.
Hope this helps.

Error message in SQL Developer - Cannot connect to DEV. HTTP/1.1 403 Target service not allowed
Additional Information
Steps followed -
1. The oracle users APEX_LISTENER and APEX_REST_PUBLIC_USER did not exist, so I ran apex_rest_config.sql from the APEX 2.4.1 patchset whilst connected sys as sysdba and provided the same password as APEX_PUBLIC_USER for both users.
2. I also ran
grant insert, delete on APEX_040200.wwv_flow_rt$privilege_groups to APEX_LISTENER;
alter session set current_schema = APEX_LISTENER;
create or replace synonym wwv_flow_rt$privilege_groups for APEX_040200.wwv_flow_rt$privilege_groups;
as per Oracle SQL Developer User's Guide Release 4.0
3. copied ords.war to apex.war
4. java -jar apex.war configdir /u01/app/oracle/admin/apex/devdomain1/

NOTHING UNUSUAL IN ANY OF THE WEBLOGIC LOG FILES, EXCEPT THAT IT STATES
'Oracle REST Data Services version : 2.0.6.27.18.06' when I've installed 2.0.7.
Any help much appreciatedFurther to the above post, I thought I'd simplify my Apex Listener install just to see if I can connect to it via SQL Developer
So downloaded the latest version 2.0.8 and decided to configure and run the Listener on my pc whilst still connecting to the same database.
Operating system : Window 7 Pro 64 bit
Oracle Apex Listener 2.0.8
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_25-b17)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.25-b01, mixed mode)
Went through the configuration as above, once started I tried again to access the listener via SQL Developer. This time I received this output from the listener:
INFO: Error: ORA-02291: integrity constraint (APEX_040200.WWV_FLOW_RT$APPROVALS_SGID_FK) violated - parent key not found, occurred during execution of: [CALL, insert into wwv_flow_rt$approvals (user_name,status,client_id,security_group_id,created_by,created_on,updated_by,updated_on) values(/*in:user_id*/?,/*in:status*/?,/*in:client_id*/?,/*in:tenant_id*/?,upper(/*in:user_id*/?),/*in:created*/?,upper(/*in:user_id*/?),/*in:created*/?), [tenant_id, in, class java.math.BigInteger], [client_id, in, class java.math.BigInteger], [user_id, in, class java.lang.String], [status, in, class oracle.dbtools.rt.oauth.ApprovalRequest$Status], [created, in, class java.sql.Timestamp]]with values: [adminlistener, APPROVED, 3858401374580004, -1, adminlistener, 2014-06-23 12:19:18.785, adminlistener, 2014-06-23 12:19:18.785]
SQL Developer responded with an Authentication Failed titled dialog with the following displayed in the body of the dialog

Best practice configuration for SQL 2014 to achieve HA when hosted on Hyper-V 2012R2 cluster
Hi,
I've had a hunt around but so far I've not found a conclusive answer to my question. I am currently moving from a SQL 2008R2 (physical tin) failover cluster to a virtual environment build on Hyper-V 2012R2. I am building everything with SQL 2014
SP1.
I want to achieve the same level of high availability that I currently have and at the same time make sure that I can replicate (DR) data offsite (Azure) in the future. I have two options with SQL which are clustered instance (basically the same as
I have now) or AlwaysOn Availability Groups for database level HA.
I am unsure which is the best method to use when the SQL nodes are highly available guests on Hyper-V, trying to imagine how the guests will all move around in the case of a host server failure is a bit mind boggling to say the least.
I am leaning towards a instance failover but I would appreciate any input/advice etc.
Thanks
RobHi Rob,
To start with I will not be installing SQL Server 2014 with SP1, as SP1 has bugs and Microsoft has disabled its download. See reference: http://www.eweek.com/database/microsoft-halts-sql-server-2014-sp1-downloads.html
With regards, I would go for AlwaysOn Availability Groups configuration, because it has several benefits:
You will get same amount of high availability you normally get with native cluster configuration, if you use AlwaysOn configuration. However, AlwaysOn configuration provides more granular high availability, and fail-over are invisible to the application,
if you using Availability Group listener to connect to server.
You can offload read-only workloads to secondary replica.
You can perform transaction log backups on secondary replica.
Reduce production downtime during patching or other planned work on the server.
So in short, you should use AlwaysOn configuration.

Unable to download Adobe Photoshop Elements 13, please help?
Hi,
I am unable to download Photoshop 13. I have bought it and have an activation code but the download just isn't happening.
It starts to run, so I click 'Open/Run' when it appears on the bottom downloads bar, then nothing happens.
Even when I go in the downloads folder on my pc and select the download itself in there, nothing happens.
I have plenty of memory on my laptop as most of my stuff is on my external hardrive.
Norton antivirus keeps telling me it is safe so it isn't being blocked by an antivirus program.
I am really confused, please help.
