Unable to Edit Title/Album Song Info on Untitled Tracks

Hello, I'm having some difficulty with my iTunes. I have dozens of songs that I have imported from old CD's, but when I click Get Info, the Info section is grayed-out and will not let me edit the songs' names, CD, artist, etc.
I have tried using the Get Track Names. When I do, I get a pop-up stating: "CDDB info not available for some of these items." I have also made sure that my iTunes folder and the folders within have the Read-Only option unchecked. This is really getting on my nerves and would appreciate any advice for why I can't edit my songs.
Thanks

Take full control and ownership over the top-level itunes folder, and all its subfolders.

Then restart itunes so it will read the new permissions.

Is the music showing up in your library but with a little , or is it not showing up in your library at all?
If it's not showing up at all, it might be worth looking around for the iTunes Library file (think of the library file as a sort of sophisticated table of contents for iTunes so it knows what media files you want shown in iTunes, and some special attributes such as ratings, play counts, playlists, etc.) that has reference to these files. Start iTunes holding down the shift key, and you'll eventually get some message about being able choosing a library file (or create a new one). Try opening a few of the .itl files you see on your machine. Hopefully everything is ok, but just sitting in some library file. (Note, this is different from the Edit/Preferences/Advanced setting which says where your music files is, but says nothing about where the iTunes library file is located.)
If you have to re-add the music, you generally will not lose your album and song info (unless these are WMV or other non-MP3-like format). But this meta data is generally included in the MP3/M4A/etc file. The worst you'll generally lose would be the album artwork, and often even that is buried in the music file itself (depends upon how the artwork was originally associated with the media files.)

  • Entering CDDB info for untitled tracks

I have been working with a local band to make some demo CD's. All of the tracks on the CD are listed as: track1, track2, etc... Can I use iTunes to encode track information such as song title, album, etc... Or will I need a 3rd party solution?
    Thanks

Umm... I don't think Linux Grip going to help. On any other software, either.
If I understand the situation correctly, you want to burn an AUDIO CD that can be played in any CD player, including car and home stereo players, right?
And you want anyone who gets one of your demo CDs to be able to put it into a computer and see the title tracks, artist, etc, right?
I'm no expert, so I'm not 100% positive, but I believe the problem that is going to prevent you from doing that is this: The specifications for Standard audio CDs does not have any mechanism to encode that information on the CD - not allowed - no can do. It's got nothing to do with what hardware or software you use to make the audio CD, but rather with the accepted definition of "audio CD" (as described by the "Red Book" specifications). As far as I know, there are only two ways to get around this limitation of audio CDs:
    1. Burn a non-standard CD. If you burn the music on a DATA CD (CD-ROM) or MP3 CD, then computer users can easily see your track titles/artist/etc; however there will be many home stereo and car stereo CD players that will not be able to play the music at all.
    2. Upload the information to an online data base like Gracenote CDDB so internet connected computers can retrieve the track titles, artist, etc.
There is also something called CD Text which does encode some track title/artist information on the disc, but I believe that info is displayed only by certain hardware - usually car CD players and DVD players, but not computers. I don't know if you can add CD Text to home-burned CDs, but services which make commercial discs can do this for you.

  • Unable to Edit Title Properties

I've never ran into this issue before, but I'm in the title designer in Premiere Pro CS6 and cannot make any changes to the font color/shadow/anything. I'm sure there's a simple fix but it's really stressing me out trying to figure it out.

    Hi,
Please check this blog regarding CC application and OS X Yosemite.

You can also, try the step mention below and check if it helps.
Go to Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro\8.0\Profile-CreativeCloud-\Styles and remove the workingset.prsl from there and move it to desktop. Make sure Premiere Pro is closed.

  • ITunes song info edit

When I add a song to my iTunes library, I am unable to adjust volume and song info.  My music is stored on a portable hard drive that always remains connected to computer. I'm using Windows Vista.

Yes. Normally. There can be issues when tracks have multiple tags where only one gets updated.

  • Itunes 10 lost song titles/album info

I upgraded to itunes 10. A week later I moved my library to an external drive following the instructions in the support section. I have done it twice before
    successfully.
When I open itunes it is completely empty. There are no titles/albums/playlists.
The bar on the left shows playlists names, but when I click on them nothing appears.
I am able to play the tracks from the folders in finder, they play in itunes, the name of the song appears in the player. But this issue makes my itunes player application pretty useless.
I tried uploading itunes 10 again. still nothing. I am in a bind.
    any suggestions?

No, iTunes remembers the info from when it was burned.
Insert the CD on the original computer.
iTunes menu Advanced -> Submit CD track names.
When you insert it in iTunes on another computer, it should look up the info at Gracenote.

  • Reading Lengthy Album/Song Titles

Is there a way to easily see the entire title of a song or album? For example I have several Beethoven symphonies on my iPod Mini and all I can see from the menu is "Beethoven Sym...". Because the title is so long I can't tell which symphony and movement I am selecting until I start playing it and it scrolls across the display. I am hoping to avoid going into iTunes and editing all the titles.

Does your computer have an active Internet connection? Are you able to access/download anything from the iTunes Store? iTunes has to connect to the Gracenotes CD Database in order to download that info, so it could be that it's unable to connect and therefore you get the generic track numbers. When you have a CD in your computer, click the Advanced menu and click Get CD Track Names. What happens?

  • Un able to edit song info in itunes 7

I am currently organizing and fixing some errors in my itunes library and i'm having extreme difficulty editing song info.
For example about half of my songs show up as blues in the genre category. So i've gone through and changed them to rock, electronic, etc. The info will change but when i double click on the track (play the track) it changes the info back to the previous settings. I went to itunes help which instructed me to uncheck "organize itunes library" in order to write the new info to the file. But this has not worked either. this is a very frustrating problem because GNDB has given some very wrong info about album names and and info and i can't reorganize it.
Another example is a CD by Blockhead the album title is Music by Cavelight. Only 3 tracks have the correct album title the others are Blockhead Music by Cavelight, for some reason the artist name is included in the album title. When i correct the tracks that have the improper album name they do change untill the song is double clicked on, and then it resets to the previous name.
Please help i am a DJ with lots of music and organization is KEY!
    compac laptop   Windows XP

Select one or more tracks, press CTRL-I to Get Info.
Are the tracks in question in .wav format? No tags there, so nothing for iTunes to read other than the filename. I have a script that get more data provided iTunes hasn't "helpfully" rearranged them.

It would be nice if you told others the steps you've tried and/or how you used to have your setup.
Anyway have you tried tapping MORE this will then bring you to
the selection-list of Audiobooks, Genres, Compilations & Composers.
Selecting Genres gives you a list of all your music split into genres which was set within the Music downloaded via iTunes or uploaded from CD or which you may have set yourself.
Then you just select the Genre you want:
If certent songs are not correctly gategorised you may need to go into iTunes and reselect via Get-info
    >Info>Genre and change it there. That way you should end up with all songs of Jazz or other in 1 place.

  • I reinstalled I-Tunes several weeks ago.  Since then I can no longer burn MP3 Discs with Title and Artist Info.  Sometimes it only burns every 3rd song.  No Audio CD it seems to function OK.  The version has the "cloud" but I don't know if that matters or

I reinstalled I-Tunes several weeks ago.  I can no longer burn MP3 Disk with Song/Artist info onto disc.  It comes up as No Artist/No Title on car CD unit.  Old MP3 Disk previously recorded still show all info.  Sometimes only every 3rd song is on the MP3 CD.  On Audio Disc there is no change and all info still shows up.  The new I-Tunes version has the "cloud" on it if that could make a difference.  In the select Burn CD mode I can select testing and add song info for Audio Disk but it shows shadowed out for MP3/Data.  I added and removed ID tagging from my list to see if that made a difference but it didn't.
    Any Thoughts?

This may help.  Audio files are actaully in the DATA folder.  These can be editted with Soundbooth then they must be imported intot the specific slide in the Powerpoint presentation.  Publish the presentation (as you'll read below) and *should* work This reply came from robva65 [email protected]
Let's try this: *Publish* the PPT deck you have.  What you'll end up with is a set of files and folders, but I want you to look for the *data folder* that's created as a result of the publishing process. (Unless you specify where you're publishing to, Presenter will publish to a directory called "My Adobe Presentations" by default, so you may have to look there on your harddrive)  Inside the data folder will be a list of mp3 files, which, if everything goes smoothly, should make it much, much easier to see which audio is used by a specific slide.
Here's what I mean: for example, after publishing, I have a data folder and inside I found the following file: a24x9x3.mp3  As I double click the mp3 file (which causes it to play using Windows Media on my laptop), I can hear that it corresponds to my slide 9 in my PPT deck.  And there's corresponding mp3 files for each and every slide I have in my deck.  I'm clicking another file (wouldn't it be nice to see what I'm doing???) a24x20x3.mp3, and that file corresponds to my slide 20 content in PowerPoint.
So again, give publishing in PowerPoint a shot and see if that makes it any easier.  Well...not nearly as easy as recording in Audition/Soundbooth/Audacity, but it's close enough to hopefully dig you out of that hole you're in now.
    Hope this helps ~rich

  • Can't edit track # in song info

In my music library, I'm able to edit song info such as artist, song name, album, etc. But I can't figure out how to change the track # of a song. I have the column displayed for track #'s, but clicking inside the track # boxes doesn't allow me to edit the numbers. This is particularly frustrating for files that don't have track numbers at all, since they're listed out of order. How can I fix this? Thanks

You can't get to it from the main library screen.
Right-click on the track > Get Info > Info tab
    You can change it there.

  • IPod losing space when editing song info in iTunes

I originally posted this in the iPod forum, but I'm not sure if it is a Pod issue or an iTunes issue.
    Hi,
Hopefully, this is going into the correct forum. I realize this is probably a very stupid question, but I have a 60 GB iPod Photo with over 9,000 songs on it.
I just went through the painstaking task of correcting all of the song entries that iTunes screwed up when importing (spelling mistakes, things like that).
After changing the info in iTunes, I plugged in the iPod in to update the songs (I auto-synch), and when waiting for the iPod to update, I noticed that the available space was decreasing at the same level as if these were brand new music files being loaded onto the pod.
Since these songs already existed on the pod, I'm just wondering why I lost a bunch of space when all I did was change text associated with the file. After the update, I waited to see if the pod would recognize it and bump the available space back up, but it didn't...it's almost like there are now 2 versions of the file on the iPod (though only 1 shows) as it has taken the space away.
Is this the way it works, or is there any way I can regain the space back that I had before this last update (taking in mind, that I didn't load any new music onto the iPod...I just changed some of the info).
    Many thanks for any help.

Artwork was already on the original file. All I did was literally change either the name of the song title or the album title on the info tab. Artwork was already there from when I imported the songs originally.
Makes sense that this would happen if iTunes thinks this is brand new file, but by losing the space, it appears to me that iTunes thinks there are two files, while the iPod only shows one.
    Thanks!

  • Cannot edit song info after import

I just upgraded to Leopard and thats when this started happening.
When I download songs, I import them, but once they are imported, I cannot change the name, artist, album, lyrics--any information.
The fields in the "Get Info" menu even appear gray--I can't change them at all.
I can still edit all the songs I downloaded before Leopard, just the post-Leopard songs are proving problematic.
    Thanks.
