Unable to drop view

Hi
I'm unable to drop a view owned by me. The system hangs when I issue 'DROP VIEW <view name>.
In DBA_OBJECTS the STATUS shows 'VALID'.
Can you help to how to drop this problem.
Thanks & Regards
Bhaskara

here are few options :
o write a query on v$lock, v$session and v$process
or
o select field_lists from v$sql where sql_text like '%VIEW_NAME%' and parsing_schema_id = user_id from dba_users
this will give you some idea about the process
or
o take a systemstate dump
if you know how to read systemstate dump trace file, this is prefered method.
try the 1st option and use addr and saddr to join the tables.
Best,
G

    You are lucky if only your undesirable MV is affected by theese corrupted blocks. This is an advice to do a complete-super-full-hot-cold-middle backup of ypur database and search for any disk for a "possible replace".

  • Unable to Edit View; Java Error then View is lost

    I need help understanding what might be going wrong and how to fix it, or file a bug and then work around the problem.
    Running SQL Developer 3.0.04,
    Java - should be using jdk 1.6.0_23, but I'm not sure how to verify this. I also don't know how to change which of the different Javas on my PC SQL Developer would use, if I gave the wrong answer when I installed SQL Develoeper.
    Windows 7 64-bit and 32-bit.
    DB is 9i, 9.2.0.6.0.
    Server is Linux 2.6.9-89.0.20.EL.xs5.6.0.58xenU.
    Problem does not occur on DB 11.1.0.7.0 running on same server.
    The problem occurs when I select a view, and click edit. Edit View panel opens. One easy change that causes the problem is to click the Select clause and simply reorder the columns, moving one column up. The syntax checks OK. The test query works OK. When I click the panel's OK button, I get a new window: Edit Object Error.
    An error was encountered:
    java.sql.SQLRecoverableException: No more data to read from socket
    The following SQL statement failed:
    [then there's a box with the CREATE FORCE VIEW statement.]
    I click OK acknowledging the error. I get another Edit Object Error window, with the same message about the socket, but this time the failing SQL statement is DROP VIEW PV_MYVIEW_NAME. After acknowledging this error by clicking OK, it reappears if I click OK for the Edit View panel. I am forced to click Cancel in the Edit View panel.
    The connection goes inactive. If I try to expand the tree of tables and views, the + signs go away. They don't expand. I need to disconnect and connect.
    My view is now gone.
    I tried lots of changes to the view, even adding a comment causes the failure.

    Hi Anne,
    Well, given your OS configuration, suggestion (2) probably doesn't apply to you anyway. Sorry if I wasted your time on that one.
    As for suggestion (1), even if it didn't work, at least it seems to verify that this is a JDBC driver issue. So, as noted above, SQL Developer 3.0 is not certified on 9i. And Oracle 9i Extended Support ended the middle of last year. The ojdbc5.jar/ojdbc6.jar (11.1/11.2 drivers) files shipped with the 2.1/3.0 releases, respectively, can generally connect to any Oracle database back to 9.0.1, but perhaps the functionality is not completely stable when using the oldest database releases.
    The main question though, is which JDBC driver are you actually using? If you have an Oracle client installed, SQL Developer will look in the Oracle home first and use the driver there, not what comes with SQL Developer. If you do have an Oracle client installed, and everything else (Prod/Dev) is working, then I hesitate recommending that you change anything. Possibly if you have no client, or an older client, installing a 10.2 client might help but it's difficult to know.
    Best wishes,
    Gary

  • Unable to read view Id of Declarative Component from "var" of af:iterator

    Hi,
    I am facing a weird issue where when i assign "var" of af:iterator to the view Id of declarative component, it is saying "<DynamicIncludeTag> <getViewId> Encountered null from the viewId expression: #{row}"
    And Page is showing blank.
    My JSPX code is as follows :
    <af:iterator value="#{pageFlowScope.stageBean.pathList}" var="row">
    <af:outputText value="#{row}" id="ot1"/>
    <af:declarativeComponent viewId="#{row}"/>
    </af:iterator>
    And code snippet for getter in Java bean is as follows:
    public List<String> getPathList()
    List<String> pathList = new ArrayList<String>();
    pathList.add("/Test.jspx");
    return pathList;
    The weird thing here is output text is printing the path /Test.jspx but declarative component is not recognizing it. Its showing blank page and in logs, error says "Encountered null from the viewId expression: #{row}"
    If i remove #{row} from viewId and manually give like viewId = "/Test.jspx" , its displaying the page correctly.
    Can anyone please help me solve this issue?
    Regards,
    Rakesh.

  • Unable to drop spatial index

    Hi
    In my Oracle 11.2 Test database, i had accidentally deleted the base tables of a Spatial Domain index that starts with MDRT$.
    I am unable to drop or rebuild the index. I even tried dropping the schema , however the query just hangs forever for both
    SQL> drop index Geo1_ID_1 force;
    SQL> drop user geonom cascade;I checked the AWR and ASH report , those sql are not listed there .
    Please Suggest !

    hi,
    I'm grasping at straws here, but you might want to try recreating the user_sdo_geom_metadata entry. When you do, make sure there aren't any spaces in the table_name or column_name. It looks OK though from what you printed out.
    Also, you might want to consider leaving off the sdo_numtiles and sdo_maxlevel. Oracle is no longer recommending the use of hybrid indexes in almost all cases.

  • Unable to drop nodes onto a line.

    Hello Everyone,
    I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I've got a situation where I'm unable to drop nodes onto a line. I'm having to manually connect them at each point. The Tutorial tells me that when I drag a node over a line the node in and out should highlight and at that point I can release it and it will automatically connect onto the tree. Although this did work with the trial version it is not working with my purchased version. Most likely I've dissabled the option without knowing it. Can't find the solution in any of the manuals. Thanks for any help.

    > Man, I STILL do that... then wonder where everything
    went!!
    Well, now I know you do it, I don't feel so stupid when I do it!
    . . . But isn't it great when you hit the space bar again . . . and everything comes back!

    Did you create ASM instance manually? If yes, then follow MOS DOC ID: 976075.1

  • Unable to chekcin view

    Has anyone seen this exception before? I have checked out a user view, and then checked it in, it just throws me this exception:
    WavesetException: Unable to checkin view. No account ID specified.
    This exception occurs even if I change nothing on the user view!

    I really hope if someone could reply here, I must say I am running out of time...
    I have seen many reply here using workflow to check out and check in user view during reconciliation, be it pre / per-account / post reconciliation. How come when I try to check in a user view, I have the exception:
    com.waveset.util.WavesetException: Unable to checkin view. No account ID specified
    I have created the simplest checkout-checkin workflow as below:

  • Unable to see view in drop down list at end of bread crumb

    Hello,
    I've a saved view in a List in SharePoint 2010
    the View used to display in the drop down list at the end of the breadcrumb but is no longer displayed. It disapeared one day after editing the page layout of the view)
    The view still exists and is accessible from a saved hyperlink.
    the view contains multiple web parts and three separate lists in the same site, filter from a forth (or master list) all in the same site.
    how can I get the view to re-appear in the drop down list at the end of the bread crumb?

    Yes, meant to pop that in the original post, Had a look in the per-location element. Nothing there either! It's disappeared from the site, but as I say a legacy Hyperlink stored in favourites
    still brings it out - I can edit the page when I get there etc...
    Apreciate you assistance BTW :-)

  • AW$ table unable to drop

    Hi ALL,
    I have an analytical workspace in oracle 10g (10.2.0.3). I deployed a new dimension recently in my workspace, which contains chart of accounts hierarchy.
    After deploying the dimension, i am unable to ATTACH the Analytical Workspace. I have tried it doing from AWM 10g (10.2.0.3), as well as from Discoverer. Similarly, when i try to drop the AW$ANALYTICAL_WORKSPACE table, Oracle error is thrown
    "ORA-00942:table or view does not exist". I have also tried to drop the partitions and analyze the table, but same error occurs. The table is shown in dba_tables and dba_objects view, but is unable to be dropped.
    I also tried dropping the Analytical Workspace, but Java Null Pointer exception occurs.
    Has anybody faced such scenario? what should i do to drop the table.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    This is not the forum for Analytic Workspace Manager. I would suggest to try the oracle olap forum for your questions.
